Everything in the car is good - neat head optics and rear lights, large glass area, short (both front and rear) overhangs. Despite the fact that the production of the model has already been discontinued, it has an appearance that looks relevant to this day.

At the same time, the width of the car is 1694 mm, and the height is 1624 mm. The wheelbase of the "German" is 2630 mm, and ground clearance(clearance) - 140 mm.

It is worth noting the convenient location of the buttons for activating the heating of the front seats - right in front of your eyes between the ventilation deflectors. On the console there is a place for control units for "music" and the climate system.

The back of the rear sofa can be transformed, thereby increasing the useful volume to 1410 liters, and the length of the cargo area - up to 1.7 meters (up to 2.4 meters for "narrow length gauges"). At the same time, the shape of the luggage compartment is rectangular, and the walls are absolutely even.

Specifications. Initially, five petrol engines and three diesel engines were offered for the Opel Meriva A:

  • The gasoline range included 1.4 ~ 1.8-liter 4-cylinder 16-valve atmospheric aggregates with a capacity of 90 ~ 125 hp, which were paired with a 5-speed transmission (manual or robotic), transmitting all the power to the wheels of the front axle.
  • Diesel turbocharged power units (also "in-line sixteen-valve fours") with a volume of 1.2 ~ 1.7 liters provided a return of 70 ~ 101 hp. and worked exclusively in tandem with a five-speed "mechanics".

As a result of the modernization in 2006, the engine and transmission range was noticeably "revised" and modernized:

  • Only three gasoline engines remained - with a volume of 1.4 ~ 1.8 liters, a power of 90 ~ 125 hp, which remained with the same “boxes” (5-speed “mechanics” or “robot”).
  • There are three "turbodiesels" left, but they have become "stronger" - with the same volume of 1.2 ~ 1.7 liters, they already gave out 75 ~ 125 hp, and in terms of transmissions - the "junior" remained with a 5-speed "mechanics", and here the "senior" got a 6-speed "mechanics" or a 4-speed "automatic".

Diesel engines provide "Merive" top speed 155 ~ 195 km / h, conquering the "first hundred" in 11 ~ 18 seconds and consuming an average of 5 ~ 6 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. Gasoline engines can accelerate the car to 165 ~ 195 km / h, reaching “hundreds on the speedometer” in 11.5 ~ 14.5 seconds and consuming about 6.4 ~ 8.2 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers in the “combined cycle”.

On the front axle of the "Meriva" is installed independent suspension with MacPherson struts, a semi-independent scheme with linked levers is used on the rear axle. Steering supplemented by an electric booster, and brake mechanisms on all wheels disk.

Prices. In 2017 on secondary market Opel Meriva A is available at an average price of 200,000 - 400,000 rubles (depending on installed engine, equipment level and year of manufacture).

Test drive Opel Meriva

Test drive compact MPV Opel Meriva. The suspension is not very comfortable. For example, if the suspension still copes with small and medium pits, then it gives in to large depressions on the road, especially if these pits have sharpened edges. Potholes or potholes are clearly reflected by blows in the cabin and on the suspension elements. The steering does not shine with informativeness, one gets the feeling that you are not driving a car, but a computer stimulator. The coolest thing about Meriva is the tenacious brakes, the sound insulation of the cabin, impeccable by the standards of the class, namely the turbocharged 1.4-liter gasoline engine paired with a 6 manual transmission.

2011

On the second generation Opel Meriva, a completely new handbrake design was tested. Engineers abandoned the traditional drive and developed the so-called push-button handbrake, which operates on the principle of a brass core with a retractor. The drive itself turned out to be quite effective, the machine was securely fixed on a slope of any steepness and did not roll down. However, this parking brake could only be applied by pressing the button after the vehicle had come to a complete stop.

In fact, the handbrake is designed for this mode of operation. However, many motorists believe that it should also be a safety means to stop the car in an emergency when the standard brake system failed.

Opel Meriva, the characteristics of which are constantly updated, has a full power package, which includes power windows and exterior rear-view mirrors. The telescopic steering column is height adjustable. The machine is equipped with a central lock.
