The safest car brand in the world. The safest cars in the world. So how do you compare what you see?

Every driver thinks about safety, especially if there are children in the cabin. To help such motorists, crash tests of new cars were carried out and the best of the best in their class were identified. This is the most reliable way determine the level of safety of the car in which the driver and his family will drive.

The international organization Euro NCAP evaluates the safety of new cars by conducting crash tests. This is a type of test when a car, only from the conveyor, is smashed against a barrier and the degree of damage to the body and dummies is assessed. Crash tests are very versatile, covering the safety of the driver, passengers, children and pedestrians. This is a highly scientific technique, using the most modern, expensive technologies.

Around 40 cars are smashed by Euro NCAP every year, and competing automakers strive to get the highest score possible. The safest car gets five stars, and the most dangerous one gets zero. Based on the results of crash tests, car companies are constantly improving the safety of their cars. Annual ratings show that new cars better preserve the life and health of motorists and pedestrians in the event of an accident.

Do not be afraid of the broken engine compartments and flat tires in crash test photos. The main indicator of safety remains the health of the driver and passengers. It depends on how well the engineers calculated the deformation zones, as well as on attention to detail. The review presents the safest cars in their classes, each of which has five stars from Euro NCAP.

Big SUV

The safest SUV, and also the safest car in general, is the Volvo XC90. New flagship The Swedish company has achieved an outstanding 97 percent safety rating for adult occupants and a maximum of 100 percent for its assisted safety systems.

compact crossover

Mercedes-Benz GLC is the safest small crossover. The car has 3-point seat belts, as well as regular, window and knee airbags (airbag).

Sedan

Jaguar wins top honors in this category as its safety equipment is standard on the car. And Toyota is using proprietary driver-assistance technology as an option, which, by the way, is cheaper.

hatchback

Active hood Q30 featured one of best results for pedestrian protection among all tested models.

compact hatchback

Two small hatchbacks showed similar safety results at once. Honda Jazz and Suzuki Vitara go hand in hand, one car is worth another in one part or another of the assessment.

However, Euro NCAP selected the Honda Jazz as the best in class vehicle due to its landing strategy. Honda use of advanced security systems.

Minivan (MPV)

Mazda MX-5 sports roadster after a side impact.

None of the roadsters tested were able to achieve 5 stars. This lacks new technologies, as well as the need to save weight. However, with 4 stars, Mazda MX-5 is the best car in its category.

It is no secret that every year global manufacturers Vehicle are trying to equip their cars with new innovative systems that are designed to maximize the safety of the driver and passengers.

What is the safest car in the world? This is not an idle question many motorists ask themselves. In order to get an answer to it, the experts of the IIHS Institute smash dozens of new models into the trash, and the crash tests carried out make it possible to rank the safest cars.

Site site brings to your attention top 10 safest cars in 2017. Note that our list includes new and updated cars different segments, mass production which started last year.

Chevrolet Volt

Compact American auto giant General Motors is the leader of the top 10 safest cars in the world in 2017 according to the IIHS agency. According to the conducted data, this electric car guarantees a level of protection that exceeds the standard safety requirements in any type of collision. This is due to the presence of the latest technologies that are included in the equipment of the Chevrolet brand model.

Honda Ridgeline

The practical Japanese novelty was included in the rating of the safest cars in 2017 for a reason. According to the results of crash tests, the pickup received the highest safety rating from the IIHS institute. Moreover, it is worth noting that it has become the only pickup truck that has been tested so far, and showed such a high result.

It is noted that the Honda Sensing security system helped the Ridgeline pickup to achieve this result, thanks to which the risk of getting into a traffic accident is significantly reduced.

Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

The diligence and diligence of the Koreans from Hyundai surprises and delights! A striking example addition, off-road vehicle. This car, according to the safety tests, not only received the highest possible safety rating, but at the same time was awarded the title of the safest crossover in the world.

It is noted that during crash tests, the car of the Korean auto giant demonstrated good protective functions during the accident, but also the highest level road traffic accident prevention.

