Specifications kawasaki ninja 250r. Features of design and external execution

You can hardly guess which of the Kawasaki motorcycles is the best selling. Could it be the famous middleweight supersport ZX-6R? Or the newly upgraded KLR650 dual purpose? If you choose between these two, then you are mistaken.

The best-selling Kawasaki was the Kawasaki Ninja 250R… a motorcycle that has remained largely unchanged since 1988. But only until the moment when in 2008 it appeared completely updated model 250R.

The key to successful motorcycle sales was its value. In the US, the MSRP for the 250R has been hovering around $2,999 for quite some time. In return, buyers received a reliable (albeit outdated) vehicle. sports type, light, fast, easy to use. Indeed, at first, sales accounted for 62% of the market traditionally occupied by the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, and the motorcycle itself gained a significant position in the motorcycle industry. And this is a very good bait for new buyers.

Before we delve into the changes that befell the 250R in 2008, let's take a look at what happened to the price. The bike is now $500 more expensive (US suggested retail price $3,499) and this could have a significant impact on its future sales. However, Kawasaki manufacturers believe that new model, significantly redesigned and improved, will justify the increase in cost.

The changes to the 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R are indeed significant. Although the bike is still powered by carburetors (fuel-injected in models destined for Europe, in the US this would drive up prices even more), the chassis, engine and frame have been significantly redesigned.

The new very modern frame is made in the same style as the rest of Kawasaki sport bikes. Compared to the previous model (designed in the 1980s), the new Kawasaki Ninja 250R looks much better; it can easily be mistaken for a sportbike with a larger engine than it really is, as there is no “250” written anywhere on the frame. old model, of course, can not boast of this.

The changes, however, are much deeper. According to Kawasaki, the engine performance and handling of the 2008 model has received Special attention. So let's start with the engine.

According to the company, 70% of the engine has been redesigned, 30% power has been increased at medium speeds, and low-end performance has been significantly improved. To do this, they changed the shape of the inlet and exhaust channels, and the combustion chamber was made more compact. Lighter valves with thinner heads have increased airflow and reduced friction during reciprocating movements.

Thanks to improved camshafts, regulated by a new chain tensioner, increased fuel pressure and injection duration. The carburetors that I have already mentioned have a corrected injection mechanism and correspond to the diameters of the diffusers.

Old separate exhaust system replaced new system a two-in-one that is supposed to increase low to medium torque while reducing noise levels and giving the bike a modern, attractive look.

The standout feature of the Kawasaki Ninja 250R is a six-speed gearbox for smoother shifting, paired with a solid clutch. The completely redesigned heatsink is lighter and cooler, and the fan is quieter. The diamond-shaped chassis frame made of high-strength steel provides a greater front angle of rotation of the fork, thanks to which the dimensions of the wheelbase have not changed, and the swingarm has become longer. The fork has become wider (37 mm versus the previous 36 mm) and stiffer, re-installed. Rear suspension equipped with new shock absorbers from Kayaba, the tension of which can be pre-set in one of five positions. In general, depreciation is generally changed.

The brakes on this Ninja are also new. The size of the front single disc has increased from 260 mm to 290 mm, which is clamped by a two-piston brake caliper. rear disc also clamped by a two-piston caliper. Both discs are petal-shaped, dissipate heat better and look stylish.

If you already have a previous model Kawasaki Ninja 250R, then 16-inch wheels may well not suit you. The choice of tires, in fact, was not. These were either the manufacturer's original tires or nothing. The 2008 250R features 17-inch wheels for better handling and stability, with a choice of tires.

The updated instrument panel features an analog speedometer and tachometer with odometer, trip odometer and wide, very clear fuel gauge.

We had the opportunity to do about 160 kilometers in a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R in Southern California. But, unfortunately, we were unable to verify the distance; we'll look into that as soon as we get the diagnostic devices.

The new Kawasaki Ninja 250R has a smooth, wide powerband that gives you the acceleration you need in town and the ability to hold high speeds on the road. As it appears, maximum speed lies somewhere in the region of 160-180 km / h, although this is not accurate.

In addition, the move to wider wheels and tires and a new chassis with reinforced forks ensured stability at all speeds tested. The bike runs smoothly while changing direction easily and can even handle some difficult steering maneuvers while a more experienced rider tries to avoid them.

Without a doubt, the new Kawasaki Ninja 250R looks much better than the old one: light, harmonious, integral. Pretty good wind protection, comfortable ergonomics.

