What kind of power steering oil is poured into the Chevrolet Aveo. Changing the oil in the power steering and bleeding the steering system of the Chevrolet Aveo car. Oil change process

There is nothing difficult in changing the power steering oil on the Chevrolet Aveo - you can do everything yourself. To change the power steering fluid, you need a syringe, an empty container for the old fluid, and, of course,.

How to change the power steering oil Chevrolet Aveo

Use a syringe to pump out the old fluid from the expansion tank. Then unscrew the expansion tank fasteners and remove it to gain access to the hoses. By disconnecting the hoses, you can drain the remaining fluid from the reservoir.

Next, you should lower the hose into the container and turn the steering wheel - a little more liquid will go. After that, replace the tank, connect the lower hose and plug the upper hole in the tank. Pour new oil into the reservoir and turn the steering wheel again until the hose starts run clear liquid... Then connect the upper hose, pour new fluid into the tank to the maximum mark, start the engine and turn the steering wheel. If the liquid leaves the tank, top up.

When to change power steering fluid on Aveo

The maintenance regulations on the Chevrolet Aveo do not indicate the frequency of replacing the power steering fluid. It is prescribed to check the fluid at the next maintenance every 15,000 km and change if it becomes dark and cloudy.

If you begin to notice problems (a hum or noise appeared when turning the steering wheel, etc.) in the operation of the power steering (GUR) - you should think about changing the oil in the power steering... This usually means that the hydraulic oil is dirty and needs to be replaced.

In the Chevrolet Aveo, oil change in the power steering is not regulated, i.e. the driver only has to monitor the level and top up the missing amount. However, experienced aveovody recommend replacing the power steering fluid at least every 100 thousand km.

Help:

  • The power steering fluid has a volume of 1.1 liters.
  • The manufacturer recommends using DEXRON-III hydraulic oil in power steering.

Before undertaking the replacement of the power steering fluid, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the diagram of the steering mechanisms of the Chevrolet Aveo T-250.

Oil change in power steering Aveo

To replace the power steering fluid, you will need the following materials:

  • A 20 dm medical syringe (it will be good if you pick up a 10-15 cm long tube for it).
  • Socket wrench 10.
  • Domkarat (needed in case of hanging out the front of the car).
  • Pliers.
  • Container for draining old fluid.
  • Watering can.
  • Rags.
  • Assistant (it will be much easier to do the whole procedure together, as well as to pump out the system from the air).

The procedure for changing the oil in the power steering

  1. Open the lid of the power steering system reservoir and pump out the liquid with a syringe.

    Pump out liquid from the reservoir

  2. Unscrew the nuts securing the tank.

    Unscrew the tank

    Also unscrew these two tank fastening nuts.

  3. Use pliers to squeeze the return hose clamp and disconnect it from the reservoir.

    Disconnect the return hose

  4. Place the waste container in a free area and route the disconnected hose into it. If the container is installed below the liquid level, then part of it will drain from the system on its own.

    Install a container to drain the remaining liquid

    To speed up the process of pumping out the remaining liquid, hang out the front of the car (it makes it easier to turn the steering wheel when the engine is not running) and turn the steering wheel in different directions.

    As an option for completely pumping out the liquid, you can connect a pump or compressor to the reservoir and purge the system, squeezing out the remaining oil.

  5. Disconnect the second hose from the tank and remove the tank.

    Disconnect the second hose

  6. Thoroughly wash the tank, you can use gasoline for this purpose.
  7. The reservoir contains a non-removable filter, the contamination of which also negatively affects the operation of the hydraulic system of the steering mechanism. Therefore, if the filter cannot be cleaned, replace the tank with a new one.
  8. It's time to use the assistant (if you are smart, then the assistant is not needed). Insert a funnel into the hose that goes straight to the power steering pump (disconnected last), fill in fluid and turn the steering wheel from side to side. Repeat this procedure until clear liquid comes out of the "return".
  9. Connect hoses to the tank and install it.