Genesis G90

Beyond the car brands Hyundai, in the ranking of the safest cars in 2017, the model of his premium Genesis brand. The flagship 4-door model, successfully implemented in many countries of the world, received an excellent rating from the specialists of the IIHS institute.

The equipment of a large premium sedan, which is designed to impose competition on the cars of the "German troika", includes many different security systems and driver assistance. For example, in the arsenal of the model there is a parking assistant with an all-round camera, a monitoring system for “dead” zones, an automatic emergency braking system, and much more.

Chrysler Pacifica

Chrysler Pacifica

The new American van rightfully occupies a place in the top 10 safest cars of 2017, as this model was the first in its segment to receive the highest safety rating from the IIHS. It is noted that in the equipment of practical family model includes an automatic collision avoidance system that has successfully passed numerous tests.

Honda Pilot

This japanese SUV, built with an eye on the North American market, is equipped with accident prevention systems. It was the presence of this feature that allowed the model to receive the highest safety rating from the IIHS.

In addition, the equipment of the SUV includes systems such as adaptive cruise control, traffic lane tracking system, blind spot monitoring system and much more.

Audi A4

The model is equipped with a variety of passive and active safety, which allowed her to get into the ranking of the safest cars in 2017. Among other things, the car has a special design of the front of the body, which minimizes possible injuries to motorcyclists and pedestrians in the event of an accident.

Acura ILX

Cars of the premium Japanese brand Acura have always been distinguished by the presence of advanced technologies. This was confirmed by the model. The sedan is equipped with a set of security systems AcuraWatch, thanks to which the electronic “brains” of the car receive extensive information about obstacles on the road, regardless of whether it is a person or another object.

Volvo S90

It so happened historically that the Swedish brand Volvo positioned among many motorists with the safest car on the planet. The company's engineers annually prove this statement.

That is why in the ranking of the safest cars in 2017 got flagship sedan. Thanks to the presence of innovative systems that provide increased safety while driving, the brand's 4-door model received the highest marks from the IIHS.

Toyota Yaris iA

This small city car, most recently offered under the brand name, is equipped with systems such as lane departure warning and forward collision warning. Through the use modern technologies, Japanese brand built one of the safest city cars on the planet.

Every year, more than a million people die in car accidents around the world. This is the population of a large city. Just think, it turns out that in one year our world is empty for a whole city! And this is not a war, not a natural disaster that takes so many lives, the cause is traffic accidents.

Perhaps there are still drivers who are not fully aware of the magnitude of their responsibility, driving a source of increased danger. However, any person who values their own life and the lives of their loved ones, when choosing a car, is guided not only by engine power and transmission type, but also by the parameters responsible for safety. Consider the safest car models of recent years and see what parameters allow these cars to carry such a proud title.

So, thanks to the fact that several companies (for example, the European Committee for Crash Testing Euro NCAP, the American Institute of Road IIHS Security, the Japanese company JNCUP, etc.) around the world smash and crash several dozen cars, we have the opportunity to get acquainted with the test results every year. And if you want, even watch videos of simulated accidents.

1. Qoros 3 Sedan

At the end of 2013, this Chinese-Israeli car scored the highest score in its class according to the European organization Euro NCAP. It's no secret to anyone that Chinese cars it is rarely possible to get a high safety rating, and life situations, alas, confirm the unreliability of some Chinese models. But the victory of Qoros in the class of compact family sedans is a huge step forward. The interior of the car is recognized as resistant to frontal impact, providing protection for the knees and hips of adult passengers and the driver, not only of different builds, but also in different positions of the body. Even with severe side impacts and a collision with a pole, the Qoros 3 Sedan shows good protection head and pelvis, and adequate protection of the chest and abdomen. But perhaps highly rated passive safety adult passengers in our time is no longer a surprise.