This bike is very similar to a dual purpose bike due to the high and wide handlebars for a straight seating position. That is, you get the likeness of a sportbike with a saddle for a direct comfortable fit.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about the Kawasaki Ninja 250R is the brakes - the single front disc brake is large enough and powerful enough to stop the bike safely and confidently. Pretty good for a bike in this price range.

The dashboard is very legible and ultra-modern. I have never seen such a large fuel indicator on any car. The saddle is also well made.

From obvious disadvantages models only that the spare tires are not radial, and will not withstand such loads as grader tires. Despite the fact that the tire sizes are small (110/70-17 front and 130/70-17 rear), motorcyclists now have the opportunity to put more modern tires.

The release of Kawasaki Ninja 250R in 2008 is a significant contribution major manufacturer in the production of motorcycles for beginners. At $3,499 (US suggested retail price), the 250R will bring you tons of fun and is the perfect start for aspiring street racers. The bike is available in four color schemes: Lime Green, Candy Plasma Blue, Passion Red and Ebony.

Estimated price of Kawasaki Ninja 250R in Russia is ~150 thousand rubles.

2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R Top Speed 100+ MPH!!!

Description:
Yo!
Just like the title says, ninja 250 top speed! I went over 100 mph and got to red line in 6th gear. Like i said in the video, sure if you had a super long straight road that was down hill you may be able to get it to 110 or 115 mph but it would take forever and you would probably have to go past red line. Anyways, this is just about as fast as I could get it! Sure its not as fast as a zx6r or a zx10r but that"s just it, its only a beginner 250! I have a two brothers exhaust, not sure if that would really make a difference because its only slip on but i figured i" d mention it! Also I have a 1 tooth larger rear sprocket which adds torque to my bike. even with the extra torque I had a hard time redlining it in 6th gear!
Thanks for watching! Ride safe!

Honda CBR125R top speed

The design of the Kawasaki-250 Ninja sportbike, after 20 years of production, has undergone significant changes, offering more functionality over all the same affordable price not exceeding 3.5 thousand US dollars. What made the model the manufacturer's best-selling motorcycle? Availability. It is inexpensive to maintain and insure, and also saves fuel exceptionally. "Ninja-250" is ideal not only for beginners, but also for those who like sportbikes, as it is the only sport bike with a working volume of 250 cm 3 on the market.

Trainer for beginners?

According to a survey of Kawasaki owners, the Ninja 250 is popular with newbies, with 33% of sales going to women. Not surprisingly, one of the top considerations for buyers is price. It is only $3,499. Before the design change, the motorcycle with a rather weak engine with a displacement of 250 cm 3 was intended purely for beginners. But everything changed after 2008, when the engine was updated by 70%, and the style of the motorcycle was borrowed from the Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-6R sports models.

Ergonomics and design

Users recommend an upright riding position, which, unlike a reclined one, is more gentle on the lower back and does not put additional pressure on the wrists. Restyling has brought comfortable ergonomics, thanks to which the driver's position has become much more natural.

Weighing only 152 kg, the Kawasaki Ninja 250 motorcycle is very light and easy to remove from the stand, which is a definite plus for beginners. The two-piece, stepped, forward-sloping seat helps the rider keep correct position. Its passenger side is slightly higher than the front. The seat height is only 77.5 cm - this is the minimum for a sportbike. back seat can be hidden under a spectacular cover in the color of the motorcycle body. A driver of short stature (1m 67cm) wearing low-heeled boots can stand firmly on the ground while stopped. The seat is narrow enough not to restrict those wearing short-pitch trousers.

More power

Early modifications of the 250R required higher RPMs (i.e. more fuel flow) just to shift out of first gear. It was difficult for novice motorcyclists who are just learning to determine where the friction zone is. The new Kawasaki Ninja 250 has enough torque at low and medium speeds for quick acceleration and smoother starts that do not require the driver to open the throttle much. The technical characteristics of the motorcycle indicate that its maximum torque is 18.4 Nm at 9,750 rpm. You can even mistakenly start in second gear instead of first. Most bikes allow this without any consequences. It is possible to crank the throttle for a quick rev-up to second gear without engine interruption. However, the 250R was not very forgiving to such a start.

