The Uzbek brand Ravon, under which Daewoo cars are now sold in the Russian Federation in connection with the departure of the Korean brand from the Russian market, is actively working on its new models, and here is one of the latest - Ravon R2! It is not only a direct descendant of Daewoo Matiz and Chevrolet Spark, but also represents the cheapest car with automatic transmission in Russia. The appearance of such a hatchback in our country did not become a sensation, since today you will not surprise anyone with a similarity to the Chevrolet Spark, but many were seriously interested in the super-affordable “automatic machine”. Design

In fact, the Ravon R2 is a certified copy of the 3rd generation Chevrolet Spark. After receiving the Uzbek "registration" the model became a little less aggressive and more similar to the cars of the German brand Opel. Seriously: on closer inspection, the five-door can easily see the features of the popular Opel Mokka or Insignia crossover, especially if you pay attention to the new radiator grill. The combination of this grille and the huge head optics of the original form does not seem unfortunate, given the compact dimensions of the hatchback. Large "fog lights", a bumper with huge air ducts, an antenna above the windshield and roof rails also look good.


In profile, the R2 is more solid than its main rivals Hyundai Getz and Daewoo Matiz, which is emphasized by the expressive side lines of the body. The dimensions of the Ravon subcompact, which are 3640 x 1597 x 1522 mm (L x W x H), are visually increased due to its muscular relief. At the "stern" there are not composite, as in the Spark, but solid taillights with a strict design. But the non-standard door handles and a small repeater on the front fender came from Chevrolet - the latter, by the way, is installed in the wrong place, as it is regularly covered with mud from under the wheel.

Design

The R2 foundation is the already proven 3rd generation Chevrolet Spark platform - GM Gamma. In front of it there are McPherson struts, and in the back there is an elastic beam. Steering is simplified thanks to the Spark's familiar electromechanical power steering. Braking is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS), which is included in all trim levels. Front-wheel drive, ground clearance - 145 mm.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

In order to survive the harsh Russian winter, the hatchback provides heated seats, side mirrors, as well as an electric rear window heater and even an electric heated windshield in the wiper rest zone, which, one might say, is cool for a car of this class. Unfortunately, there is no heated steering wheel in any configuration. The R2 trunk is far from the most spacious - it only holds 170 liters. cargo, but if you fold the backs of the rear seats, its volume will increase up to 560 liters, and this is already quite enough for both several suitcases and for a medium-sized washing machine. A small car is not intended for a larger one.

Comfort

The interior of the R2 is decorated in a Spartan style, borrowed again from the Chevrolet Spark. At the same time, the interior of the Uzbek car looks even more dull - it does not have parts painted in the body color. The plastic on the volumetric dashboard, as you would expect from any really inexpensive state employee, is "oak" and emits an unpleasant hum when knocking. A slight revival is created here only due to pseudo-carbon and pseudo-aluminum decorative inserts. The front seats of the hatchback are manually adjustable in height using tight "lambs" and are quite comfortable with one caveat - for standard-build people. To a person with a dense physique, they will seem cramped. The adjustable steering column will allow you to sit in the driver's seat with the greatest possible comfort (adjustment for reach is not provided). The finish is ordinary fabric.


Both in the first and in the second row of seats, there is enough space overhead even for tall passengers. There is enough free space on the back couch for two adults, and it will be uncomfortable for three of us to sit. The steering wheel is 3-spoke, with silver inserts and audio control buttons. On the "motorcycle" dashboard, inherited from the Chevrolet Spark, there is also "silver" (the basic version has black color) - a similar finish is flaunting the "tidy" of the new Renault Logan. The backlight, alas, has an unpleasant blue color, typical for many Asian models. Other amenities include a small storage pocket at the bottom of the center console, three cupholders, a glove box, a USB port for charging mobile devices and an air conditioner. The location of the air conditioning control buttons is well chosen, however, the round climate controls are a little tight.


Depending on the configuration, the R2 can have up to 6 airbags, including front and side airbags along with curtains. In addition, the equipment includes belts with pretensioners, a door lock button, rear parking sensors and Isofix mounts for child car seats. To assess the safety level of the model as a whole, it is worth focusing on the results of the Chevrolet Spark crash tests conducted by the American IIHS Institute in 2014, as well as on the results of crash tests of the European organization Euro NCAP.


All R2 versions are equipped with an audio system with AUX and USB inputs, MP3 support, SD card slot and Bluetooth. In the "base" there are only 2 speakers, and in the "top" - 6. In addition, the top-end version relies on control buttons on the steering wheel. The sound of the audio system is not very high-quality, but one should not expect anything else from the state employee.

