VAZ 21093 decoding. Specifications. Standard sizes of Volga "Nines"

Until 2004, the VAZ 2109 was equipped with carburetor engines of 1.1, 1.3, 1.5 liters, similar. In subsequent mass production, the installation of injectors was used. The excellent performance of the engine largely ensured the popularity of the VAZ 2109.

The VAZ 2109 engine is represented by 4 generations:

  • Basic VAZ 2109 with a volume of 1.3 liters. The model was developed on the basis of 2108. The service life of the motor reaches 200 thousand kilometers with careful operation. The disadvantages of the model include rapid wear cooling systems, ignition problems.
  • The 1.1-liter VAZ 2109 was used for the “nine” in 1984-1996. In this four-cylinder modification, the displacement is reduced due to the reduction in piston stroke. Weak engine did not contribute to the popularity of the model.
  • The VAZ 21093 carburetor is designed for a working volume of 1.5 liters and is capable of producing a power of 73 liters. With. and has proven itself well among car owners thanks to high reliability and wear resistance. VAZ 21093 became the prototype modern engines Lada.
  • The VAZ 21093i injector is also designed for a volume of 1.5 liters, but produces a power of 79 liters. With. The engine was installed on a large number of VAZ car models. Its advantages are a significant increase in power while reducing fuel consumption, and improved environmental performance. The disadvantages include the usual disadvantage of injectors - the almost complete impossibility of repair.

There are things that cannot be understood with the mind. Many of them are located in Russia and one of these things is the undiminished popularity of the products domestic auto industry. Nowadays, this tradition continues, including in the models of the “ninth” VAZ family - the VAZ 21093 hatchback and the VAZ 21099 sedan.

Both cars are built on the VAZ 2109 platform, which in turn is a modification of the VAZ 2108, and the latter is considered the ancestor of front-wheel drive, transverse-engined cars in the domestic automobile industry.

VAZ 21093 is a two-volume five-door hatchback. It became a replacement for the VAZ 2109, its conveyor production started in 1991. The main differences between the models were the replacement of the front “short wing” and short hood with a “long wing” and long hood, changes to the steering wheel, rear side window trim, and the appearance of the so-called “high” dashboard (and then the “European panel”). Instead of the 1.3-liter engine used on the VAZ 2109, a 1.5-liter carburetor engine was installed (63.7 hp and 94 N/m versus 70 hp and 106.4 N/m), which reduced acceleration time to one hundred from 16 to 13.5 seconds and increased the maximum possible speed from 148 to 156 km/h.

Since 1994, the VAZ-21093 has injection engine the same volume. VAZ 21093 has two modifications: VAZ-21093-02 and VAZ 21093-03, which differ from their base in the final drive ratio (3.7 versus 3.94) and the presence on-board system control, as well as (option 03) trip computer, microprocessor system ignition

The VAZ-21099 car has been produced since 1990, differs from the VAZ-21093 in its three-volume body type - a sedan, has four doors, and a new radiator lining. At one time, this car was a kind of sign of the “eliteness” of its owner. VAZ 21099 has two modifications similar to VAZ 21093 - 02 and 03, and the same technical characteristics. The 93rd and 99th VAZ models have a single-disc clutch, a 5-speed manual transmission, a front independent suspension MacPherson strut (with wishbones and stabilizer lateral stability) and on trailing arms(with hydraulic shock absorbers and coil springs) rear suspension, front - disc, and rear - drum brakes.

Among the operational “disadvantages” of the VAZ-21099 and 21093, first of all, it is necessary to highlight the poor quality of the metal (if you do not apply anti-corrosion treatment, rust spots appear after three years). There is a rattling noise in almost all cars. dashboard, the interior is characterized by poor noise and dust insulation. Considering general trend production of poor quality parts by domestic enterprises means their frequent failure.
The “ninth” family has much more “pros” than negatives. Firstly, this car (taking into account the suspension and ground clearance), like many domestic ones, is optimally suited for the roads on which it drives. The second point, often resulting from the first, is the maintainability of the “nines”. Yes, anything can break and be demolished, but the cost of replacement and repair work will be adequate to the pocket of their owner. Thirdly, parts can be ordered at almost any auto store, and repaired in any garage. Over the past almost 20 years, cars of the “ninth” family have been among the most recognizable on domestic roads.

In Russia, production of modifications of the “nine” was discontinued in 2004. The successor to the model, is still produced at the Volzhsky Automobile Plant in the classic line of bodies: sedan 2115, 3 door hatchback 2113 and 5-door hatchback 2114.
Currently, production of the VAZ-21093 and VAZ-21099 under their “native” names continues in Ukraine at the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant (ZAZ). The image of a car in which, like Michelangelo’s creations, there is nothing superfluous, provides models based on the “Nine” with inexhaustible popularity and stable sales.

P.S. For the summer of 2010, the price of a VAZ-21099 produced by ZAZ is ~229 thousand rubles. Price VAZ-21093 ~ 221 thousand rubles translated into rubles from Ukrainian. hryvnia.

