Hyundai Greta 1.6 or 2.0 which is better. What engine is installed? Average car cost

Today we will look at Hyundai Creta engines, which we will compare with each other and comparable with competitors’ engines.

The Korean concern Hyundai has established itself in the world market as a manufacturer of reliable power units. They are characterized by a high service life, reliability and ease of operation. Each new car, coming off the factory assembly line, receives an authentic motor, manufactured and assembled at the factory facilities. Korean engineers did not break established traditions and installed two gasoline engines:
1. 1.6 liter power unit.
2. Engine power two liters.
Both engines are powered by AI-95. Moreover, the 1.6 liter engine can use AI-92 as fuel. It is clear that each has its own flavor, but there are certain disadvantages.

Regarding the features and technical characteristics of Hyundai Greta power units
Type of structures power plants– in-line. In both cases, the cylinders are located transversely. There are 4 of them, as well as valves. There is a difference in engine volume: 1.6 versus 2.0 liters.
Unit cylinder diameter less power 77 mm. For the two-liter version this figure is 81 mm. There are also differences in compression ratio: 10.3 versus 10.5 of the more powerful one.
The power ratings are also different. The “smaller brother” is capable of delivering 151 Nm at maximum power 123 l/power. The two-liter version has 192 Nm. The power of the installation is 149.6 horsepower. Both designs are equipped with a distributor injection system.
Let's define the features of each unit and start reviewing the basic version.

Powertrain 1.6 MPI

Basic version engine is closely related to the Gamma family. She is known not only in Russia, but throughout the entire post-Soviet space. A simplified version of the power plant in question has previously been used on a number of Honda and Kia car models. Let's take a look at distinctive features engine with a capacity of 123 l/hp.
The cylinder block is made of light aluminum alloy. Despite its light weight, it (the block) is considered very reliable.
The timing system uses a belt.
System injection injection equipped with a special fuel rail.
Engineers determined for each cylinder individual reel ignition
The unit has 16 valves. Adjustment is carried out mechanically.
Simplicity and reliability are the key features of the 1.6-liter power plant.
According to experts and user reviews, the Creta 1.6 engine is very economical. As noted earlier, you can use base 95 gasoline or 92 gasoline as fuel.

If you stand still and don’t improve your setup, your competitors will overtake you. The engineers of the Korean concern also understand this. So in latest version crossover, certain changes have been made:
the CWT phase adjustment system has been improved;
regarding the technical characteristics of the motor. The rated engine power is 123 l/force with a unit volume of 1.6 liters;
the developers gave preference to an aluminum cylinder block and cylinder head;
A coil is used to supply ignition.
It is necessary to say something about fuel consumption. Average figures are 7 liters per hundred.

Powertrain 2.0 MPI

This engine belongs to the Hyundai family of power units and is considered a more advanced version. In its favor is the fact that it is operated on a crossover version with all-wheel drive. Although common operational period is only 3 years. The features of the two-liter unit include the following. The use of a cylinder block, in the production of which light alloy metals are involved.

Chain drive serves 2 shafts simultaneously.
The transmission and intake shafts are combined with a CWT phase control system.
The power unit is equipped with a distribution injection system.
In version 2.0, the valve tappets are adjusted in automatic mode.
The engine can “eat” 92 gasoline as fuel. This allows you to reduce (save) basic fuel consumption indicators.

Note!

With the existing capacity of 164-167 mares, the Russians are offered only a unit with a capacity of 149.6 l/hp. The use of only one version is due to legislation regarding transport tax. But this fact in no way affected the dynamics of the car.
A geometry adjustment system is connected to the Creta 2.0 power plant intake tract.
Talking about positive aspects power plants, there is no need to artificially raise them to the automotive Olympus. It is necessary to expose the shortcomings, which we will try to do.

Disadvantages of power units 1.6 and 2.0 Hyundai Greta

Although the engines are assembled in China, there is no particular reason to worry about this. But, there are certain shortcomings: the complexity of the restoration process (repair) and the low threshold for operation. According to the official version, without overhaul engines can operate within 180-200 thousand kilometers. There is unofficial evidence that the service life can be increased to 300 thousand with proper and regular maintenance. But, we will adhere to the official position of the Korean concern. According to experts, the price of cylinder blocks is too high. The service life of the parts is 250 thousand kilometers. And the cost reaches 80 thousand rubles. So consider the economy.

