LuAZ-967A

LuAZ-967M

The 967M modification was adapted for civilian use and went on sale in 1975. Several significant changes were made to it:

LuAZ-1901 "Geologist"

This car was first produced from 1962 to 1967, and then its serial production was continued in 1999, although at another car plant. Its base is the same 967th modification, but with numerous improvements.

"Geologist" has:

  • 3-cylinder engine with a volume of 1.5 (ZDTN).

LuAZ-969 "Volyn"

The first Volyn LuAZ car left the assembly line back in 1967. Its production continued almost until the end of 1992. Initially, the car was equipped with the same engine from AvtoZAZ, which significantly reduced the comfort of passengers in the cabin due to its high noise. LuAZ-969V

The years of production of the SUV from 1967 to 1972. Its main difference was that the car did not have a drive to the rear axle. In fact, this is the first front-wheel drive car that was produced in the USSR. A total of 7938 units were created. technique of this model.

LuAZ-969A

The years of production of the car 969A from 1975 to 1979. This car had a soft top of the body (tarpaulin), which was easily removed. The tailgate was hinged. LuAZ-969M

The base for the manufacture of this cargo modification of the car was, of course, the model 1302. The all-wheel drive SUV has excellent cross-country characteristics. The engine was cooled by liquid, not air. In comparison with the base model, the wheelbase has increased by 0.5 m. The spare wheel is attached to the tailgate. This truck was very popular among the rural population.

LuAZ-1302-05 "Foros"

The car was presented to the public in Moscow in 1999 at the MIMS'99 exhibition. But, unfortunately, none of these beach jeeps ever saw the light of day in serial production. Only a few pieces were assembled on special order. "Foros" was developed on the basis of LuAZ 969. Its highlight was a 4-cylinder Italian diesel engine from Lombardini, with a capacity of 35 hp. Although the cost of "Foros" was quite acceptable, for that time, the management of the automobile plant could not find the funds to start the serial production of cars.

In conclusion, I would like to note that throughout the history of production by the Lutsk passenger car plant, each of the cars in the series has become a kind of masterpiece. It was at this enterprise that the first front-wheel drive car was produced. A beach jeep was developed here, however, they did not have time to launch it into mass production before the collapse of the USSR. The history of the enterprise began in 1951, when, after the issuance of the corresponding decree of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR, the construction of a repair plant began in Lutsk, which lasted four years. In 1959, the plant was retrained into a machine-building plant and received a new name Lutsk Machine-Building Plant (LuMZ). In addition, its specialization is changing: the production of car bodies, refrigerators, as well as other types of specialized automotive equipment was established.

In 1966, the first civil car of its own production, ZAZ-969V, was produced, which was an improved version of the famous Zaporozhets. With the beginning of the release of this model, a new branch of mechanical engineering appeared in Volyn - the automobile industry. On December 11, 1966, Lutsk Machine-Building Plant was renamed into Lutsk Automobile Plant.

In the period from 1966-1971. only front-wheel drive models LuAZ-969V left the factory assembly line, but already in 1971 the car was slightly redesigned: the drive became full, and the engine became more powerful. In 1975 Lutsk Automobile Plant formed an association with the largest automobile plant in Zaporozhye "Kommunar". In the same year, the serial production of LuAZ-967M vehicles begins, and the development of a fundamentally new, fourth, model continues.

In 1979, a new model with the index 969M was put on the conveyor, which compares favorably with previous models not only in exterior, but also in improved technical characteristics.

On September 22, 1982, the one hundred thousandth car rolled off the assembly line of the Lutsk Automobile Plant, and in April 1983 the export activity of the plant began.

In March 1990, delegations from the Swiss company Ipatko and the American company Chrysler came to the plant. As a result of the negotiations, agreements on cooperation were signed.

In 1990, the production of LuAZ-1302 began. Outwardly, it practically did not differ from its predecessor, and the main role in its popularization was played by a new engine. The 1302nd model was equipped with a 53-horsepower unit, which, moreover, became more reliable.

