Renault Kaptur automatic, four-wheel drive reviews of the owners: all the disadvantages, disadvantages, advantages. Four-wheel drive Renault Kaptur Disadvantages and four-wheel drive

After overstepping a short foray into the territory of real off-road and getting acquainted with the great and terrible, the heading "five things for which ..." returns to the cozy territory of "urban crossovers". However, is it really that cozy? Renault Kaptur has been waging a war with another vigorous upstart - Hyundai Creta for a month now, about which and which turned out to be, to put it mildly, not infallible ... So what prevents the "Frenchman" from gaining the upper hand?

Hate # 5: Back row crowded

When assembling a compact crossover, as in principle when creating any car of small dimensions, engineers solve this problem: why give a little more space in the rear of the car - the trunk or the rear row of seats? In Renault Kaptur, the problem was solved in favor of the trunk, here it has quite a decent 387 liters in its assets. But if you are more than 180 cm tall, you are hardly destined to sit on the back sofa with the proper comfort - there are few places in the knees when landing "by itself". This is not the biggest problem of Capture, but many owners note it.

1 / 2

2 / 2

Love # 5: rich options

But in terms of equipping with options, Capture is in complete order. Yes, there are those who complain about clearly “marketing” configurations, forcing instead of the “middle” to take almost “full stuffing”, but this is, perhaps, a common place for most car brands in the middle price segment. But those who have chosen rich configurations invariably praise multimedia, cruise control, as well as powerful heating and blowing of the windshield. And the price does not fly to sky-high heights - for a little over a million you can get an almost top-version. Lot? But at Crete, more or less decent configurations are just beginning with this amount.

Hate # 4: poor visibility

A rather unexpected drawback for a modern crossover, because we all have long been accustomed to the wide body pillars of current cars - they are made as such in the name of passive safety. However, Kaptyur's front body pillars (the so-called "A" pillars), most likely, also have an extremely unsuccessful angle in terms of visibility - they are piled up to the roof so much that almost every second car owner rests on them with a glance - and writes a comment full of discontent about this. Small and uncomfortable side mirrors complete the picture, with which Kaptur continues the sad tradition laid down by Logan ... No, the mirrors are completely different, but, according to the owners, they still lack space.

Love # 4: high ground clearance

Maybe it’s not really out of place, but the UAZ Patriot comes to mind again - this love for him we got with continuous reservations: for any plus of the car there was always some “but”. Everything is not so bad at Kaptyur, but here this idea can be traced - there are those who declare that the ground clearance is, they say, good, but more could have been done.

Note that these comrades are clearly one of those who moved from the Niva or (again, he, but what is that, holy, holy!) Patriot. But those who owned civilian "puzoterki" are delighted with the geometric cross-country ability of Kaptyura. Indeed, 204 mm of clearance (albeit passport ones, with an error) is necessary and sufficient in the conditions of an average Russian city, where Kaptyura really belongs.

Hate # 3: no cup holders

It is impossible to create a car that suits a Russian if there is nowhere to put a glass in it. But seriously, with the useful volumes and cavities in the Kaptura cabin, it turned out to be an obvious mistake. In addition to the rattling "gazelle" box with a lid on the "crown" of the front panel and rather modest pockets in the doors of containers, there is simply no place - there is absolutely nowhere to put any everyday trifles like flash drives, pens, business cards and coins in the interior of the crossover.

The only niche entrusted with these functions is under the dashboard, and it is clearly overloaded with functions - it contains a cigarette lighter, a four-wheel drive control washer (on 4x4 versions), and that notorious cup holder. It is too small, glasses of any size do not hold in it, and high ones also interfere with the gearbox selector. A cup holder for rear passengers is no better, nothing can be put into it.

Love # 3: informative steering wheel

And here we will make a reservation - there are also those who do not consider the steering wheel of Kaptura to be adequately informative. However, if we take into account the rather civilian image of the car, the large suspension travels and by no means a low center of gravity, it turns out that the steering of Kaptyur is really set up quite well. The electrohydraulic booster does not transfer too much road trifle to your hands (the exception is uneven turns at high speeds) and tells the steering wheel quite; the car stands well on the high-speed line. Yes, this is not a sports car, but there is some kind of rally enthusiasm in it - thanks to the precise steering wheel and good suspension (see below).

