Procedure for complete replacement

Waste drain

It is clear that since you have set yourself the task of changing the oil in the gearbox to the VAZ-2114, then initially you need to drain the old oil. Before carrying out the procedure, take a little ride, warm up the gearbox, and with it the old oil fluid, then it will flow out much faster. You can also check the gearbox oil level without a dipstick. It is not so simple and convenient, but it must be done. To do this, you will have to crawl under the car and remove the crankcase protection, unscrew the gearbox filler plug and manually check the weight level. If you can feel the oil with your finger, then it is enough, if not, you need to change or top up.


Important! Do not suddenly switch from mineral to synthetic oil. Synthetics will begin to corrode the stubborn residues of mineral oil that you have used before, which can cause defects in the seals.

What factors need to be considered when choosing an oil

In order to choose the right oil that suits your car, you need to take into account a number of factors that affect its choice:

Important! If the VAZ 2114 was released before 2003 without a dipstick, you need to remove the oil drain plug that is located on the right side of the case.

Substitution rules

  1. If you fill the car with the same oil as before, you do not need to flush the engine.
  2. Never mix different oils in the gearbox. Different characteristics of oils can lead to undesirable consequences.
  3. The engine should be flushed before changing the oil to a new one that differs from what was used before. For washing, mix oil and kerosene in equal proportions. Pour the mixture into the box, start the engine and engage first gear. Wait 5 minutes. Stop the engine and drain the fluid.
  4. Be sure to wear protective clothing (goggles, gloves) and select the correct container for draining the liquid.