    Tighten the tank retaining nuts

  10. Add hydraulic oil to the level.

    Pour fresh oil into the power steering system

  11. Now you need to pump the system and get rid of the air, for this we turn the steering wheel and add oil if the level drops.

    Oil level in the power steering reservoir

And also the manual can be used to bleed the vehicle's steering system.

He unscrewed the cap of the expansion tank and pumped all the oil out of it into an empty bottle with a syringe.

Pre-purchased a 20 ml syringe in the First Aid Kit for 1.8 UAH. The only thing was to cut off the needle and the free edge of the case from the needle.

Now they can choose a liquid (in our case, this is the power steering oil). I began to select the liquid from the expansion barrel. Less than half of the canister has been collected. This is the volume of liquid in the expansion tank.

Why did I do this, you ask? To reduce the oil level in the expansion tank of the power steering, where the return pipe of the line enters. We need to unfasten the return line branch pipe. But if we shoot right away, oil will start pouring out of the tank - through the inlet of the return line. The tank is full. Therefore, the first thing we do is empty the tank.

Have you pumped out all the oil? Now you can safely disconnect the return line pipe, through which the liquid returns to the expansion tank. We twist the lid on the tank.

Next, remove the return line pipe from the tank itself. Here we need pliers, we will need to pull off the antennae on the clamp of the pipe itself, removed? Now it will need to be moved a couple of centimeters along the pipe.

Now pull the tube slightly - and voila, you disconnected it from the expansion tank

We remove the expansion tank to the side. And the end of the back pipe must be inserted into an empty canister or bottle, into which we will drain the remaining oil in the power steering system. The canister can be easily installed on the hoses, just below the nipple location. She became very tight - so I didn't have to hold her

I advise from above to seal the space near the tube in the very neck of the bottle or canister (depending on what you use) with a rag. In order to avoid splashing oil - at that moment when it flows out of the pipe, it just spits at that moment.

Now we start the engine and start turning the steering wheel from one side (all the way) to the other side, also all the way. We carry out this procedure until the oil comes out of the system. The moment you turn the steering wheel, it can kind of fall through, spin tightly - do not worry this is normal (about 15-20 seconds are allocated for this procedure, it is no longer possible to turn the power steering pump without oil, as it can simply burn out)

I poured all the pumped out oil into One canister - the photo shows the entire volume of the liquid.

The oil had a pleasant pink color, not black or dark - as many write.

Now, to change the oil in the power steering, we need to insert the hose from the return line into place and secure with a clamp. It is also necessary to screw the reservoir. Unscrew the lid and fill in oil to the maximum.

We start the engine and very quickly run to the expansion tank, the oil level in it should not fall below the filterwhich is located at the very bottom of the expansion tank of the system, the oil has gone into the system - feel free to top up again to the maximum.

Next, we go to the driver's seat and start turning the steering wheel from side to side (All the way) - in order to pump the system completely (in the process, look at the expansion tank, the approximate volume of fluid that fits into our power steering system is about 0.95 liters, keep this in mind)

And now we start the engine, turn the steering wheel again to the stop. We repeat this process 8-10 times, then we check the expansion tank - the bubbles with foam should already be gone. We turn off the car and go for a smoke break, it should stand for about 10-15 minutes. Now again you need to add oil to the maximum mark that is on the wall of the expansion tank and tighten the cap tightly. Now we can congratulate you! Now you know how to change the oil in the power steering.

P.S When a complete oil change in the power steering is made, I recommend getting behind the wheel and driving a couple of blocks in a square - in order to completely bleed the system - since air could remain in it.

To change the fluid, you will need the following things:

  • Phillips screwdriver;
  • key for 10;
  • syringe with a capacity of 20 ml;
  • short and small diameter tube;
  • pump;
  • a kind of jar or bowl for draining old liquid;
  • power steering additive;
  • new dextron 3, the volume of which is 1 liter;
  • power steering additive;
  • pliers, the tool is very similar to pliers, but there are some differences.