Hate # 2: a cheaply decorated salon

Ardor with enthusiasm, and a Russian person loves to be richer, but for a lifting price - whatever one may say, but from the inside you look at your car 90% of the time. And here Kaptyur gives a blunder - even the most loyal buyers of this car celebrate the cheap hard plastic of the interior. This drawback, as it were, continues the previous reason for hatred - everything is not very good with the Capture's interior, from the texture of the plastic to the lack of illumination of important areas and several illogically located buttons. Yes, these are all budgetary costs. And even though the ergonomics of the interior space is well verified, a fair number of owners visit the feeling that comfort is a little lacking.

Love # 2: good exterior

But passers-by hardly know about these sorrows - they still continue to turn heads at Kaptyur. Moderately catchy front end, laconic feed, harmony in the proportions of the silhouette and an interestingly designed lower part of the sidewall, in which a wide molding forms a kind of "waist". Capture looks lean and very topical - it looks like Renault's head office has finally realized that even a not too expensive car should not look like a steamed rutabaga. Both men and women celebrate Capture's good looks - a rather rare case when the unisex design worked as it should.

Hate # 1: lack of momentum

This appearance and character would match! But no, judging by the reviews, none of the "engine + transmission" options provides sufficient acceleration dynamics. Owners of versions 1.6 MKP, 1.6 AKP (of course) and even 2.0 (AKP) complain about the sluggish nature of acceleration. A rather elderly four-band "automatic", installed on Kaptyur, is trying its best to save fuel, tucking the top gear already at 65 km / h, but it also remains voracious, and does not add a fighting character to the car. Appearances are deceptive? Perhaps this is the case with Renault Kaptur.

Love # 1: a proven platform

But to put a new, in the style of "foreign" Captur, body on the proven "trolley" Duster was absolutely the right decision of the developers. The suspension, of course, was reconfigured, but it, having remained a little roll in the corners, still swallows irregularities of any type with a bang. It is dense and very long-travel - this is what most modern crossovers are very lacking, and, therefore, this is what Kaptyur is utterly superior to competitors in. It has excellent suspension settings. And that's great.

It is interesting that during the months of owning a new car, Captyur, as a rule, does not reveal any significant defects of an operational nature, which is quite rare nowadays. The same Creta, with which comparisons cannot be avoided today, have a sufficient number of acquired "stocks". However, the number of small but sensitive design flaws that Kaptyur has, albeit slightly, outweighs in the eyes of consumers the disadvantages of Crete, which has powerful motors, a solid interior and an equally rich scattering of options. Today, this is valued more than the absence of corrosion and electronics problems. Perhaps that is why Hyundai Creta is now in sixth place in the Russian Federation, and Renault Kaptur is only in seventeenth ...

But for both of these crossovers, which have recently appeared on the market, the "bouquet and candy" period of life with their owners from among the first purchasers has already come to an end. And there is a feeling that over a long distance Kaptyur has additional chances for leadership ... Wait and see!

Reviews

The car looks modern, the design, I think, is good. It is important for me that everything in the car is not too complicated: the simpler, the more reliable. There are no turbines, aluminum suspension arms, high-pressure power supply systems ... I am only happy about this.

The motor is chain, it runs quietly, it eats with my quiet driving in the city on the 8.4 l / 100 km onboard computer of the 95th. The variator is smooth, simulates the operation of a machine.
The dynamics, of course, are calm - there are no miracles.

Noise isolation pleases, the cabin is quiet. There is enough space. The trunk is not a record, but, fortunately, apart from a couple of sports bags and bags from supermarkets, I carry nothing there. Music sounds so-so, listen to the radio and the flash drive will go.

Suspension from Duster, fulfills bumps perfectly. The ground clearance of 205 mm is impressive. It's comfortable to sit behind the wheel, there are enough adjustments. Was at zero maintenance after a month of operation - no complaints. I don't feel any vivid emotions, just a solid car.