VAZ-2109 is a domestic Samara-Sputnik, one of the cars of the former Soviet Union, whose production began back in 1987. Then, 4 years later, in 1991, it was replaced by the VAZ-21093, the technical characteristics of which already included a more powerful 1.5 liter engine. In those years, buying a “nine” (as it was popularly called) or a 93 model was considered great luxury. And although the Union has been gone for a long time, 2109 is still in demand, despite the newfangled features of the Priora and Kalina. What caused this popularity?

In order to answer this question, let’s remember what made Samara stand out. After all, at that moment it was impossible to surprise anyone with a 1.5 liter engine. More early models also had such opportunities. As they write, the VAZ-21093 car had front-wheel drive, inherited from his mother - a “nine”, 5-speed manual and only 6 liters on the highway. It seems like nothing special, but if you sit in the cabin: front windows, headlight adjustment, subsequently the appearance of a tachometer, and some happy car owners could boast of central locking.

Please note that panel 2109 does not have a tachometer. Even when it became a foreign car (we are talking about the 2109 Baltic), it did not acquire a tachometer. Photos of the panel for Baltic can be seen in this article.

"Satellite"

Those who remember Soviet prices, especially those who had such a car, will agree that 6 liters per 100 km for a family of 3-4 people was a completely acceptable financial burden. But this “Sputnik” made it possible to organize tourist excursions over long distances.

3 rear seats for two children in a family, spacious trunk, low consumption fuel plus some bells and whistles that the owners of earlier Zhiguli cars could not boast of - the result is a VAZ-21093. Specifications We'll look at the cars below, but the entire auto industry of those times did not have a more comfortable car, suitable for both city and country roads. “Nivas,” “fours,” and “twos” don’t count, because when we folded the rear seats, we got a semi-truck version that was larger in volume than the named models. You can mention model 8, the same Sputnik, but do not forget that the “nine” has five doors versus three for the 2108.

Appearance of the injector

With the development of production, very soon after the launch of the 2109 model, the VAZ-21099 sedan appeared at AvtoVAZ, which already came with an injection engine. However, the great popularity of the hatchback forced the VAZ team to reconsider plans for the 2109. In 1991, a year after the launch of the 99th model, the VAZ-21093 injector appeared, the technical characteristics of which became the norm for all future nines. As they wrote in press releases of those times, this model is more suitable for a family man and has a less expressive appearance than the 2108. However, with the advent of the 99 model, which received an injector before the 93, the star of Sputnik at AvtoVAZ very soon waned. The model was supported by Ukraine, but production has been discontinued since 2011. It is interesting to note that in Ukraine the car left its original title, despite the fact that it was assembled at the same plant where Zaporozhets, Tavria and subsequent brands were.

Misconceptions

There are several opinions regarding the specification of the VAZ-21093 model. Technical characteristics: injector, 1.5 liter engine, front-wheel drive, 5 doors, etc. At the same time, other reference literature may indicate other data that includes the same characteristics, with the exception of 1.6 liter engine capacity. But according to the factory specification, all 99, and then 93 models had only a 1.5-liter engine. Yes, there were almost 1600 without a few units, but the specification still classifies them as class 1.5. The batch with a liter engine, which was produced on the basis of the same “mother”, has nothing to do with 93, because it was called 21091.

Injector or carburetor?

It should be noted that the 93 model was produced in 2 stages. And the main detail early cars(before 1994) different from subsequent cars VAZ-21093. Specifications carburetor cars similar to 2109 and 2108. Starting from 1994, and then from 1997, the characteristics of the 93 model began to be exactly the same as the 99 (except for the body): 1.5 liter engine, front-wheel drive, manual transmission by 5 stages, the fuel supply system from 99, etc. It was because of the appearance of the injector that 93 received new wings, and 99 became longer than the previous ones.

Joint venture

It is impossible not to mention the term that was often used in those years. These letters (SP) were also used at the plant in Tolyatti. This is how Carlotta appeared - a modification of the Belgians, and 9 Baltic - a joint production with Finland. According to official data, the prototype model 93 was modified - 2109, but in the same years one could also find “Carlotta 93” - a modified model assembled on the basis of the VAZ-21093.

This is what Carlotta looked like. Distinctive feature, by which it was recognized even in dense traffic, are the dual headlights. And not a dummy, as some Russian craftsmen did with the flat headlights of the Sputnik, but precisely 2 pairs of headlights that turn on separately, like on a six.

And this is what the panel looks like on a European Lada (photo above): different steering wheel, different lighting, different appearance, but the main features of the panel design of the ninth Sputnik still remain unchanged.

Specifications

It's time to look at the characteristics of our VAZ-21093. Technical characteristics, body type, dimensions and other information are presented below.

Apart from the details that are indicated a few paragraphs above, the design of the VAZ-21093 (principal, electrical and other circuits) replicated the VAZ-21099 with a high degree of accuracy, except that it was one of the first hatchbacks in the Soviet Union.