Stability and reliability

How does a 250 cc engine behave at high speeds? The motorcycle is stable and reliable, moving at a speed of 110-120 km/h. After shifting into sixth gear, the speedometer showed an effortless 120 km / h at about 8000 rpm. According to user reviews, new windshield provides a decent level of wind protection without letting the rider get too much wind. When driving on a bumpy road in the city, the improved suspension of the motorcycle immediately becomes noticeable. If earlier, when entering such a site, one could expect a tangible blow, now the small Kawasaki-250 Ninja has risen to the occasion. The new front fork is slightly thicker than the previous one and provides better stability and more stability. The rear shocks have 5-position preload adjustment. This means you can loosen or tighten the factory damper settings to prepare for carrying a passenger or luggage.

short reach

A smaller lean angle of 26°C makes steering and cornering easier. The shorter the overhang, the easier it is to make tight turns. According to drivers who have driven narrow roads, it was easy to turn on them if you look in the direction of the intended movement and do not lower your legs down. The motorcycle also received new 6-spoke 17-inch wheels (instead of 16”) with low profile tires for greater stability. In addition, this size is more common and allows you to find tires to your taste.

Larger brake disc

The 2008 model received an improved brake system with increased lever sensitivity, which allows you to brake with just two fingers. An enlarged 290 mm petal disc is installed in front ( larger size means more applied force). Front and rear, it is compressed by new two-piston calipers. Brake disk the shape resembles a flower (hence its name), and not a circle, like most motorcycles. This increases the efficiency of his work.

Fuel sensor

The all-analog instrument cluster includes a large, easy-to-read speedometer and separate tachometer. It's amazing to see non-digital gauges today (even the odometer is made up of spinning numbers), but it's one way to keep the price of the Kawasaki 250 Ninja low. In 2008 a fuel gauge was added - handy feature not found on most small displacement motorcycles.

economy

The 18L fuel tank allows you to stay on the go longer between fill-ups. The Kawasaki Ninja-250 has engine characteristics that provide fuel consumption of 4.7 liters per 100 km, but this depends on the driving style (some owners claim that they manage to achieve a consumption of 3.4 liters per 100 kilometers). In order to keep the price low at 250R, the manufacturing company is forced to use carbureted engine. Fuel injection is available on models shipped to Europe, but they also come at a higher cost.

Unusual mirrors

The only problem with the Kawasaki Ninja 250 is the new diamond-shaped mirrors, which are smaller than they are used to. They require a few adjustments before they get into a position where everything behind the sportbike is clearly visible.

Transmission

The clutch is a bit stiffer than you would expect from a motorcycle. entry level, but this, of course, is not decisive. Once you start driving, the updated 6-speed transmission shifts smoothly, and there is never any problem finding the neutral. All Kawasaki motorcycles are equipped with the manufacturer's proprietary technology, which allows you to do this without difficulty. Green indicator on the instrument panel confirms when the transmission is in neutral.

Ride Experience

According to owners, the bike's two-cylinder engine is a little chugging, and its squat is a little lazy if the rider is used to an aggressive riding style. However, it allows easy adjustment of acceleration and speed. If you pull the clutch and engage the gear, you will notice that the lever has a lot of travel. The engine picks up speed gradually and becomes noisy somewhere halfway up to the maximum 13,000 rpm. Acceleration can be brisk enough to keep up with traffic or hit the highway, but you should keep the engine on maximum level power. If you change gear too early, you may miss optimal speed to provide good acceleration.

The low weight of the motorcycle makes it easy to maneuver, and changes in direction are made with minimal effort. If you keep the speed high, then driving the Ninja 250 motorcycle on winding roads will be pleasant. The gearbox behaves well and most of the time shifts gears with positive feedback, although at times it falls into a false neutral between them. Green indicator neutral position sometimes it doesn't light up. The brakes are much better and get enough good feedback. Thanks to its low weight and maneuverability, riding the Kawasaki-250 Ninja sportbike gives pleasure and useful experience, which will allow beginners to easily master driving techniques, and more experienced drivers to polish their basic skills.

findings

So what do all these improvements mean for those interested in this bike? The result is a more comfortable ride and improved ergonomics. The increased sensitivity of the throttle stick is very important, especially for beginners who are just getting used to handling throttle valve. Increasing torque at low to mid-rpm lets you feel the power quick start. An improved braking system and smoother shifting is always a good thing. In addition, cornering was simplified, the instrument panel was updated with the addition of a fuel gauge, and the body was completely replaced, which provided the motorcycle with a modern and stylish look.

