The Italian company Fiat S.p.A. has prepared a new sedan Fiat Tipo (model year 2016-2017) for entering the European market. This model is also known as Fiat Aegea, but in Europe the novelty will be sold under the name Tipo. Fiat Tipo's new four-door sedan will hit the markets of Europe, Africa and the Middle East with gasoline and diesel engines ranging from 95 hp to 120 hp.

The price of the new Italian sedan in the basic configuration will be from 12 thousand euros or from 13.6 thousand dollars. Fiat Tipo Sedan and Fiat Aegea Sedan are completely identical, so I think it makes no sense to once again describe the appearance and interior of the car, but it is better to go straight to the configuration and technical characteristics of the new item.

The overall dimensions of the Fiat Tipo (2016-2017) are 4540 mm long, while the wheelbase is 2640 mm, the width of the sedan is 1790 mm, the height is 1490 mm, and the ground clearance (clearance) is 150 mm. The size of the luggage compartment is 520 liters, the turning diameter is 11 meters, the frontal aerodynamic resistance is 0.29 Cx.

In a more saturated configuration, 16-inch wheels, chrome-plated body trim, Uconnect multimedia system with a 5-inch touch screen (AUX, USB, MP3, Bluetooth and radio), a dashboard with a 3.5-inch trip computer screen, multi -steering wheel, power windows on the rear doors, rain and light sensors.

Optionally available: cruise control, climate control, rear view camera, parking sensors, fog lights, alloy wheels in sizes 16 and 17 and the latest TomTom 3D navigation system.

It is not yet clear whether the new Fiat Tipo sedan will be sold in the Russian market, given the company's weak position in Russia.

A long time ago, when cars were not so round, and why there, they were square, Fiat Tipo was produced in Italy. It was a hatchback, which immediately fell in love with the potential audience, it even received recognition from one of the magazines "Car of the Year". Then 1995 came, and production was curtailed.

And now, 20 years after leaving, the new Fiat Tipo returns to the markets to regain its former glory. It is also a worthy replacement for Linea, which is already a bit outdated.

The new Fiat Tipo 2016 in the sedan body was presented back in 2014, and in the past, in Geneva, a hatchback and a station wagon were presented. I must say, the bodies are all attractive enough to choose a specific one.

The front end is pretty interesting. Probably, first of all, attention is drawn to the large grille with a fine fraction. It's so painted and chrome-plated that it looks like it's just hanging in the air.

The head optics look very expensive, most likely due to the fact that the lenses here are not just round, but angular, in the style of the latest BMW models. By the way, bi-xenon headlights are installed only in maximum trim levels.

There is nothing superfluous on the bumper - there is only a wide air intake, which has already become traditional for all manufacturers. The ground clearance of 150 mm cannot be called a record, not at all, but it will be enough for city trips. In addition, it is worth considering the fact. That the model is not for sale in Russia and never will be. In general, on the body, including on the front, there is practically not a single section on which there would be no relief stamping.

The profile of the Fiat Tipo 2016, both in the sedan body and the wagon, turned out to be very interesting. There is a flat "muzzle", emphasizing the length of the car, a slightly sloping roof, especially in the station wagon, as well as several swift lines that stretch from the front to the rear. The model is equipped with 15 or 16 inch wheels.

Poop, the nicest, perhaps, from the station wagon. This does not mean that the sedan or the hatch are far behind, it is just that the car is most proportional. Inside, Fiat Tipo 2016 looks not that solid, say, not cheap. Here are interesting shapes, interesting use of materials. The total width of the car is 1.72 meters, so it cannot be said that there is a lot of space here, let's just say that there is just enough of it, nothing more, an ordinary budget salon, no better and no worse.

The instrument panel is large enough, the graphics are perfectly readable, and in general it is very much a campaign on the Lada Vesta's dashboard. Interestingly, the speedometer is marked up to 230 km / h, while the maximum speed is 200 km / h. There are a large number of buttons on the steering wheel, the purpose of which, frankly, cannot be understood at first glance, although later the grouping seems quite simple and logical.

Above the center console is a 7-inch display that can be used by a navigator, multimedia or a rear-view camera.

The air conditioner unit and the AUX connector with USB are installed just below.

