Condensation collects in the inside of the headlight how to fix it. Why headlights sweat and how to fix it. Consequences of fogging optics from the inside

Fogging of the glass of car headlights gives a lot of anxiety to the owner of the car - after all, moisture deposited on the inner surface of the glass significantly weakens the strength of the light beam. As a result, there is no big difference whether the headlight is dirty on the outside or it fogged up on the inside - at dusk, when the eyes have not yet adapted to the change in lighting after the day, driving becomes torture for them.
What to do if the headlight sweats and how can you get rid of this unpleasant phenomenon?

This happens due to the ingress of moisture into the headlight housing. This could have been completely avoided by making the headlamp sealed. But such a solution to the issue would inevitably lead to an increase in the cost of the lighting device, and, most importantly, to the inconveniences that arise when servicing the headlight - eternal electric lamps are not yet produced.

Sweating new headlights

Misted new headlight

If the air valve in the headlamp is clogged, this can lead to the accumulation of condensation in it.

Modern block headlights are undoubtedly the most isolated from the atmosphere and their design provides for valves to remove the air that has expanded as a result of heating from the body of the device. But, firstly, the valve can become clogged, and, secondly, the vacuum created as a result of subsequent cooling will facilitate the intake of air from the outside. And in the air there is inevitably water vapor. And here such "semi-tightness" will lead to the accumulation of condensate in the headlight housing - after all, due to the lack of ventilation, it will not be able to evaporate.

Because of what else the headlight sweats

In the event that the car is not new, this happens due to the ingress of water from the outside. The reasons may be cracks in the housing, and loose seals of the rear headlight covers (or rubber "caps"), and partially peeled glass.
Also, microcracks may appear in the glass of the headlight, which cannot be noticed.
It happens that a new headlight fogs up due to poor assembly. This is especially true for Chinese products. In general, when buying a non-original headlight for a foreign car, get ready for various surprises and inspect the product in the store.
... Workers of one body shop were speechless when they installed a new headlight on a car. The owner of the car, deciding to save money, bought a product made in China. The manufacturer found an original technological solution, making an imitation of the lens, making it in the form of a spherical bulge, painted with "silver" together with a reflector. The headlight housing did not even have holes for the lamps.
Pay attention to the workmanship of the lamp holders and the material from which the contacts are made. Use an old headlamp as a reference. One owner, having won 1000 rubles on the purchase of a Chinese lantern, "got" in a couple of months to paint the trunk lid and rear wing - the wiring inside the lantern, assembled by "golden" hands, caught fire. A good reaction and a working fire extinguisher helped out.
... In general, the water that got inside is the only answer to the question of why the headlights sweat, how to eliminate such a nuisance, we will tell further.

How to fix sweating headlights

Repair of fogged headlights

You can check the headlamp for leaks using a smoke generator.

First of all, you need to identify the place where moisture seeps into the inside of the case. This is best done by removing the flashlight from the car. Sometimes the spot where the headlight "leaks" can be installed by cleaning and washing it thoroughly.
If visual inspection did not give anything, you can fill the headlamp with water, or, conversely, immerse it in a bath. But it would be best to use it - then it is easier to dry the lantern after repair.

Glass replacement

It is unnecessary to tell how to repair a crack in the case, if it is the cause of fogging - any method will work here - from soldering to gluing.
But we will dwell on the replacement of cracked glass in more detail. If the headlight has "normal", that is, mineral glass, then it must be changed if it is cracked, or removed from the headlight and glued again - if water gets through a loose seam.
In any case, the surfaces to be glued must be thoroughly cleaned and degreased. Glasses on headlights are most often glued to silicone sealant, but, unfortunately, this is not entirely correct - silicone tends to absorb dirt over time and collapse. It is best to glue the glass onto a body sealant. Moreover, it is not necessary to purchase the most expensive one - polyurethane. For gluing glass to the headlamp, a more budgetary one is also suitable - for example, from the "Body" company.
If you do not have a sealant gun, you can squeeze it out of the tube by pressing on the bottom of the tube with a wooden object - the handle of a hammer, for example. When applying sealant, make sure that it lies in an even layer and without "gaps" - they can cause fistula formation. Secure the glass to the headlamp with masking tape and leave to dry.