Also in 1990, a record number of cars in the history of the plant was assembled - 16,500 units. In 1992, by order of the General Director of PO AvtoZAZ, the plant was removed from the Kommunar association. The plant is being transformed from a state-owned company into an open joint-stock company OJSC "LuAZ".

At the same time, the plant begins to go through difficult times. Wages are delayed, leading to a sharp decline in production. The plant was in such an uncertain position until February 2000, when the management of the enterprise concluded a cooperation agreement with the concern "Ukrprominvest". According to this agreement, the assembly of VAZ cars began at the plant in Lutsk.

In April 2000, a tender was held for the sale of 81.12% of the shares of the Lutsk Automobile Plant, the winner of which was the concern Ukrprominvest (CJSC Ukrainian Industrial and Investment Concern). A month later, in the LuAZ shops that had stopped by that time, a SKD assembly of VAZs and UAZs was set up.

In 2002, the pace of assembly continued to increase: Izh cars were added to VAZs and UAZs, and later the assembly of Kia, Isuzu, Hyundai trucks began.

The driver's seat in the LuAZ 967 is located in the middle, and on the right and left, with some displacement back, there are two seats for passengers recessed into the platforms. HISTORY OF CREATION

The war in Korea (1949-1953), to which the Soviet Union supplied military equipment, showed a shortage in the armed forces of a light all-terrain vehicle for transporting the wounded, transporting ammunition, etc. GAZ 69, used at that time for these purposes, had too large dimensions, was clumsy, and on a field pitted with funnels, it often sat on bridges. It was then that the need arose to create a light amphibious all-terrain vehicle with a high suspension, suitable for transporting the wounded, preferably capable of dropping from aircraft.

The development of a new all-terrain vehicle was taken up by a special group in NAMI under the leadership of B.M. Fitterman (designer of the famous Soviet armored personnel carriers BTR-152). In 1958, the first prototype was made, which was named NAMI 049. The body was made of fiberglass, the role of the frame was played by the supporting base of the body. Suspension - independent torsion bar, trailing arms. The front axle was connected permanently, the rear was connected through a lockable center differential. The rear axle differential was also locked. The distance between the axles (base) was 180 cm. Wheel gears were used in the design, which increased the torque and increased the ground clearance to 28 cm for the loaded vehicle. The engine of the Irbit Motorcycle Plant MD 65 with a capacity of 22 hp was used in the design. But the running tests of the prototype revealed a number of shortcomings: the fiberglass body was not strong enough, and the engine was too weak.

Various prototypes of TPK, the latter was indexed ZAZ-967. For a long time we tried to bring the exhaust pipes forward in front of the hood ...

Specialists from the Zaporozhye plant joined the development of the second sample NAMI 049A. On the basis of the BMW-600 engine, the MeMZ 969 engine with a capacity of 30 (initially - 27) hp was developed. Instead of a fiberglass one, a steel case with a powerful frame was used. The center differential was abandoned, the rear axle became disconnectable. Plate torsion bars were replaced with forged ones, which allowed the suspension to withstand impact when landing on a parachute. Work was carried out on two versions of the machine - simple and floating. The military chose the second option. To solve the problem of transporting the wounded, the driver's seat was located in the middle, behind them - back to back - sat the orderly. The stretcher for the wounded was on the sides. ZAZ-969

The first version of a rural all-terrain vehicle intended for mass production at the Lutsk Automobile Plant based on TPK units. The design was developed by a team of MZMA specialists at the Kommunar plant based on the results of the Moskvich-415 design. Contrary to popular belief, it was never produced in Lutsk; a batch of 50 units was produced at the Zaporozhye plant in 1964. There was a version of the ZAZ-969V without a drive to the rear axle, but apparently it was not mass-produced at all. ZAZ-971

A kind of side branch of the development of the ZAZ-969, when the units from it and from the LuMZ-967 were used to create all-wheel drive vehicles based on the ZAZ-970. LuMZ-969V

An alternative version of the "969" model, developed in 1965 and produced since 1966 at the Lutsk plant. It went down in history as the first Soviet front-wheel drive car, since the capacities of the Lviv plant (the supplier of LuMZ) made it possible at that time to provide only army supplies of LuMZ-967 with sets of rear axles. For a number of machines, the checkpoint had a special shank for driving all kinds of agricultural machinery. It was produced for only about one and a half years. It was from him that the first popular name of this model came - "lumumzik".