But the most important thing is that, despite all these significant improvements, the price has increased by only $500.

The Japanese corporation Kawasaki is rightfully considered one of the largest industrial concerns in the world. Among the range of manufactured products are robots, tractors, trains, weapons, helicopters and equipment for aircraft. But rarely did our compatriot hear about Kawasaki trains, but everyone heard about motorcycles. The motorcycle division of the company offers many models to its fans, but the most popular and sold all over the world is the Kawasaki Ninja 250. This bike will bring a lot of pleasure to both novice motorsport fans and those who cannot imagine life without speed. Motorcycle enthusiasts may remember the 1986 Ninja, but the 250R is significantly different from its predecessor in appearance and technical parameters, thanks to which the designers of the Japanese company managed to create an inexpensive and at the same time productive sports bike.

A small digression into history

Kawasaki Ninja 250 is a motorcycle that looks like more powerful "brothers" in its class. Despite the fact that the working volume of its engine is 248 cc. see, he looks dignified and with a little aggression. The first modifications of the Kawasaki Ninja 250 R were produced in 1986, after which this series became exemplary - most manufacturers began to focus on it, which began to produce road superbikes and tourist class motorcycles. The first modifications of this series were the GPZ and GPX models, which almost immediately after the release became one of the best-selling in the motor market. After the success of the pilot models, the company's management decided to put this bike into stream production. Having undergone many changes, in 2008, the 250R version became available to motorists with subsequent updates. appearance, motor power systems and a new wheelset.

Features of design and external execution

According to numerous reviews of the owners of the Kawasaki Ninja 250 and all those who have ever seen this motorcycle (even in the photo), the main style of the bike is quite aggressive, but complemented by smooth lines and somewhat rounded shapes. This design of the “little ninja” (as the designers and developers of the Kawasaki Corporation often call it) is facilitated by a special shape of the head light, made in the form of a twin headlight. Visual aggression is added by rear-view mirrors with slight angularities, made of impact-resistant polymer.

An important feature of the Kawasaki Ninja 250 R is an almost completely closed body and the main components are almost completely hidden behind a plastic fairing, in which there are many metal elements. The presence of such a fairing with additional sharp edges improves aero dynamic characteristics Kawasaki Ninja 250. The fender and fork fairing are made in the same aggressive style. The rear half of the bike is slightly raised above the wheelbase and is made in a pointed design, giving the technique a more sporty and high-speed look. The seat is double, made in two levels, thanks to which the 250R looks stylish and expensive. The 250 R muffler is quite large, with a chrome end on the right, giving the bike even more power outwardly.

When developing this Kawasaki model, the designers provided an informative dashboard located under the fairing and miniature windshield. The panel consists of an analog-style speedometer and tachometer, with additional indicators for low pressure, gasoline level, battery charge and air filter status. Depending on the preferences of the rider and the technical characteristics of the Kawasaki Ninja 250, it is available in four basic colors - green, blue, red and black.

Motorcycle engine and gearbox

The Kawasaki Ninja 250 owes its technical characteristics to a properly selected engine and a transmission designed specifically for it. It is necessary to note the professionalism of the Kawasaki specialists, who were able to create a “engine-gearbox” combination capable of satisfying most of the tasks set by motorcyclists.

The main feature of the engine installed on the 250R is the possibility of obtaining maximum torque, but at the same time reducing peak power characteristics. If you constantly use the average speed, then the motorcycle without much difficulty can pick up the required speed in a few seconds. For several years of production of the Kawasaki Ninja 250, the engine has been repeatedly upgraded in order to increase the reliability of the unit. As part of the improvements, larger cylinder heads were installed, reinforced piston group and slightly modified piston rings. An important point that significantly improved the performance of the Kawasaki Ninja 250 is the improvement of the fuel combustion chamber and the installation of a fuel injection system.

The Ninja 250 has a six-speed gearbox, gear ratios which are selected in such a way as to provide maximum comfort when driving in the city and on the highway. With the help of a chain, a drive is realized on rear wheel. This model uses a telescopic front fork and a Uni-Track rear fork (with five steps of adjustment). 17-inch wheels allow you to make the bike manageable and comfortable during operation, while they give it additional stability while driving both in city mode and when driving on highways.

