Nissan Primera (P11) - description of the model. Reviews of Nissan Primera P11 owners

The second generation, produced in sedan, hatchback and station wagon bodies. Is upgraded model P10, which replaced the Nissan Bluebird.

Model History

Premiere updated Nissan An example took place at the end of 1995 in Japan, in the fall of 1996 it appeared in Europe. Like previous generation, this car was developed and produced in England, and had a very indirect relation to Japan. Main competitors new Nissan were so popular Ford Mondeo, Opel Vectra, Peugeot 405, Honda Civic, Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Lancer.

The appearance of the P11 was quite modern for its time, smooth lines and strict lines gave it a very solid look. Nissan Primera P11 was reliable and unpretentious, did not rust, like most of the "Japanese" of that time, in general, was good remedy movement for every day. The wagon version was roomy, the hatchback was practical. All this allowed the Example to become very popular both in Europe and in the post-Soviet space. The car was often taken as the first one, which is good to learn to drive and which is not a pity in the event of a minor accident.

In the fall of 1999, the model was restyled, the car with the designation P11-144 began to look more aggressive due to the changed shape of the headlights and a kind of “beak” that crowned the front of the updated Examples. Apart from external changes climate control and xenon headlights appeared in the list of car options.

In 2001, the second generation Nissan Primera was replaced by the third generation with the P12 index. This car, in turn, lasted on the market until 2007.

Technical features

Nissan Primera was equipped with two gasoline engines volume of 1.6 and 2.0 liters. There was also a version with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel. The P11 gave the European buyer a choice between a 5-speed "mechanics" and a traditional 4-speed "automatic".

Versions for Japanese market also equipped with a forced 2.0-liter engine with 190 hp. combined with a continuously variable automatic transmission.

Nissan Primera P11 was also produced in a version with permanent all-wheel drive and had the designation T4.

Comparison with competitors

Nissan Primera P11 - reliable, and, despite the British origin, true japanese car. A frisky engine, acceptable handling and comfort level, the strength of all components and assemblies make it perfect car for every day, both for a person who has just received the rights, and for anyone who needs nice car, not requiring special attention or worries. Ideal for Russian conditions. Plus, its price on the secondary is very low, and there are many worthy offers.

Compared to its main competitors (the aforementioned Ford Mondeo, Opel Vectra, Peugeot 405, Honda Civic, Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Lancer), the Nissan Primera P11 won in dynamics and reliability, had an all-wheel drive version and had a truly eternal body, comparable in strength only to With Volvo cars. While the “French” were already crumbling into dust, and other “brothers” from the Land of the Rising Sun were covered with red spots, there was not even a hint of corrosion on the “body” of the Primera. And, if the car was well cared for, it still does not appear.

In the US, Nissan Primera was sold under the name Infiniti G20 - more richly equipped, unlike the European version.

In New Zealand, a limited edition of this model was released under the name SMX with a stiffer suspension and aggressive aerodynamic body kit. The circulation of this series was only 24 copies.

In 1998, the RML P11 team won the BTCC British Touring Championship, and a year later the Nissan factory team won the Constructors' Championship in the same championship. In honor of this, it was even released special version car under the designation GTSE. They were equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels AZEV, the seats in the cabin were covered with leather, and the steering wheel and gear knob were replaced with Momo products. A GTLE version was also released with Enkei wheels and a full leather interior.

Numbers and awards

It was the Primera that became the 100,000th Nissan sold at Russian market. This happened in September 2005. At that time, the Primera was a real "hit" of the market: in the first 8 months of 2005, it sold 6,203 cars.

Notable automotive awards in the biography of the second Nissan generations There is no Primera, but this did not diminish its merits and competitiveness in the market.