The car also received an 87% child safety rating due to the fact that the child seat anchors successfully withstood frontal and side impacts, minimizing the possibility of a collision of mannequins of a one and a half year old and three year old child with interior details. In addition, the car scored the maximum pedestrian protection score in the bumper area, and even despite the too rigid pillars windshield, the overall score in this test is 77%. The high score in the assessment of active safety systems is largely due to the model American company TRW, engaged in the supply and development of electronic systems. Qoros will appear on the European market this year. The car is already on sale in China for about 20,000 euros, although there are cheaper options, the main thing is to make sure that low cost configuration achieved without sacrificing safety.

2. Lexus IS 300h

Among the large family sedans in 2013, the model of the Lexus brand won. The Lexus IS 300h's crash test results far exceeded the required minimum score for a five-star rating. In addition to high scores for protecting adult occupants (91%) and children (85%), the Lexus also received an excellent rating for pedestrian safety. The model has a so-called "active hood", which provides additional protection for the pedestrian's head - sensors are installed on the bumper of the sedan that react to a collision and activate the lifting of the hood to mitigate the impact. However, Lexus electronic systems scored only 66%, however, this was enough to pass the Euro NCAP test. All systems meet the requirements of the European organization, despite the fact that the sedan did not have a speed limiter.

3. Kia carens

The Korean brand Kia received a five-star Euro NCAP approval this year and was ranked among the best, that is, the safest cars in its class in 2013. Carens achieved a high score for passenger and driver safety of 94%, but only 64% for pedestrian protection. Unfortunately, the “compact van”, which is safe by European standards, is not available for Russian market, and will it be on sale in soon- unknown.

4. Jeep Cherokee

In the compact 4×4 class, the winner was new Jeep Cherokee in the Longitude package and this will certainly serve him in good stead in sales on domestic market. The model is equipped with an adaptive cruise control system, which is guided by the data of the radar and video cameras, is able to maintain the necessary distance between vehicles and even completely stop the car if necessary. In addition, the new Cherokee has a system Lane Departure Warning Plus, which warns of crossing road markings and makes the driver feel safer on the track. Although, in order to understand exactly how this system works in different road conditions, it is necessary to test it on native domestic roads.

5 Maserati Ghibli

Among the cars available to a modest minority, the Maserati Ghibli won in 2013. premium sedan not only received the highest ratings for adult safety and pedestrian protection, but also outperformed several strong competitors in its class, namely "Audi A6", "BMW 5 Series", "Mercedes E-Class". By the way, the car was highly rated not only by the European committee, but also by the American organization IIHS, having received a Top Safety Pick rating with a “+” sign.

6. Renault Zoe

When it comes to safety, we are used to imagining a car of impressive size with a serious mass. But it's no secret that Europe loves and actively uses the A and B class of cars, or the so-called "supermini" in the Euro NCUP classification. So, the electric car - baby Zoe in 2013 received the highest rating in its class: 89% for the safety of adult passengers, 80% for the protection of children and 66% for pedestrian safety. Renault Zoe is endowed with many electronic assistants, but showed poor protection of the chest of passengers when hitting a pole. However, sales in Russia Renault electric car Zoe is, to put it mildly, unlikely.

7Chevrolet Spark

The American Safety Institute, in turn, testing compact cars (11 compact cars tested by IIHS in 2013), only Chevrolet Spark was awarded the title of Top Safety Pick. The American crash test simulated a collision with a tree or a pole at a speed of 64 km per hour. Thanks to safe design the seats, the passengers and the driver of the Spark were securely fixed in them, and this allowed the airbags to work correctly upon impact. However, despite the award of the American Institute, absolutely all tested compact cars have insufficiently strong body structure.

8 Mazda 3

The Japanese five-door hatchback in 2013 was to the taste of both the European Euro NCUP and the American IIHS. The former awarded it five stars, while the latter awarded it the highest Top Safety Pick with a plus sign. Naturally, the latest version of the Mazda 3 not only successfully passed the frontal crash test and withstood a side impact, the car was highly rated by security systems. Among electronic assistants: a system for warning other road users about emergency braking car; innovative system of "smart" braking in the city (Smart City Brake Support) - constantly scans the situation in front of the car and can independently apply the brakes at low speeds if the driver himself is distracted; blind spot monitoring system, which also monitors the space behind the car; lane change warning system (Lane Departure Warning System) and more. However, in assessing the safety of pedestrians, Mazda lost a little, in particular due to the rigidity of the windshield pillars.

