It is not only the most voluminous, but pleases with a set of pleasant little things. Yes, competitors can also boast of convenient side pockets, but the hook for fixing the raised floor in the open position is unlikely. As well as having a spare wheel. Yes, this is just a stowaway. But the rivals do not even have that. A trifle, but nice.

And yet German sports sedans are loved not for the trunk and not for the back row, but for their behavior on the road. With this, A4 is in complete order. Power 249 hp today does not boggle the imagination. A new 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol engine is available for the Audi A4, which can be ordered in two versions - 120 and 170 hp. The top-end 3.0-liter TFSI petrol engine, which produces 272 hp, stands apart from the others. in the version for Audi A4 and 333 hp in the version for the sporty S4. As for the diesels, the following options are available: a 2.0-liter TDI with 136, 163 and 177 hp, as well as a 3.0-liter engine that produces 204 or 245 hp. depending on the version.

For the Audi A4 family, quattro® all-wheel drive uses a self-locking center differential. In normal driving mode, it distributes the torque mainly to the rear wheels in a ratio of 40% to 60%. If necessary, redistribution occurs in the shortest possible time. Torque Redistribution helps the center differential work by using the brakes and giving the vehicle better handling.

Following the "older" A4 models, they were equipped with modern security systems: now the electronics follow the markings, road signs, the car automatically brakes in front of an obstacle at speeds up to 30 km / h, monitors the driver's reactions and condition depending on driving style. In addition, a blind spot tracking system has appeared.

The presentation of the Audi A4 in the new B9 body took place on June 29, 2015. The world premiere will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. This is the fifth generation of this model.

The appearance of the Audi A4 2016 has noticeably changed, it has become more aggressive. The author of the updated look is the same designer Walter De Silva. The changes affected several elements at once. Already in the base, the car is equipped with xenon headlights, which have LED daytime running lights built into them. The rear lights have received new geometry and a larger surface area. Dimensions and turn signals are clearly visible from the side view and from behind at a great distance. Fog lights, although they remained at the same level, have made room for the placement of sensors for monitoring road markings and thermal imaging equipment.

The car also features a wider Singleframe grille, redesigned bumpers (reminiscent of the sporty R model), re-shaped rearview mirrors and increased use of chrome trim.

The sloping roof, the sharp corner of the windshield in combination with the embossings located on the side parts of the body provide an excellent passage of the incoming air flow. The drag coefficient has been reduced to 0.23 for the sedan and 0.26 for the station wagon, which in turn will reduce fuel consumption.

In terms of its dimensions, the 2016 Audi A4 turned out to be slightly larger than the car of the previous generation. The length of the sedan is 4726 mm (+ 25), the wheelbase is 2820 (+ 12), the width is 1842 (+ 16), and the height remains unchanged (1427). The Audi A4 B9 (2015-2016) is based on the second generation MLB platform, due to which it was possible to reduce the weight (depending on the modification) by 120 kg compared to its predecessor.

The interior has become an order of magnitude more spacious, mainly due to the increase in the size of the wheelbase. There was an additional 23 mm for the legs behind the seats. The driver and passengers can enjoy completely redesigned anatomically shaped seats. Inside the Audi A4 2016, there is a completely different front panel with a free-standing multimedia system screen, a different climate unit, an even row of air ducts like on the Q7 II and a similar compact gearshift lever that swapped places with the MMI control washer. There are a minimum of buttons on the steering wheel. Minimalism, however, is not at the expense of information content. But at the same time, everything is at hand. Any switch can be reached.

The top-end multimedia system is equipped with an 8.3-inch tablet with voice control, Wi-Fi hotspot, LTE, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Rear seat passengers can also order two 10.1-inch tablets and a Bang & Olufsen audio system.

The trunk of the A4 Avant now holds up to 505 liters of luggage with the rear seats, providing an increase of 15 liters over the old model. When the rear seat is folded down (40:20:40), the volume increases to 1510 liters.

Front and rear, the car received new five-link suspension. For a surcharge, adjustable shock absorbers are offered with two modes of operation: standard and sport. In the first version, the ground clearance is 10 mm lower than on the car in the version with conventional shock absorbers, and in the sports car - by 23 mm.

At the time the model entered the European market, seven power units are available for cars - three gasoline and four diesel ones, as well as the g-tron modification, which runs on synthetic methane.

Gasoline engines for the new Audi A4 are represented by a 1.4-liter "turbo four" with a capacity of 150 hp, as well as two two-liter engines with a recoil of 190 and 252 hp. The latter has a Quattro all-wheel drive and accelerates to a hundred in 5.8 seconds. Among the diesel engines there are two two-liter four-cylinder TDIs with a capacity of 150 (320 Nm) and 190 (400 Nm) hp, as well as two three-liter "six", developing 218 (400 Nm) and 272 (600 Nm) "horses". With the top-end sedan gaining a hundred in 5.3 seconds.

The TFSI and 4-cylinder TDI engines work as standard with a newly developed 6-speed manual transmission, which is 16 kg lighter than the previous one. All engines (except the 3.0 TDI 272 hp) are optionally available with the new 7-speed S Tronic dual-clutch, as a replacement for the old CVT Multitronic. In turn, the 3.0 TDI (272 hp) is offered with an 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox, which also went through a number of changes.