LuAZ-969

After the elimination in 1971 (according to other sources - in 1969), the shortage of components for the rear axles, this model went into production, which was produced until 1975 and was already a completely all-wheel drive car. Due to the fashion that existed in those years for the creation of so-called "associations" LuAZ was combined with ZAZ and for some time the produced LuAZ passed according to documents as ZAZ-969 (not to be confused with ZAZ-969 of the 1964 model).

In the 1970s, on the basis of the LuAZ-967 (first three photos), the plant offered modifications to the amphibious weapon carrier for the Airborne Forces, an automatic grenade launcher (first photo), an ATGM complex (second photo) or a recoilless gun / easel grenade launcher ( third photo). Later, on the basis of the LuAZ-967M, a new modification was created, armed with a modernized AGS-17M (fourth photo) with an increased transportable ammunition - a kind of "grenade launcher cart".

LuAZ-969M

In 1979, the Lutsk Automobile Plant began serial production of the LuAZ-969M, an improved modification of the LuAZ 969A, the development of which began in 1974. This model is equipped, like its predecessor, with a 40-horsepower MeMZ-969A engine, however, it is equipped with a separate brake drive with a hydraulic vacuum booster on the front circuit. The exterior of the car was modernized thanks to a change in the front panels, the shape of the windshield was changed, the doors were equipped with locks, the door windows received a rigid frame and opening “vents”, a soft dashboard, a safety steering column and “Zhiguli” seats appeared in the cabin.

Even before the launch of the LuAZ 969M series, it was highly appreciated at the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the USSR, in 1978 at the international show in Turin (Italy) it entered the top ten best cars in Europe, and in 1979 at the international exhibition in Ceske Budejovice (Czechoslovakia) received Gold medal as one of the best cars for the villagers. LuAZ-2403

Airfield tractor based on LuAZ-969M. Almost the only serial version, originally designed for the use of the VAZ engine. ZAZ-2320

A variant of a dump truck based on the body of the LuAZ-2403 tractor, but with an engine, transmission and electrics from 969M. According to the owner, it was released by the plant in only four copies. A kind of alternative branch of development in relation to 13021, and in my opinion, it is actually more promising. LuAZ-969MF

A version of a cargo van based on the LuAZ-969M, the development of a failed cargo version based on the LuAZ-969, was produced in a limited series. Very often they are called simply LuAZ-969F, which is not entirely correct. Behind him in the photo is one of the first prototypes. LuAZ-1301(presumably created no later than 1982-83), which was essentially a deep restyling of the 969M model.

LuAZ-1302

After the modernization of model 969M carried out in 1988, a car with a new index LuAZ 1302 was equipped with 53 - strong four-cylinder engines from Tavria MeMZ 245-20 with water cooling, which on average reduced fuel consumption by 16% and significantly reduced noise. When designing the TPK LuAZ 967, a three-axle version of the amphibious transporter was also created on its basis in an experimental manner, but these cars did not go into production at that time. However, the idea was not forgotten and at the Kiev auto show SIA99 Lutsk Automobile Plant presented an all-wheel drive off-road vehicle LuAZ 1901 "Geologist".

The car is quite remarkable. Firstly, it is three-axle, and with a uniform placement of bridges along the base, which guarantees excellent cross-country ability. The car easily overcomes ditches up to 1.4 meters wide. And the independent suspension of all wheels, combined with ample overall length, ensures an exceptionally smooth ride over rough terrain. The car overcomes inclines up to 58% and is kept on a side slope of 40 degrees.

