Instructions for the Skybreak DD5 immobilizer

Skybrake DD5 is one of the most modern high-level security systems for cars, replacing Skybrake DD2, previous generation Skybrake products. The next generation Skybrake DD5 products combine modern technologies, offers an extensive set of parameters and one of the most reliable data encryption algorithms - AES 128. detailed information for the Skybrake DD5 product, refer to the Skybrake DD5 Instructions for Use. This document describes the installation of this device in a car, as well as everything related to it.

Modern wireless immobilizers are more in demand than those that need to be connected to a car using a bunch of wires. Microscopic RFID tags are replacing the standard keys, which unlock the car door and release the security mode without the owner's intervention and only at the moment of his approach. A striking example such a system has become a skybrake immobilizer and it is about his positive qualities now there will be an opportunity to talk.

Modern immobilizer skybrake, description, features, instructions

ATTENTION! Found a completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also did not believe until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

Immobilizers of the new generation are even more convenient to use than the familiar systems of this type, which were at their peak of popularity a few years ago. The skybrake immobilizer is just perfect for modern cars, especially large trucks and tractors. Its price is much lower than that of a standard alarm, and installation does not take long. What else this security system can please users with, drivers will be able to find out if they spend a couple of minutes of their precious time right now.

Options, appearance and main features of the skybrake immobilizer

The immobilizer is the most effective blocking agent that protects the car from theft and penetration of unauthorized persons. This model is small, inconspicuous appearance and tiny labels to control. It will be very easy to hide such an immobilizer in a car, but it will take a lot of time for intruders to find it.

The skybrake immobilizer is standard for wireless immobilizers complete set, namely:

  • main, system, radio-controlled unit;
  • blocking marks;
  • light;
  • radio tags for control;
  • user manual.

The functional range of this immobilizer allows it to carry out the following processes:

  • automatic user authorization;
  • automatic arming and disarming;
  • the ability to control the hood and door locks;
  • work with or without a sensor;
  • complete blocking of the movement system vehicle when trying to steal.

The skybrake immobilizer itself is quite simple, but its security capabilities are located on high level... You can install the system yourself.

Installing and disabling the immobilizer - process features

to install security immobilizer skybrake needs to be parsed dashboard and find the most hidden place for the block, and then the following actions will take place:

  • fixing the immobilizer;
  • installation of interlocking radio sensors;
  • connecting an LED bulb;
  • setting the immobilizer to the operating mode.

In order to disable the immobilizer of this model, you must use:

  • all kinds of linemen;
  • special devices - killers;
  • special emulators;
  • intended for this software.

Installing an immobilizer is easier than disabling it, and this is very good, because an attacker cannot easily cope with this task. Including the fact that the skybrake immobilizer is not wired, it can also be installed from the outside of the vehicle. The main unit can withstand the effects of sufficiently high and low temperature indicators, which makes its work even more productive. There are no problems with the use of this immobilizer, and its battery will last for several years of autonomous operation.

System advantages:

  • The especially small size of the immobilizer allows it to be installed in your car in the most hidden places. This makes it difficult for the hijacker, who is usually limited in time.
  • The unique Double Dialogue technology ensures reliable information exchange between the tag and the immobilizer installed in your car. It is almost impossible to pick up or intercept the code, since the transmission frequency is constantly changing. The immobilizer is protected from writing new labels.
  • Ease of use. The small tag size allows you to operate the SkyBrake immobilizer without removing the tag from your pocket. The efficiency of the system is successfully combined with ease of management.

SkyBrake protects against the following types of theft:

  • Traditional theft. If there is no tag, the hijacker will be able to start the engine of your car, but after a while the system will block it, and the hijacker will no longer be able to continue driving. Attempts re-launch engine will be stopped by the system.
  • Car capture. Fraudsters can use sophisticated methods of luring people out of the car, from puncturing a wheel to organizing deliberate accidents. But, even if the intruders manage to take possession of the car, they will not be able to go far: if the "tag" is no longer in the interior of your car, the engine will be blocked.
  • Hijacking with stolen keys. You've probably heard about stealing keys from your pocket or wallet in busy places - a store, a nightclub, etc. After starting the engine with stolen keys, the pickpocket usually tries to quickly leave the parking lot. However, the engine will be blocked - until the owner appears with the "tag".
  • Violent hijacking. If the owner is thrown out of the car, the SkyBrake immobilizer will not allow criminals to go far. If the tag remains with the driver, the engine will be blocked.