Problems with sleeves made of cast iron. They are filled with liquid aluminum and combined with the structure of the block. What does this mean in practice? Repair and/or change individual elements unreal. Difficulties associated with aluminum block cylinders Yes, it is light and reliable - no doubt. But, at the same time, it cannot be wasted. The block wears out quickly. At the same time, its productivity is lost and fuel consumption increases. And most importantly: the cylinder block, made of aluminum, cannot be repaired.

A few words about competitors
In this segment gathered big company, which includes representatives Renault Captur, Kia Soul, Skoda Yeti. Korean engines are considered leaders. This is due to its power and moderate gas mileage. And also the ability to vary fuel using AI-95 and AI-92. This fact can only amuse our compatriots.
But the developers made one significant mistake: they neglected the main thing - maintainability, chasing lightness and manufacturability.

What conclusions can be drawn from the above?

The 1.6-liter engine boasts an aluminum cylinder block, a timing belt and an injection system using an injector. In addition, the engine has minimal fuel consumption: 7 liters per hundred.
The 2.0 engine is capable of being combined with an all-wheel drive system. This puts it head and shoulders above its competitors. Fuel consumption is only 8 liters per 100 kilometers.
The Creta motor cannot be called an ideal creation of technical thought. Although it outperforms its closest competitors. The advantages of Korean engines are reliability, power and efficiency.

Reviews

The main thing is clearance! I stopped looking closely at every pebble on the road. Large diameter wheels add comfort when driving on bad road. I don’t have to look out from behind the wheel onto the road (even with my considerable height). I was pleased when going out into nature - even with front-wheel drive you can drive where the road was previously closed.

A little more about consumption, since this worries many. We can say that he pleases. It all depends on the driving style of the particular driver, the time of year and where you have to drive. The first three winter thousand (although in our area last winter was warm) the consumption was 9.4-9 liters per hundred city-highway approximately 50:50. It seemed like a lot, but spring came, the running-in ended and the consumption dropped to 8 liters.

There are several reasons why you should forget about dynamic driving. I'm somewhat dissatisfied with the automatic transmission algorithm. On long climbs (or overtaking), you almost always have to use manual mode, because the machine turns on early downshift and then, apart from the roar of the engine, there is little sense.

Overall I like the car. Despite the simple interior and average appearance, the Hyundai Greta is one of those that is larger inside than outside (praise be to the designers), so far it does not annoy even small jambs. And... This is a car more likely for the city, for traffic jams, for a leisurely drive. Such a workhorse for every day.

Vladimir, review about the Hyundai Greta 1.6 automatic with front-wheel drive.

I drove at night in normal conditions without rain, without oncoming traffic or splashing headlights - the light on Crete is very weak. This is the first problem. Second - the car (my opinion) is light, it basically holds the road, but due to poor lighting it flew onto a frozen roadside track, it’s good that the speed was low, it pulls off and jumps. There is a feeling of an unbalanced car, maybe it’s a matter of habit, I don’t know.

At low speeds in the snow, this lightness is even a thrill, it rows normally and skids the rear a little if you increase it, but in principle it stabilizes without interference from the steering wheel. It works quite often. The engine was not particularly broken in, but it gave off heat when overtaking. Frankly, the engine is rather weak. Maybe for now.

The car heats up quickly and efficiently. I set it to 23 according to the book, and forgot (climate). True, with frosts of minus 20-30, the windows tighten when driving long distances, turn them on to normal mode, and it goes away. We'll see how the air conditioner and climate will work in the summer. The ergonomics of the cabin are generally fine. The doors don't close the first time, maybe because of the frost.

Owner's review of the Hyundai Creta 2.0 with automatic transmission and all-wheel drive

Where can I buy?

In the first week, a knocking sound appeared in the trunk; I didn’t notice it until I took everything out of the trunk, including the shelves and the spare tire. I discovered a rattling noise in the trunk lock... I went to the dealer, they tightened it up and fixed it.

Second week, the next day after visiting the dealer the tire pressure gauge came on, I checked that the pressure was normal. I drove for a couple more days and the trunk lock started clanking again and gradually stopped closing the first, second, or fifth time. I visited the dealer, they changed the lock, did something to the tire pressure sensors, the light stopped burning

Over a run of 1,300 km, the consumption gradually decreased from the run-in 18-20 to 10.2 on the highway in 100/120 mode and to 12-14 in the city. And yes, guys, this is a 95 G drive)) Mileage 4,000 km, no more problems.