Secondly, this car is an amphibian. Water-propeller - traditional for Luazov all-terrain vehicles - the rowing effect of the wheels, providing a speed on the water up to 5 km / h.

An alternative prototype LuAZ-1301, developed in the Leningrad laboratory of NAMI by the Parfenov-Khainov group in 1988-1989. Under the integral hood (which folds back together with the fenders) hides an old acquaintance - the "Tavrichesky" MeMZ-245 engine. But the transmission is completely original. The gearbox is 6-speed, synchronized, and the first two gears are reduction. Since there is no center differential in the circuit, connecting the front axle is possible only in off-road driving mode. The car does not have a transfer case: the front axle drive is driven from the front end of the gearbox output shaft. An interesting feature is the constant velocity joints used in the drive not only of the front (independent, suspended on McPherson struts), but also of the rear wheels. The De Dion rear spring dependent suspension is also quite unusual for a jeep, where the final drive is fixed to the body through soundproofing elements. The powertrain, front suspension and final drive are a single unit mounted on a separate subframe. That is, all assembled mechanics can be rolled out from under the car without completely disassembling the body. For the body, a frame-panel structure was chosen, in which all loads are taken by a stamped steel frame, and the outer panels made of plastic are removable and do not affect the overall strength of the body. In addition to operational advantages (less susceptibility to corrosion, immunity to minor damage, maintainability), this solution provided some technological advantages. Plastic parts could be painted separately from the body, which made it possible to somewhat reduce the requirements for the heat resistance of plastic and the cleanliness of the surface of the stamped parts, and the modernization of the car during the production process was also simplified. The car interior is designed for four passengers of the so-called 95% percentile, that is, out of every hundred adults, 95 will find a comfortable position for themselves and only five will experience some discomfort. The split rear seats are designed to move their backrests up to 100mm forward, making the seats wide enough to accommodate three 50% percentile passengers. The other day the Lutsk automobile plant "Bogdan" (LuAZ), which today is officially called the Subsidiary "Automobile assembly plant No. 1" of PJSC "Automobile company" Bogdan Motors ", celebrated its 60th anniversary.

The history of this enterprise has known both ups and downs. During this time, he had to change his profile four times. But it was in Lutsk that the first front-wheel drive car in the USSR was produced, 15 years earlier than AvtoVAZ. And LuAZ has plenty of such achievements. But the main thing is that the plant continues to produce equipment today, to master new models and markets. What have these 60 years been like?

Start
Like the entire automotive industry of Ukraine, the Lutsk Automobile Plant takes its origins from the production and repair of agricultural machinery. In its place there were workshops for the repair of agricultural equipment.

The decree of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR on February 2, 1949 "On the reorganization of interdistrict capital repair workshops ..." becomes a turning point. In this document, the construction of a new plant was planned. In 1951, the first buildings began to be erected in Lutsk, and already on August 25, 1955, by order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Ukrainian SSR, the Lutsk repair plant was put into operation. In September, the first products were already released here, therefore, it is September that is considered to be the date of the start of the history of the plant.

At the beginning, the enterprise with a staff of only 238 people produces spare parts for GAZ-51, GAZ-63, used in agriculture, carries out their overhaul, manufactures products for the needs of the Ministry of Agriculture.

On September 3, 1959, the plant became a machine-building plant. His specialization is also changing. Now in Lutsk, bodies for GAZ-51 are produced, car shops, trailers, refrigerated trucks and special-purpose products, as well as body parts. With a gradual increase in space, the production program is also expanding. The production of automobile repair shops and small-tonnage refrigerators begins.

But 10 years after its foundation, the history of LuAZ is changing dramatically again. LuAZ owes its birth as an automobile plant to the war in Korea, the Irbit Motorcycle Plant (Ural motorcycles) and the Zaporozhye Kommunar Plant (ZAZ). The leading edge transporter (TPK or LuAZ-967) became an epoch-making model for LuAZ.