Only satellite systems security.

Description and working principle

Description and principle of operation of immo:

  1. Installed on the Skybreak, it blocks the elements of the ignition system, which prevents the power unit from starting.
  2. Engine protection is ensured by using a special electronic key with a tag. If the car owner leaves the range of the immo antenna (about two meters), the device will block the motor.
  3. When the security system is disabled without a tag as a result of theft or robbery power unit will start but stop after 50 seconds.

Notification of the car enthusiast about turning the device on and off is carried out by means of sound and light signals.

Overview of diode indicator pulses:

  • short-term signal with a duration of 0.1 sec. informs about the disconnection of the blocking of the power unit and the motion sensor;
  • long impulse for 0.3 sec. speaks about turning off the immobilizer, but the motion controller is working at the same time;
  • quiet operation of the sound device indicates that the engine is locked and the sensor is deactivated;
  • a double impulse informs about the work of the immo and the motion controller.

According to the service manual, starting the engine is possible only if the owner of the car with the tag is in the antenna coverage area. The Skybreak immobilizer transceiver wirelessly detects the presence of a key within the radius of the control unit. If there is no label, the next start of the power unit will occur after entering the pin code.

The immobilizer will report the absence of an electronic key as follows:

  1. Inclusion of the blocker. The vehicle protection means is waiting for a signal from the tag, while the ignition system is on. The LED is off and the buzzer does not work, the blocking of the power unit is deactivated. The duration of this mode of action is 18 seconds.
  2. Activation of the alert function. Security device warns the car enthusiast about the absence of an electronic key within the antenna range. The user is first alerted by standard extended beep pulses and long blinking LEDs. This mode is valid for 1 minute, the power unit has not yet been locked.
  3. The next step is to turn on the final alarms. Their duration will be shorter, the engine blocking has not yet been activated. The duration of the signals is determined by the consumer and is adjusted in accordance with technical guidance... The maximum pulse duration is 55 seconds.
  4. Then the Panic mode is activated. The user is warned by the system about the absence of an electronic tag in the immo range, and the motor is blocked. The device will protect the engine until the key appears; movement on the vehicle is impossible. The LED blinks five times in one cycle and the beeper alarms are triggered.

Auto electrician Sergey Zaitsev briefly spoke about the principle of operation of blocking devices for car engines.

Main functions and technical characteristics of the immobilizer

Both versions have similar specifications:

  • data transmission between the key and the antenna is performed over a 2.4 GHz channel;
  • the power value of the antenna adapter during the transmission of pulses will be no more than 1 mW;
  • the immobilizer is based on the GSFK modulation type;
  • the number of channels for transmitting information between the electronic key and the transceiver is 125 pieces;
  • protection of all power lines is carried out by using a fuse rated at 3 A;
  • the temperature of the operating environment of the control module is from -40 to +85 degrees;
  • packet data transfer between devices in the DD2 model is carried out at a speed of 1 Mb / s, in DD5 - 2 Mb / s;
  • for effective work the temperature level of the electronic tag should be no more than +55.

Features of immobilizer version DD2

Device DD2 version can work in the "Anti-theft" mode, the activation of which is relevant when robbery by car. When this function is enabled, the engine does not block immediately, but after a certain time. The interval is needed in order for the attacker to leave the crime scene and move away to a safe distance from the car owner. This model differs from the traditional signaling by the absence of a siren.

Features of the Skebrake DD2 blocker:

  • authorization of the vehicle owner by radio using an electronic tag;
  • anti-robbery function;
  • automatic activation of engine blocking when the user moves away from the transceiver;
  • the presence of a service mode used to configure and control the immobilizer.

The range of the Skybrake immobilizer depends on several factors, including the location of the control unit and the presence of interference near the car.

