BMW 7 series e65 specifications. BMW E65 car: description, specifications, features and reviews. Engines and modifications

What is BMW 7 Series? This is prestige, power, comfort and very, well, very big money. Only really rich people are able to buy a new G7. However, even a 3-5-year-old car is not available to a very large number of Russians. After all, even a used "seven" is a pretty decent financial investment both in the purchase and in the operation of the car.
The first appearance of the BMW 7 Series in the back of the E65 in 2001 caused a real shock among the public. Nobody expected such a bold design from BMW. A significant part of motorists considered and still consider the BMW 7 Series E65 to be the ugliest car in the entire history of the brand's existence. However, now people have already got used to its design.

In fact, now is a good time for buyers of used BMW 7 Series. Many aftermarket vehicles are 3-6 years old and are relatively inexpensive compared to new ones. Moreover, you can save a decent amount, because such expensive cars are getting cheaper quickly. At the same time, the BMW 7-series in the back of the E65 is still being produced (in 2005, the model was modernized, but externally restyled cars are not much different from the "sevens" of the old model). And this only adds prestige to the owner.

Our market for BMW 7 Series is now mainly supplied from the USA. Due to the difference in the exchange rate of the dollar and the euro, the American "sevens" are so profitable that it simply does not make sense to bring them from the Old World. And if there is a BMW 7 Series on the market “a week from Germany”, you need to be especially careful: it must have already been in a serious accident and passed through the hands of the Baltic masters (or there is a criminal trail behind it). According to the craftsmen, BMW 7 Series from America mostly come to us in decent condition, because the buyers of such cars were very wealthy people and hardly saved on maintenance (however, do not forget to demand the auction list from the seller and “break through »Before buying a car according to Carfax and AutoCheck databases). There are also cars on the market that were originally sold in Russia. The main advantage of such "sevens" is that you can almost always trace their fate and thereby protect yourself from buying a stolen car.

BMW 7-series, like almost all models of the "F" class according to the European classification, was produced in two modifications - with a short and long wheelbase (E66 body). The difference in length between them is 140 mm. Considering that even the "small" "seven" is a very large car, the extra 140 mm is not so important, especially if you are driving yourself. But, on the other hand, there is a question of prestige - elongated cars look more serious. In addition, armored vehicles can also be found on sale. It is not recommended to buy such a used car unless your life is really in danger. Armor is, of course, "cool", but is it worth paying extra for it, especially considering that such cars break down more often than ordinary ones?

Masters advise not only to inspect the body for an accident, but also to check how the doors work. They are equipped with special hydraulic cylinders, thanks to which the door is fixed in any position. Moreover, for its maximum opening, additional effort is required.

Salon "seven" is full of electronics. Naturally, you need to carefully check the functionality of the iDrive, watch how the controller rotates, located next to the center armrest. And you also need to make sure that the electronic key, parking sensors and seat heating are working (often the chairs also have the function of a massager).

At first, two V8 engines were installed under the hood of the BMW 7 Series: a volume of 3.6 liters (272 hp) and 4.4 liters (333 hp). Accordingly, cars with such engines were called BMW 735i and BMW 745i. But then the BMW 730i became available with a 6-cylinder gasoline unit with a volume of 3.0 liters (231 hp), a 730d with a 3-liter diesel engine (218 hp) and a 740d with a 3.9 liter V8 diesel engine (258 h.p.). But the coolest "seven" was the version of the BMW 760i with a 6.0 liter V12, which produces 445 hp. At the moment, buyers of used cars will most likely choose among these powertrains.

If there is money for a relatively fresh restyled "seven", the following models will be available: BMW 730i (3.0 l, 258 hp), 740i (4.0 l, 306 hp), 750i (4, 8 L, 367 HP), 760i (6.0 L, 445 HP), 730d (3.0 L, 231 HP) and 745d (4.4 L, 300 HP). , and recently already 330 hp). We can also mention the unique BMW Hydrogen 7 - the hydrogen "seven". However, such cars with a V12 volume of 6.0 liters (260 hp) did not go on sale to the public, and it is currently impossible to find it on the secondary market.

