BMW M5 white. BMW M5 E60: one of the fastest sedans in the world. Price of the new BMW M5

The new BMW M5 (F90) 2018-2019 was officially presented on August 21, 2017, almost a month before the world premiere as part of. In our BMW review M5 2018 – photos and videos, price and configuration, specifications 6th generation of high-performance Bavarian sedan with a 600-horsepower gasoline turbo engine, 8 automatic transmissions and the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. Accepting orders for the new generation of BMW M5 in Germany opens in September 2017. price from 117,900 euros for BMW M5 in basic configuration. The first buyers will see their cars, although only in the spring of next year.

Also, in the spring of 2018, fans of the Bavarian brand will be offered 400 copies of the BMW M5 First Edition with bright accents in the design of the body (painted with Frozen Dark Red Metallic enamel, black exterior parts and rims) and interior (Piano Finish Black inserts, M-chairs with black insert, plaque with individual number) priced from 137,400 euros. Start of sales of new BMW generations The M5 will be launched in Russia in the spring of next year; the price has not yet been announced, but, according to preliminary information, it will be at least 8 million rubles.

The main attribute of the 6th generation BMW M5 (F90), of course, is the M xDrive all-wheel drive transmission with electronically controlled active rear M differential and the function of disabling the front wheel drive. Thus, we have before us the first passenger car with an all-wheel drive system. This fact is not surprising, since the monstrous 600-horsepower power of the 4.4-liter gasoline V8 M can be realized TwinPower Turbo without all-wheel drive it’s problematic, and the main competitors as for selection with all-wheel drive are, and.

It’s interesting that by default the new Bavarian “charged” BMW M5 sedan has all drive wheels, but... in M Dynamic Mode (a tolerant mode of operation of the stabilization system with the ability to slide), the electronics will switch the transmission to 4WD Sport mode with an emphasis on the rear wheels. At full turning off ESP the driver has the right to choose one of three proposed drive modes: standard, ensuring stable behavior of the car on the road - 4WD, sharper with an emphasis on the rear axle - 4WD Sport and reckless, hooligan and almost extreme, with an eye on 600 horses under the hood - 2WD.

So the new generation of BMW M5 (F90), thanks to its advanced all-wheel drive system, is able to appeal to more car enthusiasts than with exclusively rear-wheel drive. The “charged” M5 can be both aggressive and docile.

Let's reveal everything technical aspects new items Under the hood of the new BMW sedan M5 upgraded biturbo engine V8 4.4 M TwinPower Turbo from previous generation sedan with a power of 600 hp and 750 Nm of maximum torque, available already at 1800 rpm crankshaft. The modernized engine boasts new turbochargers, increased injection pressure, more efficient lubrication and engine cooling systems, a lightweight exhaust system, supplemented with Helmholtz resonators, allowing for a “menacing” exhaust note at high speeds.

The transmission is an 8-speed automatic M Steptronic from the usual versions of the platform model, but with a faster and soft shift gears, as well as locking torque converters, which is turned off only when changing gears.

The weight of the new car in running order is only 1855 kg, and this despite the presence all-wheel drive transmission(predecessor with rear wheel drive 15 kg heavier -1870 kg). Helping ensure an acceptable body weight for the new BMW M5 is a carbon fiber roof, previously available only on models and the BMW M6, a hood and trunk lid, doors and front fenders stamped from aluminum, as well as a lithium-ion accumulator battery, installed according to good tradition in the luggage compartment of a sedan (helps to achieve better weight distribution along the axles).

Compared to conventional versions of the new generation BMW 5-Series, the “charged Emka” has a wider front and rear track. rear wheels, different suspension kinematics with stiffer rubber compounds and thicker stabilizers. In stock adaptive dampers with a choice of three settings modes, electric amplifier steering with the same number of operating modes as shock absorbers, standard installed components brake mechanisms(cast iron discs and aluminum pads) with blue painted calipers (6 piston front and 1 piston rear). For an additional fee, the M5 sedan offers carbon-ceramic brakes with golden-colored calipers, which reduce unsprung masses car by as much as 23 kg.

19-20 inch alloy wheels are used. The photo shows a sedan with the most big wheels, shod in low profile tires Michelin Pilot Sport 275/35 ZR20.