9. Acura MDX

Far from always European and car ratings match in the choice of models for crash tests. So, for example, Acura has never been tested by Euro NCUP, but American researchers seem to have a soft spot for Japanese cars - more than half of the models tested in 2013 belong to Japanese auto brands. Acura MDX - Premium seven-seater crossover, according to the Institute road safety USA received the highest rating. In order to get a plus from American experts, it is not enough to provide high-quality passive safety, although the MDX, for example, has a rich set of airbags, including an airbag responsible for the safety of the driver's knees. But in recent years, world experts in the field of crash tests have paid special attention to technologies that provide active safety. In addition to the systems familiar to modern motorists, Acura MDX assists in dynamic driving in corners, warns of frontal collisions, and is equipped with a collision avoidance system. The starting price of one of the safest cars according to the IIHS in 2013 in Russia is from 2,549,000 rubles.

10. Volvo S60, S80 and XC60

Cars Volvo brands many motorists associate with safety. In recent European crash tests, the Volvo V40 in 2012 scored 98% for passenger safety, and a full 100% for electronic equipment that supports the car's active safety. In the same 2012, the Volvo V60 received excellent performance in the Euro NCUP assessment. True, in 2013, the Europeans no longer crashed a Volvo, this responsible task was taken over by the American Institute for Road Safety, sending three Volvo models S60, S80 and XC60. Subsequently, all three models received the Top Safety Pick + award. But the best part is that cars in basic configuration— You won’t have to pay separately for active safety systems.

Of course, in the history of crash tests, a lot has accumulated interesting facts and ratings, but the requirements are getting tougher, the technology is improving, and often the cars that were highly rated by experts a few years ago might not be able to become “stars of the year” now. And after listing the safest cars of recent years, I want to breathe heavily, because it is absolutely obvious that not every driver can afford a car that is truly safe in all respects, because you have to pay for safety - and not a little. But to ensure that investments in security are not in vain, the most important thing is to turn on your head - it is it that is most important when managing a source of increased danger.

You can check if your vehicle has been tested, for example, on the Euro NCUP website or on the IIHS website.

When buying a vehicle, you must definitely focus on the security systems it has, because not only the type of transmission or engine power matters. About a million people die in road accidents every year, which indicates that many cars do not have sufficient reliability. The European organization Euro NCAP and the Institute for Road Safety IIHS (America) conducted whole line tests and a list of the safest cars was determined. Models from this list have the most pronounced protective properties for drivers and passengers.

Volvo - S60, XC60 and S80

On the tenth line, three Volvo models are located at the same time - these are the S80 and XC60, as well as the S60. Cars of this brand are rightfully considered the safest. Conducted experiments have shown that they have 98 points in terms of reliability for drivers and passengers out of a hundred possible. They have been rated five stars by the Euro NCAP committee, and the Top Safety Pick “+” has been won by the Safety Institute.

The car from Japan Acura MDX is on the ninth line among the most reliable in the world. This model belongs to the premium class and has the highest scores from the IIHS Institute, and is also the owner of the Top Safety Pick "+" rating. This machine is equipped with collision avoidance systems that can alert the driver to possible frontal contact. The passive safety of everyone in the Acura's cabin is provided by a wide range of protective cushions, as well as a cushion that protects the knees of the person sitting behind the wheel.

Japanese car Mazda 3 confidently passed the crash tests of various organizations, as a result of which it was awarded a five-star rating and a Top Safety Pick "+". The car received such high scores regarding safety features by resisting side collisions, as well as frontal impacts. It is equipped with a function to notify other motorists of an emergency stop. A smart system City Brake Support allows you to avoid an accident when the driver is distracted by maintaining the necessary distance between other road users. At low speeds, the vehicle may independently engage the braking system and stop moving. In addition, Mazda is equipped with a system of so-called "anti-blind zones", which allows its driver to fully assess the situation from behind. But good scores for creating safety for pedestrians on foot, this model was missing, since it has rigid racks in the windshield area.