Crack repair

Repair of cracked headlights

If the headlight diffuser is made of plexiglass, then the crack in it can be soldered, followed by grinding and polishing.

If the headlight diffuser is made of plexiglass, then the crack in it can be soldered. Of course, it will not be possible to completely remove the traces of such repairs, but still it is better than driving with a crack until the reflector fades, while frequently changing the bulbs.
Plexiglas can be soldered with a heat gun ("hair dryer"), or with a simple soldering iron. The resulting seam can be processed with coarse sandpaper, fixed on a straight bar.
Successively changing the sandpaper, make sure that the glass at the place of repair becomes dull, after which it will be quickly polished for you at the nearest body shop.
Change the sandpaper according to this principle: starting from the 100th, increase its number after 100 units, after the 500th - after 200 units. Each subsequent sheet will remove the scratches left by the previous one. After the 600th or 800th number, you can already.
You can also try to seal the glass from the inside if, for example, the taillights are sweating - here its transparency is not so important. But the most patient car owners even manage to restore the taillights from pieces, gluing them together with dichloroethane. In such cases, traces of repair are practically invisible.
If water remains in the headlamp after repairs, you need to thoroughly dry it - best of all with a hairdryer, but you can also use regular bulbs by turning them on.

What to do if fog lights sweat

Foggy fog lamp

Moisture often enters the foglights through the entry points of electrical wires.

"Fog lights" are most often installed either under the front bumper, or in the lower part of it. Therefore, sometimes even a well-made case does not save from water getting into them - moisture can seep through the entry points of the wires. To protect themselves as much as possible from it, car owners go to different tricks - they even put on suitable anthers from CV joints on the headlights.
The only advice is to monitor the condition of the plastic covers installed between the front bumper and other parts - wheel arches, crankcase protectors, etc.
Alternatively, the use of silica gel is also allowed - but in the main headlights it can interfere with the operation of the mechanisms by which the angle of inclination of the reflector changes.
True, you can also use the old driver's way - pour some brake fluid into the headlights. It has good hygroscopicity, that is, the ability to absorb water. But the brake fluid itself can contribute to the formation of an opaque coating on the glass. Here, as they say, choose the evil that seems to you the least.

Fogging headlights on a car is not an uncommon phenomenon. However, its occurrence leads to bewilderment among car owners and, naturally, to serious concern. And this is justified, because the high humidity in the headlight itself can cause a number of problems, for example, the formation of corrosion and damage to various metal parts and electrical wiring. For this reason, the problem with fogging headlights must be fixed as soon as possible.

Consider all the options for the occurrence of unnecessary moisture on the headlights and how to get rid of it.

Headlights fog up: causes and elimination

Let's try to figure out what headlight fogging is. This is nothing more than condensation, that is, small drops of water that settle from the cold outside air on the headlamp glass when it comes into contact with the warmer indoor air. This problem occurs most often at low temperatures outside, that is, in the winter and autumn seasons, or in the spring.

The headlights are considered to be completely sealed. In fact, this is not entirely true. Here you need to know the structure of car headlights. Their design prevents water from entering if it rains. But it does not impede free air exchange at all. For this purpose, there are even small holes in the headlights with special plugs.

Over time, the material of the plugs, which should be elastic and fit snugly, gradually shrinks. This is how moisture begins to penetrate into the interior of the device. At first, this is completely invisible to the car owner, especially while the weather is warm outside and the temperature inside the headlight and outside is about the same. However, when it gets cold, condensation on the glass is inevitable.