From disadvantages of Hyundai Creta, I note that both the engine and the interior cool down quickly, there is no sealing - it comes through from the windows when closed, when reclining the seats, the blowing in the trunk is very noticeable, there are a lot of crickets, the trunk lock clicks in the cold, driving safety on the highway is low - it directly throws you out of the rut ,
there is no lumbar support - the back gets tired after 400 km of the route, the audio is very mediocre, it can be treated at least by replacing the head.

Nikita, review about the Hyundai Creta 2.0 with an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

123 horsepower is quite enough for driving around the city; it’s stupid to expect any unrealistic acceleration figures from a city crossover. When driving with smooth acceleration on the streets, this engine is enough for the eyes. The 6-speed manual turned out to be cool and convenient - short stroke, clear shifts and electronic assistants doing their job.

It turns out that you seem to have a manual transmission, but the car still won’t let you full control over yourself, but to call it a minus is complete nonsense. You just sit down and drive, getting used to everything in a matter of minutes. The only thing you need to get used to is electronic pedal gas, the delay of which is felt for about a second.

Well, appearance is determined differently for everyone. For example, I really like her. A strong and swift silhouette in a small body. Although, by the way, there is a lot of space inside the car, both in front and in the back - I still don’t understand how they were able to achieve such a result.

Review from the owner of Hyundai Creta 1.6 on mechanics

Video review of the Hyundai Creta

The suspension is moderately stiff. In my memory, of the crossovers with a similar wheelbase, the softest is the Qashqai, the hardest is the Suzuki Grand Vitara. Creta is somewhere in the middle. The suspension is not very elastic (like the Tiguan), but not flabby (like previous Hyundais). Small bumps go well, speed bumps are no longer good if you drive at a speed of more than 30 km/h. Large potholes depending on speed. On a small scale - normal, average.

The Creta's steering is well controlled and does not roll - handling is at an average level passenger cars T-class type Focus, which is very good. The steering wheel itself is light and gets heavier at speed, but not linearly, i.e. Already at low speed it becomes quite heavy. It is light only in parking lots and when driving at speeds up to 10 km/h. Noise insulation is average, at low speeds it is very quiet, then mediocre.

The engine follows the gas pedal well up to 60-80 km/h. Then it starts to dull. Above 100-120 km/h it already begins to howl. The box, again, works just fine up to these speeds. All this points to the urban nature of the car - it’s good to drive on average city roads and not too fast. Ideal for Moscow and the region.

Interior design, dashboard simple but cute. Like all Hyundais, the Creta has a very good appetite. Highway 9 liters, city with traffic jams and warm-ups - 13 liters. Well, this is the price for the naturally aspirated engine, vigorous starts from traffic lights and classic machine gun- there's no escape. The brakes are again average - not sharp, but informative, although somewhere from the middle of the brake pedal stroke.

The build quality of the car is normal, but there is a problem with closing the fifth door - you have to slam hard. Fill up with 92 and save on motor oil I really don’t recommend it (take Total Quartz) - in two-liter engines this can cause scuffing in the cylinders.

Review from owner of Hyundai Greta 1.6 automatic transmission front-wheel drive ohm

General impression:

I'm happy with the car. Price and quality. I decided on the box a long time ago. At first I chose between a 1.6 manual transmission front-wheel drive and a 1.6 manual transmission 4X4. In the end (after weighing all the pros and cons), my choice fell on the 1.6 front-wheel drive with the handle at maximum speed (travel + advance package). Bought it via trade-in. I finished my purchase in one day (lucky, I didn’t have to wait six months as they wrote in earlier reviews). Probably at the plant in St. Petersburg they began to work tirelessly and without washing their feet. A small bonus was that the turn signal repeaters are located in the side mirrors (according to the price list, they should be in the side wings). Probably a new car in the 2018 model range. It’s bad that they don’t produce KRETU manual transmission with a 2-liter engine. I wouldn't mind having one like this. Perhaps it will appear in the next restalings. I would like to add that the CRETA with a 1.6 manual transmission engine and front-wheel drive still drives around the city and on the highway, no matter what. In addition, I think that CRETA 1.6 automatic transmission (front or all-wheel drive), as well as 1.6 manual transmission (all-wheel drive) means poor acceleration and increased fuel consumption.