Reviews of Nissan Primera P11 owners

Nissan Primera P11, 1997

What can be said here? Nissan Primera P11 is an excellent family car. Over the course of three years of operation, malfunctions never occurred, if we forget about the broken stabilizer struts, a burnt starter and a torn silent block, and not all at once. Driving on the highway is a pleasure. Especially compared to the 1999 Toyota Kaldina with a 2.0G engine: roll, roll in corners - you can forget about it. The engine deserves respect. The SR20DE is a real legend, not turbocharged, but the torque is quite decent. Naturally, the arrow will not be put down, but it develops speeds up to 150 kilometers per hour with confidence. Moreover, thanks to the LSD gearbox in combination with all-wheel drive, you will not be afraid of winter. You can drive anywhere. If you don’t sit on the “belly”, of course. In our city, with its peculiarities of relief, this is especially necessary. Space in the Nissan Primera P11 is more than enough. Of course, the driver could have been allocated a little more, although with a height of 190 centimeters I do not suffer from discomfort. I don’t want to dissemble about fuel consumption, in the city sometimes there are 16 liters per 100 kilometers, but the average consumption is 14-15 liters. But there is nothing to be surprised at, everything has its price: LSD and Full Time, no matter how.

Advantages : good engine, spacious salon, permeability.

Flaws : could not find a starter for the car.

Nissan Primera P11, 1998

I liked the car, good and reliable! I have been operating the Nissan Primera P11 for almost five years and during this time the car did not disappoint. I would like to commend him for good management and effective system brakes, and also for being easy to maintain and repair. The engine costs 1.6-liter for 90 hp. of course it lacks acceleration dynamics. From a traffic light, even a Zhiguli 10 starts faster than my Primera. But if you go quietly, then this power is enough. Average consumption I have 7 liters of fuel per hundred. I fill in the 92nd gasoline. The gears are quite long, which I think is good, because there is no need to constantly jump from one gear to another when driving around the city. Nissan Suspension The Primera P11 is quite stiff, but not hard enough to be uncomfortable. Irregularities on the roads "swallows" perfectly. In addition, the Nissan Primera P11 is very pleased with the stability on the road! Even when you go with high speed It feels like the car is on rails. And pleases with high-quality interior trim! No squeaks and "crickets". Sometimes it only creaks in severe frosts due to the fact that the plastic is very cold. The seat cushion is low. So the landing in the car is also low. My height is rather big - 196 cm, and so I get settled in the driver's seat with all the amenities. And yet, on back seat there is enough space for the passenger.

Advantages : landing in the cabin, handling.

Flaws : soundproofing.

Nissan Primera P11, 1999

I was looking for a car for about six months and then I came across this model and immediately realized that it was just made for me! Just looked at what a cool exterior the Nissan Primera P11 has and all sorts of Trade Winds bounced into the background. And this capacity, convenience and comfort of the cabin! It is in terms of Nissan design Primera P11 is even better than the next version, but that's how it seems to me. Satisfied with the work of the engine volume of 1.8 liters. I operate the car and do not add oil, enough of what is before MOT. Fuel "eats" according to the passport. I've also tried the car on the highway, where it can go at 190 kilometers an hour even when loaded to the brim. When driving at speeds up to 170 kilometers per hour, it is felt that the car's handling is just perfect, and then the mass of the car is felt. Climate control copes with its work in any weather. When the air conditioner is running, it does not appear at all on the operation of the motor. The disadvantages I will attribute the rigidity of the suspension. I feel every bump, every little bump that I pass on the road and I feel it through the way the pillars break through. FROM rear pillars similar problems do not arise. When I drive at a speed of 120 - 130 kilometers per hour, I feel how the antenna vibrates outside, buzzes and this is somewhat annoying and distracting. Decently spent time trying to adapt to the dimensions of the car. I can say that, even considering all these problems, I can say that I really like the car!

Advantages : capacity, comfort and convenience of the cabin.

Flaws : suspension stiffness.

Nissan Primera P11

Good day.