The brand car from America Chevrolet Spark took the seventh place among the safest in the world. It was tested by the American organization IIHS and assigned a Top Saferty Pick rating with a “+” sign. In tests, this car was hit in collisions with a tree, as well as a pole while driving on average speed 64 km/h. At the same time, the excellent design of the seats proved to be excellent, which creates a very reliable fixation in the chair, as a result of which all people (in the experiment - dummies) remained seated in their places. All available airbags also performed well. negative moment- Chevrolet Spark showed not very high reliability of the body part during collisions.

In 2013, the compact car Renault Zoe received the status of one of the safest cars. Among the rest of the cars in its class, he managed to score the most points (89 out of a hundred possible) in terms of reliability for adults in the cabin, 80 points for child protection, and 66 points for pedestrian safety. But at the same time, the model has rather weak protection in case of side and frontal contacts, for example, with a pole. To our country at present Renault time Zoe is not imported.

The premium sedan Maserati Ghibli III is rightfully considered one of the safest cars on the world stage. This model received good scores for creating safety for both passengers and drivers, as well as for pedestrians. The car received excellent points from the American IIHS expert, having won the Top Safety Pick “+” rating, in addition, it was highly appreciated by the European committee Euro NCAP.

On the fourth position in the ranking of the most reliable cars in the world is the Jeep Cherokee. This car is equipped with a cruise control function that warns of the appearance of fixing radars or CCTV cameras, allows you to maintain the required distance between other cars on the track, and, if necessary, can completely stop the car. Also this model has a Lane Departure Warning Plus system that can notify you of a violation of road markings, which also makes it possible to achieve additional safety traffic.

In last place in the top three leading cars is the production car Korean Kia carens. Out of a hundred points for ensuring the safety of drivers and passengers, he earned 94. The European Euro NCAP assigned a five-star rating to the car, which allowed it to become the safest vehicle among cars in its class. But at the same time, in relation to the protection of pedestrians in the event of a possible impact, the car was rated only 64 points. Kia Carens is not represented on the Russian market today.

The silver medal was given to the Lexus IS 300h, which rightfully rose to the honorary second step. In terms of reliability for adults, the car scored 91 points, and the safety of children - 85 points. Lexus also got a good mark in terms of pedestrian safety from the bumper. The car has an "active" hood that is able to react to contact using sensors and open automatically, providing pedestrians with additional protection. The car passed the Euro NCAP tests and received 66 points in terms of the reliability of electronic systems.

The list of the safest cars was topped by Qoros 3 Sedan. The Euro NCAP Committee of Europe awarded this car the highest score in terms of reliability. The interior of this model perfectly withstands a frontal impact. The design is heavy-duty, thanks to which people are completely protected from various damages in case of accidents. With lateral contacts, the head, thoracic and pelvic regions are also well protected. With regard to child safety, this car scored 87 points out of a hundred possible. Fasteners for child seat successfully passed tests for frontal and lateral loads, so the likelihood of hitting a child with interior items in the cabin is minimized. Pedestrian bumper protection was rated 77 points. The car managed to get such excellent safety records thanks to the work of the American company TRW, which develops and supplies electronic systems to the manufacturer of this vehicle. The price of Qoros 3 Sedan reaches approximately 20,000 euros.

There can be a lot of criteria for choosing a car. This and external design, and interior design, and availability diesel engine or all-wheel drive. However, the dynamic parameters and comfort of the machine are only indirectly related to its safety. Oddly enough, in Ukraine, motorists very often forget about this selection criterion, since often a car is not just a means of transportation, but an indicator of the status of its owner. But in this matter it is worth taking an example from the representatives of Western civilization, from whom buying a car begins with studying the rating of the safest cars in the world.

1. Car safety: what parameters are we talking about?

Oddly enough, the safety of a car is primarily determined by the class to which it belongs, as well as its “weight category”. That is, the higher the class and the greater the mass, the safer the car will be. We can immediately conclude that the second side of security is the cost of the car.

