With the advent of the first generation, the Audi RS6 has shown a new level of combination of comfort, practicality, dynamics and handling. And no one disputes that the stock RS6 can easily hang annoyingly on the tail of a Lamborghini or a Porsche, but at the same time this handsome, in this case the second generation, has huge potential for improvement.

This car is far from the first RS6 from our fleet. Thanks to our experience, we are used to getting the most out of every car! Maximum dynamics, maximum speed. At the same time, comfort, practicality and handling should remain at the same level. And the Audi RS6 is perfect in this case as a car that will be used every day and all year round.

We got the car already chipped and with MTM filters. Power at that time was about 730 hp. despite the fact that the factory configuration gave the owner at the disposal of "only" 580 hp.

Charged by VSPerformance

Like any other car that gets into our fleet, the RS6 was immediately serviced, the engine oil was replaced with the products of our partner Xenum, the catalytic converter was removed, and the VSPerformance software was successfully uploaded. The calculated power was 750-777 hp. In this configuration, the car was one of the fastest in Zelenograd, showing spectacular races all season.

This, of course, was to stop, to put it mildly, not in the style of VSPerformance! And by the 2015 season, we must reach a new level of competition.

Completed work

The main direction of improvement is the replacement of standard turbines with more high-performance ones. There are ready-made kit solutions on the market, the price of which is equal to one or even two similar machines. Therefore, this option does not suit us. On the basis of stock turbines, our specialists have manufactured hybrid ones with significantly higher performance.

To preserve an authentic look, based on the components of our partner KN, filters of zero resistance were made and installed in their regular places. Additionally, all joints of the air path were polished and the inner diameter of the inlet pipes was increased for docking with hybrid turbines. These solutions are remarkable in that the engine compartment retains its original state and the car does not resemble any "cramps".

Downpipes and a direct-flow exhaust system were made for the free operation of the noticeably added engine. The maximum diameters were selected, which allowed the design and arrangement of the units, which maximally reduce the resistance to escaping exhaust gases.

When deep tuning the engine, it is important to pay attention to related systems and units. Based on this, the standard propeller shaft was rebuilt and the outboard bearing was reinforced.

We could not ignore the appearance. It doesn't have to be very eye-catching, but at least slightly the car should stand out from the "regular" RS6. That is why the freaky R20 wheels from HRE Performance were installed for the summer season. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires 2 265 35 R20 complete the picture.

Methanol or methyl alcohol is known to many as the most dangerous poison used as a solvent. It is toxic, explosive and flammable. Where would such properties be useful to us? 😉 The octane number of pure methanol is 156. This means that when it is fed into the combustion chamber, the total octane number of the fuel increases significantly. This gives us the following advantages:
- the ability to work on a leaner mixture
- the ability to install earlier ignition angles

In fact, installing a methanol supply system is not tricky, but rather laborious. It is necessary to place a tank with methanol, stretch a line, install a pump and introduce injectors into the car's standard intake system. The tanks are included in the kit. However, we made our own. Firstly, it made it possible to hide them and not disturb the general idyll of the car. Secondly, for safety reasons, our tanks have a ventilation system, which we combined with the ventilation of the battery. Whale containers are devoid of this important nuance.

A separate controller is responsible for the operation of this system. The performance in our case was adjusted depending on the pressure of the hybrid turbines, modified by our specialists. The customization process is full of nuances and it is better to leave it to a separate topic of conversation. It consists in the optimal distribution of the amount of supplied methanol in the engine speed range, taking into account the proportions of the fuel mixture, which must also be adjusted when working with methanol to achieve maximum results. After all, by setting at this stage exclusively the methanol injection kit controller it is impossible to solve all the negative nuances.

In general, such a system makes it possible to give power increase of 15-20 percent!

However, this is not all. Water entering the combustion chambers significantly reduces detonation, which in turn allows the ignition angles to be slightly shifted. Another plus is the significant reduction in engine temperature. So if, after a certain level of improvements, your stock cooling system began to not cope with the temperature, installing a methanol supply system can save the situation.

For those who cannot imagine a sports car without independent gear shifting, there is a manual mode with paddles on the steering wheel. The control, however, turns out to be imaginary - when the maximum speed is reached, the box will still switch to an increased one. This is how it is now, when the back of my head has once again checked the strength of the headrest - it’s the second turned on at a speed of under a hundred. I didn't measure it, but I willingly believe that this black carcass weighing 1840 kg can easily reach 100 km / h in less than 5 seconds. The only unplanned visit to the service was the case when the car suddenly lost power. The reason was a branch pipe that flew off one of the turbines. Otherwise, unlike the 2.7 bi-turbo, the car does not cause any problems, and does not even differ in its oil appetite. Apparently, the previous owner was quite responsible. The design of the car is not bad, there are very few differences from the civilian version. Here is just another non-aggressive body kit. The model does not scream that she is athletic. Installed simple halogen headlights, additionally installed xenon. The embossed hood, a huge radiator grill, the bumper has massive air intakes, cooling brakes of the Audi RS6 C6. Also, the bumper is equipped with headlight washers.

The center console was not equipped with a sporty style. Its upper section has a medium-sized display for the Audi RS6 C6 multimedia system with integrated navigation. Now it's worth talking about the most important thing - the engine. The model is equipped with only one power unit - a V10 with twin turbocharging. This 5-liter engine produces 580 horsepower available at 6250 rpm. Torque equal to 650 H * m is available at 1500 rpm. The main role is played by turbines, each generating a pressure of 0.7 bar.


This TFSI engine in the Audi RS6 Avant works in conjunction with an automatic 6-speed Tiptronic hydromechanical gearbox. Of course, this is the proprietary quattro all-wheel drive system, adored by Audi fans.

With regard to the dynamics, the situation is as follows - the car accelerates to a hundred in 4.6 seconds, the maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h. The sedan is 0.1 times faster, although it feels like the opposite.