Can this flaw be corrected? Yes! This requires:

  • Provide adequate ventilation inside the headlamp.
  • Dry all moisture completely.
  • Seal the cracks with a special sealant.

For this purpose, the plugs are removed from the headlight openings, and the lamps are left on for a short period of time. Headlights heated in this way dry out rather quickly, and condensation is completely eliminated. Then it remains only to check them for possible cracks and damage, and to seal the poorly adjoining body elements.

Taillight problem

The taillights sweat for the same reasons as the front ones. Most often this occurs after washing the body or during the rain.

The fogging of the taillights is also possible in dry weather. This occurs as a result of the interaction between the low temperature outside and the warm air coming from the car interior.

What is the threat of fogging of the taillights? It:

  • Oxidation of contacts and problems with electrical connection.
  • Rapid corrosion of the metal reflector.
  • Risk of burning out electrical wiring.
  • Frequent burnout of a light bulb.

In almost all cases, the inner surface of the headlamp is susceptible to fogging. If the glass is covered with moisture from the outside, it dries quickly.

Headlights sweat from the inside: how to fix it?

Regardless of the car model, fogging of the headlights is eliminated in the same way. The instruction is as follows:

  • Step 1. Disconnect the wires going to the headlamp, remove the hydraulic corrector, if any. Remove the bulbs and then the headlight housing itself.
  • Step 2. Clean the headlamp housing from all contamination. Examine it for chips, cracks, or other damage that compromise the tightness. Often, gaps appear in the headlamp between plastic and glass elements. Below, in the case, there are drain holes for ventilation. They need to be cleaned as they also become contaminated during operation.
  • Step 3. Dry the headlight well. Then you need to coat all its joints with a sealant. The old filler at the junction of glass and plastic must be removed, degreased and applied with a layer of new sealant. All actions are carried out carefully to avoid the ingress of sealant on other elements - glass, reflector, contacts or swivel mechanism.
  • Step 4. After the headlight is assembled, it must be kept in a dry and well-ventilated place for at least 24 hours. Only then can the headlight be installed in its place.

Fogging of headlights from the inside is not such a harmless phenomenon as it seems at first glance, when steam and moisture accumulate on the optics glasses, the road lighting becomes worse in the dark, and accordingly, the safety level of the driver and passengers in the car decreases.

Often car owners ask a question - if the headlight sweats, what to do in this case? In this article, we will consider the causes of fogging in automotive optics, possible methods of eliminating this problem.

Why do car headlights sweat from the inside?

The headlight often fogs up in wet weather or after a car wash. Moreover, this phenomenon does not depend on the mileage of the car, the headlights inside can be wet even on a practically new car. A car headlight (taillight) is an enclosed space in which as the temperature rises from the incandescent lamp, the internal pressure also increases. To prevent excess pressure from creating, there are special valves in all automotive optics.

The task of the valves is to let air in and out of the optics, while dust, dirt and water should not fly into it. In the evening, after a trip in the off-season, the headlight cools down, the pressure in it decreases, moist air gets inside through the valve. Moisture condenses on the glass and the optics fog up. This is okay if the moisture evaporates quickly after the car warms up and starts moving. But the condensate does not always go away, and then it already gives the car owner a lot of problems. The most common cause of the defect is loose caps from the ventilation valves, in which case the optics need to be repaired. Also, moisture can penetrate the headlamp through a barely noticeable crack in the glass or in the case - if condensate lingers in the optics for a long time, it must be repaired.

Ways to eliminate fogging headlights

There are several ways to eliminate fogging of headlights in a car, it all depends on what kind of defect is detected in the optics. If a crack is found on the case, it must be soldered with a soldering iron or hair dryer, you should know that in this case it will not work:

  • glue the crack with glue;
  • patch up the defect with tape or adhesive tape.

For the manufacture of the headlight, special ABS plastic is used, which cannot be glued.

