We change the transmission fluid in the automatic transmission and manual transmission of the Kia sportage. We change the transmission fluid in automatic transmission and manual transmission Kia sportage Kia sportage 3 change which automatic transmission oil

Kia Sportage 3 - all-wheel drive SUV the third generation, which went on sale in 2010. Basic configurations equipped with a five-six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic.

Many owners have difficulty replacing gear oil. In order to provide methodological assistance, consider the process of replacing fluid in an automatic transmission using an example Kia Sportage 3.

How often do you need to change the oil in an automatic transmission?

  • if the machine is operated in urban areas, without loads - the fluid resource is 70,000 km;
  • systematic loads, frequent start-stop modes - 60,000 km.

In practice, few of the owners adhere to the theory, they carry out maintenance already at around 50,000 km in order to extend the life of the mechanisms and Kia units sportage 3.

At the same time, no one restricts the rights of owners to undergo maintenance at 60/70 thousand km. Everyone chooses their own priorities. Tightening the interval leads to excessive wear of components, clogging of the lines through which the liquid circulates. Ultimately, overhaul Checkpoint.

The choice of oil for automatic transmission Kia Sportage 3

Note to the driver!!! In the model with diesel system 7.1 liters of oil are poured into the power supply, 7.8 liters of gasoline.

What kind of oil to pour in automatic transmission Kia Sportage 3: considering specifications models, the minimum class is semi-synthetics. Marking of canisters with the obligatory abbreviation "ATF".

Purchase transmission fluid exclusively at official points of sale, dealers, specialized auto shops. Recently, it has become popular to buy with the subsequent oil change directly in the service station. Take advantage of the offer.

Oil change in automatic transmission Kia Sportage 3

Before starting work, consider all possible options transmission fluid replacement:

  • partial;
  • complete.

The main difference between the first method and the second one is in the volume of the “renewable” liquid. Partial replacement does not include flushing procedures. As a result, up to 7 - 10% remains inside the automatic transmission old fluid.

This method initially limits the "life" of additives. The maximum resource is 45 - 55 thousand km.

A full upgrade will require special equipment that is not in the "garage". As a rule, vacuum compressors are installed in service stations.

Replacing the transmission fluid in this way will provide maximum service life and reliable protection automatic transmission. The oil renewal interval reaches 75 - 80 thousand km.

The preparatory stage before self-changing automatic transmission oil Kia Sportage 3 do-it-yourself:

  • necessary materials, tools: a container for draining mining, a key - a head for “24”, rags;
  • a canister with transmission fluid in a volume of 7.1 (7.8) liters, depending on the type of engine.

Sequencing:

  1. Warm up the car to operating temperature to ensure good fluid circulation;
  2. We hang the car with a lift (install it on a viewing hole) for the convenience of work;
  3. We unscrew the four screws under the bottom of the machine, remove 8 plastic clips, remove the metal protection;
  4. We unscrew the drain plug from the automatic transmission, substitute an empty container for filling. The maximum amount of mining that will fill the container is 4.0 liters. The rest is located in the lines of the automatic transmission oil circuit;
  5. We twist the drain plug, having previously cleaned the magnet from dirt, metal chips;
  6. We put on metal protection, lower the car;
  7. Open the hood, remove air filter, disconnect two rubber pipes from the automatic transmission cooling radiator;
  8. The hose with the red stripe is the supply, the yellow stripe is the return. We substitute the container, drain another 2.0 liters, as a result 6.0 liters;
  9. We measure the exact volume of the drained liquid;
  10. Through the breather hole in engine compartment fill in the same volume of new oil.

Do-it-yourself Kia Sportage 3 automatic transmission oil change is over. At this stage, we did not flush the selector switch clutches inside the automatic transmission. This is possible only when the liquid is pumped out in a vacuum way.

TO-6 came in time, which involves replacing the fluid in the automatic transmission. As you know, there are three ways to replace:

1. partial replacement drain / fill in several stages

2. partial replacement by the apparatus by the substitution method

3. complete replacement with removal, disassembly of the automatic transmission, filter replacement

The third option disappeared immediately, so I had to choose between the first and second ...