Which engine to take is up to the buyer. Moreover, the choice must be made based not on the technical characteristics, volume or maximum speed of the car - it all depends on what impression the owner wants to make on others. After all, even the simplest "seven" has excellent dynamics. In fact, in terms of price / quality ratio, cars with a 3-liter gasoline engine or a V8 with a volume of 3.6 liters are optimal.

There are no complaints about the reliability of the power units. The BMW service technicians cannot recall even the relatively weak points of these engines. Moreover, what is very important, BMW engines with a system of constantly changing phases of operation of intake and exhaust valves Bi-VANOS and a system of continuous valve lift control Valvetronic consume Russian fuel relatively calmly. BMW assures that any unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 to 98 can be poured into the tank of the car (some masters even advise using the 92nd fuel, which contains fewer additives).

"Seven" in the back of E65 / 66 has a diagnostic system for monitoring the technical condition of the car, which itself prompts when a service visit is required. Experience shows that, on average, 7 Series owners have to do maintenance every 15,000–20,000 km.

The "seven" has only one gearbox - a 6-speed "automatic" with the possibility of manual shifting developed by ZF. The main feature of the transmission is the location of the shift selector. It is not located between the driver and passenger, but under the steering wheel, as in many American cars. The box is very reliable, but by now on some machines it can be "killed". And here you need to be careful, because the purchase of a new "machine" will require about $ 6,000, and it is not always amenable to repair.

There are two types of suspension. With simple motors, there is often a traditional chassis, but cars with a V12 necessarily have not only a system for continuously changing the stiffness of the shock absorbers, but also a Dynamic Drive system. The latter is the so-called active anti-roll bars, which are equipped with a hydraulic motor. Thanks to these intelligent anti-roll bars, body roll during cornering is significantly reduced. A car with all these suspension "bells and whistles" turns out to be more comfortable than the car in the basic configuration. Therefore, if you take a BMW 7 Series with this option, you will probably not be disappointed (for cars with 6- and 8-cylinder engines, all this went as an option and cost about $ 5500). However, there is also a flip side to the coin: after a run of 60,000-100,000 km, these very stabilizers may become unusable on our roads, replacement of which will cost at least a couple of thousand dollars. Plus, we shouldn't forget about the complex pneumatic struts with adjustable stiffness, which also cost a lot. As for the levers, their resource in Russia is about 70,000 km (a set for one wheel costs about $ 350).

The steering on the BMW 7 Series E65 / 66 is more reliable than before. Although if the car has already covered more than 120,000 km, problems may appear here too. True, it usually does not come to replacing the rail. As for the steering rods that often wear out on our roads, there is nothing wrong with that, because their replacement costs only about $ 150. For a car like the BMW 7 Series, that's a pittance.

The BMW 7 Series E65 / 66 is one of the most prestigious vehicles in our aftermarket. The price of more or less decent "sevens" starts at $ 40,000. Anything that is cheaper is probably not worth taking: it is easy to run into broken, stolen or frankly rolled cars. Generally speaking, the "seven" has shown itself to be a very reliable car. She has only two relatively weak points: the electrics (more precisely, a huge number of all kinds of "bells and whistles" that sometimes "glitch") and the suspension. The latter, however, wears out quickly solely because of the quality of our asphalt.

EXCURSION
The first BMW 7 Series appeared back in 1977. This model with the E23 body was equipped with 2.8 liter and 3.5 liter carburetor engines, producing 170 hp. and 184 hp. respectively. In 1978, the car received a 3.5 liter injection engine (197 hp), and in 1979 a version of the 750i Turbo with a turbocharged 3.2 liter engine (252 hp) appeared.