Video owner's review of Renault Captur

The first thing that you have to get used to is the mechanic's 6-mortar box, with the 1st lowering, then, like everyone else, you can get under way from the second, i.e. in fact, the box is 5-speed, but with a "lowering". You touch the second, i.e. it is like the first, but in the place of the second, the second in the place of the third, etc. a little unusually, but you get used to it.

The first four gears are very short, starting from 60-65 km / h the computer asks for the 6th. At first it chilled out a bit, but then caught up: cruise control. It turned out to be a very convenient thing: it accelerated to 60, i.e. up to 6th gear, you turn on the cruise and then you can forget about the gas pedal on a more or less free track, adjust the speed only with the buttons on the steering wheel, you relax. For example, on a cruise at 110-120, it shows a flow rate of ~ 8 liters.

Of the shortcomings, in my opinion: when buying, listen to the engines - in our first one, which was chosen, after 5 minutes of warming up, a slight floating knock appeared, they took another typewriter. After I read that this is a common problem with these engines, and after a year it allegedly crawls out for everyone, we'll see. The doors ... do not close well, even after they have become a little heavier from Shumkov (there is something to compare with).

Ergonomics: some buttons cannot be reached without looking (the same cruise control under the handbrake, for example), some buttons are not in their usual places. Too bad there is no armrest. Siduhi ... you can live, but the lateral support is rather weak and an adjustable lumbar support would be nice.

Review of Renault Kaptur 2.0 all-wheel drive 4x4 with mechanics

After 1,500 km, the car seemed to be transformed. The engine began to produce its 143 horsepower. There was throttle response and dynamics. In city traffic Kaptyur rides with the "Economy" function quite confidently, I am not experiencing any difficulties now. Fuel consumption dropped to 11.5 liters, which is quite acceptable for a two-liter engine with a gun.

On the highway, with a continuous stream and the need for fast overtaking, I turn off the Economy function, and my Renault Kaptur 2.0 4WD AT becomes completely different. Overtaking heavy trucks does not cause any difficulties. Acceleration from 100 to 130 is just a song, although driving on a highway with an automatic transmission requires certain skills.

Suspension Capture is harsh. On a bad road at a speed of 90 km / h, all small irregularities are felt on the steering wheel and on the "fifth point". I think that the settings of the suspension and power steering have an effect. My former Beetle went through small irregularities excellently, you just don't feel them, but it's easy to pierce the suspension in deeper holes. Captur does not allow the suspension to break through, under any circumstances. Apparently, after all, Renault engineers prepared Captur not for road trips, but most likely for off-road driving.

Due to the rigid suspension, driving on the track does not give much pleasure. An automatic transmission has a twofold feeling. Four speeds are enough for driving in city mode, and there are no special remarks on the track. But in the city there are cases of hard switching from the first to the second. Not always, but there are hard shocks.

Owner's review of Renault Kaptur 2.0 with automatic and all-wheel drive 4 × 4

Where can I buy?

I can say that the automatic transmission did not disappoint me. Switches on time, without jerking, switching is imperceptible. It works absolutely adequately and predictably. High seating is nice. Good noise, the engine is not audible, the noise from the wheels does not bother. I did not notice aerodynamic noise either.

Overtaking trucks on the track without any problems, from 90 to 130 accelerates confidently without any kickdowns. At a speed of 110-120, the average consumption for the computer is 7.8 liters per hundred. The sound is so-so, weak.

Roman, review of Renault Capture 2.0 (143 hp) 4WD automatic 2016

Clearance. It is declared 204 mm, "average" in reality is more, while not a single curb in front has scratched. The drive on Renault Capture, in my opinion, is excellent, the acceleration characteristics are better than on the Duster. Naturally, I'm talking about a 6-speed manual transmission.

Also on the car there are excellent wipers, they clean without "snot", a huge coverage of the surface and do not need to be changed for the winter. Seats: heaven and earth, compared to Duster. Seats in the cabin, as in Duster, the ceiling seems lower, and the sides seem wider.

The headlights are better on one side, plus the LED daytime running lights, but on the other hand, I liked the feeling of two beams of light better than this diffuse light.