Having studied the mat. part, I made conclusions for myself about the pros and cons of each of available ways replacements, i.e.

first and second, in the end:

partial replacement by drain/fill method in several stages (2 stages)

pros: - the possibility of self-replacement

Not high flow liquids (for 2 stages about 9l)

Cleaning the drain plug magnet from metal dust

cons: - a lot of time due to the need to repeat the operation

Lesser % replacement new fluid from the total filling volume (?)

Need to replace o-rings

partial replacement by apparatus by substitution method

pluses: - less time spent on replacement (in one step)

Greater % new fluid replacement of total fill volume (?)

cons: - high fluid consumption (about 10-14l)

The drain plug does not unscrew, metal dust remains on the magnetic trap

The need to dismantle the oil lines

The high cost of replacement work in car services

Turning to the OD, I found out that they do a partial replacement with a drain / bay, the cost is 2500r + liquid, you can use your own, if they are, then about 1200r / l ... As a result, assessing the level and quality of the filled liquid, I decided to make a partial replacement with a drain / bay in 2 steps by yourself!

Partial replacement of transmission fluid in automatic transmission, the first stage

We have the following initial data:

Car in operation 6 years

Mileage 66700 km

Off-road, hellish annealing at traffic lights, trailer towing is not mine) 80% city, traffic jams, exits to the sea on the autobahn with a cross-country exit to the beach

Tools and accessories:

Rubber hose with outer diameter 13 mm, length 80 cm

2 containers of 5l

Since, in addition to the fluid in the automatic transmission, I changed the oil in the gearbox, while I was doing this, I removed the crankcase protection, etc., the fluid in the automatic transmission cooled down, I drove about 15 km in different modes (D and M), warmed up the fluids, and since everything was prepared, then immediately upon returning to the garage, I unscrewed the control plug with a 24 head and a ratchet, about 1.1 liters of ATF leaked out.

While the remains were flowing out of the control hole, he unscrewed the drain plug with the same 24 head and a ratchet and poured the remaining liquid into another container. The liquid had no smell of burning, with the smell of cheap washing powder of the Progress type, with metallic dust suspended in the liquid. The same dust, only larger, was covered with a magnetic trap on the drain plug

While the remaining oil drained through the drain plug into the container, I cleaned the plugs with a throttle cleaner and replaced the o-rings.

3 liters of liquid merged into the second container, as a result, 4.1 liters were drained from the automatic transmission, it seems that it was initially a little overfilled.

To fill through the filler hole, I removed the air intake housing, the air filter, and the air intake cover: snap off 4 cover latches, unscrew the body with a 10 head with an extension, take it out, it is held at 2 more points on plastic guides, having previously disconnected the air duct, it is tightened with one edge with a ring clip on the throttle (you will need a 10 head and an extension cord with a ratchet), open it with pliers and move the fastening of the engine ventilation hoses, disconnect the clip from the fastening of the wiring harness in the wardrobe trunk, thereby providing easy access to the filler hole.

With a 23 head, I unscrewed the cork with a ratchet with a ratchet.

So that nothing superfluous gets into the throttle, I covered it with a clean cloth, cleaned seat drain plug, and twisted (head 24), you can fill in fresh liquid, the control plug is not screwed in, the engine is not started.

The hose with an outer diameter of 13 mm fits into the filler hole perfectly!

I poured 3.9 liters of liquid through the funnel until it began to flow out of the control hole in a thin stream. Next, we start the engine at N and add fluid until it again flows from the control hole. As soon as the liquid begins to flow out in a thin stream (after a few minutes), we screw in the control hole plug and warm up the liquid in the automatic transmission by N and drive the selector along P, R, D several times with a delay of 2-3 seconds. The liquid is heated for about 10 minutes (depending on the temperature environment, control by touching the automatic transmission cases, about 50-60 degrees C). As soon as it warms up, we unscrew the control plug, the excess liquid is drained, as soon as it flows in a thin stream, we tighten the control plug, turn off the engine and spin filler plug, after replacing sealing ring(it is copper, I did not have it, I will replace it after the second stage)

IMPORTANT! When the fluid in the automatic transmission warms up, the engine will work without an air filter, we mean this, and we remove the fabric that covered the throttle. I did everything in a closed garage, so everything is fine, dust and moisture did not get into the engine!