Ravon P2 Specifications

Under the hood of the R2, there is an uncontested four-cylinder 16-valve S-TEC II unit with a volume of 1.2 liters. The proprietary engine with multipoint fuel injection, produced in Uzbekistan, complies with Euro-5 environmental standards, is capable of running on 92nd gasoline and develops 85 hp. (112 Nm), which indicates a lower transport tax rate. According to the manufacturer, its fuel "appetite" in the combined cycle is 6.2 l / 100 km, in the city - 8.2 l / 100 km, and on the highway - 5.1 l / 100 km, but in fact the consumption is higher. By the way, the engine was borrowed not from the Chevrolet Spark, but from the Aveo - in other words, from the new Ravon Nexia. The gearbox, regardless of the configuration, is a classic 4-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission AW 80-40LE from the Japanese company Aisin. The transmission is proven - old Toyota Corolla and Yaris, Ford Fusion, Suzuki SX4 and many models of the Korean division of General Motors, for example, Lacetti and Aveo, were equipped with its counterparts. Of course, today a 4-speed "automatic" is an archaism, but one should not forget that we are talking about a car of a budget price category.

The Ravon p2 test of the cheapest car with automatic transmission on the Russian market did not disappoint. Ravon R2 differs from the usual Matiz more than it might seem.

Daewoo Matiz from the early 2000s, quickly gained popularity - compact, economical, and most importantly - very inexpensive, it attracted both novice drivers and all kinds of couriers and pizza carriers. But time passed, and over a decade and a half, the model became morally obsolete: modern motorists are accustomed to a completely different level of dynamics, safety and comfort.

Three configurations are available for Ravon R2, which at the time of publication of the article are sold at a price of 439, 479 and 509 thousand rubles, respectively.

And now it's time to say goodbye to Matiz: he was replaced by Ravon R2, built on the third generation Chevrolet Spark platform. Although outwardly he does not flaunt "bells and whistles" such as LED lights on the fourth generation Spark, but it looks modern in the style of transformers from the films of Michael Bay.

The model has only one engine and transmission combination: the R2 has a fairly modern S-TEC II 1249 cc engine with a power of 85 hp. This is more than most sparks, and very good for the class of urban compacts. It is paired with a 4-speed automatic Aisin AW 80-40LE. A version with mechanics is not provided - the creators considered that it was useless for a city car, moreover, in many respects focused on women.

The 1249 cc engine with 4 valves per cylinder and variable valve timing produces 85 hp. and 112 Nm. For an urban runabout, this is a lot.

The R2 design is almost one-to-one inherited from the Chevrolet Spark. The third generation of Spark appeared in 2009 and still looks quite modern.

SALON

The interior of Ravon R2 is relatively simple, except that the instrument cluster inherited from Chevrolet is unusual - the tachometer is placed on a liquid crystal screen with an on-board computer. It will be comfortable for a driver of any size to sit, only a tall landing will seem tall. And there is nowhere to put the left leg - due to the proximity of the front wheel arch, there is no platform for it. Another disadvantage can be noted not the best visibility - thick beveled front struts can hide a pedestrian when turning. But safety is at a height - already in the basic configuration there are two airbags, and in our car there are 6 of them - and this at a cost of just over 500 thousand rubles! But there is no stabilization system in any version, which is strange - it would be useful to many novice drivers.

Interior materials are simple, but adequate to the cost. The passenger airbag warning light would be better extinguished after starting the engine - in motion it is perceived as a malfunction indicator and distracts from the road.

You can't expect much from the back row and trunk - in the city compact they play a secondary role. Two adult passengers in the back will fit, albeit without much comfort, but there is hardly enough space for luggage for four. It's good that there is a full-fledged spare wheel.

In the back row, the width and height are not bad for the dimensions of the car, but there is little entertainment - only power windows, which are only in the maximum configuration.

The R2 trunk is narrow but deep enough. If the volume of 170 liters is not enough, the rear seats will have to be folded.

DRIVE

Ravon R2 was very pleased with the movement - on the one hand, it retained the maneuverability and ease of parking, typical for cars of its class. On the other hand, unlike the same Matiz, thanks to the adequate dynamics, you do not feel defective in the flow. At least from the traffic lights, the little car starts very briskly. In part, the feeling of dynamics is added by the perky roar of the 1.2 engine - the automatic machine drives it into the high speed zone, at 4-6 thousand, where it gives out maximum torque and power. And even if after 80 km / h the agility gradually fades away, and sometimes four gears in the transmission are not enough - unlike many other budget compacts, the feeling of a full-fledged car Ravon p2 gives. It is a pity that the downstream neighbors are not always in solidarity - they are accustomed to the fact that unhurried inept people drive such cars, so there are few people who want to miss Ravon r2.

The site team has been trying for a long time to find the button for turning on the front fog lights. It turned out that on R2 they are connected as DRLs, and they work when the dipped beam is off.