  • This advanced technical set provides the new BMW M5 sedan with excellent dynamic and speed characteristics: acceleration dynamics from 0 to 100 mph in 3.4 seconds, from 0 to 200 mph in 11.1 seconds, maximum speed electronically limited to 250 mph (the optional M "Driver"s Package raises the top speed bar to 305 mph).

I would like to say just a few words about the appearance and interior of the new BMW M5 2018-2019 model year, presented with index F90. The body of the new product is aggressive and brutal, as befits a powerful Bavarian. Front bumper with huge air intakes, LED headlights headlights and taillights with a three-dimensional LED pattern, original rear-view mirrors with stylish aerodynamic features, large wheel arches, door sills, a trunk lid topped with a spoiler, a powerful body rear bumper with a neat diffuser and a pair of dual exhaust tips.

The interior of the charged M5 as a whole is practically exact copy normal salon BMW versions 5-series, but branded details, of course, simply catch the eye: the letter M on the body sills, M- steering wheel with three spokes and two red buttons M1 and M2 (individual settings for all electronics responsible for driving), a stylish and convenient automatic transmission control selector, M sports seats for the driver and front passenger with a high back and developed lateral support.

The new BMW M5 (F90) sedan is equipped very generously. There is a digital instrument panel, an advanced ConnectedDrive multimedia system with a 12.25-inch screen, electric front seats, heated and ventilated (massage for an extra charge), leather trim, four-zone climate control, ambient LED interior lighting and other attributes of a premium car. -class.

BMW M5 (F90) 2018-2019 video test

According to BMW engineers, every time they release a new version of the M5, they are faced with the problem of how to make it even better than before?

After all, every time the BMW M5 sports car receives the title of the fastest sedan in the world, so engineers have to constantly move forward to achieve even greater perfection.

What can I say - the BMW M5 E60 sedan presented in 2005 showed that Munich engineers manage to create a new miracle every time for fans of their sports M-series. New sports car became even more powerful, even faster and even sharper than its predecessor in the E39 body.

More than 20,000 cars, sold out like hot cakes in 5 years, demonstrated the most successful sales throughout the history of this series - the sedan was popular even in Japan and Italy, where there is a long-established market sports cars mobiles own production.

The BMW M5 E60 is based on the E60 platform, so its body is no different from the body of the production 5-series E60 model. The same strict and at the same time smooth contours of the body, signature “nostrils” and predatory front optics are the calling card of all cars in this body.

The sports car is not equipped with active systems aerodynamic body kit– the only elements are a small air intake in the front spoiler and the same small diffuser at the rear, as well as a fin at the rear of the roof.

The curb weight of the car is 1855 kg in the sedan body and 1955 kg in the station wagon body. This high mass is due to the fact that the suspension partly uses cast iron elements, although its main part is made of aluminum alloy.

Salon

The interior of the BMW M5 in the E60 body is made in the best traditions luxury cars E-class according to European classification. The sports car's strict and laconic interior is trimmed with genuine leather and has polished aluminum inserts on the front panel.

On the center console, slightly turned towards the driver, there is a 6.3-inch diagonal on-board computer display, and below it are climate control deflectors and three on-board system adjustment controls. There are 43 electronic systems in the car, so some of the options are displayed on the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.

On dashboard there are two combined scales: the speedometer plus the fuel level in the tank and the tachometer plus engine temperature. The speedometer has double markings - in kilometers and miles. Also, some functions can be displayed on a virtual display on the windshield - for example, the current speed and revolutions.

At the back there is another row of seats, also upholstered in genuine leather. There is enough space in the cabin - both in the front and in the rear - even tall passengers can comfortably accommodate, and the height from the seat to the ceiling is 994 mm in the front and 967 mm in the rear.

Engine and transmission

For its flagship sports car, BMW has developed a completely new naturally aspirated engine S85B50. This is a ten-cylinder V-shaped engine with a camber angle of 90 degrees between the cylinders. and volume 4999 cm3.

The engine body is made of light aluminum alloy, and the cylinder head and pistons are also made of it. To eliminate the imbalance and balance the moment of inertia, engineers used uneven flashes - this eliminated the need to install a balance shaft.