I have been reading reviews on this site for a long time and finally decided to write a review myself. Do not judge strictly - I write for the first time. I have been driving since the age of 18 (was 23) and after obtaining the rights I owned almost all models of front-wheel drive VAZs, but this is another topic. Finally selling another "swallow" I thought about buying a foreign car. I will say right away that it is not easy morally to transfer to a foreign car - stupid thoughts that the car will be older, spare parts and service are more expensive, and it will not be easy to find the right spare part. But I decided - I did not regret it. The budget at that time was max. 175 tr. - and came long hours surf the internet and view ads. I immediately apologize if I inadvertently offend someone's car, my opinion is subjective - you can not perceive it. So, KOREANS like Espera or Nexia are reliable and newer cars, but painfully retired: terrible gray plastic, seat fabric - ala old grandmother's sofa, so-so appearance ... GERMANS - good, but painfully expensive. I don’t want to give a lot of money for an empty golfiki III 93 years old, and a 90g trade wind. really old and too boxy (though reliable). Gelding and BMW for that kind of money - cars for the poor + the cost of repairs ... AMERICA. Mondeo 2 was considered a real option. I really liked the car - more modern appearance and interior, smooth ride, a lot of space in the cabin - in short, a lot of what I wanted to see. Now its cons: Mondeo 1 did not want to, but Mondeo 2 was not very good for this money. good condition- unpretentious equipment and most importantly - almost all have RUSTY through and through ARCHES ...... JAPAN. And now, in despair, I began to consider the Japs. I was the first to open ads with Nissan Primera and I immediately liked it:

1) This is a Jap - reliability.

2) Beautiful body and decent interior.

3) Price-year.

4) Equipment... Okay, enough lyrics - sorry, just emotions and memories.

So I became the owner of Nissan Primera 96g. (P11 body) original orange color.

Let's start with the appearance, although the taste and color .... Modern body shapes, predatory front bumper, rounded shapes, large doorways and a huge trunk, pretty feed. SALON. It is convenient to sit down - large doorways both in front and behind, although the car is low - you have to lean a little. Tidy: plastic - soft, does not creak and looks rich ... white instrument lighting - quite stylish ... everything you need is at hand (good ergonomics). I especially liked the seats (perhaps I had a luxury salon) - excellent lateral support, lumbar support, quite hard, you don’t get tired on the road. There is quite a lot of space in the back - large wheelbase. SUSPENSION. Very light steering wheel - you can turn it with 1 finger. Excellent speed keeps on the track. It is wonderful to steer - the suspension for active taxiing is perfectly tuned - it does not collapse in turns, it reacts sharply to steering movements, at speed the steering wheel becomes noticeably heavier. ELECTRIC. Options basic + condo, but sufficient: 2 pillows, ABS, steklopod, power steering. CONSUMPTION in the city is 8.5-10.5 depending on the driving style (8.5 - you drive like a grandfather), the highway is 7-8 (no less). DYNAMICS. This is not a plane, but for 1.6 and 90 forces it is very good (please do not compare with BMW, etc. Like my Lexus is faster ... etc.), the engine is low-boosted (idle 600 rpm) and very high-torque. To whom it matters - many times I raced with VAZ 2110 1.6 16-valve. - Nissan is not much, but it picks up speed more cheerfully - and this is true (although everyone writes on the Priora forums that it is the fastest in the world among 1.6 -HA-HA). BRAKES work very well, ABS and Nissan Break Assist work very well, only if you press the brake harder, the ABS crunches as if the car is about to fall apart - you have to get used to it. ENGINE - it's generally a plague. He is not killed - very successful, almost never breaks. Timing belt is not a belt, but a chain. Mileage 220 thousand, oil does not eat a drop, without capital and compression 14 in each cylinder - this is strength ....

