Replacing Nissan spark plugs. Spark plugs for Nissan Qashqai Spark plugs for Nissan Qashqai

Spark plugs (SZ) play one of the main roles in the ignition system. Their malfunction can cause malfunctions in the entire operation of the internal combustion engine. The article is devoted to SZ for Nissan cars: when a replacement is necessary, which candles to put, how to replace the Nissan Qashqai candles with your own hands.

When do you need to replace the candles?

SZ serve to form a spark that ignites the combustible mixture.

The smooth operation of the engine depends on the quality of sparking. If at least one of the 4 fails, then further operation of the motor will be impossible.

SZ have their own resource. According to the regulations on Nissan cars, they are changed after 30 thousand kilometers. Although SZ must withstand significant thermal and mechanical loads, they are subject to wear and tear and can fail at the most inopportune moment. To avoid an unpleasant surprise on the road, a visual inspection of the SZ should be done at each inspection.

What kind of candles to put?

To avoid problems, it is better to purchase originals for replacement. For Nissan Qashqai, such SZ as NGK Plzkar6a with an iridium tip are suitable. The average service life of the SZ is different and largely depends on the material of manufacture of the electrodes.

Chromium-nickel alloy has increased thermal conductivity and high corrosion resistance. Silver has the best thermal conductivity. The advantage of platinum electrodes is their high resistance to corrosion and resistance to burning (video author - VybratAuto - Automotive information site).

Replacing SZ with Nissan is a laborious process, so it is better to buy high-quality products right away. True, they are expensive. If you want to save money, you can find cheap analogs, which are offered in a large number on the Internet. But such savings can result in frequent replacement of candles.

DIY replacement instructions

The procedure for replacing SZ with Nissan Qashqai, Nissan Note and Nissan Juke is similar, especially in that it is not easy to get to NW. Although this process is laborious, it is quite doable even for a novice car enthusiast.

Tools and materials

To work, you need to prepare the necessary tools and materials:

  • a set of keys and screwdrivers;
  • special candle wrench;
  • torque wrench;
  • new set of SZ;
  • clean rags.

If necessary, it is worth changing the gasket of the throttle assembly and the intake manifold.

The process of dismantling and replacing SZ

If the car is after the trip, then you need to wait until it cools down. The work is performed on a cold engine.

Replacing candles Nissan Qashqai consists of a sequence of steps:

  1. First, the decorative protective cover is removed from the engine. Under it is the collector of interest to us.
  2. There is a pipe between the throttle valve and the filter. To remove it, you need to unscrew the two fasteners and loosen the clamps. Before removing the pipe, it is necessary to disconnect the hose of the ventilation system from the cylinder head.
  3. Disconnect the vacuum hose with gentle movements so as not to damage the plastic manifold.
  4. The next step is to remove the manifold. To do this, unscrew 7 bolts. 5 of them are on top, 6th from the left. To get to the 7th, you need to remove the connector from the absorber purge valve and dismantle the throttle valve by unscrewing 4 bolts around its perimeter.
  5. By pulling out the dipstick so that it does not interfere, you can raise the manifold. You do not need to remove it completely, you can simply tie it up with rope or wire.
  6. SZ are now available. Before replacing them, everything should be thoroughly cleaned of dirt and oil, while not dropping anything in the cylinder head.
  7. As a safety net, you can cover the cylinder head outlet so that nothing falls there.
  8. Now we change the SZ one by one. First, disconnect the connector from the ignition coil. Then the coil itself is removed.
  9. SZ is located under the coil, which is unscrewed using a special spark plug wrench for Nissan.
  10. Then we fix a new candle in the candle wrench and screw it in by hand. Having tightened it all the way, you should take a torque wrench and tighten it to a torque of no more than 18-19 Nm. Overtightening can cause cracks in the spark plug threads and become unusable.
  11. Similar actions are performed for all 4 SZ.
  12. After replacing all SZs, the assembly is carried out in the reverse order.

After complete assembly, you need to start the engine and check its operation with the replaced plugs.

Replacing spark plugs for Nissan Qashqai 1.6 and 2.0 is a necessary manipulation to improve the engine's health. Thanks to the replacement, the motor will run more efficiently and longer.