And a little more separately about Baltic

Strictly speaking, this car is not co-production. "Lada-Baltic" is a completely separate line, which was assembled in Finland - European country- for the European consumer. VAZ had to reach an agreement after sales began to decline export cars. The quality of our transport has not always been stable, and the Baltic project was born just at the time of one of these cases.

The only thing that remained old about the car was its appearance. At the same time, a foreigner can also be distinguished by its design. Firstly, completely different colors, and secondly, the bumpers, sills and window trims were painted in the general tone of the car (this is how luxury cars looked). Thirdly, it was from these models that the Union came up with the idea of using metallic colors. All color solutions This Lada came from the metallic line. It can be said, fourthly, that pure black color was not presented in Europe. These colors were only produced for domestic consumer. It is also interesting to note that the Finns have gone further than Russia. On the Internet there are photographs of cars produced in Finland with other bodies.

Conclusion

One of the models of the outgoing century can safely be called the VAZ-21093 model. It largely received its technical characteristics from adjacent models: 09 and 099, but nevertheless it was a fast, economical, nimble car with a good trunk volume for those times, which enjoys its well-deserved fame to this day.

At the end of the 70s, cars with a hatchback body began to become very popular in Europe. In order to consolidate their position in the global car export market, engineers at the VAZ automobile plant began creating a Soviet hatchback. On December 31, 1978, the first prototype of the VAZ hatchback was released, which in February next year started laboratory tests. This car received a 2-volume 3-door body and, as you might guess, received the factory index VAZ-2108 and the name “Sputnik”, but it did not catch on.

Along with the G8, a 5-door hatchback was also built, but they were in no hurry to put it into production. For economic reasons, more than cheap hatchback VAZ-2108, and the 5-door VAZ-2109 was put into production only 2 years later. Both cars were unified as much as possible, which reduced the cost of their production.

In 1986, the VAZ automobile plant produced a pilot batch of VAZ-2109 cars, and full-fledged production began in 1987. First production cars VAZ-2109, by analogy with the G8, was produced with short front fenders, which were complemented by a special plastic headlight mask. As it turned out, this “beak” in the front of the car was not the most a good option, as a result, in 1989, work began to eliminate it, followed by replacement of the front wings. The first "nines" with updated appearance began to appear at the end of 1990 (modification of VAZ-21093), and the complete transition to new appearance happened in 1991.

In this form, the front-wheel drive hatchback VAZ-2109 was produced in Russia until 2004, after which its production was completed. But the story of the “nine” was not completed here; in the same year, the Ukrainian automobile plant “ZAZ” began to independently produce the VAZ-2109 car until 2011.

It would not be superfluous to note that various modifications front wheel drive cars VAZ-2109 was exported to various countries. In addition, they were mass-produced in Belgium (from 1991 to 1996) and in Finland (from 1995 to 1998). Export models of the VAZ-2109 car were called “Samara” (Samara).

Design and construction

Distinctive feature The VAZ-2109, compared to the G8, had a 5-door body with narrower front doors. One of the features is that the VAZ-2109 received a plastic gas tank, unlike the metal VAZ-2108, and its strength was no worse than the metal one, but the weight was much less. Otherwise, the unification of cars was colossal. Almost all body panels were identical. If you put both cars side by side, it is impossible to distinguish them from the front.

It has become much easier to fit inside the VAZ-2109 car. Compared to the VAZ-2108, the front doors of the Nine have become narrower, and the central pillar has been moved forward, thereby increasing the distance from the pillar to the back of the rear seat. Another advantage of the 5-door body was that due to the displacement of the central pillar, it became easier to put on a seat belt, now there was no need to reach for it, and it did not constrain the driver and passenger when driving.

Early copies of VAZ-2109 cars were equipped with carburetor 4-cylinder, 8-valve engines of various sizes - 1.1, 1.3, 1.5 liters. A 4-speed manual gearbox was installed together. You could find out exactly what engine the car was equipped with by looking at the sign located on the right side of the fifth door, for example the inscription 1300 meant that this hatchback equipped with a 1.3 liter engine.

In addition to the carburetor engine, early VAZ-2109 models, just like the VAZ-2108, received a so-called “beak” in the front part. This “beak” was a plastic lining in which the headlights and radiator grille were enclosed, in addition, because of it there was a slightly different shape of the wings and hood. The fenders, like the hood, were shortened. After restyling in the 90s, this lining was abandoned, and the car received long wings and a different hood.

After restyling in the mid-90s, VAZ-2109 cars received injection engines VAZ-2111-80 and VAZ-11183-20, with volumes of 1.5 and 1.6 liters, respectively. Also in the 90s, VAZ-2109 appeared in the “Lux” configuration; they were distinguished by a more modern instrument panel, which included a tachometer and a trip computer. As an option, the car could be equipped with air conditioning, a sunroof, power steering and power windows.