The engine is equipped with a bi-VANOS double phase change system and individual throttle valves. For better cooling pistons operating in mode high loads, a separate oil system is used with two additional oil pumps and separate electronic controls.

The motor also received a completely new three-processor electronic control unit Siemens MS S65 and new NGK spark plugs with ionization sensors. All these technical innovations allowed engineers to squeeze 507 hp from the engine. at 7750 rpm and maximum torque of 520 Nm at 6200 rpm.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 4.7 s, and the maximum speed reaches almost 330 km/h, but electronics limit it to 250 km/h - the limitation is removed in the showrooms of official dealers as an additional option.

In order to achieve such outstanding parameters, one engine is not enough - you need a suitable transmission. The BMW M5 E60 uses a seven-speed SMG III sequential transmission with a dry single-plate clutch, designed specifically for this model.

This intelligent transmission has a gear shift speed of 65 ms (for example, the LaFerrari supercar has 60 ms) and 11 different modes, intended not only for driving on the track or in the city, but also in winter, according to hilly terrain and so on.

Switching is done using the steering wheel paddles or in automatic mode.

All M-Series capabilities are accessed by pressing the Power button, which activates three modes: from P400 with a power limit of 400 hp. to the P500S, allowing you to get every last horsepower out of the engine.

For north American market a version with a 6-speed gearbox is specially produced manual transmission. In terms of its parameters, it is only slightly worse than STG III, but unlike the “robot”, it does not have some additional functions.

Specifications

Chassis

The front of the M5 (E60) has independent suspension made of aluminum with wishbones and A-shaped McPherson struts, as well as a stabilizer lateral stability and longitudinal oblique stretch marks. The rear has an independent four-link suspension ( upper control arms transverse type, lower H-shaped), with integral and guide arms and anti-roll bars.

According to one of BMW engineers Klaus Schmidt, due to the insufficient strength and high fragility of ceramic brake discs, the car uses ventilated components brake discs made of cast iron measuring 376 mm at the front and 370 mm at the rear.

Thanks to advanced brake calipers floating structure, braking distances from 100 km/h to a complete stop is only 36 m – very high rate for such a heavy car.

Modifications and price of BMW M5 E60

According to automotive expert Jeremy Clarkson's M5 (E60) is the benchmark in the E-Class and is capable of "dominating all other cars."

During the production years, the showroom price of the sports car was almost $100,000 – but the car was worth the money. Today, the cost of such a used car in Russia ranges from 1,300,000 to 2,150,000 rubles, depending on mileage, condition and equipment.

At the end of August 2017, the Bavarian automaker presented the “charged” BMW M5 sedan in the new F90 body. The debut of the new product took place in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show - exactly a year after the premiere of the new model.

From the standard "five" new BMW The 2018-2019 M5 was easily distinguished by its aggressive front bumper with large air intakes, a hump on the hood, air intakes in the front fenders, a spoiler on the trunk lid, as well as a different rear bumper with a diffuser and a quartet of round exhaust pipes.

Options and prices of the BMW M5 Competition 2019

AT8 - 8-speed automatic, xDrive - all-wheel drive

In addition, the car stands out with its original rear-view mirrors, extended wings, a black carbon fiber roof, 19-inch rims Orbit Gray (275/40R19 front and 285/40R19 rear tires) with blue high-performance brake calipers, as well as exclusive exterior paint options.

Inside the BMW M5 2018 in the new F90 body, there are sports seats, a steering wheel with two red buttons “M1” and “M2” (you can program individual settings on them), a different transmission selector, metal linings on the pedals and door sills, and a different one on the instrument panel. graphics with a speedometer marked up to 330 km/h, and the interior trim uses Merino leather and carbon fiber inserts.

Specifications

Under the hood of the new BMW M5 F90 model, a modernized 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine was installed, the output of which was increased from 560 to 600 “horses” and 700 Nm of torque (in the range from 1,800 to 5,600 rpm). Unlike the previous unit, more efficient twin scroll turbochargers are installed here, the boost pressure is increased to 350 bar, the cooling and lubrication systems are changed, plus a lightweight exhaust system with an adjustable valve for sound control.

