Tiida's ground clearance is 180 mm - that's great! The omnivorous suspension will swallow any unevenness, for which it can be forgiven for slight discomfort on Russian asphalt.

Lighter 16-inch tires allow you to race even on rocky dirt roads. No matter how hard we tried, we were never able to break through the suspension.

And Tiida looks great. In fact, before us European Nissan Pulsar, which in its maximum configuration even boasts LED low-beam headlights, but with a more impressive ground clearance and thoroughly adapted for Russia. Of course, the battery has been strengthened, the washer tank has been enlarged, and there are other updates characteristic of our climate.

Of course, in Europe the Pulsar is much more equipped, but it’s unlikely that we need all these options. What's the point of a surround-view system if the cameras will almost always be dirty, and even without them, parking a hatchback is not at all difficult. And about the sensors road markings and let’s not talk: where are the road markings?

In a popular hatchback, a rear view camera is sufficient, and, just in case, navigation - they are offered in the most expensive trim levels.

But forget about the leather interior, which is in the sedan: in its place is a combined synthetic fabric that does not heat up so much in the sun, and is washed no worse than slippery leather.

It’s a pity that the leather steering wheel and cruise control are available only in one single maximum configuration with a CVT. Thus, fans of mechanics will have to be content with a very meager interior.

They clearly saved money on the interior; adherents of the youth style may not like such classics and communication with hard plastic. In addition, the seats are set too high.

We sit cross-legged in the back

If only as in Nissan Note It was possible to move the rear seat back and forth, varying the space between the rear seats and the trunk, the Tiida could definitely replace the once very popular compact van.

When folding, rear backrests form a noticeable step on the floor, but these are rather nitpicks, which will be noticed primarily by people of the older generation who want such a hatchback for their gardening needs.

Nissan-Tiida cannot offer much trunk space, 300 liters is not bad, but it average in class. The liters are clearly consumed by the full-size spare tire under the floor. The internal threshold through which we carry luggage is low - this is convenient.

Sound insulation reaches the heights of a larger sedan Nissan Teana– you can guess about the quality of the asphalt, but the road noise is slightly noticeable only to passengers in the back seat. In front, up to 130 km/h you can talk without raising your voice. But here’s the problem: in order to accelerate to this speed you will have to apply noticeable effort to the gas pedal.

Despite the fact that Tiida is positioned by Nissan as a more youthful model than the Sentra sedan, they have the same power units - this, I repeat, is a 117-horsepower 1.6-liter engine. and, to choose from, a 5-speed manual or a CVT with a very large operating range.

Unscrew the motor

Formally, the power should be enough, for a long time I drove a heavier one with a 120-horsepower 1.8 engine and did not know any problems with the dynamics. But the Nissan Tiida 2015 test took place on winding mountain roads, and in order to stay in the flow, the engine had to be literally cranked until it rang. Thrust appears only after 4000 rpm.

On high speed The roar of the engine can be annoying.

It’s good that, paired with a manual transmission, the engine spins up to almost 7 thousand, and by quickly changing gears, you can accelerate very confidently even with fully loaded. If you don’t rush anywhere and come to terms with the status of a slow-moving vehicle, then you can save a lot of fuel by keeping the speed within 3000. Alas, I was never able to catch the average comfortable-dynamic mode. Even with a CVT it is very difficult to control acceleration.

Theoretically, the CVT has seven virtual gears, but there are no mechanisms to control them. The selector has a button to go to sport mode, it does not allow the engine speed to fall below 2000-2500 rpm, but in any case this is not enough for more or less normal acceleration.

There is also an L mode, but it's not much use. In addition, it deprives the driver of the ability to brake with the engine. It's worth letting off the gas steep descent, and the engine speed immediately drops to a minimum. It's not safe to drive on slippery roads like this.
Sometimes it seems that the previous generation Tiida, equipped with an old 4-speed automatic transmission, which has now migrated under the hood, drove in urban conditions no worse, and it was even more convenient to control the dynamics. Except that fuel consumption on a previous generation hatchback was usually 8-10 liters per hundred, whereas now it has dropped to 6.5-8 liters.

Maybe someday the Tiida, and with it the Sentra, will receive a proven 2-liter engine, which we know well from Qashqai crossovers and X-Trail. Well, and then you'll see it gets to us loaded Pulsar version with a 190-horsepower turbo engine, which is installed, among other things, on the Nissan Juke.

If you drive more quietly, you will continue to drive and there will still be gasoline left.

Well, for now, despite the comfortable suspension, excellent sound insulation and huge interior, I can recommend the Tiida only to those drivers who are not in a hurry. I hope there are many of these, because only then will we have a chance to see truly fast versions of this beautiful hatchback that can compete with.

The 2015 Nissan Tiida was introduced a year after the presentation of the Pulsar. This event took place on March 12, 2015. The hatchback is built on the same platform with Sentra sedan and will be released on the same production facilities in Izhevsk.

Just look at the photo to understand that the interior is borrowed from. As they say, “simple, but tasteful.” There are no parts overloaded with buttons, the instrument panel does not look spartan, however, it does not make it difficult for either the driver or the front passenger to get in.

Let's start with the filling. Located on the center console touchscreen 5.8 inches diagonal. It works in both rear view camera mode and navigator mode. In addition, it displays the Nissan Connect interface, which allows you to pair your phone with the multimedia system. Thus, new Nissan Tiida becomes a large phone on wheels with all the attendant functions: receiving calls, listening to music, viewing mail and social networks.