After the war in Korea, where equipment from the USSR took part, it became clear that the GAZ-69 SUV was too large and vulnerable for military operations. At the forefront, you need a completely different car, like the DKW Munga. Then in NAMI they create several prototypes. At the beginning, with a motorcycle engine, they wanted to produce it at the Irbit Motorcycle Plant, but such a car turned out to be too "raw". Then another prototype is planned to be produced in Zaporozhye, but due to a lack of production capacity at the young Kommunar automobile plant, they are looking for another production site. It was the finest hour for the Lutsk plant. In addition, at ZAZ, a civil version of the ZAZ-969 is also being developed and even the first experimental batch is being produced there, and then all the documentation is transferred to Lutsk. So, the car plant has two models at once.

The TPK was a purely army vehicle, in fact, a motorized trolley that can be parachuted, in addition to the driver, it can carry a couple of stretchers or six seated wounded, it does not exceed half a meter in height and has a four-wheel drive and a winch.

In addition, TPK is an amphibian that moves through the water due to the rotation of the wheels. Its tasks in the army were different: the removal of the wounded from the front edge, the supply of ammunition, the towing of light guns. The driver could control the TPK lying on the seat or even crawling, moving next to the car and barely holding the steering wheel. TPK or Luaz-967 is a unique car. It has no analogues, except for Steyr-Puch Haflinger. And so the success of the Lutsk Automobile Plant began with TPK. The transporter entered service with the USSR army in 1969, was used in the Airborne Forces and motorized rifle units, and was also supplied to the countries of the Warsaw Pact. It lasted on the assembly line until 1989 and would be relevant even today. Indeed, in the Ukrainian army, there are simply no forward-edge transporters now.

But in addition to the army transporter, the country needed a simple, unpretentious and very passable SUV, and even the cheapest one. It is being created in record time. In 1965, when the first small cars were produced in Zaporozhye, two bureaus were created in Lutsk at the department of the chief designer to develop technical documentation for the ZAZ-969 with all-wheel drive. In December 1966, the first 50 ZAZ-969V small cars were assembled at the plant. By design, it was as close as possible to the TPK, but already had a more civilized body with a canvas top. Despite the outward simplicity, it was a revolutionary car, ahead of its time by two criteria at once.

The first Soviet "front-wheel drive" or the era of "Volynyanka"
On December 11, 1966, by order of the Minister of the Automotive Industry of the USSR, the Lutsk Machine-Building Plant was renamed to the Automobile Plant and officially became LuAZ. In 1971, "LuAZ" was assigned a specialization in the production of passenger cars with increased throughput for the needs of agriculture and special-purpose vehicles. But LuAZ was serially producing cars already in 1967. Yes, and what! It was in Lutsk that they were the first in the USSR to produce front-wheel drive cars.

Yes, this fact was not widely advertised, but it is. Before the appearance of the VAZ-2108, ZAZ-1102 and Moskvich-2141 on the conveyor, it was even more than a decade and a half. And it turned out so, one might say, by accident. The fact is that the civilian LuAZ had a plug-in rear axle. By the beginning of serial production, the Melitopol Motor Plant did not have time to provide the new model with a rear axle gearbox, and therefore the LuAZ-969V series went with front-wheel drive, and the letter "B" (temporary) appeared in the model designation to distinguish the front-wheel drive modification from the all-wheel drive one. Until the early 1970s, more than 7,000 of such front-wheel drive LuAZ vehicles were made. Then the problems with the components were resolved, the car acquired four-wheel drive and its original index, LuAZ-969. But even in this version, it was possible to turn off the rear axle and the car became front-wheel drive.

The need for inexpensive off-road vehicles was so huge that in 1976 the company began reconstruction for the production of 50 thousand vehicles per year. At that time, LuAZ cost 5100 rubles and was the only SUV that was freely sold to the public. Neither GAZ-69 nor UAZ-469 were sold to civilians.