For one checked the status throttle valve, cleaned recently, so everything is fine with her!

We put the air intake housing, air filter, air intake cover in place, connect the air duct with throttle assembly and engine ventilation hoses.

I haven’t installed crankcase protection yet, there is still the second stage of replacing the transmission fluid in the automatic transmission and changing the oil in the transfer case.

Kia Sportage 3rd generation

Kia car The Sportage SL comes with a six-speed automatic transmission, whose factory designation is A6MF1, and c diesel engine - A6LF2. This is a classic hydraulic machine with a torque converter and electronic unit management. Like any unit, it requires periodic service, the proper implementation of which will extend its life. The article describes in detail the procedure for changing the oil in an automatic transmission.

How often to change the working fluid in the automatic transmission

If you open the official website for dealer stations kia service, which contains all the service manuals for repair and maintenance, find the oil change section in the Kia Sportage 3 automatic transmission, then the first thing we will see there will be this text:

It literally says the following:

Fluid automatic 6 step box gear does not need to be replaced. If the vehicle is used in heavy duty, commercial or personal use, change the oil at 60,000 miles (approx. 96,000 km).

Severe mode is defined as follows:

  • driving on difficult roads (bumpy, gravel, snowy roads);
  • driving on mountain roads, ascent/descent;
  • repetitive short-distance driving;
  • more than 50% use in heavy city traffic during high temperatures environment, above 32 degrees Celsius:
  • use in police, taxi, commercial purposes, trailer towing.

As you can see, under one or even several of these points that define harsh conditions operation of the car, according to the manufacturer, fall almost all cars in our country. That is, factory instructions require changing the oil in the box automatic kia Sportage on a run of 90,000 km.

From personal experience I can advise you to change the oil in the automatic transmission on the run 60,000 km, since at such a run it is, as a rule, already quite dirty due to the content of wear products of the friction linings of automatic transmission clutches.

What about the automatic transmission filter? It cannot be replaced and is designed for the entire life of the box. Korean engineers placed it behind the gearbox housing. To replace the filter, you will have to remove the machine and unscrew the crankcase. This procedure entails the need to replace the sealing rubber gaskets. oil pump and oil lines.

I do not recommend replacing the transmission filter at stations Maintenance who do not have an experienced specialist in the repair of machines and related equipment. The fact is that when disassembling the box, you can only aggravate the situation if sand or dust gets into it.

There are two types of oil change procedure:

  • partial;
  • complete.

Partial replacement is called so because it can only change 4 - 5 liters of fluid at a time, while the total volume in the gearbox is 7.1 liters on the A6MF1 box and 7.8 liters on the A6LF2.

With a complete replacement, a special stand is used that allows you to replace all the oil in the automatic transmission in one procedure.

What fluid is used in the Sportage 3 automatic transmission

Original transmission fluid for Kia and Hyundai

According to the official repair manual, the Kia Sportage automatic transmission uses ATF oil SP IV. There are many manufacturers on the market that produce this type of transmission fluid.

Original liquid numberATFKia: 04500-00115

Among the analogues, the following, proven high-quality substitutes from other manufacturers can be distinguished:

Partial oil change in automatic transmission

This method is a regular oil change, as in an engine, for example. In order to change the oil by this method, expensive special equipment is not required. All you need is:

  1. New oil.
  2. Set of hexagons.
  3. Kit socket heads and collar.
  4. Watering can.

To begin with, we raise the car on a lift or drive into a viewing hole. To drain the oil from the automatic transmission, you need to unscrew the drain plug, it is located on the gearbox housing (see figure below).

1 - filler hole, 2 - control hole, 3 - drain

For old oil, you will need a 5 liter container. About 4 - 4.5 liters will merge. Fluid will remain in the torque converter and oil channels valve block. It is possible to merge it only with the help of special. stand for complete replacement.