Of the minuses of Kaptura, the trunk has become smaller. First of all, because of the massive plastic overlays. A standard wooden-aluminum shovel could easily fit into the duster, but not here. You can contrive and shove, but the shovel will scratch the entire floor.

An unpleasant glitch was found on the speedometer. Initially, the numbers were shown in a beautiful rounded font, but (perhaps after the first frost) then “burrs” began to be drawn along the edges of the numbers.

Of the critical ones, this is the gas tank flap. Here they put the opening from the button (which, by the way, is in the very dirt next to the rug). The ingenious engineers pulled all the giblets of the lock out (two tiny latches) and did not work on sealing. As a result, moisture and snow gets under the lid and the hatch freezes dead. This is a very serious flaw.

Review about Renault Captur 2017 in a new body 2.0 on the mechanics

All-wheel drive is an integral part of any crossover. Despite the fact that the developers initially positioned the SUV segment for the city and light off-road, many still begin to try to overcome difficult places and knead the dirt, breaking all stereotypes. But in any case, the condition of most of our roads leaves much to be desired, so the Renault Captur all-wheel drive is very relevant.

The initially popular European version in its original form most likely would not be in great demand on the Russian market, since it had a small turbocharged engine and only front-wheel drive, so it most likely could not overcome obstacles such as snow porridge, high curbs.

Therefore, the designers, before releasing this model to our market, finalized it, as a base, it was decided to install the BO platform and the 4x4 system, which is used in Duster.

The all-wheel drive on this model is plug-in and works according to the classic scheme, that is, constant traction is supplied to the front wheels, and connected to the rear wheels if necessary. The rear wheels are powered by an electromagnetic GKN clutch. If suddenly the front wheels begin to slip, some of the torque is automatically transferred to the rear axle.

According to French engineers, improvements were made to the system as a result of which the multi-plate clutch was increased, which made it possible to digest a lot of traction, as well as not overheat during prolonged work.

If everything is as the engineers say, then Renault Kaptur will have a huge advantage over its competitors, since it is the problem with overheating of the clutch that almost all crossovers have. Most of them cannot even get out of the snowdrift, and in order to overcome a large protracted area where ice or mud can not be spoken at all.

Modes

Renault Kaptur 4x4 has three transmission modes, such as:

  • 2WD is a conventional front wheel drive mode and is tuned to use as little fuel as possible.
  • Auto - in this position, the system itself begins to choose when to connect the rear axle.
  • 4WD Lock - this mode is a feature of the crossover, so Lock forcibly locks the clutch, which allows the torque to be distributed between the axles in half.

For example, if most competitors, when activating this system, can drive no more than 60 km / h, then Kaptur can develop it up to 80 km / h. According to the dealer, not every SUV is capable of this. It is clear that the permanent drive is designed for bad road conditions where you can't really accelerate, but 60 km / h is still not enough.

The four-wheel drive version has a gearbox with an integrated transfer case, which transfers torque to the rear gearbox. When the gearbox receives torque, the electromagnetic clutch starts to work, and it either stops the transmission, or transfers it further, and the torque, in turn, is reached by the rear wheels thanks to the gearbox and constant velocity joints.

To switch from one mode to another, the driver just needs to turn a special washer. That is, the Renault Kaptur 4x4 transmission with a simple movement allows the car to make it all-wheel drive and ready to overcome serious off-road conditions, and the speed can reach up to 80 km / h, leaving its competitors behind.

Outcome

As you can see, the designers, while designing this model, focused on improving off-road qualities. The car owner, by simply turning a special washer, can independently choose which drive mode is needed at the moment. But it is worth remembering that it is better not to use the LOCK mode for a long time, even despite all the improvements and improvements, since there is a possibility of overheating of the clutch.

The appearance of the car.
- Energy-intensive suspension. Swallows large irregularities well. Comfortable driving. Travel, suspension - moderately soft, moderately hard I like. irregularities, pits "swallows" class!
- Informative clear steering wheel.
- Capacious washer reservoir.
- I liked the work of Cruise control.