Instead of the previous preselective “robot” (the mechanics that were offered in the States are no longer available), the engine is paired with an optimized eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF, as well as an M xDrive all-wheel drive system, which allows you to more fully realize all the power and compete on equal terms with.

The company calls the new all-wheel drive system its “most emotionally engaging yet.” It is equipped with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch that locks in the range of 0-100% (rear-wheel drive mode can be activated at the touch of a button), as well as an active rear M differential. When the stabilization system is completely disabled, three operating modes are available: 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD.

To accelerate from zero to hundreds new BMW The 2018 M5 takes 3.4 seconds, which is an increase of 0.8 seconds. faster than its predecessor, and the sedan reaches the 200 km/h mark after 11.1 s (- 1.9). The default top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, but with the optional M Driver's package the collar will be relaxed to 305 km/h.

Later it appeared, the engine on which develops 625 forces and the same torque of 700 Nm, but available up to 5,800 rpm, and it goes to hundreds in 3.3 seconds.

Many fans of this model were worried that adding all-wheel drive would make the Em Five too heavy, but in the end the car weighs 1,855 kg versus 1,870 on the scale. And if you fork out for expensive carbon-ceramic brakes, then the weight of the sedan can be reduced by another 23 kilos. By the way, the base here has six-piston calipers in the front and a floating caliper in the rear.

The overall length of the BMW M5 2019 is 4,965 mm (+ 55), wheelbase is 2,982 (+ 18), width is 1,903 (+ 12), height is 1,473 (+ 16). Ground clearance(clearance) increased to 132 millimeters (was 117). For an engine adapted to Euro-6 average consumption fuel in the combined cycle is stated to be no more than 10.5 liters per hundred.

As for the chassis, the sedan has a double-wishbone suspension at the front and a multi-link design at the rear. The base for the car includes three-mode adaptive shock absorbers and a reconfigured electric power steering, which also has three modes. It is worth noting that the design has additional aluminum reinforcements in the front part of the body and an X-shaped steel element to increase strength rear axle, and the anti-roll bars have become stiffer.

What is the price

Accepting orders for the BMW M5 (F90) started in September, the price of the car in Germany starts from 117,900 euros, and the first customers will receive their cars in the spring of 2018.
The cost of the sedan in Russia started at 7,790,000 rubles, but later only the more powerful 625-horsepower Competition version remained on sale, for which today they are asking a minimum of 8,080,000 rubles.

By paying another €19,500 to the price, you could order the “Em-Five” in a special First Edition version, the circulation of which is limited to 400 pieces. This option is painted in a special matte shade Frozen Dark Red Metallic, has 20-inch alloy wheels, a shadow line package, special interior trim and a plate with a serial number.

The BMW M5 is a super-powerful and high-speed version of the 5 Series. It was developed in the late seventies legendary BMW M1, 277-horsepower car with six-cylinder in-line engine volume of 3.5 liters and four valves per cylinder. In the eighties, BMW translated this concept into mass production— and thus the M5 was born.

While BMW company Motorsport GmbH was still independent and for those interested, specialists from Garching “charged” serial BMW fifth series sedans with more powerful engines, while modifying the suspension and brakes. This is how the then rare BMW 533i and 535i cars were born. One of these cars was the 1979-1980 M535i, which had a 218-horsepower 3.5-liter 6-cylinder 735i engine. Approximately the same engine (M30 with a volume of 3.4 liters, but also with 218 hp) appeared in 1984 under the hood of the standard “five” E28 535i, so the exclusivity was temporarily lost.

But in the same year the debut took place sports model M5 based on the same “five” E28, equipped with a modified engine from the legendary M1 - R6 with 4 valves per cylinder and a displacement of 3453 cm3 - 286 hp. at 6500 rpm and 340 Nm at 4500 rpm, which at that time was one of the highest results for conventional engines passenger cars. The maximum speed reached 245 km/h. On high-speed M5 models, integral-type designs with developed spoilers and painted to match the body color appeared. This was the first BMW M5 - a business class sedan with the heart of a supercar, the production of which amounted to 2,241 copies before being discontinued in 1987.

Since 1985, ABS has been standard on 535i/M535i/M5 models and available as an option on all models. Most 535 models (except those equipped with automatic transmission) have an anti-slip system (limited slip differential) with a coefficient of 0.25.