After that, we start the engine and shift gears in place, lingering on each of them for 2 seconds. We repeat this 4-5 times. We warm up the engine to operating temperature (90 degrees), so we will know that the oil in the automatic transmission has also warmed up (to a temperature of 60 degrees Celsius).

We unscrew the plug of the control hole, it is located in front of the cover of the valve block.

The Kia Sportage 3 machine is not equipped with a dipstick to check the oil level.

On running engine liquid should flow in a thin stream from the control hole. If so, we twist the plugs (control and filler). If the liquid does not flow, pour slowly through the filler hole until it flows. We do this on a running engine. This sets the oil level in the sportage 3 machine.

Complete oil change in automatic transmission

This procedure is carried out only at service stations. For a complete replacement, a special stand is used. The principle of its operation is as follows:

The stand is connected with two branch pipes and special adapters to the break of the automatic transmission fluid cooler. The stand is equipped with a pump that pumps new oil into the box, previously filled into the stand tank. The engine starts and the pump inside the box itself, creating pressure in the line, pumps out the old liquid into a special container for used oil inside the stand. Thus, the old fluid is replaced with a new one. Thanks to this, the oil is changed in the entire box, including the torque converter.

Minus this method replacement, this is the need for more than the full volume of the box, the amount of new oil. That is, for a complete oil change in a sportage, you will have to buy not 7 - 8 liters (as written in the factory specification), but 10 - 11 liters. The fact is that during a complete replacement, when displacing fresh butter old, they are partially mixed. In order to end up with completely new oil in the box, you will have to pour about 10 liters into the stand instead of 7 new fluid.

Shock when shifting

Sometimes there may be jerks or delays when shifting gears after a complete replacement of the fluid in the machine. This is not always a sign of a box malfunction.

Most often, smooth gear shifting can be restored by resetting the adaptive settings of the gearbox control unit. You can do this with the original diagnostic equipment Kia - KDS or GDS, at a Kia service station. The procedure takes 1 minute.

After the reset, the box should be "trained».

To get started, you need to go through all the gears, on Idling in place, lingering on each for 2 seconds. Do this 5 times.

After that - dynamic learning. It will require a long stretch of free flat road. It is done like this:

We warm up the engine on the spot. We make a learning trip: we drive with constant smooth acceleration, on a flat road, with the accelerator pedal depressed by 15 - 30%. The box should switch in this mode of smooth acceleration from the first to the 6th gear. Having reached the sixth gear, we begin to slow down smoothly, the machine switches from 6 to 1 gear. We repeat this 3 times. Now the box is customized. After adaptation, jolts and bumps usually disappear.

Kia Spotage 3 - time-tested korean SUV, which can be serviced independently. In fact, most owners do just that, not wanting to resort to expensive service at the dealership. One of the most common repair procedures is changing the gearbox oil. Consider this process in detail. We will pay attention to both full and partial replacement, as well as what you need to know for proper and comprehensive maintenance.

According to official data, the period for changing gear oil in Automatic transmission Kia Sportage 3 is 80 thousand kilometers. Naturally, by this time it may be necessary expensive repairs the whole box, which is not surprising, given the complex road and climatic conditions in Russia. For this reason, there is no need to pay special attention to official regulations. According to experienced motorists, it is necessary to control the level and quality of the oil every 20-30 thousand km, and fluid replacement may be required after 40-50 thousand km.

Types of oil change

With partial replacement, full-fledged flushing procedures inside the gearbox are not provided. Here it is enough to drain the old oil, and then fill in the new fluid. Of course, in this case, the new oil will mix with the remaining liquid, but this is not scary. After all, all the same, the turn of the next oil change will come after 30-35 thousand km. You can be sure that nothing will happen to the box during this time. Most owners who want to carry out repairs on their own prefer a partial replacement. AT this case popular oils such as ZF TE-ML 09/14, Allison C4 and Dexron 3 are suitable.