Glasses are often glued to the headlamp on a silicone sealant, over time the sealed layer sags, and moisture gets into the optics through small gaps. To eliminate the defect, in this case, the glass should be removed and a new layer of sealant should be laid.

If the reason for the fogging of the lantern is a ventilation valve, it is necessary to eliminate the defect - to clean the valves from water and dirt, to provide air ventilation. Unfortunately, valves for headlights are not sold separately, so you have to deal with their restoration.

There are several popular ways to combat fogging of automotive optics, car owners fix the problem like this:

  • place a bag of silica gel in the headlight housing (the substance absorbs moisture well);
  • pour a little brake fluid into the optics.

Each of the methods has its own side effects, because of the brake fluid glass becomes cloudy, silica gel over time swells from water and can damage one of the elements inside the structure.

In some cases, fogging of headlights is a design flaw, but car manufacturers are aware of this and take all measures to combat the unpleasant phenomenon. For example, Kia regularly installs silica gel containers on some models, a similar Kia Sorento headlight can be seen in the photo below.

Fogging headlights on Priora

Optics sweat very often on Lada Priora cars, the problem occurs almost on every second car. The reason for the defect is that the back cover does not fit too tightly to the body, because of this moisture penetrates into the optics. To fix the problem, you can try replacing the rubber seal. But still, the main cause of the defect is poor ventilation; it is necessary first of all to pay attention to the ventilation valves.

Here is one of the ways how you can deal with fogging of the headlights on the Prior, it is better to do this in warm (hot) sunny weather:

  • we install the car with optics on the sunny side;
  • remove the back covers from the headlights;
  • we warm up the insides of the optics with an ordinary hair dryer;
  • calcine the silica gel in a frying pan, pack it in a cloth, place it in the case so that then it can be easily reached.

It is necessary to look after silica gel, and change the bag when it swells.

Elimination of defects in the rear lights Lada Granta

On the Lada Granta car, as well as on Kalina, the taillights often sweat in winter, and in the summer they are filled with insects and dust. How can you deal with such an unpleasant phenomenon?

Consider eliminating the defect on the Grant's car:

  • disconnect the protective cover in the trunk, disconnect the power from the optics, remove the taillight (it is fastened with three nuts for 8);

  • thoroughly wash the glass, place the lantern in a bath of water, add two or three drops of Fairy for washing dishes;
  • after rinsing, let the plastic dry thoroughly;

  • put the flashlight in place, take a bag of silica gel, attach it to the back of the optics, for example, between the wires;

  • we seal the lantern - we glue the back with tape;

  • put the plastic in place, close the lantern with a plastic plug. After the work done, the lanterns should not fog up for a long time.

Headlights fogging on Hyundai Solaris

Headlights fogging can occur on any car model, and Hyundai Solaris is no exception. It's okay if the optics sweat in damp weather, and 5-10 minutes after turning on the light, the condensation from the glasses disappears. If Hyundai Solaris is under warranty service, with a strong defect in many cases, official dealers change optics under warranty, but often car owners have to solve this problem themselves.

As the mechanics explain, the headlight sweats because the headlamp glass is displaced on its plane due to the vibrations of the car, air and moisture enter the optics body through the joints and irregularities of the sealant. To eliminate the defect, it is necessary to remove the headlight, dismantle the glass, and re-glue it with silicone sealant.

If the headlight fogs up, and you need to go urgently, we use the method:

  • open the back case cover on the headlight;
  • turn on the high beam;
  • wait until the condensation from the glass disappears.

In many cases, this method helps, and the owner of the car can go on the road in the dark. If this method does not work, you can try, with the rear covers removed, to warm up the inside of the headlight with a regular hair dryer.

Eliminate fogging of front optics on a car Ford Focus 3

It is worth noting that the headlights usually do not fog up in front of the lamps, most often condensation appears on the glass below. On a Ford Focus 3, moisture accumulates most of all in the area of the turn signal, let's consider how you can eliminate the defect here.