Even if you get into an accident in a car whose safety is confirmed by crash tests, when you are wearing a seatbelt, you will feel not as strong a blow as if you had to drive in ordinary car still Soviet-made. As a result, injuries are also reduced.

Thus, cars that embody safety are full-size SUVs, which have not only heavy weight, but also large body sizes, excellent road stability. In addition, on almost all bodies modern cars there are special designs due to which the impact is damped during a collision. And the body itself must be made of durable steel, so that even when the car is overturned, it can retain its original shape and not crush passengers.

Even the correct design of its chassis makes a car safe. This is necessary in order to even slippery road When the car skidded, the driver could quickly and efficiently maneuver, stabilize the car and stop instantly. So, after the wheels, the following are also responsible for the safety of the car:

- steering;

Suspension stiffness;

Correct location of the center of gravity;

Correct setting of electronic control systems;

Lighting.

However, even the most successful design solution in practice can show rather low safety indicators. Therefore, in order to be 100% sure that the car is safe, it is subjected to a number of special tests.

2. Safety tests to which all car models are subjected.

Back in the 70s of the last century, a special institute was organized in the United States IIHS, which to this day is organizing and conducting special tests to determine the shortcomings of cars and their level of safety for the driver and passengers. But, in addition to the safety indicator, the purpose of such "research" is to determine the strength and reliability. As a result, each car receives its own safety score.

Years of work on this issue has allowed the institute to create a very precise system of criteria and come up with the most sophisticated ways to test cars for safety. But even despite this, every year there are more and more new requirements for cars, as scientists come up with a lot of new technologies and materials that the auto industry is actively using.

Methods and criteria for determining the safety of a car

What is the procedure for checking a car for safety? The fact that they simply beat him mercilessly, although in professional language this is called crash test, or emergency test. During this test, experts study exactly how emergency situation influenced the person how badly he was injured. At the same time, accident simulations can be very diverse, however, during each of them, special sensors cling to the dummy, the data from which is then subjected to careful study.

Sometimes a dummy is not even used to study the car, because the entire necessary information can be obtained by filming. At the same time, points are given to the car not only for dynamic characteristics, but even for the fact that the sound of the notification of an unfastened seat belt might not seem too serious to specialists.

For specialists, it is not only the active safety of the car (its handling on the road) that matters, but also the passive one - how the design of the car reduces the impact force and provides the driver and passengers with integrity. At the same time, passive safety also has a lot of criteria that a car must meet:

1. How effective and durable are seat belts;

2. Successful location of airbags and their number;

3. The presence of body elements that take the blow;

4. How can the steering column transform under the force of impact so as not to injure the driver;

5. Is there protection against injury on the pedal assembly (in case of accidents, the pedals should be easily detached so as not to injure the driver's legs);

6. Efficiency and durability;

7. Structural characteristics of head restraints;

8. The structure of glass and the process of its beating;

9. The strength of the main elements of the body;

10. The presence and strength of the transverse beams in the doors;

11. The presence of a reliable partition between the cabin and engine compartment, which could prevent the engine from entering the passenger compartment.

As far as active safety is concerned, a vehicle can only achieve the highest score for this indicator if all of its structural elements can pass the crash prevention test. Firstly, all mandatory elements must be present on the car, and secondly, they must work effectively. We are talking about:

- anti-blocking of the brake system and the serviceability of this system as a whole;

Course stability of the car;

A special system that should protect against slipping;

The presence of systems of dimensions and related elements that help to feel the dimensions;

Assistance systems necessary for the implementation of the descent or ascent;

Serviceability and good response.

In fact, literally every detail of the car is subject to verification, as well as its effectiveness when the car gets into an accident.

3. Strength test: how much impact can the car withstand?

The test is actually not done alone. Each car is subjected to at least four tests that determine their durability:

1. At a speed of 65 km / h, the car is driven straight into an obstacle with a 25% overlap. The test is aimed at how the car will react to a head-on impact.