Specifications

The manufacturer should be given credit for specifications of this model are selected in such a way that its owner gets maximum comfort, power and speed at an affordable price. In order to understand all the design features of the 250 R, it is worth considering in more detail its main technical parameters:

  • Engine - two-cylinder, in-line four-stroke, 248 cc. see, with 4 valves per cylinder. With this model, you can get a power of 33 hp. In order to optimize the operation of the motor as much as possible, it is equipped with liquid cooling, allowing for the minimum time to return the initial state power unit;
  • Fuel supply system - from 2008 to 2013 it was implemented on the basis of a 2x Keihin CVK30 carburetor, and since 2013 it has been replaced with an injector;
  • Transmission - reverse six-speed final drive directly to the chain;
  • Brake system - consists of two-piston calipers and single-bladed discs with a diameter of 290 mm (front brakes) and 220 mm ( rear brakes);
  • Frame and suspension - front fork is telescopic, rear - Uni-Track with lower arm mount.

The Kawasaki Ninja 250 motorcycle is designed in such a way as to implement solutions of faster and more powerful models in a fairly compact bike. Confirmation of this is the ability to accelerate the motorcycle to 170 km / h. At the same time, it is able to reach the speed of 100 km / h in just 6 seconds - this is enough high rate for motorcycles of this class.

The use of a fuel injection system made this bike quite economical - 3-4 liters per 100 kilometers, depending on the riding style and mode of travel. An 18-liter tank will be enough to drive 500-600 km without refueling.

Such a class of motorcycle as a sportbike is distinguished by many characteristics, few people buy a sportbike with an already powerful engine with a capacity of 600 cubic meters or more. That is why the motorcycle range is offered great choice small-capacity sportbikes. The legendary Kawasaki Ninja 250 is considered one of these. Experienced riders will find the presented model weak and frivolous, but the facts say otherwise, high demand is confirmed by the fact that Japanese brand Kawasaki Ninja 250 is considered the best selling model.

Reliable quality motor, aggressive modern design and excellent dynamic characteristics are the main advantages of the world-famous sportbike. The manufacturer itself positions the novelty as a motorcycle for beginners. But even despite this, the bike more than works out its power and even exceeds the understanding of the class of small-capacity vehicles. The Ninja motorcycle was first introduced back in 1986, when its design was, to put it mildly, simple. Today, if you look at the bike from the outside, it will be difficult to distinguish it from more powerful motorcycles, many compare the Ninja with 600cc models.

pros

  1. High speed and acceleration dynamics;
  2. The best option for beginners;
  3. Modern design;
  4. Japanese quality technology;
  5. Maneuverability and easy handling.

Minuses

  1. Too overpriced;
  2. The power is only suitable for beginner bikers;
  3. Lack of handles for the passenger.

Since the first release Japanese company Kawasaki is actively updating the current model, the bike already has a unique expressive design and better construction. These bikes show other manufacturers the direction they should be heading in - building agile small-capacity bikes.

Specifications Kawasaki Ninja 250

Unfortunately, many current representatives of Chinese and other motorcycle technology have spoiled the idea of \u200b\u200bsmall-capacity sportbikes, representing weak dynamics and poor quality. Motorcycles Kawasaki Ninja is best model up to 250 cubic meters. The power of the bike was 32 horsepower, which more than work out their indicator. The engine is 4-stroke for 2 cylinders, cooling occurs according to liquid system. Even if 32 hp you will seem weak, test the Kawasaki Ninja 250, the performance of the motorcycle is not comparable with the real dynamics and maximum speed. The main thing is to learn how to skillfully use power and shift gears. At maximum power the motorcycle produces up to 11,000 rpm. After the cherished 100 km / h, the acceleration dynamics remains at a high level, there is the possibility of a sharp acceleration.

The technical characteristics of the Ninja 250P provide the motorcycle with movement both on the city road and on the highway. A 6-speed box helps in this, where gear ratios are successfully selected. Softness in motion confirms the presence modern suspension, where in front is located telescopic fork, and at the rear is the adjustable Uni-Trak system. In some ways, the driving dynamics will be a little challenging for the absolute beginner, as the sportbike's top speed was 190 km/h. Any biker will want to squeeze the maximum, but not everyone can cope with such a mark. The motorcycle is also suitable for the urban cycle, for example, fuel injection occurs by different control of the two dampers, ensuring the distribution of power to the cylinders.

Kawasaki Ninja 250 engine

For Kawasaki motorcycle Ninja 250r specifications are most important in terms of engine.