Summing up, we can say that Ravon p2 is superior to Matiz in all respects - dynamics, security, prestige. Of course, the cost is no longer so attractive - the R2 price is close to the budget models of class B. The price list often changes - depending on the configuration, Ravon R2 will be asked for from 439 to 509 thousand rubles, and from the new year it will grow even more. Nevertheless, the model is still the most affordable car with an automatic transmission on the Russian market, so it will definitely find its fans among novice drivers.

The manufacturer does not provide data on ground clearance, but there is enough cross-country ability for any situations in the city - thanks to the short wheelbase and small overhangs.

The main thing is not to forget to curtsey with an avarice. If you are a girl and make the maneuver confidently, they will not even bark you, and, most likely, they will wait with all the traffic lights until you finally decide on the direction.

And so that now they do not zabibikat, I will make a reservation that you need to calculate the route in advance, do not make sharp maneuvers and do not go beyond the stop line.

In the city, a car is like a car. Do not suddenly rip off the spot, but it rides confidently, the steering wheel is not like a deflated ball. Let's just say that it is unlikely that you will be able to race with someone, but it does its job. And the machine (already in the basic configuration) does not bother in traffic jams. And he also drifts fervently, in the video I even admitted that it was better than sex, sorry, there was a moment's insanity.

The hatchback will soon appear at most Ravon dealers. This is the fourth model available from the new brand, after the Ravon Matiz, the new Nexia and the Gentra. If the most affordable Matiz hatch has a rather old design, a low-power engine and only a manual transmission, then the more expensive Ravon R2 is a modern compact car with a more powerful engine and an automatic transmission.

Like the rest of the Ravon models, which are essentially redesigned state employees of Daewoo or Chevrolet, the R2 is no exception. This is well known to everyone Chevrolet spark... Under the new name Ravon R2, the car will become the most affordable car with a gun. A low price, excellent passive safety and a rather comfortable and practical interior will certainly allow us to take a worthy place in our market.

Externally turned R2 differs from the Spark in a different grille and slightly modified bumpers. Otherwise, this is the same Spark in the back of the M300, which was shown to the public back in 2009. By the way, in Korea today you can buy the Daewoo Matiz Creative (M300) model, which differs from the Ravon R2 in only one detail - the logo on the radiator grill. In the cabin at Ravon P2 there are even fewer changes, even the seat upholstery remains the same. It can be noted that in some places the textured plastic from the same Spark was replaced with a simpler smooth one. The three-spoke steering wheel has only changed the logo. Perhaps the main decoration of the Ravon R2 cabin can be considered the dashboard, which consists of a large round speedometer and a rectangular on-board computer. Ravon P2 is a licensed version of the legendary urban hatchback from Chevrolet, namely Spark. The Ravon P2 is a stylish and attractive member of the compact hatchback family. Due to its unusual shapes and outlines, especially in the front, as well as at the stern, the small car looks much more mature.

Successfully tailored design by Chevrolet experts allowed the car to be produced for more than one year. Even now, almost ten years after the model was first introduced to the global market, the rebranding Ravon R2 looks fresh and modern. Next, we present to your attention Ravon R2 in the version overview, with a detailed description of the exterior, interior, and, of course, technical characteristics.

Exterior

Many argue that the Ravon R2 boasts its own design achievements. But, judging by the comparative photos of Ravon, only one thing can be mentioned - the Ravon R2 hatchback is still a copy of the third generation Spark, with the most minimal differences. First of all, you need to talk about the design of the "front end". The Ravon P2 radiator grill from 2018-2019, instead of a mesh structure, receives parallel lines that are quite familiar from many "state employees", with chrome plating.

Landing optics, design, bumpers, moreover, even the shape of the hood and its stamping, completely repeat the "American".

The silhouette surprises only by the fact that they decided to use disks on the Ravon P2 prettier, of course, we are talking about the maximum configuration. The rest of the exterior of the Ravon body remains identical, similar overhangs of the arches, roof, sidewalls and doors.

The poop presents familiar parameters with a slight emphasis on sport. A huge spoiler, like for a subcompact hatchback, looks catchy and defiant here. The dimensions of the bumper, in general, the stern of the Ravon R2 are unchanged.

Interior

Salon Ravon P2 repeats its "American" predecessor. Moreover, the style here is classic, there are motifs of Aveo, early Lacetti or even modern generations of Ravon Nexius. Only the quality of finishing materials is significantly inferior to the donor, this can be seen even from the photo.

Hard and dull plastic, which also brings "music" while driving. The design of the seats is miserable, they tried to somehow correspond to the same Nexia, but due to the small dimensions of the cabin, it turned out very badly. Sitting is really hard, even in the driver's seat, so forget about long journeys.

This car is definitely not designed for long trips, a purely urban option - to get to work and back.

In terms of equipment, the Ravon P2 can hardly surprise you. The central block is divided by an impromptu decorative overlay made of plastic imitating wood. Above is a small on-board computer, a deflector under it, and even lower and a radio tape recorder. "Climate control", found refuge almost at the very tunnel, containing only three classic "washers".