It will also offer the A4 Avant g-tron with a 2.0 TFSI engine (170 hp) and 270 Nm, which can run on compressed natural gas (CNG). The cylinders installed under the car can hold 19 kg of gas at a pressure of 200 bar and according to Audi with a consumption of less than 4 kg / 100 km - the range on gas will reach 500 km. When the gas is depleted, a full tank of gas will allow you to drive another 450 km.

It is expected that later the line of engines will be expanded, including through hybrid modifications with the ability to recharge batteries from a household network.

In fact, the new cross-station wagon is an off-road version of the Audi A4, created by increasing ground clearance and a body kit for the lower perimeter of the body with plastic protective elements. In addition, the SUV received wide wheel arches and high-profile tires. As a result, Olroad, in comparison with the base model, acquired a more solid and presentable look, while retaining all the advantages of the Audi A4 station wagon.

External appearance

As already mentioned, the allroad quattro looks more powerful and solid compared to the base model. The front of the SUV is crowned with a massive chrome grille, bi-xenon front optics with two rows of LED-garlands and a powerful bumper with built-in air intakes. From a side view of the car, the ground clearance increased by 34 mm in comparison with the base Audi A4, powerful protective linings for wheel arches and sills, chrome roof rails and light-alloy wheels ranging from 17 to 19 inches are striking.

The rear of the SUV is equipped with a plastic bumper with aluminum inserts, which are integrated with massive exhaust tips, and LED lights of the original shape.

The Audi A 4 allroad comes on the market in 14 paint finishes, the most sought-after and stylish of which are gray, black, silver, white and brown.

In the basic configuration, Olroad is equipped with xenon headlights with LED inserts for daytime running lights and LED rear indicators. In top-end versions, the car can be equipped with Matrix Led lighting equipment and dynamic direction indicators.

What's in the salon?

The interior design of the cross-station wagon is completely identical to the interior of the base Audi A4 model. Thanks to the use of high-quality premium materials, the car's interior looks attractive and modern. At the same time, special emphasis is placed on high ergonomics and ensuring the comfort of the driver and passengers. In front there are anatomical chairs with multilevel adjustment, and passengers in the back row are provided with a three-seater comfortable sofa. However, it should be noted that the presence of the transmission tunnel somewhat reduces the level of comfort of the passenger sitting in the middle of the sofa.

Since the sales of the "raised" Audi in the Russian market will start in the fall of this year, it is difficult to judge in what basic configuration the car will be sold in our country.

In the meantime, it can be noted that as an optional equipment, the SUV can be equipped with a virtual instrument console with a built-in 12.3-inch display, a multimedia center, a luxury Bang & Olufsen audio system, and Audio tablets built into the backrests of the front seats. Also, as options, the car can be equipped with modern navigation systems, adaptive cruise control, sensors and sensors for automatic parking, and other equipment that ensures the comfort and safety of an SUV.

The luggage compartment of the cross-wagon is 505 liters. It can be increased to 1510 liters by folding the backrest of the rear bench.

The range of diesel engines with direct injection of fuel into the combustion chamber, intended for a universal off-road vehicle, includes the following power units:

Equipped with the most powerful of these engines, the vehicle can accelerate to 100 km / h in just 5.5 seconds. When the speed reaches 250 km / h, the electronic speed limiter is triggered. Average fuel consumption per 100 kilometers is about 5.3 liters.

In addition to diesels, Olroad can be equipped with two types of gasoline engines - 2-liter TFSI with 190 and 252 horsepower.

The car is offered in versions with 6-speed "mechanics", 7-band S-tronic and 8-band automatic Tiptronic.

The basic configuration of the Audi A4 allroad quattro is equipped with electric power steering and disc brakes on all wheels. An adaptive suspension with electronic control is available as an option.

But the main feature of such popularity of this car is its convenience, thoughtfulness and, importantly, safety. The gears are switched clearly and confidently, for which you don't even have to take your hand off the armrest, which, by the way, is quite comfortable.

If we compare the Audi A4 Quattro 1.8 with the usual "four", then driving on the same road will be completely different. Confident cornering at high speed is immediately noticed, and in general the car holds the road better. Even if the car goes into side slip, the electronics intervenes - EDS, which automatically locks the Torsen center differential. In just a moment, the grip is maximized. Of course, the suspension also plays an important role here. At the front, it is an independent 4-link with an anti-roll bar. At the rear, double wishbones are also installed with a stabilizer. But still, even an all-wheel drive car has a limit, and when you feel it, a fairly effective braking system with ABS and EBV comes to the rescue, which distributes the braking force along the axles.


Today, special attention is paid not only to active, but also to passive safety. Regarding a4, this is in complete order. The body has a high level of rigidity, airbags in the front and sides are already familiar. In addition, galvanizing of the body is of no small importance, since corrosion is not only a deterioration in appearance, but also the appearance of weak areas, which negatively affects the safety margin of any car. In addition to everything that has been said above, it can be noted that the all-wheel drive Audi A4 is equipped with an immobilizer included in the standard equipment.