In 1979, a new model LuAZ-969M appeared on the assembly line, with a more modern design, a new dashboard. In addition, the modernization of the plant has already been completed and already on September 24, 1982, the 100-thousandth car rolls off the assembly line in Lutsk.

It should be noted that the LuAZ-969 was not only ahead of its time, but actually became the first mass-produced compact civilian B-class SUV in the world. Before the advent of the Suzuki Samurai, it was still over 20 years old. Meticulous historians will probably be able to give analogues of LuAZ, the same Italian Samas Yeti-903 or Austrian Steyr-Puch Haflinger, but they were produced in small quantities. And in Lutsk there was mass production. Now almost every manufacturer strives to have a B-class crossover in its range, and LuAZ had such a car already in the 60s.

True, here it is necessary to clarify that in those days the fashion for small SUVs in the world had not even been born. And at first, LuAZ did not even think about exporting. In April 1983, the first cars still go abroad through the all-Union firm "AutoExport". The debut was more than successful. Importers tried the inexpensive and unpretentious LuAZ-969M and began to promote it not only for farmers, but as a youth, beach SUV, an adventure car. The car went abroad under the name Luaz Volyn and received the nickname "Litlle UAZ"

For a youth SUV LuAZ lacked the power of a 40-horsepower engine, and local importers were the first to experiment with replacing the air-cooled MeMZ engine with foreign brands. For example, the Italian dealer Martorelli (which was also involved in the import of UAZs) offered LuAZ cars with 1.1-liter Ford engines. Already in the 90s, in Italy, even Lambordhini diesel engines began to be installed on LuAZ cars (not to be confused with supercars, these were motors from small tractors).

In the vastness of the USSR, the LuAZ-969M is gaining particular popularity in the countryside, among hunters and fishermen, due to its unique cross-country ability. What names were given to this SUV: "Volyn", "Bagpipe", "Volynets", "Volynianka", "Lunokhod", "Luntik". He could pass where the UAZs and Niva passed, and sometimes he could give odds to the UrALs. But the LuAZ-969M had a significant drawback - it was an air-cooled engine that overheated during long off-road driving and a very capricious "stove". And when the engine from "Tavria" MeMZ-245 with a capacity of 53 hp appeared under the hood. with liquid cooling, the popularity of "Volynianka" has increased again. This modification received the designation LUAZ-1302 and was produced until 2001.

Hope for LuAZ-1301
Back in the 80s, LuAZ was working on the next generation of the car. He is assigned the index 1301, and the modification of the old LuAZ-969 with the "Tavricheskiy" engine went into series earlier, although it had the following ordinal index 1302.

The designers endowed the LuAZ-1301 with unique properties. It was supposed to be the first car in the USSR with plastic body panels. It was still a unique SUV in cross-country ability, already with larger wheels, with a liquid-cooled engine and a rigid, not tarpaulin top.

The collapse of the USSR dashed all the plant's hopes. The new model does not have time to go into production, although it was almost ready. Army orders are falling sharply, exports disappear at once, with the appearance of used foreign jeeps on the Ukrainian market, the demand for outdated LuAZ trucks falls.

LuAZ designers in the 90s create an incredible number of modifications, trying to find a new market niche. Every year LuAZ pleased with either an extended modification 13021-04, or a LuAZ-13021 pickup truck or a van 13021-07, or a beach version of the LuAZ-1302-05 "Foros", even an ambulance for the countryside LuAZ-1302-08 was created. The plant begins to produce cars with a plastic roof, with various motors, and even began to install diesel units. But the volume of output declined from year to year, and inflation ate up all income. The plant actually stopped. It seemed to be a dead end.

