Cars of the Datsun brand are favorably distinguished by the fact that they offer a classic automatic machine in the super-low-cost segment. The unit went to "Datsuns" from the VAZ models "Kalina" and "Grant", which in almost all configurations have already moved to the notorious "robot" AMT with an ambiguous reputation. The price of the popular Korean Kia Rio and Hyundai Solaris has already flown into space, and therefore it is not at all surprising that Datsun cars have a stable audience.

As for the transmission itself, we are talking about a classic automatic with a torque converter from the Japanese company Jatco. The 4-speed automatic transmission once worked its main life cycle in the "Nissan" Micra, Tiida and Note, after which it found a second life in Lada cars. "Datsun" got this unit with reconfigured "brains" and better smoothness of switching. For Datsun on-DO sedans, the automatic machine is offered starting from the Trust I configuration at a price of 526,000 rubles.

In an amicable way, the time-tested unit should not cause problems for the owners. It is only important to replace the transmission oil with a certain regularity during operation (we recommend doing this even if the replacement is not provided for by the maintenance schedule). However, on the profile forums of Datsun owners, there are already reports of breakdowns of the Jatco automatic transmission.

Some users complain about tangible jerks when switching, others - about electronics "glitches", in which the machine selector is locked in position P, and in special cases the machine simply went into emergency mode and "died".

The waiting period for the unit does not exceed a couple of days (the automatic transmission is in the central warehouse), and another 29,790 rubles will have to be paid for the service work on replacing the gearbox, adapting it and refueling it with oil. The total cost is 245 389 rubles!

1. Engage the 1st gear in the manual transmission or move the variator control lever to the “P” (parking) position, brake the car with the parking brake. Ask passengers to get out of the car. If possible, do not work under a jacked vehicle, but if you cannot do without it, install additional supports under the body.

Additional supports should only be installed under places specially designed for lifting the vehicle.

Place a rubber or wood spacer between the support and the vehicle body. Install the tripod support so that two of its legs are on the side of the car body, and one is on the outside.

We delayed a little the promised news about the Russian Datsun, but we dare to assure you that it is absolutely not in vain. We have at our disposal some details about the transmission and engine for one of the complete sets of the "state employee" of the revived brand.

Our Datsun specification is based on Lada Kalina. The Japanese "state employee" will have a wheelbase of 2,476 mm, and its length will surpass the domestic Grant by 70 mm, that is, it will be equal to 4,330 mm. The increase in the dimensions of the foreign car is due to the longer rear overhang - 1060 mm.

It is known that in 2014 AVTOVAZ will start production of two Datsun models. They, as you might guess, will be a sedan (digital code 2195) and a hatchback (index 2197). Like any normal car, "Datsun" will have several versions, including the "luxury" one. According to the site's own data, the top-end Datsun equipment can get a 1.6-liter 8-valve engine. With almost one hundred percent probability, we can talk about the power of this engine - 87 hp. A mechanical five-speed gearbox will work in tandem with it, but more on it below. Since the car belongs to the segment of budget cars (the promised price is within 400,000 rubles), the sedan and hatchback will receive only two front airbags in the "maximum speed". ABS will be taken for granted.

The Datsun on-DO wheelbase provides adequate comfort on the road and is 2476 mm with a vehicle length of 4337 mm. The width and height of the body are 1700 and 1500 mm, respectively. The ground clearance (clearance) is 174 mm.

Luggage compartment

Datsun on-DO has a spacious trunk and surpasses the domestic Lada Granta. The loading volume of the sedan is 530 liters. Additionally, the trunk holds a full-size spare tire.

The Datsun on-DO sedan is equipped with an engine familiar to Russian motorists from Lada Kalina. The motor has four cylinders that are in-line. The eight-valve engine, which is installed in Datsun on-DO, has a volume of 1.6 liters (1596 cm³). The distributed fuel injection system, which the engine is equipped with, is electronically controlled, which is a plus from a technical point of view.

The maximum power of the unit is 87 horsepower (it is also equipped with an 82-strong unit) and reaches 5100 rpm, while the peak torque stands at around 140 Nm at 3800 developed rpm.