We purchase a corrugated door wiring, a standard nylon tie. We carefully make a hole in the lower ebb of the turn signal, use a soldering iron, since when drilling the chips will get into the inside of the case.

We fake holes on the sides of the low tide, install a screed in them.

We put on a corrugation on top, inside we fill it with padding polyester.

That the corrugation did not dangle, we pull it with another tie to the body.

We got a new ventilation hole next to the turn signal, and now the glass on the headlight will not fog up.

Clogged ventilation holes

Each headlight must be equipped with a ventilation hole, which plays the same role as a breather in an engine or gearbox for relieving excess pressure from crankcase gases. If the valve becomes clogged, the formed condensation cannot escape from the confined space, it is deposited in the form of fogging on the headlight glass. To prevent the optics from sweating, these valves need to be cleaned periodically.

On modern cars, there are usually two or three valves in each headlight, the location of the ventilation ducts depends on the car model.

Outside, the plastic rounds look like plugs, but in fact, there are channels here.

Most often, dirt clogs the ventilation ducts and enters the headlight at the bottom, which is why the optics become dirty and the glass fogs up.

To protect the optics from dirt entering from the road, it is necessary to install front fender guards. If the headlights sweat, additional ventilation ducts should be drilled, but it is better not to do them at the bottom. It is convenient to install the valves in the rear covers, in this case you do not have to drill the headlight itself.

Clouded headlights

During operation, auto headlamp glasses can not only fog up, but also become cloudy, because of this, the optics do not shine so brightly, which also affects traffic safety. Plastic glasses can lose their appearance for various reasons:

  • the outer surface of the headlight is wiped with a dry cloth (this cannot be done);
  • dust and sand flies from the road on the glass, as a result, small scratches form on the glass surface, yellowness appears;
  • glass pieces fade from time to time, natural aging occurs, and the glass also burns out under the sun's rays.

To return the glasses to their normal appearance, they are polished. After polishing, the headlamp will not look like new, but its light transmission will increase. If the glasses are inexpensive and sold separately, it is easier to replace them than to polish them. The optics are polished with the help of special polishing pastes, first, they are processed with a coarse-grained compound, then with a fine-grained paste.

Drivers often do not pay much attention to the phenomenon of fogging headlights, each time postponing repairs until tomorrow. However, a fogged headlight is a serious enough problem that can lead to serious consequences. In the article, you will learn how to repair a lighting device with your own hands, without contacting a service station.

Why does the headlight sweat from the inside

Already from the problem it is clear that the cause of fogging is condensation. Water molecules trapped inside the light device heat up and turn into steam. Then the saturated vapor is transformed into droplets of water that settle on the surface of the headlight. As a result, the question arises, how does water get into hermetically sealed headlights? In fact, the lights are not tightly closed. The fact is that during the operation of the headlights, the air expands as a result of heating. To reduce pressure, manufacturers install a non-return valve in the headlights through which heated air exits. Thus, water molecules get in.

Also pay attention to the sealant that connects the shades to the base of the headlights. It may have lost its airtight properties. Moreover, this can be both a hole visible to the human eye and microscopic gaps. Water can penetrate almost any crevice. This reason for the breakdown is part of the place to be in cars from the Middle Kingdom and Soviet "classic" cars. If you sin on a sealant, go over the seams with silicone. You can buy a can at any car dealership.

And another reason for fogging is a cracked ceiling. As in the case of headlamp depressurization, the chip can be very small and can only be detected with the help of special lighting devices.

Do I need repair if the headlights fog up?

The consequences of heavily misted headlights can be as follows:

  • due to insufficient illumination of the road, an emergency may arise;
  • water that has penetrated the wiring of the headlights can provoke lamp failure, as a result of which you may be left without any lighting fixtures at all. In addition, a short circuit is possible, and the car will be left without as a whole.