Top model of the M5 sedan with an engine displacement of 3.5 liters (315 hp) and increased to 90 liters fuel tank appeared in January 1989 and immediately gained popularity among those who like to “have a blast.” Equipped with mechanical five-speed gearbox gears, traction control and tires measuring 235/45 ZR17 at the front and 255/40 ZR17 at the rear, it became the most dynamic in its class (acceleration to hundreds in 6.3 seconds, the company limited the maximum speed to 250 km/h). In April 1992, this engine was replaced by a more powerful 3.8-liter 327-horsepower, and a month later its 340-horsepower M5 version appeared. “Emkas” have a great appetite for city traffic (up to 18 l/100 km), and when purchasing, it is recommended to carefully check the condition and wear of the complex, customizable rigid suspension and forced engines. All cars were equipped with brake boosters as standard. In May 1990, the production of sedans 520i 24V, 525i 24V with 24-valve cylinder heads began, which made it possible to produce 150 and 192 hp each.

Since October 1992, M5 Touring station wagons equipped with the same 340-horsepower inline-six went on sale. However, in 1995, along with the cessation of production of the “five” with an E34 body, the BMW M5 also ceased to be assembled. The production from 1988 to 1995 amounted to 12,254 cars.

The pause lasted more than three years. And finally, in the fall of 1998, the Motorsport GmbH department, for the first time deviating from six-cylinder traditions, finally showed the world the most powerful 5-series sedan with an E39 body and a V-shaped eight with 400 hp. — own tuning version of the 540i. So nice story"um-fifths" has found a worthy continuation - after all, for the first time on production model BMW engine power was 400 hp, and the dynamic qualities were even better than those of the M3 - 5.3 s to 100 km/h.

This M5 is equipped with a forced 4.9-liter V8 engine, structurally similar to the serial 4.4-liter unit. It is equipped with a Double-VANOS system (which, depending on engine speed and load, smoothly changes not only the intake but also the exhaust phases) and eight individual throttle valves. However, here they did not just increase the cylinder displacement from 4.4 to 4.9 liters and boost the engine’s compression ratio to 11.0. This required applying oil cooling forged pistons with streams of oil from special sprayers, forged reinforced crankshaft and connecting rods, special three-layer all-metal head gaskets. The cooling system has been seriously improved - the channels in the block and heads are optimized, and the pump is capable of maximum speed engine pump 380 liters of fluid per minute through the system.

And the main technical highlight of this engine is a dry sump lubrication system, which uses one injection and two suction oil pumps. But unlike similar lubrication systems on other supercars (for example, on the Porsche 911), here... electronic control oil pumps! At high lateral accelerations (and the M5 is capable of developing a lateral overload of 1.2 g on dry asphalt!), based on a signal from the DSC system sensors, the solenoid valves are activated, and the pumps begin to draw oil from the outer sides of the crankcase, where the oil can flow back under the influence of inertial forces.

The exhaust system has two neutralizers, in which the carriers of the catalytic layer are not ceramic honeycombs, as usual, but metal ones. And immediately after the neutralizers the flows exhaust gases from both banks of cylinders communicate with each other - this optimizes the pressure in the exhaust system and increases torque at low speeds.

The gearbox is only a 6-speed manual, also almost standard - there is only a reinforced clutch, a “shorter” main gear and a limited-slip rear differential with 25 percent locking. All this, together with the tires (front 245/40 ZR18 and 275/35 ZR18 rear), are perfectly selected to help the driver control the powerful engine even when the DSC system is turned off, which, along with other systems active safety is included as standard equipment, as on standard “fives”. And there shouldn’t be any problems at all with the electronics - it will protect against skidding caused by excess traction, and will help if you exceed the speed in a bend, “tucking” the car into the turn...

The body is standard - the Bavarians claim that its rigidity is more than enough even for the increased dynamic qualities of the M5. The aluminum front suspension now features springs shortened by 15 mm and shock absorbers with different characteristics. IN rear suspension There are a little more changes - lower arms from the 540 station wagon were installed here, springs shortened by 10 mm and stiffer shock absorbers, and some of the rubber-metal joints were replaced with rigid ball joints.

