The founder of the concern is Chon Chu-Yong. It was he who opened the company in 1967, which was originally only part of a large project, and in 2003 it became an individual unit.

Hyundai Motor initially focused on passenger cars, but one Ford truck was also produced.

Over the next thirty years, the company developed and expanded the scope of production. Five years after the opening, the production of Hyundai cars started, and two years later, the Hyundai Poini model appeared.

By the 80s of the last century, the production volume reached 50 thousand cars per year. In 1998, a significant event in the history of the company took place - Kia Motros was taken over.

The name Hyundai is translated from Korean as "modernity". Actually, this word became a motto for manufacturers who tried to embody new trends and tendencies in each model.

Hyundai Motor owns many car assembly plants not only in South Korea, but also in other countries of the world - the United States. Turkey, Czech Republic, RF, China and others.

On the territory of the plant there are workshops where spare parts are manufactured, as well as welding, assembly and painting of the machine.

There is also a stamping workshop, in which special attention is paid to product quality.

An important feature of the Hyundai Motor plant in Russia is the bias towards process automation. This figure reaches 80 percent, which allows us to speak with confidence about the quality and reliability of finished cars.

Few people know, but in the two workshops of the plant (painting and welding), people do not participate in the production process at all. All the work is done by the so-called "transformers" - robotic manipulators. By the way, this technique is also manufactured at the Hyundai plant.

An obligatory stage of production is the control line, where the machine undergoes quality control. If problems are identified, the vehicle is sent for revision.

In 2016, the production of Hyundai Solaris in Russia was temporarily suspended, but, as the company representatives assure, in March 2017 the Russians will be presented with an updated version of the second generation car, which will begin to be assembled at the same plant from January of this year.

The next model worthy of attention is the Hyundai Creta. Previously, cars were produced only for the Asian market, and production was established in India (the city of Chennai).

Already the first year of sales has shown the success of the new model. Even before the start of the issue, the number of applications exceeded 70 thousand. In addition to Asia, Hyundai Creta is sold in South American and African countries.

Interestingly, the Indian plant was designed to produce no more than 7 thousand cars per month.

Due to such restrictions, customers had to stand in lines for a long time, and the waiting time sometimes reached 6-8 months or more.

It is not surprising that the issue of capacity expansion was given key attention. Already in the first year of production, it was announced about the future increase in the limit to 10 thousand cars per month.

As for the Russian market, the Hyundai Creta appeared here later. Production has been established at the already mentioned plant in St. Petersburg. The first line was launched in August 2016.

From the conveyor, the cars go to the dealer network and are sold. The main difficulties are associated with the need to reconfigure the equipment for the new model, because earlier at the plant on this line another model was produced - Solaris.

But now Solaris production has been moved to a different, more advanced line (see above).

On average, the St. Petersburg plant plans to produce 4-5 thousand cars per month. The total volume of Hyundai Kreta cars, which should come off the assembly line, is 200 thousand units.

This is enough to cover the needs of not only Russia, but also neighboring countries.

It should be noted that the Russian version of the Hyundai Creta has a number of differences. The main feature is the adaptation of the car to Russian roads. This means that the ground clearance has been increased, a stiffer suspension has been installed.