Complete replacement

In this case, additional diagnostic tools and materials may be required, including special flushing liquid. It is impossible to do without it during a complete replacement, since it is responsible for the systematic cleaning of all the insides of the gearbox from mud deposits. The result is a transmission that looks like new. Thereby next replacement oils can be carried out without fear through 80 thousand km.

The nuances of replacement

It is very important that the new oil be filled up to a certain rate, that is, not higher than Max marks on the dipstick. If necessary, the liquid will have to be drained a little to avoid interruptions in the system. Otherwise, the gearbox will malfunction and respond poorly to shifts. After filling the oil, it is advisable to check its level every day for two weeks.

Work order

  1. We prepare a set of tools and materials
  2. We drive the car onto a flyover or inspection hole, warm up the engine well, turn off the ignition
  3. We go into the hole, shoot motor protection, and thus gain access to the crankcase. There is a drain plug on the crankcase, it must also be removed to allow the old oil to completely drain into a previously prepared container.
  4. After draining the used fluid, it is necessary to measure how much oil has leaked out. The fact is that exactly the same volume of new oil must be poured into the filler plug. Usually 40-50% of the total amount of old oil flows out. It remains in the automatic transmission and mixes with the new filled fluid.
  5. Rinse the pan thoroughly and put it back in place. Change gasket if necessary. drain plug also screw back into place
  6. The most crucial stage is the filling of new oil. For this, we go to engine compartment, and find the filler hole. We take out the measuring probe from it, and connect the hole with the funnel. Instead, you can use a rubber hose, into which a certain amount of oil should be poured (as much as it was at the outlet). Then it does not hurt to check the level of the filled oil with a dipstick.
  7. Start the engine, and drive 10 kilometers, then again drive the car onto the overpass (or pit), and turn off the ignition. The process of partial oil change can be considered complete.

Complete oil change

  1. Warming up the engine, installing the car on a flyover
  2. Repeat all procedures related to draining the oil through drainer. Let's pay attention to the process of removing the pan - the fact is that hot oil can flow out of it, so you should be extremely careful to avoid burns.
  3. Fill in new oil as much as the old liquid was poured, as described above
  4. Disconnect the oil pipes at the radiator. They will need to be lengthened, and for this use a rubber hose. Release the hose into a prepared drain container
  5. We start the engine and wait until all the spent fluid has poured out of the hose. Turn off the engine after the black liquid has changed to clean - this means that the new oil has completely replaced the old one, and the complex flush is almost complete.
  6. Shut off the engine, disconnect the hose extensions, and connect them back to the radiator
  7. If necessary, add oil if its level is below the maximum mark indicated on the dipstick.

Oil change at a specialized service station

This procedure takes about two hours. If Kia owner Sportage still decided to deal with branded dealer center, then it is advisable to buy your own oil in order to save at least on it. In this case, specialists use the Wynns Transerve 2 high-tech device, which automatically fills the gearbox with oil. Besides, this device designed not only to fill in new fluid, but is able to completely drain the old oil. For this, the following steps are taken:

  1. Two tubes from the Wynns device are connected to the radiator. From one tube will come out dirty oil, and from the other - a pure liquid
  2. The engine is started, after which the system automatically pumps out all the used fluid from the automatic transmission. There is a complex flushing of the transmission system with a special solution. Absolutely all mud deposits come out of the box, including metal shavings.
  3. After flushing, the device begins to fill in new oil under pressure to a certain rate. This completes the complete oil change process.

Owners of inexpensive Korean cars they try to service the car on their own, so a partial oil change in the Kia Sportage 3 automatic transmission becomes a familiar experience for them. Simple equipment cars, the availability of instructions in the public domain allows them to decide for themselves what, when it is better to do in terms of car care. Planning to get by on your own, start by studying the manufacturer's recommendations.

For the smooth operation of the third Kia versions Oil change in automatic transmission Kia Sportage 3, lubricant change in automatic transmission is carried out every 70-90 km. The decision is made by the motorist, depending on the conditions of use of the car. Change fluid early due date recommended if the following factors are present:

  • constant operation of the car under increased load;
  • periodic towing of other vehicles;
  • driving on roads with poor surface quality;
  • use of an SUV in conditions of low temperatures.