The fourth generation of the “charged” model BMW M5 Sedan (E60) began rolling off the assembly line in 2005. This generation was designed by Chris Bangle. The fairings of the external mirrors have retained their traditional shape, and the wings above the 19 inch wheels became wider. One cannot help but notice the large air intake and spoilers located on the apron of the BMW M5 Sedan. For the first time, small rifled “gills” appeared on the front wings. The front ones froze in a sly squint bi-xenon headlights. As another confirmation of the sports pedigree, the dual muffler, made using Formula 1 technology, appears. The three-color “M” badge is, as usual, located on the trunk lid. The color scheme includes three special shades - “sepang”, “silverstone II” and “intergalos” (metallic bronze, silver and azure).

The interior design offers expensive leather trim and wood panels. Flickering instruments with prominent red arrows and white numbers are dressed in chrome rims. The “floating” zone of the tachometer is divided into a yellow warning zone and a red limit zone. The white circular backlight is constantly on. Instrument readings are projected onto the windshield. Active seats provide comfort. The driver has at his disposal the familiar IDrive system, as well as a CD player, Hi-Fi Professional audio system and a television screen.

The 8-cylinder engines were replaced by a 10-cylinder five-liter V10, capable of delivering 507 hp. forces and torque 520 Nm (at 8250 rpm). As for speed indicators, the car is capable of accelerating to “hundreds” in 4.7 seconds and moving at a maximum speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited).

The valve timing in the V10 is controlled by the Double VANOS system, which changes the exhaust and intake phases as the engine speed and load changes. Elements inherent in racing cars are the presence of individual throttle valves cylinders and the use of ionic currents in spark plugs. This technology allows the BMW M5 Sedan electronics to almost instantly diagnose detonation in each individual cylinder.

Not only the engine was replaced, but also the gearbox. It was the new 7-speed sequential SMG, which has the Drivelogic function. This function helps to select transmission operating programs. Gear shift speed has increased by 20% compared to previous models. Drive is to the rear wheels

The transmission and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) are integrated into the engine management system, allowing them to communicate seamlessly with each other. Built-in sensors sensitively monitor tire pressure. Dynamic control over directional stability is carried out by DSC system. Electronics are responsible for locking the rear differential, and EDC regulates the stiffness of the shock absorbers. The Mdrive electronic interface helps to cope with the task of managing all this complex filling of the BMW M5 Sedan.

In 2007, the station wagon returned to the M5 line. The debut took place at the Geneva Motor Show. Luggage compartment equipped with a semi-automatic curtain. Trunk volume varies from 500 to 1650 liters. An automatic tailgate is available as an option. The rear door glass can be opened separately. Tightening straps side sections, a bag for large items, multi-function switches, folding partitions and a range of under-floor storage compartments are included in the options package.

The fifth generation M5 (F10) was presented in September 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Once again, the management of the concern decided not to produce a “charged” station wagon, since sales of the previous generation in this body modification were low.

The car is built on the new F10 platform with a wheelbase of 2964 mm. The length of the body, compared to the previous generation, increased by 46 mm (to 4910 mm), the width - by 45 mm (to 1891 mm), and the height decreased by 18 mm (to 1451 mm).

The company commissioned Adrian van Hooydonk to develop the appearance of the fifth generation, who, while maintaining the inherent features of the model, brought out a new, more aggressive and daring appearance. The body shape has become more streamlined due to the front and rear angles located at a sharper angle compared to the previous version. rear pillars. The signature “nostrils” of the radiator grille have become much larger, and the headlights have taken on the shape of a spear tip. The front bumper has become more massive, it has a large oval central section of the air intake, as well as large rectangular side sections. The hood took on a different shape, became wider, and a V-shaped relief outline appeared on it in the center. A relief line appeared on the sides of the body, running from the air ducts stylized as “gills” to the ends of the rear lights. The side doors have increased in size.

L-shaped ones appeared on the stern tail lights with LED optics, different shaped trunk lid. The central oval hole inherent in the previous generation has disappeared from the lower part of the rear bumper, replaced by a trapezoidal diffuser. On both sides of it there are paired exhaust pipes. The rear spoiler, located on the trunk lid, serves to optimize the aerodynamics of the car.