The maximum speed of the unit is 165 kilometers per hour, while it gains a hundred in 12.9 seconds. You can see the engine in the photo below.

Transmission

Before installing the transmission on Datsun on-DO, the developers significantly modernized the domestic gearbox. Datsun on-DO is equipped with only a five-speed manual transmission, which has received an Atsumitec cable drive. The German company Shaeffler equips the car with shift forks.

The automatic transmission is not currently implemented, but the development company plans to equip its vehicles in 2016.

Fuel consumption

The car fully complies with EURO-4 standards and meets all environmental requirements and characteristics. The Datsun on-DO consumes 9.7 liters in city mode, 6.1 liters on the highway and 7.4 liters in mixed mode.

The preferred brand of gasoline for the sedan is AI-95.

Suspension and steering

Datsun on-DO is equipped with front-wheel drive, which he inherited from Lada. Specialists from Nissan have debugged and perfected the suspension.

Improving the domestic suspension from Lada allowed Japanese engineers to increase the ground clearance to 174 mm. This ground clearance exceeds the specifications of the Grants. Thanks to such technical subtleties, driving a Datsun on-DO car becomes much easier.

The front wheels are fitted to the Datsun on-DO sedan thanks to McPherson, which has already become a standard in the automotive industry. The rear wheels are mounted on a transmission beam with a semi-independent scheme.

The suspension elements are perfectly balanced from a technical point of view and make the Datsun sedan practical and reliable on our roads.

With small overall dimensions of the body, Datsun on-DO has excellent technical characteristics... The parameters are supported by the affordability of the price, which makes Datsun on-DO a worthy representative in the Russian automotive market.

Replacement of transmission oil in Datsun models is carried out in accordance with the regulations and in compliance with all requirements. But if the oil in the "mechanics" can be changed independently, then for such an event with automatic transmission you will have to go to the dealer.

Changing transmission oil is a necessary periodic procedure for Datsun models. These vehicles are equipped with manual and automatic transmissions, which require timely maintenance.

How to check the oil level in the Datsun box?

As stated in the mi-Do manual, the oil level should be checked every 15,000 km. To do this, you must comply with some conditions:

• the engine must be turned off;
• the oil in the box must be cooled;
• Datsun itself must be placed strictly horizontally;
• the air filter may need to be removed (for easy inspection).

The oil is checked by measuring its level at the marks of the oil dipstick.

The check itself is elementary - you need to remove the dipstick from the box, wipe it thoroughly with a rag, and then insert it all the way back into the checkpoint. Then the dipstick is pulled out again and the oil level must be exactly between the marks on it - min and max. If the level is lower, add oil.

The oil level should be between the MAX and MIN marks on the dipstick.

What kind of oil is used in Datsun gearbox?

When replacing, you must be guided by the table below. It contains data on the maximum and minimum temperature, as well as the viscosity of the transmission oil.

Changing the oil in a manual transmission for Datsun

How to change gearbox oil on Datsun?

First you need to thoroughly clean the area around the drain hole in the box. After that, it is required to place a container for used oil under the gearbox. It is worth remembering that in the manual transmission on-Do and mi-Do there are about 3-3.5 liters of oil. Therefore, a container with a volume of at least 4 liters is needed. If protected, it will most likely have to be dismantled.

First, the drain plug is unscrewed.

The oil is drained into a prepared container.

After draining, you need to wait a couple of minutes, then tighten the drain plug. Further, the dipstick is removed from the checkpoint, and a hose is inserted in its place with a funnel attached to its upper part.

Then the dipstick is removed.

Through it, oil is poured into the box, and its level is checked with a control plug.

The next step is to insert the hose into the filler hole.

After filling the oil in the on-Do gearbox, its level is checked again using a dipstick, after which the latter is inserted into place.

Thus, the oil is poured into the Datsun box.

Oil change on automatic transmissions on Datsun

The oil change in the Datsun 4-band automatic transmission should be carried out exclusively at a service station by an authorized dealer.