Power steering, in another way, power steering is used in most modern cars. It makes driving a car several times easier, which means that in order to enter a sharp turn, you do not need to apply maximum effort for this. The part of the word "hydro" means one thing - the amplifier itself works with the help of a certain liquid, or rather, on a specially designed oil. Facilitation of control is created due to the tightness and pressure in the power steering system. In the event of a fluid exit from the system, it simply ceases to fully function, which will make control difficult and inconvenient.

In theory, this fluid should be replaced every few years if the mileage of your car per year is about 12-20 thousand kilometers. Definitely, it is impossible to predict when the fluid should be replaced, because it all depends on the operation of an individual car. It is best to check the condition of the fluid occasionally and there will be no control problems.
As the manufacturer of Chevrolet points out, there is no need to replace the fluid in this car, while it becomes darker after a while, this directly forces the replacement process. Another reason for the dark color can be various breakdowns in the vehicle control system.

In fact, you will need a lot of different tools and devices, but believe me, comfortable control is worth it.

Step-by-step guide to replacing power steering fluid Chevrolet Aveo

Let's start the replacement process itself. Start with your vehicle fully cooled.

  1. First of all, to reduce the pressure of the power steering, you need to pump out some or even all of the liquid from the tank with a syringe.
  2. If desired, you can speed up the process as follows: pump out a little oil, and drain the rest through the return hose. To disconnect the hose, pull the clamp slightly with pliers.

  3. Now you will need a previously prepared container for draining the liquid and a little waiting until it is completely drained.
  4. During merging, you can find out what state the filter is in, if you find foreign objects, then try to get rid of them properly.
  5. Next, we remove the tank, having previously unscrewed the bolts with a Phillips screwdriver, which fulfill the purpose of the tank retainer. Then we effectively wash it and drain the remaining liquid.

  6. Pour the old liquid into the container through the removed end of the return line. We connect a pump or, if possible, a compressor to the fitting of the same line, thereby the air will allow the remaining liquid to be displaced. When the pump stops working effectively, turn the steering wheel of the car to the sides, but always without starting the car.

  7. We put a clean and dry tank in its place, and fill it with fresh power steering fluid, and it is worth pouring it above the mark on the tank.
  8. At this stage, you should start the car engine and add dextron to the tank, keeping to its optimum level.
  9. With the engine running, turn the steering wheel left and right, which contributes to a good distribution of fluid through the power steering system.
  10. Start the engine again within 15 minutes and repeat the previous step.
  11. Subsequently, the correct distribution of the liquid through the system, its amount in the tank will decrease, which means that we are topping up even to the mark.

    Having done all the steps correctly, you can safely consider the procedure for replacing the power steering fluid as complete, which will make the control of your car much better.

The power steering pump is considered a high-tech unit that pumps fluid under a certain pressure into the steering mechanism and circulates fluid in the steering system. Today we will discuss in more detail the power steering pump of the Chevrolet Aveo.

How is the power steering installed correctly?

Due to the lack of a power steering on a Chevrolet Aveo car, many motorists decide to install the power steering on their own car. Naturally, it will also be necessary to adjust the gearbox speed sensor, otherwise, at the start of the movement at low speeds, the driver will not notice any changes. That is, the steering wheel will turn slightly harder.

At the moment of a set of high speeds, the steering wheel will move to the owner of the vehicle with a low level of resistance.

The most difficult procedure is considered to be the replacement of the gearbox. To carry out this procedure, you will need to cut a hole in the front flap and slightly modify the bipod. To install the gearbox, it will be necessary to install the bracket to which the power steering pump is screwed onto the head of the cylinder block. After that, you need to change the pulley on the crankshaft, and the drive for the pump using a belt drive. Next, you will need to think over the location of the expansion tank, as well as combine all the hoses and fill in oil.
