By the way, in the UAZ 469, when replacing the engine from the standard one to the ZMZ-409.10, fuel consumption fell from 15-17 liters per 100 kilometers to 11-12 liters.

Agree, the increase in power is significant, fuel consumption is reduced - at least these two reasons should prompt you to spend time replacing a standard engine. In addition, these operations will become the starting point for further tuning your UAZ 469.

If the reason is only a decrease in fuel consumption, then you can act as some owners of the UAZ 469 - deliberately disable the front axle. But here there is also a pitfall - with only one front axle on a serious off-road, you have nothing to do.

Therefore, there is a good alternative to reduce consumption without shutting down the bridge - to install gas equipment (fortunately there is more than enough space inside), even in tandem with a standard engine. Thus, in a mixed mode of operation, the flow rate will also be decently reduced.

According to special fans of the 469 model, to increase power, it is possible to replace the engine not with an injection engine, but with a diesel one, for example, with Andoria 4CT90. It is also pleasing that this engine is almost entirely domestic production and is very common on UAZ vehicles. The result will be approximately the same as when replacing with an injection one, only it will not fly out to you in a serious penny and will require a little less time and effort. As practice shows, the power of 90 horses is quite enough for a comfortable off-road ride. In addition, this engine is very similar in its structure to a regular one, so there should be no questions about maintenance and installation.

Very often the question arises of installing a foreign-made engine model on the UAZ 469. The answer to the question is simple - without changing the design of the front of the car, this cannot be done, and it will require a colossal amount of time, effort and money, and the result is unlikely to justify itself.

Therefore, since you have already purchased a domestic car, then be patriots to the end and install parts from a domestic manufacturer as well, they are at least cheaper. And there is no need to talk about the cost of repairing an exotic engine installed in an old UAZ 469.