The second generation of the BMW 7 Series was released in 1986 (E32 body). This car was made not only in a standard form, but also with an extended wheelbase. Under the hood of the E32, engines with a volume of 3.0 liters (188 hp), 3.4 liters (211 hp or 220 hp) and 5.0 liters (300 hp) were installed.

The third generation of the "seven" was introduced in 1994. The model received the internal factory designation E38. It was this car that became a truly real competitor to the Mercedes-Benz S-class. The car was equipped with the following gasoline units: 2.8 L (193 HP), 3.5 L (238 HP), 4.4 L (286 HP) and 5.4 L (326 HP). With.). The diesels had a volume of 2.5 liters, 2.9 liters and 4.0 liters (143 hp, 193 hp and 245 hp, respectively).

Well, the premiere of the fourth generation BMW 7 Series took place in 2001 (an extended version was shown in 2002).

The body received the designation E65 (E66 - for a model with an increased wheelbase). In 2005, the car underwent an upgrade. Currently BMW sells "sevens" in the following modifications: 730i (3.0 L, 258 HP), 740i (4.0 L, 306 HP), 750i (4.8 L, 367 HP). from.), 760i (6.0 L, 445 HP), diesel 730d (3.0 L, 231 HP) and 745d (4.4 L, 330 HP).

It is assumed that at the end of this or early 2009, BMW will unveil a completely new "seven".

Using automatic selection of tires and wheels for the car BMW 7 (E65, E66), you can avoid many problems associated with their compatibility and compliance with the recommendations of the car manufacturers. After all, these components have a huge impact on a whole range of vehicle performance characteristics, from handling to dynamic qualities. In addition, one cannot fail to note the importance of tires and rims as active safety elements. That is why the choice between them should be made as responsibly as possible, which presupposes the presence of a whole range of knowledge about these products.

Unfortunately, only a small part of car owners own such technical nuances. This situation makes the automatic matching system an extremely useful tool in preventing wrong choices when purchasing tires and rims. And there is plenty to choose from, thanks to the widest range of such products presented in the Mosavtoshina online store.

Produced in 2001-2008, it has never been so cheap. The cost of copies of the early years of release starts at $ 5,000! Is it worth buying a second-hand "seven" today, what kind of branded "sores" it has and how much does it cost to repair certain components and assemblies, the journalist found out on the site.

It is clear that copies of the E65 / E66 for $ 5000 will be able to "take me to Gatovo", nevertheless there are enough cars on the market up to $ 10,000. It is possible to buy a pre-styling "seven" cheaper than a new "state employee". And the choice is more than sufficient - in our database of ads there are 120 "sevens" of this generation! But what will the new owner face? Wouldn't operating such a car ruin him? To find out, we went to the Kamennaya Gorka service station, where the master Artem works, who has been specializing in BMW for several years.

"In fact, not everything is so scary with the E65. As practice shows, the same E60, about which, for some reason, usually cause more problems. The 7-series at least has no questions with positive wiring. But there are many other" sores ", which is worth talking about, - the specialist begins his story. - In general, there is nothing wrong with this car if you buy a copy that is not "killed".

"Seven" zero years and to this day amazes with the quality of the finish, crazy dynamics and controllability. Even the multimedia equipment is not that outdated against the background of modern cars. Well, the once controversial design now looks just familiar. In 2001-2008. only about 350 thousand cars were produced, and 150 thousand were produced before the 2005 restyling. The early restyling of the model is mainly caused by the desire to solve the problems with the reliability of some components, therefore, if the budget allows, it is better to take a closer look at cars after 2005 onwards.

Operating experience

At the service station, there were just two cars under repair: a pre-styling copy with a 4.4 2004 gasoline engine. and a restyled version of 2008 onwards. with diesel engine 3.0.

The first one was bought six months ago at around $ 10,000 in a very good condition. At the moment, the mileage is at least 240,000 km. During this time, excluding rubber, $ 2000 was invested in the car. It could have invested less, but the owner scrupulously monitors the state - he changes everything. If you take a car "for restoration", then it will ask for much more money.