Features of immobilizer version DD5

This version differs from DD2 by the presence of a motion controller in the package - this sensor is built into the microprocessor module. It is used to control the position of the vehicle in relation to the ground. The presence of an additional sensor allows you to monitor the speed of the vehicle and determine the acceleration.

Features of the immobilizer Skybrake DD5:

  • ensuring effective protection of the vehicle in case of theft or loss of keys;
  • small dimensions of the blocker elements, allowing for the hidden installation of the device;
  • the presence of the author's data encoding system makes it possible to prevent electronic hacking;
  • continuous operation of the blocker - warning signals inside the car allow you to learn about the need to replace the battery.

Step-by-step instructions for installing an immobilizer

Before installing the blocker, you must turn off the power in on-board network... To do this, open the hood and disconnect the terminals from battery... Use an appropriately sized spanner to loosen the clamp.

Installation Guide:

  1. The control unit is being installed, it must be placed in the most hidden place under the hood of the car. It is important that there are no metal products and heating parts near the control module - intake manifold or cylinder block. The device should not be exposed to moisture; for this, it can additionally be wrapped in cellophane. To fix the control unit, double-sided tape is used, the mounting surface is pre-degreased and cleaned. Additionally, plastic ties can be used for fastening.
  2. The buzzer is installed in a hidden place in the cabin. This is done so that an attacker cannot determine the location of the device and calculate the presence of a control unit from its wires. The buzzer must be positioned so that its sound is not muffled.
  3. The immobilizer diode lamp is installed on the center console of the car. The place should be as visible as possible so that the work of the blocker can be determined from the street. The LED is not included in the delivery set, it must be purchased separately.
  4. The negative output of the control unit is connected to ground, that is, the "mass" of the vehicle. It can be connected to any standard bolt on the body. The grounding must be firmly fixed.
  5. The positive output is connected to the ignition switch; to complete the task, you need to remove the decorative upholstery on the lock. The electrical connection must be protected safety element 3 A. The wire to which the contact is connected must be supplied with a 12-volt voltage when the ignition is activated.
  6. Contact number 7 is used to connect the LED light and buzzer. It must be connected to a 12 volt circuit that carries voltage at all times.
  7. Contact element number 1 is the output of the blocking line. Designed to interrupt power supply to the electrical components of the engine.

Auto electrician Sergey Zaitsev spoke about the features self installation engine blockers.

Possible malfunctions and ways to eliminate them

If problems arise with the operation of the blocker, first of all, you need to check the battery charge. Undervoltage in the on-board network can lead to incorrect work immobilizer. The device may not react to the presence of a tag in the range of the transceiver; an arbitrary blocking of the engine is possible.

Diagnostics and elimination of malfunctions of the battery (storage battery):

  1. Performed visual check... The car owner must ensure the integrity of the battery case, as well as its terminals. If there is oxidation on the contacts, they are cleaned using an iron construction or toothbrush. If the battery case has cracks through which electrolyte flows out, the battery must be replaced.
  2. Then the banks of the battery are unscrewed and the level is checked working fluid... If the electrolyte solution is too small, then distillate must be added to the device.
  3. Using a multimeter, the battery voltage is diagnosed, the maximum measurement range must be set on the tester in advance. The minus of the device - a black wire - is connected to the negative terminal of the batteries, plus - to the positive.
  4. Reading data in progress. If the battery is working, then the voltage parameter should be at least 12.6 volts. At lower values, it can be concluded that the battery is discharged, so it will have to be recharged.

Broken label

If the blocker is still under warranty, then you cannot repair this element yourself. It is necessary to check the integrity of the board in the dongle. If there are traces of oxidation on it, they must be carefully removed with a piece of cotton wool. The damaged contacts on the board are replaced with new ones by soldering.

In the case when the tag is triggered once, it will be necessary to check the power supply in it. If the battery in the key is discharged, then it is replaced with a new one.

Inoperative processor unit

If the problem is of a software nature, you will need to reinstall the software to fix it. It is not recommended to do this on your own; it is better to consult a specialist.

Special features of the control unit diagnostics:

  1. A visual check is performed first. It is necessary to make sure that there is no damage to the case.
  2. If the malfunction is related to the ingress of moisture into the module, then the device will have to be disassembled. The board is removed from the unit and dried in a dry place not exposed to high temperatures... You cannot dry the circuit with a household hairdryer and next to the stove.
  3. If there is damage to the contact elements on the board, they are re-soldered. It is also better to entrust this task to specialists.