I would like to say that there is enough meta on the second row, but this is not about Tipo. The whole point is that there seems to be enough space, only the backrest is almost vertical, which negatively affects the convenience of passengers boarding. Only fabric is used as decoration.

As for the luggage compartment, the sedan will fit 520 liters of luggage, the hatchback is slightly less - 440 liters. The station wagon will fit from 550 to 1130 liters.

The new Fiat Tipo differs from most of its competitors in that it has a diesel power unit in its arsenal. This is a 1.2-liter turbo four, producing 95 horses and a whopping 200 Nm of torque. With such parameters, acceleration to a hundred takes 12.3 seconds, the maximum speed will be 180 km / h, but the consumption on the highway is 3.3 liters, while in the city no more than 4.5 liters of diesel fuel will be required. Such an engine can only be equipped with a six-step mechanical gearbox.

Next in ascending order is the petrol 1.4. It has the same 95 horses, and the torque is 127 Nm. Despite the lower torque, such an engine lags behind the previous one by only 5 km / h, but the start up to a hundred is the same. As for the consumption, the gasoline engine, of course, needs more. On the highway, this figure will be 4.6 liters, in the city almost 7 liters of gasoline. For this motor, only mechanics are also available.

Further - again gasoline, but turbocharged. This made it possible to remove 120 horses and 215 Nm of torque from the same 1.4. With such an engine, starting up to a hundred will take only 10.3 seconds, and the maximum reaches 200 km / h. Naturally, the turbine is like a filler neck, so the consumption on the highway will rise to 6.5 liters, and in the city almost to 12 liters.

The next motor is the only one in the lineup that is aggregated with an automatic transmission with six steps. This is a naturally aspirated gasoline 1.6, which produces 110 horses. The maximum torque is not impressive at all - 152 Nm. It is strange that this particular engine was chosen for the machine. With him, Fiat Tipo will accelerate to a maximum of 192 km / h, to the first hundred, acceleration will take 11.7 seconds, this is faster than a diesel 1.2 on mechanics. Not bad. The consumption of such an engine varies from 4.5 to 9.5 liters of gasoline.

The top power unit can be equipped with either a six-speed mechanics or a similar robot. It has a displacement of the same 1.6 liters, a turbine and 120 horses in the arsenal. This is enough to take 200 km / h and start up to a hundred in 10.1 seconds. At the same time, the consumption even in the city will remain within 4 liters of diesel fuel.

Under the hood of the new European 2016 Fiat Tipo sedan, a choice of two diesel engines and a pair of four-cylinder petrol engines are installed (all engines meet the Euro6 CO2 emission standards). Petrol modifications are represented by 1.4 and 1.6-liter engines with a capacity of 95 and 108 hp. respectively, diesels - 1.3-liter 94-horsepower and 1.6-liter 118-horsepower units. Shifting can be manually selected with a lever, but does someone buy an “automatic” to change the gear ratios on their own?
In terms of dynamics, the version with "automatic" is not much different from the Peugeot 1.4 / 95 HP. with a mechanical box. Our Tipo accelerated to "hundred" just 0.3 seconds faster than a car with a base engine. The manufacturer guarantees that in the city Fiat consumes 8.5 l / 100 km, with a very quiet ride, we managed to go down to 8 l, but with a strong press of the gas, the consumption increased to 10 l / 100 km.

The work of the box encourages, rather, to a calm journey - the gears change smoothly. Low quality finishing materials in the interior. Therefore, we assumed that the soundproofing of the car is also not the best. And then a surprise - while driving on the highway (140 km / h), Tipo rides pleasantly quietly !!! Even during the reduction in gear ratios, which cause an increase in revs, excessive noise is not heard in the cabin, and it seems that they occur somewhere further than half a meter from the driver's ears.
In terms of equipment, the Fiat Tipo in the Lounge version has virtually everything you need, with the exception of sophisticated driver assistance systems, such as active cruise control (such options will appear in the Tipo hatchback and station wagon). In the middle configuration, you get: 6 airbags, climate control, full power accessories, a touch screen radio with a Bluetooth system, 16-inch alloy wheels. Our copy had a few more elements of additional equipment, such as navigation and a rear-view camera.
However, if you decide to buy the basic version of Tipo, you will have no reason to complain: as standard, including 2 airbags, electric front elevators, air conditioning, central locking and a radio with USB.
