When deciding whether to retrofit a vehicle, there are a number of important points to keep in mind. The list of requirements that an engine must satisfy for a VAZ 2107 is as follows:

  1. Compliance with the standard power unit in terms of overall and mass characteristics.
  2. Possibility of docking with vehicle transmission units.
  3. Powerplant compatibility with other vehicle systems.

The closest in technical characteristics to the power unit of the "seven" are the products of companies such as Nissan and Fiat. Their motors can be used with minimal rework.

You can buy a suitable engine for disassembly for relatively little money. Before putting it on your VAZ 2107, it makes sense to diagnose it and, if necessary, make a major overhaul. Practice shows that the replacement of some parts: oil seals, belts and other components is required. It is more difficult and more troublesome to do this by car.

Dismantling the power unit

Upon completion of diagnostics and other preparatory actions with the engine, which is planned to be installed on a VAZ 2107 model car, you can proceed to the next stage. It is required to dismantle the standard motor in the following order:

  1. The machine is installed in a garage box on an inspection pit or on a lift. The room must be equipped with a hoist or other lifting device.
  2. We disconnect the battery and remove it from the car, disconnect and dismantle all attachments.
  3. We undock the power unit from the transmission and unscrew the mounting bolts of the pillows.
  4. After making sure that nothing interferes with the process with the help of the hoist, you can carefully lift the power unit and remove it from the engine compartment. If any of the elements interferes with this process, it should be removed.

It is advisable to put the dismantled engine on a special stand; the engine can be sold later. This will offset part of the cost of re-equipping the machine.

Installing the engine on a car

The prepared power unit is lifted with the help of a hoist and moved into the engine compartment of the VAZ 2107 for preliminary fitting. The engine is installed in the space allocated to it and the cushion mounts are marked. The installation of the support pads will require welding by a qualified technician.