2. Checking how the sides of the car will react to the impact. To do this, the car accelerates by only 50 km / h, but at a speed a special cart crashes into it perpendicularly, the weight of which is 950 kg. The cart also has its own requirements, since it must imitate the car as accurately as possible. For this reason, its front part is also subject to deformation.

3. In the next test, the car is accelerated on a special platform and at a speed of 30 km / h it is crashed into a metal vertical support (pillar). Based on the results of this test, it is checked how side protection able to ensure the integrity of the head in a side impact.

4. Last test is aimed at checking not the safety of the driver and passengers in the car, but the safety of the pedestrian who is hit by this car. To do this, they organize a collision with a dummy, for which the car accelerates to a speed of 40 km / h.

As you can see, in order to release a car for sale, concerns have to sacrifice 4 copies to pass each of the above tests. Of course, this is quite expensive, but it is simply impossible to test cars in a different way.

Latest IIHS Innovations

Back in the last year IIHS adopted a number of new requirements, which must be met by the design of each car. It should be noted right away that these requirements made testing even more stringent, so now not 4, but 5 tests are being carried out at once.

Now you can get into the IIHS rating only if the car has a special system, thanks to which a collision can be automatically prevented by emergency braking of the car, which is carried out without any participation of the driver. Thus, even passing all the mandatory test trials Prevents a car from earning a top IIHS rating without a smart assistant to send it to 2nd place. In addition, the experts came up with two tests at once to check the operation of the emergency braking system.

4. The right choice of car in 2016.

Each year, the IIHS ranks the 50 safest vehicles. It is worth noting that from model range 2016 in the rating got a lot more cars than in 2015. In particular, last year only 33 cars managed to lead this well-known rating, which were able to get the highest crash test scores. In second place were only 38 cars.

As for checking the model range of cars in 2016, a lot of changes took place over the year, as a result of which 48 models of modern cars were able to get the highest scores at once. This suggests that designers and manufacturers have begun to pay much more attention to the safety of the vehicles they put up for sale. It is also worth noting that taking possession of the second position last rating only 13 cars were able to. Most likely, the latest innovations in the security testing system affected this result.

Very interesting is the fact that in order to improve the safety performance of their cars, many concerns are constantly improving them. So, in 2016, some car models were able not only to confirm their prestige, but also to improve last year's performance even without any restyling. In recent years, designers have made the main bet solely on increasing the strength and rigidity of the body, thanks to which the car manages to pass the frontal collision test. And, of course, without installing an emergency braking system, it makes no sense to go for such testing.

For example, in just one year a German car and Japanese Nissan Maxima were able to raise their rating very sharply in terms of safety. If in 2015 they were considered “flying by”, then already in 2016 they managed to easily become one of the first, showing themselves best in the most difficult test - frontal impact with an offset. And just in this case, it was established not only emergency braking, but attention was also paid to improving the strength of the body.

But there were those this year who decided not to pay attention to safety anymore, so they did not even manage to take second place in the well-known rating. In particular, when comparing the results obtained over the past two years, only two dozen cars managed to keep the leading positions. Those who very unexpectedly lost their positions include cars and Toyota Sienna . In particular, they failed to pass the test with dignity. frontal collision, as experts concluded that they do not provide good enough protection for either the driver or passengers. Even the installation of the system automatic warning collision did not contribute to the promotion of these models up.

5. Leaders of the rating in 2016.

This rating is quite large, so we will focus only on the most popular cars, which can be found quite often on the roads of Ukraine and which are the most affordable in the price range. So, the safest among the most compact cars of the 2016 model range are:

1. Mazda 3 Hatchback/Sedan.

2. Volkswagen Golf.

3. Subaru WRX.

1. Mazda 6.

2. Volkswagen Jetta.

4. Lexus ES.

5. Toyota Camry.

6. Toyota Prius v.

7. Audi A3.

8. Subaru Outback.

9. BMW 2 series.

10. Volvo S60/V60.

And now it's time to move on to the safest full size cars from the highest levels of the ranking IIHS:

1. Infiniti Q70.