Problems with engine blocking

Malfunctions associated with blocking the power unit are usually caused by the inoperability of the relay. Find new part it will be difficult for sale, you can look for it in the secondary market.

If there are traces of burning of the contacts on the relay, then these elements must be re-soldered.

Sensor sensitivity

Diagnostics of this parameter of the controller with the appearance of vibrations or acceleration is performed as follows:

  1. The car owner gets into the vehicle and removes the battery from the tag.
  2. The power unit is being launched.
  3. With the engine running, the motorist leaves the passenger compartment and abruptly locks the door. It is necessary to hit the car body or rock the vehicle.
  4. If the power unit continues to work after that, then the controller's sensitivity level is set correctly. When a motor blockage occurs this parameter need to be reduced.
  5. Then acceleration sensitivity diagnostics are performed. To do this, the first 2 points are repeated.
  6. The car owner starts driving the car at a minimum speed. If the sensitivity parameter is adjusted correctly, the power unit will be locked. In the case when, after the start of movement, the motor continues to operate, the controller is adjusted.

How do I disable the immobilizer?

Deactivation using a password is done like this:

  1. The ignition is activated. The car owner must wait until the power unit locks. It will be signaled by warning buzzer signals.
  2. The ignition in the vehicle is turned off. The user must prepare to enter the pin code.
  3. The ignition is activated. When the first warning signals appear, the motorist should start timing. If the first digit of the password is 6, then after the sixth impulse the user turns off the ignition, if 2 - then after the second, etc. Deactivation is performed in accordance with the number of signals corresponding to the first digit of the pin code.
  4. Then the ignition is turned off and on again. The procedure for entering the password is repeated, but now it is necessary to enter the second digit.
  5. Identical actions are performed when specifying subsequent characters of the pin-code. If the microprocessor module of the blocker accepts the password, the beeper will play the corresponding signal. The engine blocking will be disabled.

The immobilizer pin code is assigned by the car manufacturer and cannot be changed by the owner.

Deleting a mark from memory

To erase information about an electronic key in case of its loss, the following actions are performed:

  1. Power sources are removed from all RFID tags within the range of the blocker. The ignition is activated.
  2. Then you need to wait until the power unit is locked. This will be indicated by the warning buzzer signals. The ignition can be turned off.
  3. The system is activated. The user should start counting the beeps. The ignition is switched off after the tenth sound pulse. The procedure must be repeated two times.
  4. The ignition is activated and deactivated after the first or second sound signal, depending on the tag number. It can be specified on the body of the electronic key.
  5. Password is being entered. You need to turn on the ignition and count sound signals, it turns off when the number of pulses corresponds to the first digit of the password. These steps are repeated for each character in the code.
  6. Then the ignition is switched on, the immobilizer should emit several short signals. Their number depends on the total number of electronic keys stored in the memory of the control unit.
  7. To completely delete information about the tag, the engine is unlocked. The procedure is carried out using an additional electronic key. You cannot delete the information about the last recorded RFID tag.

Pros and cons of the device

The main advantage is effective protection vehicle, so hacking Skybrake immobilizers is almost impossible in practice. Even if an attacker manages to bypass the anti-theft device, the engine will still be blocked after some time. Thus, it will not be possible to escape far from the scene of the crime.

The disadvantages of Skybrake, as the reviews show, are much more:

  1. High price. For this price, you can buy a full anti-theft complex equipped with siren, engine blocker and GPS function.
  2. The appearance of malfunctions of the device when operating under interference conditions. This problem is specific to major cities and megalopolises.
  3. Low actual range of the antenna module. The results of independent research have shown that the data transfer rate of 1-2 Mb / s does not correspond to reality. V anti-theft device all the capabilities of the radio channel are not used 100%. Because of this, the range of the tag is low.
  4. Lack of power saving mode. In the case of a microprocessor module, this disadvantage is not critical. But the batteries are in electronic keys discharged quickly enough. If the failure of the power supply occurs on the track, it will bring serious inconvenience to the car owner.