The second copy has been in the possession of the Belarusian owner for 6 years. Car from Germany, on the odometer at the moment about 180,000 km. The owner does not like it - he says that, apart from repairing the gearbox, replacing the rear air suspension pump, removing the particulate filter and flaps in the intake manifold, there were no special repairs. According to him, maintenance was mainly carried out - changing the oil, filters, the suspension was moved once. Most interestingly, the car has become cheaper in recent years to maintain: aluminum levers are now being restored, cheap windshields have appeared, spare parts have become more affordable. To maintain such a car, according to the owner, is absolutely not expensive. Only the gearbox repair was expensive - $ 1700.

Body

The model has no problems with anti-corrosion resistance, the frankly rusty "sixty-fifths" have not yet come across the master, although the oldest copies are already almost 16 years old.

“The maximum number of“ tired ”cars from Russia was two or three bugs, and that’s all,” says Artem. “There will be no problems with rust if there was no road accident and poor-quality body repair.”

The front end of the body is made of steel and is not riveted like the E60, which is also good.

The wiper blades have an original attachment and built-in washer nozzles, so ordinary "wipers" from gas stations will not work, and a set of new original ones costs 80 euros. Some people save - they only change rubber bands, which cost a penny. Nevertheless, the frames of the brushes still wear out, over time, the visor begins to scratch the windshield. But if earlier this glass cost a lot of money, today it is full of Chinese and Russian counterparts. Also, do not forget to put the brushes in the service position if it becomes necessary to lift them, otherwise they will scratch the edge of the hood.

The plastic underneath is easily broken and lost. It costs a lot of money, but used parts appear on "showdowns". So when buying, you should pay close attention to the presence of underbody kit and sills.

But the biggest problem in our area is the theft of parking sensors and expensive photochromic mirrors. It is better not to leave the car just like that in the yard. Everything in a circle has already been stolen from the owner of a restyled BMW.

"There are 8 parking sensors on three planks in total, each one costs $ 20, each plank - from 15 to 20 dollars apiece. During an act of vandalism, among other things, wires are also damaged," the master comments.

And this is what we count as used parts! The owner of the dark blue car bought everything new - he paid $ 1100 for all repairs after theft. In this case, the bumpers have not yet been painted! In general, the "fit" for two salaries that are not yet the average for the country.

Even if the photochromic mirror is not stolen, it can leak easily, like a gray car. In the secondary market, "glass" costs $ 50-60.

The boot lid hydraulic drive and its electronic control unit often fail.

Salon and electrical

Finishing materials are very durable. For example, a car with a mileage of 240,000 km does not even have a hint of any scuffs. At the same time, if you do not forget to take care of your skin, then the period of occurrence of problems can be postponed for many years.

The comfort and equipment of the cabin command respect to this day. What does not happen here! Refrigerator, night vision camera, adaptive cruise control, seat massage and more, more, more ...

Because of this amount of equipment, the car is very picky about the characteristics and quality of the battery. But an abnormal situation can also happen.

“For example, door handles of cars equipped with a comfortable access function very often fail. As a result, after closing the car, numerous electronic units do not“ fall asleep. ”As a result, in the morning the owner discovers a car with a completely discharged battery. - 250 euros ", - says Artem.

The electrical system of the car, to put it mildly, is not the simplest one. Multiplex data buses - with many controllers and control units, literally one controller in each door and seat ... All this can either simply fail completely, or "mope" a little, and it is not known what is easier to cope with. In general, the electrical is done with high quality, but there is already a lot of it.

"There are more blocks than the E60, but one cannot say that the electrics are unreliable. Yes, there are various problems, but all this is being repaired. And there are no problems with the power wires, like the" five. " that there are errors on the airbags. There were problems with the navigation units and the telephone. The electric "handbrake" is also one of the "sores", however, the problem is mainly related to the cables. ", - the master notes.