Advantages:

1. Front-wheel drive on the handle means the car is lightweight, and therefore low consumption fuel. On the highway (dry asphalt) consumption dropped to 5.4 liters per hundred (AI-92), in the city no more than 7 liters, beauty. 2. The noise is moderate, the suspension works great, even with the beam in the car it doesn’t shake too much. 3. Cruise control - I got to know it, it turns out it helps a lot on the highway. 4. Heating of the windshield, all seats and steering wheel - very useful options in winter. 5. Visibility from the mirrors and from the front - I sit high, I look far away. 6. High ground clearance- you can drive over curbs and drive along deep ruts. 7. Headlights - lenses and fog lights, dimensions - LED strip - in general the light is not bad, it shines brightly. 8. Head unit(touch, 5 inches) - not bad sound, there is an MP3 and a Bluetooth phone for hands-free communication + steering wheel controls, a connector for a flash drive. 9. There are roof rails - all that remains is to purchase cross members (possibly boxing in the future). 10. Available rear camera and parking sensors - I’m used to it the old fashioned way, I park using the mirrors. 11. A spacious niche under the trunk floor - I removed the standard foam from the spare tire and stuck in everything I needed. 12. The engine is a regular aspirated engine (the same as I had in my Kia Rio). 13. Comfortable armrest. 14. You can pour 92nd gasoline. I don’t think I’ll see a difference in consumption between 92 and 95. 15. Passengers in the back sit comfortably - their legs do not rest against the front seats, and their heads do not rest on the ceiling + there are 2 butt-heating modes. 16. There is a plastic boot on the bottom of the pallet and box - less dirt will fly in. 17. Keyless entry- you quickly get used to good things.

Flaws:

1. 2 extras are missing. frequency speakers in the front doors - I may install them in the future as a lover of loud music. 2. Oak plastic, scratches easily. 3. Spare wheel - stamping (at least the radius matches the wheels). 4. Standard tires 205Х65Х16 NEXTON - it doesn’t make me happy at all. Question: Why is the manufacturer Korean, but the tires on a Korean car are Chinese? Yes and alloy wheels My family probably haven’t watched it yet either. Maybe someone knows the answer - write in the comments. 5. You cannot turn off the beeper (5 seconds) when you have started the engine, left the cabin and closed all the doors (does not see the key in the car and causes panic). 6. When the engine is running, the light never turns off completely (at least the lights are on). 7. There is no MUTE button on the steering wheel (turn off the sound), instead there is some kind of voice control, which does not go into any place. 8. There is no access to the fog lights - when they burn out, you will probably have to remove the wheel and fender liner to replace the light bulb. 9.There is no sun visor on windshield(darkening tape). 10. We saved on a coat hook (it’s on only one side on the rear right door). 11. I think soon plastic crickets will appear, because it is very hard.

The Hyundai Creta mini-crossover appeared on the domestic market in 2016. The car was named after the Greek island of Crete and was originally conceived as a universal model. The Creta has received several modifications, including several all-wheel drive options with a choice of engines. The Creta engine is suitable for any driver and is designed for different type ride.

Despite the large number of competitors, among which we can highlight: Renault Kaptur, Kia Soul, Skoda Yeti, new car quickly gained popularity among drivers. The Korean company tried to combine confident design and solid functionality, all at an affordable price.

It should be noted that they coped with the task quite well. The car received not only the original appearance, and that's enough nice salon. But is everything as good under the hood as it is outside and inside? What is used in Creta timing or chain? Let us consider these questions in detail and try to answer them.

Engine range of Hyundai Creta

The engine is the heart of any car and the specialists of the Korean brand know this like no one else. Hyundai cars have always been distinguished by reliable motors with increased service life and ease of operation. They equipped the lineup the most optimal power units for such a body:

  • Gamma G4FG with a volume of 1.6 liters
  • Two-liter Nu G4NA.

Old versions of these nodes worked well: owners often noted the lack serious problems during operation. Engineers have refined the design of engines for the Hyundai Creta, thereby improving specifications. These changes helped make slightly outdated engines quite competitive. In the front-wheel drive version, the rear has a new generation suspension (beam with vertical shock absorbers and modified mounting points) nothing special at the front: a regular McPherson.

The all-wheel drive version is similar in design, but rear suspension independent with electro-hydraulic clutch, similar technical solutions used in Tucson and Santa Fe. In addition, car variations differ in power steering: on basic ones it is hydraulic, and on more expensive ones it is electric.

Engine with a volume of 1.6

Which engine should the buyer choose? Let's start with volume 1.6. GAMMA G4FG has decent power for such a volume, low level noise and has good performance environmental cleanliness.