The car was assembled not in Japan, but in England, someone considers this a minus, personally I don’t (not Togliatti, okay). BODY. The disadvantage of all Japs is a rather thin metal, and spiders climbed out on the arches, although I had a very lively version. But still better than AVTOVAZ (my father bought a new 10-ku from the passenger compartment - after 2 years the roof was rotten through and through and spiders on the hood and door frames). Due to some incomprehensible aerodynamics, the body is made in such a way that when driving along the highway, all the water from the side drains flows to the front side windows- you go and see nothing... SUSPENSION. It’s not for Russia - it’s super to steer, but it thumps on bumps in the back, this is not a disadvantage, but a feature of the car, you just need to get used to it. The clearance seems to be rather big - you don’t particularly cling to snowdrifts in winter, but a rather large base, as a result, you can’t drive onto the overpass. The front doors sag, although this is a disease of all cars. SALON. The car is low, climbing you need to bend a little more. Power steering is the trouble of everyone. An example, be sure to look when buying. I have GUR tech for a year. In the cold, the trunk lock jams, how strange it is useless to clean it, I cleaned it 2 times, after 2 weeks the same garbage - the trunk does not close. CLUTCH is not the most reliable. For me, it was 75% eaten, therefore it was not clear on. transmission. MUFFLER - its parts are not screwed, but welded - very inconvenient. NOISE - IT LIKE TO IS, BUT LITTLE. The arches do not have it at all, and on the bottom there is a thin "drape coat". I made Shumka myself: summer, beer, 2 days of work (thanks to a friend helped), Shumka from 2110 and here it is comfort. The rear regular speakers are not very good - I just like it very much, so I changed it

Now let's talk about operation. this car. I have to say, the car is very reliable and unpretentious. Spare parts - if you do not take all the original, then not so expensive. I have had the car for 1 year.

1) I changed the oil and filter - filled it with semi-synthetics - it worked like a Zhiguli.

2) petrol filter regular - 70r. Air - 150 rub.

3) I began to hook up the plug - I thought to drive onto the overpass, tighten the connection bolts, I looked, but they weren’t there - everything rests on welding, they welded it in the garages for 400 rubles and it’s like new.

4) The front upper right lever started creaking - injection did not help. I went to the service, the master looked and gave me the number 3t.r. for work and was immediately sent to hell. I drove into a regular service - 600r. But summer is in the yard and my father and I decided to try it ourselves - without a repair book, and having no experience in repairing foreign cars, with ordinary tools, etc. Everything about everything took 2 hours. Everything turned out to be very simple and having hands from there you can repair it yourself. And the most interesting thing is that this lever turned out to be native, i.e. still factory (the car is 11 years old) - all the masters to whom I showed it were then shocked. And by the way the lever costs 800r.

5) The car started to warm up in traffic jams, the result - I changed the antifreeze, everything was taken off like a charm (I don’t know who and what was poured there) - 600r. - I changed it myself.

6) Something began to thump strongly in rear suspension, total - 1 shock absorber (but changed a pair) and a support. Shock absorbers for 1100 pieces, support - 2000 rubles. Regarding the support - at the service, these dogs said that only the shock absorber was killed. And when I gave the car to the service, they told me that it was 2 hours and everything was OK, then they called and said that the support had also died (it was drunk - it fell apart from old age into 2 parts), I called the store: non-original 500 rubles, but it ended, there is only the original - 2000r, I had to take it.

7) Changed the front pads - 800r.

When choosing a car, everyone wants to buy at the same time comfortable, reliable and unpretentious car. Motorists respond very well to Japanese stamps, in particular about the car "Nissan-Primera R11". Photo and review of the car - later in our article.

Characteristic

It is worth noting that the "Example" is a whole family that has been produced in several generations. In our case, the P11 body is the second generation. The car was restyled once (this is the Nissan Primera R11-144). Incidentally, in the US this car sold under the name "Infiniti G20". The model featured a different grille and rear optics. Design elements were borrowed from the Nissan Camino. American version"Nissan" was distinguished by a different, richer level of seats. Instead of velor and fabric, there was leather trim, heated seats, mirrors and cruise control.

Also note that there were modifications with all-wheel drive. There were three bodies in total:

  • Sedan (the most popular in Russia).
  • Hatchback.
  • Universal.

Well, let's take a closer look at this car.

Design

The appearance of the car is very calm and devoid of aggressive forms.