The optics also have their own nuances: "Over time, the headlights begin to shine poorly on the road. The lenses lose their performance, the plastic becomes cloudy. Nothing can be done about this - just replace the headlights."

Motors

The most common engines in our market are the 4.4 and 4.8 liter V8 N62 petrol engines, as well as the M57 diesel three-liter "six".

"The weakest point of gasoline V8s is the valve stem seals. Problems begin literally after the first 60-80 thousand kilometers, the cost of repair is 400-600 dollars. The engine itself is" snotty "- it is difficult to find a car without fogging oil through various connections, especially valve covers often leak . Vanos fail, sometimes the solenoid valves. Rarely, but the valve lift control system can be troubling. Often there are problems with the generator, which is equipped with water cooling. Its repair is expensive. With runs there are problems with camshafts. In general, of course, these motors are far from millionaires , not even half a million, but by modern standards they are quite reliable, "the specialist says.

The 3-liter diesel M57 in various modifications is considered the most successful and reliable power unit, which pleases with efficiency and excellent traction.

"It has the same problems as any diesel engine. In the event of a malfunction, the repair will not be the most budgetary. The nozzles fail, the turbine starts to" snot "and wear out. The price of each is 250 euros. There are oil leaks, especially often the charge pipes of the intercooler leak. On pre-styling cars, the swirl flaps in the intake manifold can fall into the engine and cause damage. axes, as a result, it hits the glow plugs, the EGR control solenoid valve, the starter. In the dark blue car, the dampers just started to flow - the starter was flooded with oil, which was out of order. ...

Diesel particulate filter problems occur on average at a mileage of 250,000 km. A new one costs 500 euros, so owners often remove it. If necessary, the engine control unit is flashed.

The particulate filter is removed here without problems, but the car starts to smoke, and even spits out black clouds of smoke when accelerating.

The torsional vibration damper often fails. It costs about $ 300. The resource is about 150,000 km. Despite the presence of specific problems, with proper operation, the M57 can withstand more than one hundred thousand kilometers.

"Is it worth taking a V12? There are a lot of spark plugs, a lot of coils, the engine is very complicated - in the event of a malfunction, they usually change the entire engine. Besides, the fuel consumption is far from acceptable," the specialist says.

The 3-liter gasoline unit of the M54 series of the pre-styling "seven" has proven itself well, but there are not many such options in our market. Its only serious problem is the crankcase ventilation system valve clogged with sludge. For preventive purposes, mechanics recommend updating it every second or third oil change.

Transmission

There is only one transmission - a 6-speed automatic transmission ZF 6HP26. On average, its resource before the first repair is 250,000 km. The main problems are wear of the torque converter lock-up linings, valve body failures-mechatronics due to overheating and dirty oil. But the box has long been mastered in repair, so fixing it in case of something is not a problem. The main thing is not to start the situation, but at the first signs of malfunctions, contact the specialists.

“The most important thing is that periodic oil changes are required, although there is no official maintenance schedule. At the same time, in order to change the filter, you also need to change the plastic sump, which costs about $ 100,” says Artem.

If you don't change the oil with the filter and drive aggressively, then you won't have to wait long for problems with the gearbox. On a dark blue car, as we wrote above, the automatic transmission was repaired, since the valve body was out of order.

Suspension and steering

BMW E65 has a quite acceptable resource of the main suspension elements. Front and rear - multi-link circuits with aluminum levers. There is a selection of OE replacement parts on the market, besides, bushings and silent blocks are sold separately, so today the suspension can be repaired inexpensively. Just do not save to the fullest and buy parts for repairing levers from cheap and suspicious brands.

"Some E65s have shock absorbers with a change in the degree of stiffness. Their resource is quite long, but if they fail, then replacement will be a pretty penny. A pair of shock absorbers costs over a thousand dollars. Therefore, people often install conventional shock absorbers instead of electrically controlled ones. They cost around 100 dollars, that is, ten times cheaper, "- says the master.