The updated engine has a power of 123 horsepower, which is complemented by a thrust of 155 Nm. The unit is distinguished by the following parameters:

  • aluminum cylinder block;
  • two camshafts;
  • injector with fuel rail;
  • separate ignition coils that go to each of the cylinders;
  • use of a chain in a gas distribution mechanism;
  • CVVT system on intake and exhaust.

These technical solutions made it possible to create a balanced motor that is unpretentious and economical. In addition, it can be filled with 92 gasoline without loss of traction, which is of great importance. Hyundai engineers also optimized the software component, leaving electronic system management. The GAMMA G4FG engine can be combined with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, depending on the selected configuration.

Two-liter engine

This engine variation is more dynamic and, like the first, is a modified version of the old unit and is called G4KD. Updated motor It has the same design with an aluminum cylinder block, a timing chain and two shafts. In addition, there are hydraulic valve compensators, resulting in the need for constant adjustment disappears.

Here, as in the 1.6-liter engine, there is a “dual” CVVT system, which is provided for both the intake and exhaust shafts. For domestic market, the engine will be supplied with distributed injection. The power of the two-liter engine is 150 hp. Similar to the previous engine, this modified MPI can be filled with 92 gasoline.

One of the main innovations of the engine is the appearance of hydraulic compensators and roller levers in the valve drive. Thanks to this, there is no need to regularly check valve clearances and the levers themselves, as a result of which reliability increases and overall performance improves. performance characteristics power unit: wear and fuel consumption are reduced, but power, on the contrary, increases.

Thanks to the modernization, the maximum torque in the engine is available at more low revs. Like the first option, the G4KD is combined with a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. The engine shows very good dynamics at speeds above average and, in general, is quite decent for such a car.

Conclusion

Undoubtedly the network Hyundai engines Creta and the fly in the ointment. This is mainly due to the aluminum block. The units are high-tech, but have poor maintainability indicators.

Cast iron sleeves poured into the block are practically impossible to get, and there is no possibility of boring. Some owners claim that the car's life is limited to two hundred thousand kilometers, while others say that they have driven more than 300.

In any case, the entire block can be replaced, although it will not be cheap. Undeniable Hyundai's advantage Creta is a purchase option economical car with an engine capacity of 1.6 liters, good power and all-wheel drive, which competitors clearly cannot boast of.

Creta engines are not perfect, but if you compare them with competitors, you can conclude that they have a simple design, sufficient power and ease of use, which is very important for the responsible driver. Over time, owners will be able to find out what the engine life actually is and draw appropriate conclusions.

Hyundai Creta engine in video:

Long story short, I’m not afraid of this word, the related Khrey was changed to Creta. What's surprising is that I thought that the Mini Cooper was difficult to sell and that I lost something in the sale, but no, the Hray turned out to be an even less profitable investment.

Today the car was inspected.

Engine 1.6, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission, Travel package, i.e. seems like a top one, but without additional packages For

cameras-buttons-heating-whatever-else, the price is around 1.1 million.

I’ll try to compare it with Qashqai, although it’s difficult to do so, because... different configurations and it's hard to compare prices for these cars. It feels like in comparable configurations with the condition of any trade-ins, the difference is 200 thousand rubles (for Nissans there are now very worthy discounts from the “full” price list).

Objectively, the Creta is a lower-budget car than the Qashqai.

Externally, I like it, the color is blue, I generally like this Hyundai color.

In terms of dimensions, the creta is slightly smaller than the Qashqai (larger only in

height), the inside is parity, and the trunk feels a little smaller, which

confirmed by the passport difference of 30 liters. Overall the trunk is adequate.

There is a certain comparative budget feeling in the cabin, but this is already in the “I’m snickering” area. Gray echoing plastic, narrow doors. In terms of quality, plastic, and color, the interior was more reminiscent of Test's Gilly Emgrand than Qashqai. But at the same time, outwardly everything looks quite decent, if you don’t touch, chew or tap.

The body paint is quite insufficient. The door and trunk openings are not painted very well, shagreen is visible, there is no varnish, and the primer shows through the paint.

I don’t know how it’s going, I’ll try to ask for a ride later. Relatives are happy, compare with Qashqai and find advantages :) I left the car for summer tires, it’s far from spring in Moscow now, I wouldn’t risk riding like that, but there are hopes for quick warming and massive snow melting, so I won’t be buying tires this season.

Overall, considering the price, I think the offering is decent for the crossover class and overall I can understand why this car is selling well. For this money you can’t buy much new, but adjusted for “a car is not a luxury” as a means of transportation with increased ground clearance Creta should perform quite adequately.