A climate control control unit is installed just below, which is divided into two zones. I must say, if not for the display, this block would attract more attention than multimedia. The instrument panel is outrageously simple. There are two aluminum wells, several instruments, and an on-board computer display. Cheap, cheerful and very functional. The rear sofa can be designed differently, depending on the configuration. For example, the base does not even have a central armrest. If there is one, then a pair of glass holders are built into it. It must be admitted that the designers did a good job of designing the backrest profile of the second row. It folds up, but you can’t get a flat floor here. If the rear row is folded, you can get 1319 liters of usable space.

In Russia, the model of the year comes with a single engine, which came into the world back in 2005. Yes, the company has modified it a little, but the 117 horses taken from the 1.6-liter inline four still please the driver.

The basic configuration of the Nissan Tiida is called Welcome. Its main points include six airbags, a distribution system braking forces, ABS and system directional stability. It is noteworthy that the Nissan Tiida 2015 in the basic configuration is equipped only with audio preparation with 4 speakers, and there is no radio itself. An ISOFIX mount is installed at the rear. The first car under the name Tiida was released in 2004. Belonging to the compact class, the car was built on the platform of the younger model Note (Nissan Note). The first generation Tiida had several other names. In the North American market it was known as Nissan Versa, in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia - Latio, and in its native Japanese market Tiida Latio.


It’s the same story with modern Tiida. Local versions of this car have been sold in different markets since 2011. Hatchbacks are offered under the names Pulsar and Tiida, while sedans are offered under the names Sylphy and Sentra. The new product has only just reached us now. But immediately with production in Izhevsk and serious adaptation to local conditions.

Externally, the Nissan Tiida repeats the European Pulsar, but in technically it is unified with the Sentra sedan produced by the same IzhAvto. Both domestic cars differ from their European and American counterparts. The modern Nissan V platform was not very suitable for building cars with comfortable driving bad roads suspension settings and reasonable ground clearance.

To solve technical problems, elements from the older platform B were introduced into it. Subframes, strut supports, and some power elements of the bottom were borrowed. Under the bottom of the car at the lowest point is 155 mm, which is 15 mm more than that of the European. The front suspension is a universal MacPherson strut; on the rear, the Japanese saved money and installed torsion beam. Many competitors offer more class-appropriate independent wishbone suspension.


As a result, the car endures adversity domestic roads, doesn’t bother you with shaking and bumps, but it rolls and doesn’t dive into turns very willingly. The empty steering wheel does not make driving pleasant even in a straight line. It's good that the brakes are set close to ideal. The deceleration is effective and predictable.

Comfort squared

The non-alternative 1.6-liter power unit also sets up for smooth and quiet movement. This naturally aspirated petrol engine, labeled HR16DE, is a modified version of the engines previously installed on the Qashqai, Juke and many other models of the Renault-Nissan concern. Its 117 hp. close enough for normal movement in such a large vehicle.


Fans of intense acceleration are unlikely to like the transmissions combined with this engine. The long lever of the 5-speed manual moves too freely in the rocker. The same can be said about the clutch pedal. It is light, and the moment of switching on begins to be felt only after adaptation.

Even more specific automatic transmission. This is a classic V-belt variator. And it behaves accordingly, with mournful freezes on one note and other features that are usual for such a transmission. Under intense acceleration, a barely noticeable specificity appears. The engine speed first jumps to 4.5 thousand, and then increases step by step to maximum.


There is no great desire to hold the gas pedal to the floor for a long time. At the top, the engine is generally quiet and begins to make noise. But the car still accelerates: 10.6 seconds to a hundred with a manual transmission and a little more with a CVT – this figure is quite acceptable. But the fuel consumption is good. With any of the gearbox options, consumption is 8 liters in the city.

Competitive advantage

What is really worth buying a Nissan Tiida 2015 for is the interior of the car. First of all, it's really spacious. The wheelbase of 2700 mm and competent ergonomic design provided a good supply of space in both rows of the car. In terms of space in front of the knees in the second row, the car surpasses many models in a class (or even two) higher.


The finishing materials are also quite good. Yes, only the upper part of the front panel is made of soft material, and the light carbon inserts are a little rustic, but general impression quite favorable. When the engine is running normally, the cabin is quiet and comfortable.

Tiida does not have an optitron instrument panel, and some keys are not backlit. But everything is in its place, and the car’s equipment can be considered sufficient. Depending on the configuration, you can get such nice things as LED headlights, 2-zone climate control, color touch screen multimedia with navigation and rear view camera, keyless entry, cruise control, light and rain sensors, comfortable armrests on both rows of seats.

The only thing missing from the maximum speed is leather trim. The basic version is equipped somewhat in a European way. It has ESP, but no air conditioning.


The luggage compartment is not too spacious, only 307 liters. There are no nets or hooks for securing luggage. The seat backs fold down to form a high step.

Options and prices

The 2015 Nissan Tiida, like the Sentra, is positioned as a large car at an inexpensive price. But today's realities do not allow manufacturers to offer truly affordable prices.

Therefore, the car falls into a typical this moment for golf class, price range. Prices start at 839,000 rubles (for basic equipment Welcome with a manual transmission), and reach 1,030,000 rubles per maximum configuration Tekna with CVT.


The car is comfortable and spacious salon, but the car is not suitable for people with driving ambitions. For similar money and even cheaper, you can buy more interesting cars to drive.

This is an in-line 4-cylinder 16-valve engine with aluminum block cylinders and chain in the timing drive. Chain drive gas distribution mechanism can ensure very long and trouble-free operation. However, this engine also has one minus, even though the engine is relatively modern, there are no hydraulic compensators. So the thermal clearance of the valves must be periodically adjusted manually.