At the same time, the pre-styling Nissan Primera R11 looks modern even in 2017, despite the fact that the car is 20 years old. Japanese "Nissan" has a fairly simple optics, bumper and at the same time, it can not be called "vegetable". With a little tuning (and this is the GT package), the car takes on an aggressive and sporty look.

It is also necessary to note the restyled model 144. It appeared in 1999. The car has changed the hood, bumper, optics and grille. Now the forms have become more "licked".

Some owners liked the pre-styling body. Now the car has a similar appearance to the Nissan Maxima of the same years (the characteristic "cat's face"). But in addition to the appearance in modification 144, the set of options was also changed. Now there are many more:

  • Lensed xenon optics.
  • Headlight washers.
  • 15 inch alloy wheels.
  • Climate control instead of air conditioning.
  • Rear window wiper.

Body dimensions are standard for a D-class car. So, the length of the car is 4.43 meters, width - 1.715, height - 1.41 meters. Ground clearance is 16 centimeters. Due to the long overhangs, it is clearly not enough. In winter, it often clings to the bottom. And if you get into a deep puddle, you can catch and Therefore, this car is not friendly with bumps. It is necessary to freeze well before each bump. And for greater confidence, motorists put additional metal engine protection.

Salon

The interior of the car looks very decent. The interior is devoid of frills and pathos, at the same time it is very comfortable and functional, the owners say. By the way, on sports version GT used other finishing materials. Instead of velor, the interior was sheathed in black and gray fabric. The driver's seat is a bit low, but visibility is good. good level. Steering column has height and reach adjustment, and in any trim levels.

But the steering wheel was different depending on the level of equipment of the Nissan Primera R11 car. Basic version equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel, and more expensive ones with a three-spoke one. Owner reviews note wide range seat adjustments. So, the pillow has two adjustment positions, and the lumbar support - as many as three. The headrest is also adjustable (mechanically), but only in height. The seats are very comfortable, with pronounced lateral support rollers and moderately hard. AT long trips you don’t get tired in them, the owners say.

It should be noted the voluminous trunk in the car "Nissan-Primera R11". In the sedan body, its volume is 450 liters. As for universals, here this indicator equal to 465 liters. In addition, it can be expanded by adding rear backrests seats. By the way, the latter are added in a ratio of 60:40. The trunk is equipped with a stack-holder with four attachment points and a hook for bags. The car copes well with the transportation of bulky goods.

Specifications

Were different engines, with which the Nissan Primera R11 was equipped - a diesel engine (one, with a volume of 2 liters for 90 forces) and several gasoline ones. So, among the latter, it is necessary to note the 1.6-liter unit per 100 Horse power With port injection fuel. There was also a two-liter mono-injector. He developed 35 "horses" more than the previous one. It is also necessary to note the modification of the Nissan Primera R11 SR20DE.

This is a two-liter engine that developed 140 horsepower. It was installed on the "Example" with Judging by the reviews, the engine range is different high reliability and good resource. At timely replacement oil "Nissan-Primera R11" (including 1.8) did not require repair for 400 thousand kilometers.

Transmission

There were two versions of gearboxes that were installed on the Nissan Primera. This is a five-speed "mechanics" and automatic transmission into four steps. Reviews note problems with synchronizers on manual transmissions. Fifth gear was difficult to engage. Concerning automatic box, then it does not cause problems to owners, provided that the oil is changed every 60 thousand kilometers. The only downside- the price of lubricant is very high. Otherwise, the resource of the boxes is comparable to the life of the engine itself.

Safety

"Nissan-Primera R11" is one of the lineup. The machine is equipped with front and side airbags, electronic (Brake Assist system).

Also, the car is equipped with ABS, which helps the driver to slow down as effectively as possible, excluding skidding. On the sports version of the Nissan Primera P11 GT car, disc brakes"in a circle", and ventilated, with a diameter of 28 centimeters. In the second generation, the main brake cylinder and vacuum booster. The car is as safe as possible for the driver and passengers, as well as for pedestrians.