The interior of the fifth generation M5 has also undergone changes. First of all, this concerns the dashboard, which received four, and not two, like the fourth generation, devices. In addition, now it is not connected to the center console by a set of visors. On the console itself, which has become wider, there is a multimedia system screen.

The layout of the radio and climate control controls has changed - now the “music” is on top. The central tunnel, which houses niches for small items and cup holders, has also been transformed. The joystick for controlling the multimedia system, which was previously located behind the gearbox selector, is now located on the right, at the same level as it. The steering wheel also became different, with a hexagonal hub and a thicker rim.

The shape of the cushions and backrests of the front seats has changed, lateral and lumbar support has increased, and the popliteal bolster has acquired a rectangular shape. The increased dimensions of the body allowed the designers to create more space for passengers back row. Here a more comfortable sofa appeared, with a larger seat. Although it is stylistically divided into two seats, three adults can easily sit on it.

The basic package of options includes: 4-zone climate control, on-board computer, multifunction steering wheel, satellite anti-theft system, full power accessories, cruise control, Start/Stop function. For an additional fee, you can order an electric sunroof, a night vision system, comfortable keyless access, projection of instrument readings onto the windshield and many other valuable options.

Compared to the previous generation, the 2011 BMW M5 has improved dynamic characteristics. The model is equipped with a 4.4 liter petrol engine producing 560 horsepower. It is paired with a 7-speed robotic transmission with two clutches (for the American market, the engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission). The car is rear-wheel drive. The BMW M5 F10 accelerates from zero to hundreds in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h.

Last year, the Bavarian manufacturer presented the G30 body, and a year later Frankfurt exhibition was presented sports version– M5 F90. This is a completely new car that created a revolution for this series of sports cars, since the MKA passenger car has all-wheel drive for the first time.

The new car is completely different from the previous generation, it is not difficult to distinguish it from civilian version. The car belongs to the E-class, it can give a feeling of comfort, it can be used for normal driving At the same time, drive according to your mood. This is a legendary series of cars and we are sure that the new version will also go down in history.

New design

The appearance, as befits this series, is very similar to, but still some unique details are present. The BMW M5 2018-2019 can be distinguished by a different hood, more aggressive bumpers, spoiler and exhaust pipes. Now in more detail about the appearance.

There are many differences from the previous version, but the overall new style remains. The muzzle has acquired new narrow head optics equipped with LED elements. The hood has raised lines in the middle, creating a small hump. In the middle of the face there is a branded radiator grille with a chrome edging. The new bumper immediately makes it clear that in front of you is a powerful Sport Car, since the air intakes with radiators are of impressive size.

The sidewall of the BMW M5 is very reminiscent of its predecessor, but notes of modernity and uniqueness are present. There is a deep stamping line at the top, connecting to a small gill, which in turn has a chrome insert. The extensions of the wheel arches are small, the stamping at the bottom is also small, since there is no need to make a very provocative design, buyers and the manufacturer themselves do not want this.

At the rear we got a corporate style, the headlights are roughly similar to its predecessor, but the shape has been slightly adjusted. A small wing appeared on the trunk lid. The bumper has a slightly different shape, narrow vertical reflectors and 4 huge exhaust pipes that make a great sound.

New, increased dimensions of the sedan:

  • length – 4965 mm;
  • width – 1903 mm;
  • height – 1473 mm;
  • wheelbase – 2982 mm;
  • ground clearance - 132 mm;
  • Disc size – R19.

BMW M5 interior

The changes also affected the interior of the car, the general style has been preserved and there are quite a lot of similarities. Everything remains roughly the same, but everything has changed a little. As before, high-quality materials are used here in the form of leather, chrome inserts and a small amount of Alcantara. It all comes together beautifully, there are no complaints about the assembly.

We get into the car and realize that the seats are simply luxurious, it’s comfortable to sit, the chairs are soft, you feel how the adjustable lateral support envelops you. That is, the seats are sports, but at the same time quiet ride they remain comfortable. There is a regular sofa in the back, like the civilian version, it is equipped with heating, an armrest and is quite comfortable. The seats are upholstered in Merivo BMW Individual leather, you can choose the color of the material, white looks good.