Oil change in automatic transmission kia sportage 3

Doing the work yourself will help not only save money, but also avoid repairing the machine. However, it will not be possible to completely replace the lubricant.

Replacement tools:

When a motorist decides that changing the oil in a Kia Sportage 3 automatic transmission is on the shoulder, you should carefully prepare for the procedure by providing yourself with a number of conditions and tools:

  • Trestle, garage, equipped viewing hole to drain the fluid and visually assess the condition of the transmission.
  • A sufficient amount of oil recommended by the manufacturer, it is better to pay attention to the original brands.
  • It is worth immediately stocking up on additional lubricant for periodic topping up of fluid during the operation of the machine.
  • Replacement materials including oil filter for transmission, crankcase gasket.
  • Set of key heads. Often, 10 and 14 sizes are enough, but others may be required.
  • Pliers, necessary for loosening the clamps on the hoses, their subsequent fixation.
  • Gasoline or flushing the carburetor to flush the automatic transmission after draining the old grease.
  • Empty containers for waste fluid.

When planning an oil change in an automatic transmission Sportage 3, it is worth considering that the use of materials Low quality will lead to the fact that after a short period of time it will be necessary to repeat the procedure.

Oil in automatic transmission kia sportage 3

Having prepared the place and tools, it is worth deciding on the oil. Since the third generation transmission has been improved compared to its predecessors, manufacturers recommend using oil in the Kia sportage 3 automatic transmission with the following classifications:

How much oil in automatic transmission kia sportage 3

As for the amount of liquid to be poured, for automatic box the volume corresponds to 7.1 liters. Competent replacement oil in automatic transmission Kia Sportage 3 assumes that the amount of lubricant will be as recommended by the manufacturer.

When the liquid is more or less than it should be, there may be problems in the operation of the machine, it will start to act incorrectly or belatedly call out to switch the selector. When the oil is more than expected, serious leaks appear in the seal seal.
After changing the lubricant, it is recommended to check the level daily for two weeks. Since the liquid is viscous, the rate of its distribution among the elements may be slow. This can lead to a drop in the level and the need to add lubrication.

Work on changing the oil in the automatic transmission sportage 3

Beginning self-replacement oils, it is advisable to read the manufacturer's instructions. Information on the Internet refers to general aspects of machine maintenance, without regard to the specifics of a particular modification.

  • Before starting work, we warm up the engine and drive onto the overpass, then follow the instructions: When starting to drain the lubricant, pull out the dipstick to ensure sufficient air flow.

  • Unscrew the plug located at the bottom of the transmission case.

  • To understand how much oil has been drained, it is recommended to collect the used fluid in containers with a marked volume.
  • Remove the transmission pan, drain the remaining grease from it, get to the automatic transmission filter.
  • Remove the filter to be replaced.
  • Thoroughly wash the removed elements in gasoline so that no plaque remains on them.
  • Install new filter, replace the tray.
  • Screw the plug through which the grease drained. Moreover, it is recommended to thoroughly wash the cork in gasoline, replace the gasket under it.

  • Using a funnel, pour in the amount of oil that was drained until oil flows out of the control hole.

  • Warming up the engine, we switch the automatic transmission position lever to different modes with a delay of about 5 seconds, while adding fluid to the gearbox.
  • We unscrew the control hole and drain the remnants.

Complete replacement in a car service

When completely changing the lubricant, a special stand is used. The procedure boils down to the fact that fresh fluid is pumped under pressure, pushing out the used oil. Among the advantages of this option is a complete replacement of the lubricant, which cannot be achieved with independent manipulations.

A professional oil change in a Kia Sportage 3 automatic transmission is dangerous because, in the process of pushing out the old fluid, the sediment can clog the filter.
As a result, simple manipulations result in expensive machine repairs. To avoid such negativity, you should not delay the procedure. By changing the lubricant more often, you will ensure smooth operation car, save on repairs.