If you do not want unnecessary problems with the suspension, look towards versions without the Dynamic drive system. Hydraulic actuators of active stabilizers flow with enviable constancy: "Almost everyone has them with smudges, the cost of active stabilizers is very high, but in Minsk one service station has already learned how to restore them - repairs cost about $ 250."

The rear suspension can be equipped with pneumatics. It does not improve handling and comfort as much as it increases the cost of servicing the machines. A $ 60 ride height sensor may fail. On a restyled car, the owner had to change the pneumatic pump, as it stopped turning off. The cost of a used part was $ 150. According to the owner, it would have been possible to take it for repairs, then it would have been cheaper. Air bellows also fail, but they also learned how to repair them, the price is $ 50-70 per rack.

The brakes do not cause questions, except that the 4-piston calipers may require bulkheads. Also, sometimes people complain about the squeak of the pads. The average cost of a pair of brake discs is around $ 140, a set of front pads is around $ 60, while the rear is around $ 40. Plus $ 5-10 for a pad wear sensor.

The steering rack on a car with a mileage of 150,000 km will probably knock. You have to put up with this knock, it hardly progresses over time. It happens that the rail begins to flow, and even then the replacement of the unit is required. The cost of a used steering rack on the bamper.by website is from $ 170 to $ 300.

Site verdict

What's the bottom line? We get a spacecraft for little money. Powerful motors, perfected handling, a wide range of additional equipment, comfort, comfort and more comfort… But it’s better not to buy such a car for the last money. The risk of any problems appearing, the solution of which will require expensive repairs, is too high. As you know, you have to pay for the pleasure.

On the other hand, the car has recently become more accessible in content: specialized services have studied the design well, many units can now be repaired, and instead of uncontested original spare parts, a large number of substitutes have appeared. The market for used parts is also expanding.

In general, the car has become more accessible in every sense, but I remember the phrase from the famous movie: "Vovka, you don't need such a car, brother."

Or is it necessary? Dreams must come true someday.

The history of the fourth generation BMW 7-Series luxury sedan (model index E65) goes back to 1997, when the chief designer of the Bavarian automaker (at that time) Chris Bangle met with the designers from DesignworksUSA. The car itself appeared before the public in the fall of 2001 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and a few months later its sales started. An extended version of the BMW 7-series sedan with the E66 index made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2002. In 2005, the Bavarian went through an update, after which it stayed on the assembly line for another three years. The total circulation of the fourth generation model was more than 330 thousand copies.

If we compare the BMW 7 E65 with its predecessors, then the appearance of the flagship has undergone dramatic changes, which the fans of the brand received with criticism. At the same time, we can say with confidence that the "fourth seven" looks solid and stylish, its relief forms are diluted with sportiness. Despite the design change, the car has retained its "family" features - this is a rather aggressive "look" of the head lighting technology and the "nostrils" of the radiator grille.

The silhouette of the car is perceived as stylish and harmonious, and all thanks to the verified proportions and large rims. The rear is distinguished by its massive proportions and taillights that extend over the trunk lid.

The length of the fourth-generation BMW 7 ranges from 5040 to 5180 mm, the height is from 1480 to 1490 mm, and the wheelbase is from 2990 to 3130 mm. The width does not depend on the version - 190 mm. The curb weight of the car varies from 1810 to 2185 kg, depending on the version.

The interior of the BMW 7 E65 looks stylish and attractive, the ergonomics of the interior space is at a high level, and everything is made from natural and high-quality materials. The dashboard is highly informative; in addition to the speedometer and tachometer, there are a couple of additional displays. The center console looks massive, on top of it there is a place for the color display of the iDrive multimedia and information complex. There are no more displays on the dashboard - only the minimum number of buttons responsible for the main functions.