CONSUMER ANALYSIS

Despite the age quite old for anti-theft systems (the immobilizer appeared on the market several years ago), SkyBrake DD2 + does not give in to numerous successors of the engine compartment immobilizer family: it does not have obvious punctures in terms of energy consumption and anti-theft algorithms, and in terms of reliability, the system is at its best. On the other hand, one cannot fail to note such shortcomings as the inability to work with the hood lock, an unchangeable pin code and sufficiently large radio tags.

Design

The design of the ancestor of engine compartment immobilizers has already become a classic of the genre. The SkyBrake DD2 + features two small active RFID tags and an ultra-compact base unit with a built-in lockout relay that is sized to fit into the engine wiring harness under the hood.

Anti-theft capabilities

Immobilizer SkyBrake DD2 + is able to block one engine circuit using the blocking relay built into the base unit with maximum load 30 A. When the ignition is turned on, the base unit immediately starts polling the radio air in search of a tag. If the tag is not found, then the immobilizer allows the driver to start the engine once for 55 seconds, while the first 25 seconds it behaves quietly, and then starts emitting warning signals. If at this time the driver or the hijacker tries to restart the engine, the blocking will turn on 10 seconds after the restart, regardless of how much time there was before that moment. All subsequent attempts to turn off and turn on the ignition will end with the engine blocking with a two-second delay.

By the way, during blocking, the immobilizer constantly emits short beeps, which is undoubtedly unmasking. And although the beeper itself has a remote design, the base unit with a built-in relay will no longer be safe after the beeper is detected, because the immobilizer cannot control the hood lock.

The PIN code of the immobilizer cannot be changed: its 4-digit value is hard-coded at the factory. You can find out this code by erasing protective covering on plastic card that comes with the anti-theft system.

Counter-robbery

The "anti-landing" algorithm in Skybrake DD2 + is implemented according to the scheme common for engine compartment immobilizers: while driving, the immobilizer constantly polls the tag, and if the latter disappears, the anti-robbery function is activated. The Theft Deterrent System starts a 110-second report followed by an engine lockout, with alarms sounding for the last 35 seconds. With such an anti-hijacking algorithm, a great responsibility falls on the sound detector: due to interference, it often happens that the base unit does not see the tag in the passenger compartment, and no one else can warn the driver about this.

Radio channel

The main unit communicates with tags at a frequency of 2.4 GHz, the maximum range is limited to 5 meters, and the confidentiality of the radio message is guaranteed by a dialogue coding system. As studies have shown, the radio channel of the SkyBrake DD2 + immobilizer cannot be considered the most perfect: for example, there are 80 possible radio channels, but in reality, when the tag and the base unit come into contact, communication occurs only on one channel, and even then experts are inclined to believe that the transmission speed is not declared 1 Mbps, and much less. Simply put, the capabilities of the radio path are not used 100%, and this negatively affects the maximum possible length of the code message. However, this minus belongs to the category of theoretical, with a reserve for the future, since it is not possible now to hack the dialogue radio exchange: too high frequency and too little radio time.

By the way, the real range of the "block-tag" link very much depends on the installation location of the base unit and interference: car owners often complain about the loss of communication with the tag while the car is moving.

Energy consumption

When measuring the "appetite" of the base unit, experts came to unequivocal conclusions: the base unit Skybrake DD2 + is the most voracious of all the samples under study. However, if we talk about absolute values, everything is not so sad: in normal mode the unit consumes 42 mA, and in the blocking mode - 107 mA, for a working generator these values are like a pellet to an elephant, and when the ignition is off, the immobilizer does not consume anything at all.

The energy consumption of the tag is much more important, because being somewhere on the track with a dead battery is not a pleasant pleasure, especially if you take into account all the troubles with entering the pin code. So, most of the time, the tag operates in a fairly economical mode, consuming about 50 μA, only periodically "waking up" for a test message with a flow rate of 10 mA. Such a mode of operation cannot be called too energy-consuming, however, it does not claim to be the most economical: on average, the battery lasts for 6-12 months, and this despite the fact that the tag uses a battery that is more powerful than that of competitors.