Thus, it is not worth postponing repairs if you do not want to face the above-described "surprises".

Drivers and mechanics have noticed that fogging of headlights is most often observed in middle-class cars, especially Russian-made ones. It is unlikely that you will hear Bentley or Ferrari owners complaining about this issue.

Why does this happen? The answer is simple: only original products are used in expensive machines, product quality is strictly controlled, all parts are perfectly matched to each other, new technologies and standards are applied in production. Of course, among inexpensive cars there are quite high-quality models.

The easiest headlight fogging solution

Before starting to repair fogging headlights, you should understand the causes of the problem. If there is no time to "puzzle", you can use the universal "dry" method of eliminating condensation.

How to dry a fogged headlight

The dry heating method is relevant in the event that the headlight sweats from time to time, and not constantly.

  1. Remove the light fixture cover.
  2. Use a screwdriver to loosen the lamp fasteners, and then slightly unscrew them from the socket.
  3. After turning on the dipped beam, leave the car for an hour and a half so that the bulbs have time to "warm up".
  4. Then put the headlights back together.

If, after such a repair, condensate reappears, you will have to resort to other ways to fix the problem.

First, make a complete inspection of the headlights, including the seams and surface of the shades. If you find any gaps and cracks in the seams, you need to use a silicone sealant sold in cylinders in almost any automotive store. Such a tool lasts much longer, and application does not require special skills and abilities. There are times when it is impossible to see the gaps without special devices, for example, optical or laser. You will have to contact a master for.

With cracks on the plafonds, the situation is much more complicated: it is unlikely that it will be possible to repair the damage with silicone. In most cases, a complete replacement of the plafond is indispensable. Although there are other methods of solving the problem:

  • you can achieve the tightness of damaged plafonds by taking a grinder with a soft nozzle. The edges of the cracks seem to "catch" each other;
  • you can also resort to synthetic transparent formulations sold in the same stores as silicone. These do not interfere with the penetration of the light beam, are easy to apply, dry relatively quickly and do not allow water to pass through. Of course, if the headlight is processed incorrectly, then there will be no effect.

How to get rid of fogging headlights permanently

The headlight fogging problem can be solved in two ways:

  • treat the headlamp with a sealant, and then polish it;
  • buying a new plafond.

If you have processed and polished the seams with the surface of the shades, and the fogging does not disappear anywhere, most likely the water gets from inside the car. In this case, you have to perform a long and painstaking work to seal the lighting devices from the inside. If you do not have experience in such a repair of lighting devices, it is recommended to take the car to a service station. In addition, special equipment is required.

What to do if fog lights sweat

"Experienced" auto mechanics advise some drivers to "domestic" ways to eliminate fogging headlights. So, a light device can be filled with brake fluid, which tends to attract water molecules. However, this product can also attract dirt particles. As a result, an opaque film of dirt and debris will form on the headlamp cover.

You can also buy silicone gel, and, pinch off a little, place it inside the light device. Such a substance absorbs moisture well, but it also has a drawback - the material expands. The silicone gel may swell enough to obstruct light penetration. And this, in turn, can cause an accident.

Headlights fogging - warranty case

As a rule, most problems with fogging headlights are due to non-compliance with certain standards in production. If you notice a similar problem on a new car, and at the same time did not previously "fit" the headlights into curbs, poles, etc., you can file a claim with the manufacturer. We are obliged to eliminate the defect during the warranty period completely free of charge. Of course, the company will carry out an examination before the repair. Suddenly, you are the culprit of the fogging.

Any car optics has a special ventilation system and it is through such channels that water easily gets into the headlight. To quickly eliminate fogging of the optics, you need to do regular drying. To do this, it is recommended to open the hood of the car for 30 minutes after washing the car. But if the optics of your car sweat for a long time, then this may serve as a signal that your headlamp unit is faulty. In this article we will try to figure out why headlights sweat and what to do to fix this issue.