But on April 14, 2000, the Ukrprominvest concern becomes the owner of 81.12% of the plant's shares and LuAZ begins the next stage. The new managers who have arrived feel the market conditions well, and in the same year they are launching an SKD assembly of popular VAZs and UAZs in Lutsk. The plant not only resumed the production of Volynianoks, but also assembled 648 UAZs, 2250 VAZ-21093 units in a year. The volumes are growing every year, and LuAZ becomes the largest car assembly plant in Ukraine, where at various times the assembly of VAZ-21093, VAZ-21099, VAZ-2107, VAZ-2104, VAZ-21213, UAZ-3160, UAZ-31514 was carried out, then separate Kia and Hyundai models are added, assembly of Hyundai HD-65 trucks begins. The plant is getting on its feet and is already thinking about launching its own model LuAZ-1301 into production.

In 2002, a prototype of a new generation of LuAZ-1301 SUVs was created in Lutsk. The car turned out to be quite successful and proved itself well during the tests. It still has a plastic body, a removable roof that easily turns an SUV into a convertible, a modern interior and a 1.2-liter engine from Tavriya-Nova. The owner of the plant is already calculating investments in the launch of mass production, and the designers of LuAZ present a whole range of modifications: a 5-door station wagon, a pickup truck, a medical car, a car for special services. It seemed that the LuAZ-1301 was about to go into production. The popular car website www.autoconsulting.ua even hosted a competition for the name of this SUV and its tuning options. A small experimental batch of LuAZ-1301 was also released. But the beginning of the 2000s was a time of low prices for Russian cars. For example, VAZ models then cost up to $ 4000, and were produced in hundreds of thousands. LuAZ-1301 needed to have a price tag even lower, and with small production volumes, this was not realistic to achieve.

On October 28, 2009 LuAZ officially changed its name and became known as the Public Joint Stock Partnership “Automobile Company“ Bogdan Motors ”(abbreviated as AT“ AK “Bogdan Motors”). A new era began again at the plant.

The era of urban transport
In June 2005, the board of directors of the Bogdan corporation made a strategic decision to replace the production facilities, which was later named Rokirovka. Thus, the production of the popular Bogdan buses was transferred from Cherkassy to Lutsk, and the production and assembly of cars - from Lutsk to Cherkassy. A new automobile plant with a capacity of 120-150 thousand cars per year is being built in Cherkassy, ​​and it would be more logical to concentrate all automobile projects around it.

LuAZ once again changes its profile and becomes a key bus plant for Ukraine. From June 2005 to April 2006, the plant creates conditions for the production of 1.5 thousand trolleybuses and buses per year. On April 6, 2006, OJSC "LuAZ" will present a new bus program and 300 additional jobs will appear at the plant. During the second stage of reconstruction, the enterprise creates up to 70,000 m² of indoor production space, and the production capacity increases to 4,000 buses and trolleybuses. Investment in production is $ 70 million. Now the former LuAZ is the largest manufacturer of urban transport in Ukraine. The plant is mastering the production of buses of all classes and trolleybuses of a large and especially large segment. New models are leaving its workshops, which can be seen today in almost every city of Ukraine.

And again the Lutsk plant "Bogdan" is becoming an innovator in Ukraine in a new role. It is here that the country's first diesel-electric hybrid bus is being built. "Bogdans" are breaking through to the European market as well. The plant, together with the Polish company Ursus, managed to win the tender of the city of Lublin and execute it ahead of schedule.

In 2014, the Bogdan A70100 electric bus was presented, and in 2015, the plant was the first in Ukraine to start producing buses of the Euro-5 A50232 standard with an Iveco engine.

The plant workers of Auto Assembly Plant No. 1 of Bogdan Motors PJSC are confidently looking into the future. For 60 years, the plant has completely changed the profile of its activities four times, and each time it achieved success. Moreover, the products of the Lutsk plant have always been in demand on the market. The uniqueness of the plant and the team is that a small number (for all the time 491 thousand cars were produced here) they manage to leave the brightest mark in history. And for this reason, there is always LuAZ in serious collections.