The frankly weak plastic of the front panel with an excellent design, the designers did not have enough fuse for the plastic for the front panel at least of average quality. To the touch, it is a tarpaulin boot, although not to say that there is a phenolic smell in the cabin. Gives glare to the windshield. The joints of the dashboard and the right door do not coincide significantly. The gaps of the panel are different from the driver's side, it is not, but from the passenger side it is obvious, there is not enough elastic to cover the gap https://www.drive2.ru/l/10578994/
- Ergonomics miscalculations, the absence of cup holders (the one in the tunnel is terribly uncomfortable, the console between the driver and the passenger is disgustingly designed, this is the most cheap element of the cabin, also inconvenient in everything, the position of the automatic transmission lever is not highlighted, everything is by touch, the engine start button and the armrest just look like an orphan.The cruise control and speed limit buttons are located very inconveniently - under the handbrake handle.
- Although LG's multimedia is presented as a necessary functionality, I personally did not like it, and here's why: the quality of MP3 files playback is very mediocre, it does not play video, even a photo cannot be viewed, frequency adjustments do not change the situation too much. The screen is of low brightness and clarity, on a sunny day it is perceived unimportantly, the delay in turning on the rear-view camera with dynamic markings on the screen when switching to the "R" mode, drowned out-started all the settings go astray.
- Lack of a normal wide armrest with boxing.
- Missing glasses case
- buttons for turning on the heated seats with the 1st mode without illumination, located not very well.
- There is no illumination for adjusting the mirrors.
- There is no illumination of the keys on the steering wheel.
- On the machine, weak dynamics (with manual "poking" and when spinning up for 4000-5000 still drives a little.
- Small tank, I would like at least 80 liters for this car.
- High fuel consumption.
- Inconvenient adjustment of the central air deflectors.
- The A-pillars are wide and strongly sloped, which gives the "dead zone" a lot. And I would like more side mirrors.
- Bolts of fastening of seat belts without plastic caps (even on VAZ they are closed)
- Little space in the back.
- The trunk is too small.
- The area of the rear seat (the back part, where you can see the fastening bolt), there was not enough carpet, and also where is the hood opening handle (maybe just me?)
- The rear glass is not glued evenly (clearly visible)
- After installing the trailer (I removed the bumper for laying the wiring and connection), the plastic body kits of the rear wheel arches do not stand up normally, although everything is in place and all the latches are intact.
- I tried to sleep in the driver's seat ... I twisted it for an hour and drove on. The more you lower it, the steeper the protrusion rests against your lower back. I don’t know how anyone, but I’m complete crap. In Prior, Niva, Grant is better.
- Lack of factory roof rails (could have already been delivered in the latest configuration).
- Alarm - low sensitivity, closing / opening on the key fob is not displayed, the maximum autostart threshold at subzero temperatures is -5 gr.

A distinctive feature of Renault Kaptur is that the car was initially oriented (and not adapted) for the roads of our country. Renault Captur 2.0 with all-wheel drive for our market has a visual similarity to the European model, but a completely different meaning. Unlike its European counterpart, the car is produced on the modernized Duster platform.

Our Kaptur is much wider, taller, longer than the "European", and also more powerful in the wheelbase. Also, there is more crossover than the European car.

Unlike Duster, Kaptur is focused on the young category of the population. The manufacturer offers an interesting personalization program, 19 options, the possibility of two-tone body painting and many useful options.

Enough time has passed since the start of sales. The car has gained considerable popularity among our compatriots. What do owners say based on operating experience?

Owner review

Renault Kaptur 2017, automatic transmission, four-wheel drive (4WD), 2.0 petrol engine with 143 hp.

I never thought I'd buy Renault, but my budget was limited. I thought about taking a loan with early repayment. Having driven around the salons, I realized that I don't have to buy a good car at an adequate cost.

After assessing my budget, capabilities, needs, and also moderating wishes, I decided that Kaptur was my only chance. As planned, I took out the car on credit for three years.

I bought a car to ride in a small city, sometimes to go out into the countryside, to go fishing. Despite the fact that Renault was created on the basis of Duster, the developers managed to create a completely new car, from the exterior to the electronics. At first glance, it seems that there is no connection with Duster.