How to improve the headlights in the car, I advise.

So what makes the headlight sweat?

  • The plastic housing of automotive optics is cracked or damaged.
  • The sealant connecting the glass surface of the headlamp to the body has collapsed.
  • The tightness at the wiring site is broken.
  • Small cracks in the glass;
  • Clogged ventilation ducts that circulate air in the headlamp.

We must not forget that all these malfunctions can lead to only one thing - the tightness of automotive optics will be broken. But depending on the source of fogging on the inside of your headlamp, there are different ways of what to do in this situation.

What can happen if your headlight fogs up from the inside.

  • If moisture constantly accumulates inside, this can lead to the creation of the so-called "lens effect". As a result, the efficiency of the side lighting can be drastically reduced, which will complicate the control of the car (especially at night).
  • The presence of moisture has an extremely negative effect on contacts. They oxidize, which in turn can lead to failure of electrical wiring.
  • Water splashing on a hot surface inside the headlamp can destroy the reflector.
  • Moisture can lead to corrosion. And soon this rust will cause the metal parts of your headlight to darken and lose their functionality.
  • Constant moisture inside the headlight will significantly reduce the life of the light bulbs.

What to do if your optics constantly sweats, and why this happens - only the master will tell you in this matter. This requires certain skills and equipment. For example, it is simply impossible to find small cracks on the glass surface of a headlight without special equipment. Therefore, quite often the best option will be if you go to a car repair shop or service center.

But if you want to understand for yourself why the optics of the car sweat and fix this problem, then use the following tips, which can be very useful to you.

How to eliminate fogging headlights with your own hands

Before you decide to start looking for the source of why your headlights began to fog up, wash your car optics well, and then dry them well as well. Then, if they are available, you need to clean the ventilation ducts. Most often, most modern car headlights have access to the ventilation ducts under the hood or under the bumper. If you clean the channels, and the fogging of the headlights continues, then you need to remove the optics from the car. After all headlights sweat from the inside, and it is impossible to fix this problem on the car.

The sequence of your actions should be as follows. First, you need to remove the battery terminals, then disconnect the wiring from the headlight itself, disconnect the fasteners that attach the headlight to the car body, and remove the optics. Thoroughly clean the body from dirt, check if the sealant has collapsed at the joints, make sure that all joints are intact. You can use a magnifying glass to detect the presence of microcracks.

The removed optics must be very thoroughly dried. It is necessary to remove the bulbs from the nests and dry them well as well. It is better to use a hairdryer for this.

If, during inspection, you find small leaks at the junction of the optics with the headlight housing itself, then such places can be restored with exactly the same sealant. If the tightness is damaged more significantly, then it would be best if you:

  1. disassemble the headlight,
  2. completely clean the joint from the old sealant,
  3. this place must be degreased,
  4. apply a new sealant,
  5. fasten the headlight parts.

In addition, you need to carefully go through the sealant along all the joints and connections of the headlamp unit. Particular attention should be paid to the place where the wiring passes into the headlamp.

After you have completed all of the above steps, dry the headlamp thoroughly, wait until the sealant has completely cured, and reinstall the headlamp back on the car.

If large cracks are found on the optics, then it is necessary to replace such a part with a new one. Often, when the car owner decides to repair major damage on his own, on his own, this will not lead to the desired result. Most often, after a short time, the optics will start to sweat again. It must be remembered that the best option for eliminating fogging of automotive optics can only be a complete replacement of the failed optics with new optics.

Sometimes the reason the headlight fogs up from the inside , may consist in the fact that the tightness of the docking terminal connecting the "turn signal" to the headlamp is broken. Then the best option would be if you seal the area with a sealant.

Do not forget that after you remove the headlamp, you need to clean the ventilation ducts. The whole reason for fogging headlights from the inside can only consist of this. Take a thin wire in your hand, "conjure" over the headlamp for half an hour and the problem will be eliminated.