The front seats of the BMW 7-Series boast a comfortable layout, pronounced side support and a lot of electrical adjustments. And the stock of space with interest in all directions.
The rear sofa of a sedan with a standard base offers comfortable seating for two passengers - the third will be superfluous, as evidenced by the too high transmission tunnel. If there is a lot of space above the head and in the shoulders, then it may not seem enough in the knees. No, the legs do not rest on the backs of the front seats, but you expect more from a car of this class. The long wheelbase version of the BMW 7 E66 is a different matter, where the first row of seats is located at such a distance that you can easily stretch your legs.

The luggage compartment of the 4th generation sedan is spacious - 500 liters. However, its shape is not entirely successful - the opening is narrow and deep, so the transportation of some large-sized items will be difficult. There is a separate tool compartment in the boot lid.

Specifications. For the fourth generation BMW 7 Series, a wide range of engines was offered, a total of eight. But they all work with a 6-band "automatic", and the torque is transmitted exclusively to the rear wheels.
Two eight-cylinder units were specially developed for the fourth generation "seven". The first is a 3.6-liter engine producing 272 "horses", the second is a 4.4-liter engine that produces 333 horsepower. Several more engines were proposed for the car with a working volume of 3.0 to 6.0 liters with a capacity of 231 to 445 forces.
The Bavarian flagship was not without diesel units. The sedan was equipped with 3.0 and 4.4 liter turbodiesels, the output of which is 218 and 258 "horses", respectively.
This power range gave the 7 Series excellent dynamics - even with the weakest engine, the car conquers the 100 km / h mark in just 8.1 seconds, and with the most powerful one - in 5.5 seconds. The maximum capabilities reach 237-250 km / h.

The suspension arrangement of the BMW 7 E65 is classic for cars of this brand. It is a fully independent suspension with two arms at the front and four arms at the rear, adjustable shock absorbers and active anti-roll bars. Ventilated disc brakes can be seen on all wheels.

The "seven" had several more factory modifications, which were not as common as the first two:

  • The armored version of the BMW High Security 7-Series is designated E67 and features B7 security. Such a car is equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system, fresh air supply technology, oxygen supply for being under water and much more.
  • The "hydrogen hybrid" BMW Hydrogen 7, indexed E68, was released in a circulation of 100 copies.

Equipment and prices. In the secondary market of Russia, you can buy a BMW 7-Series E65 / E66 in 2014 at a price of 700,000 to 1,500,000 rubles, depending on the modification, configuration, year of manufacture and condition. At the same time, even the simplest sedan of the seventh series will be equipped with everything necessary - climate control, airbags in front and on the sides, bi-xenon head optics, power accessories, standard "music" and an immobilizer.

BMW E65 7 Series the fourth generation of luxury sedans, which was unveiled at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show and launched in Europe on November 17, 2001.

This model became a replacement for and was produced until September 2008. The development of the car began in early 1996 and was completed in mid-2001, the exterior of the car was created by chief designer Chris Bangle.

In the fourth generation of the 7 Series, for the first time, special body versions were designated with a separate code: the extended version -, the armored version had an internal number - and the hydrogen version was designated as -.

Engines and modifications

For the first time, the 735i and 745i with a V-engine were launched on the market.

In March 2002, an extended version of the E66 (140 mm longer than the base version) was presented at the Geneva Motor Show - the 735Li and 745Li with the same engines as the 735i and 745i.

In September 2002, production began on a diesel version with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine and a V-shaped 3.9-liter turbo-diesel engine capacity. A diesel version of the extended 740 model was not available.

In January 2003, the most powerful version was presented - and with a 6.0-liter V-shaped engine.

In the same year, in February, an armored model was presented, and in March production of the 730i started with the new Sport Package.

In October, cars began to be equipped with adaptive headlights, an IDrive system with two additional buttons, a Bluetooth connection with a mobile phone, an advanced display screen and automatic climate control with a fog sensor.