The following trim colors are available:

  • Caramel (beige);
  • White smoke (white);
  • Tartufo (brown).

The steering wheel in the new generation has changed slightly; you immediately notice the additional red petals. The shape has also changed, specifically the grooves for the thumbs. Otherwise, it remains the same, with the same buttons and style. The instrument panel has been completely transformed. The manufacturer got rid of the wells, leaving only a thin chrome trim; the sensors are simulated by the display.

The center console of the BMW M5 has been adjusted; it differs from the civilian version. Installs a 20-inch entertainment display BMW systems ConnectedDrive. Any information can be displayed on it, including turbine boost data. Everything that is located below, namely the separate climate control settings unit, remains unchanged, even from the previous generation there are few differences.

There are many innovations on the dividing tunnel. Of course, there are boxes with cup holders, but we are more interested in the gearshift lever and everything that is nearby. The selector itself has a slightly different shape with a red border. To the left are buttons for controlling shock absorbers, steering and turning off the stabilization system. Thus, you can make the BMW M5 2018-2019 steering wheel sporty, and the rest normal. On the right is a large multimedia control puck.

As you know, the Bavarians made a system for feeding exhaust sound into the cabin through speakers. Having ordered the proprietary M Sport exhaust system, a Sound Control button appeared in the interior, reducing exhaust noise for a more comfortable ride.

The luggage compartment is exactly the same as that of the civilian model - 530 liters. The interior and trunk are excellent; it allows you to use the model as an everyday driver and drive according to your mood.

Specifications

The most interesting thing for fans is that it is definitely new BMW engine M5. In principle, this is the same engine, but quite heavily redesigned. This is a V8 with two Twin Scroll turbines, producing 600 horsepower and 750 torque. Keen fans were upset because the previous body had a limited Competition Edition that produced the same number of horses.

The engine crankshaft was strengthened, and the pistons and connecting rods were also strengthened. The engine works in conjunction with an 8-speed automatic transmission M Steptronic equipped with Drivelogic. Thus, we get a box with functions for selecting various behavior modes: Sport, Sport+ and so on. As a result, it was possible to achieve acceleration to hundreds in 3.4 seconds, 11.1 seconds to 200 km/h. The dynamics are amazing, one of the main competitors has the same, let's see who will be faster in fact.

Four-wheel drive

The most important innovation in this car is the installation of a proprietary all-wheel drive system, but modified for this car. All-wheel drive received an active differential, the task of which is to distribute forces across the wheels, analyzing the behavior of the car, pressing the gas or brake pedal, the surface under each wheel, and so on.

By default, the 4WD system is enabled, which means all-wheel drive with torque transmitted primarily to the rear axle. There is a 4WD Sport function with a separate M Dynamic Mode system, handling improves significantly and makes it possible to corner the BMW M5 2018-2019 with a slight drift of the rear axle. Drift lovers are provided with a 2WD system, which turns off the stabilization system and you can enjoy a completely rear-wheel drive car.

Bavarian engineers also installed a new carbon-ceramic braking system. This is an optional treat, featuring lighter weight, better braking and more high reliability. It is very easy to distinguish them from ordinary ones - the calipers are painted golden with the signature M-series logo.

The car's suspension is based on the CLAR platform and is independent. The car has 2 levers at the front, and a five-link arrangement at the rear. All this is also equipped with adaptive shock absorbers, which can be adjusted using a button from the cabin. Here everything is made stiffer, the anti-roll bars are thicker and there are adaptive shock absorbers, which distinguishes this suspension from the civilian one.

Price of the new BMW M5

Russian buyers for now this model not available. At home, the car is already sold for at least 117,000 euros, which is more than 8 million rubles. It is quite expensive, and more than its competitors. In the basic configuration, the car has:

  • 19 luxurious wheels;
  • heated seats;
  • separate climate control;
  • LED headlights;
  • leather upholstery;
  • gorgeous music;
  • 6 airbags;
  • various racing driving systems and many interesting equipment.

There are also various options, such as leather color or a different exhaust system. The end result turned out great BMW car The M5 F90, which has created a huge buzz in the auto world and will continue to do so. As one of the main competitors of AMG and RS, it will exist and so far none of them have pulled ahead much.