Appearance

The exterior attracted the car immediately. Looks young, stylish, bright and somewhat aggressive. Marketers are a big fat plus. In terms of technical equipment, the car will also give odds to its competitors in this category.

The model seems to be in demand. I noticed that there are more and more Kaptyurov on our roads. Kaptyur, like Duster, came to the taste of our people.

Took four-wheel drive, two-liter engine and automatic. I completed the purchase quickly. They kept me in the salon for no more than two hours. I received a keychain and rubber mats as a gift.

The body is well made. Inside, everything is also at a good level. Of course, not luxury, and the materials are cheap, but everything is neat and decent. The car justifies its cost. The assembly is good, high quality, there are no gaps, no defects. I heard that there is a low build quality on Captyura. But the manufacturer promised to fix this nuance. Either I really fixed it, or I was just lucky.

Renault Captur advantages

A significant advantage of the car is its high ground clearance and excellent cross-country ability, which is to be expected, since the car is adapted to our realities. The car is designed for our roads, it is not scary to go out of town, on a fishing trip, or off-road. And at the same time, being in the cabin is quite comfortable.

Due to the real ground clearance, it will be really difficult to catch on the curb with such indicators. But even if this happens, the damage will be negligible.

Also, the pluses include the following qualities:

  • Beautiful appearance, rich light, everything is solid and stylish;
  • Excellent standard wheels in 17 inches;
  • Plastic body kit along the perimeter at the bottom, no thresholds;
  • There are wheel arches, Shumka. As for a budget car, the car is relatively quiet;
  • Despite the fact that the salon is made with budget materials, everything looks neat, stylish and pretty;
  • Excellent ergonomics;
  • The presence of many useful options - keyless access, central locking, car factory, hands-free system (the car closes itself, no need to make unnecessary gestures);
  • Comparative normal quality of the audio system;
  • There is bluetooth, and it works, which pleases;
  • The interior uses plastic of quite normal quality;
  • The fabric upholstery of the seats is of good quality.

The good news is that the car has many options that are rarely found in models of this category - navigation, instead of an alarm, a key with a remote control, heated windshield, crankcase, folding mirrors, chrome muffler trim and others.

Disadvantages and four-wheel drive

There are also disadvantages. I cannot say that there are few of them and they are insignificant. Some of them are very annoying.

So what's not to like:

  • The automatic transmission does not always work clearly;
  • Difficult to pack;
  • For a very long time, the reverse video camera screen turns on (I think that this Windows freezes);
  • There is no armrest (not a big problem, you can buy and install it yourself);
  • Doors, trunk, stowaway do not close very conveniently;
  • The dynamics of the car is slightly unfinished. Up to about 120 km everything is fine, but after that strange sensations are created, as if jerks. The ride is, in general, comfortable. However, this is annoying.

Another disadvantage is the difficulty of parking. This is because there is no dynamic layout on the camera. At the same time, there are parking sensors. They squeak strongly, you want to turn them off all the time. After turning on the machine, they turn on independently, regardless of the settings. The large dimensions of the car create difficulties with parking. Even me, a driver with 15 years of experience, is uncomfortable.

There are also minor drawbacks - the joystick for adjusting the mirrors is inconvenient, there is no illumination in the mirrors in the visors, weak windshield wipers, a rear window splash guard. The controls are located in a peculiar way. I will not say that it is bad, but I still can’t get used to them.

Road behavior

The manufacturer has made a decent car. Externally, the car looks stylish, modern. Indestructible suspension. , the box perfectly pulls the considerable weight of the car. The car drives smoothly, sometimes slight twitching is noticeable. The visibility is excellent, there is enough light, there are almost no dead zones.

Despite, the car enters the turns well, there are no strong rolls. And this despite the fact that the suspension is with a beam, drums and other "charms". All this stuff is driven, surprisingly, very convenient.

Instead of a conclusion

Renault Capture four-wheel drive is a good car for our roads, which replaced Duster. Would I recommend buying such a car? I think that everyone decides for himself what he will sacrifice or not. In general, the car is not bad, but only within its class. For that kind of money, everything looks very good.