In the most popular crossover in Europe and Russia, candles for a 1.6 liter engine should be replaced every 40,000 km, for a 2.0 liter power unit every 30-35,000 km and no later. Replacing spark plugs is not only necessary to increase engine performance and longevity, but also to understand engine problems. A frequent reason for replacement is both the loss of their quality by the candles at the end of the recommended service life, and as a result of engine malfunctions, in particular with oil, which almost completely fills the candles and prevents them from detonating.

The first bell that will tell you that you need to replace the spark plugs for the Nissan Qashqai 1.6 is insufficient engine thrust while driving, dull sounds in the engine and ignition problems. The engine with a volume of 1.6 liters with four in-line cylinders at 114 hp in power, which is basic for Kashkai, the main reason for replacement is time, since these motors are one of the best on the market in terms of tightness. Replacing the spark plugs in this engine can be done independently and without significant losses in time. The replacement will take only 1-1.5 hours.

The first thing you need to replace is the tools. So, to replace the spark plugs, you will need the following tools and components:

  • New spark plugs;
  • Key for candles 14 mm;
  • Keys for 8 and 10 mm;
  • Flat head screwdriver.

It is also worth buying a dynamic wrench for replacement, which will correctly distribute the efforts when tightening the candles. This key looks like this:

Before starting work, you should take a smartphone or camera to photograph the mechanisms at each stage of the work done. You will not remember everything completely and hoping for your memory is not worth it. If you can disassemble the upper part of the motor, then it will be a problem to assemble and, as evil, after such a collection, "extra parts" will appear. Armed with tools and a camera, we begin the process of replacing the spark plugs. The whole process takes 14 main points:

  1. Having unscrewed all the bolts, the manifold and the damper should be raised, but it is worth remembering that the oil dipstick should be removed before understanding the damper. The probe looks like a thin stiff wire, you can see it in the photo above, it looks like a yellow ring from above. After lifting, the collector must be secured, preferably with wire.

Replacing spark plugs for Nissan Qashqai 2.0

Replacing spark plugs with Nissan Qashqai 2.0 almost completely repeats the replacement process on a less powerful 1.6 liter power unit. The thing is that the motors belong to the same series, which is typical for all representatives of this series - this is almost identical in structure. Both engines are naturally aspirated without an air blower, both are 4-cylinder and work with the same components. Therefore, if you need to replace the spark plugs with a 2.0 liter gasoline engine, you should see the instructions above.

Spark plug diagnostics

Spark plugs can tell in what condition the working units of the machine are in the state of their surface. The presence of soot, heavy wear, or other deposits can indicate problems with the oil filter, fuel system, or cylinders. The main states of the spark plugs, the consequences of these conditions and recommendations on what to do are shown in the table:

Today a Nissan Qashqai (Nissan Qashqai) car with a 2-liter engine, produced in 2012, on which it is necessary to replace the spark plugs, came to us. We will show you a detailed photo and video instruction on how to do it yourself.

We open the hood, unscrew the engine cover, which is held by two bolts under the head by 10:

Now we need to remove the intake manifold, unscrew the 5 bolts of its fastening to the head:

We take out the dipstick, loosen the clamps on the air duct pipe. We remove it:

We take out the connector from the throttle valve. We have two hoses for the throttle, we remove the clamps from them and plug them with bolts so that the antifreeze does not run away. Bolts 10 are ideal for these purposes. After removing the throttle valve, I recommend cleaning it at the same time; this can be done with a carburetor cleaner. Disconnect all hoses and remove the intake manifold.

In our case, dust got into the intake windows from above, it is imperative to remove it and close the windows so that nothing falls into them during operation.

We remove the ignition coils by simply pressing on their clips. We unscrew the mounting bolts, head 10:

If possible, blow out the candle wells with compressed air so that debris does not get into the engine when unscrewing the candles. Using a 14 spark plug wrench or a similar magnetic head, unscrew the candles:

We will put original candles, their article number 22401-CK81B according to NGK PLZKAR6A-11. I recommend tightening new candles using a torque wrench; according to the manufacturer's technical regulations, it is necessary to tighten them with a force of 22 to 25 Nm. We carry out the assembly in the reverse order.

Not the most difficult and time-consuming task is to replace the Nissan Qashqai candles. Knowing which elements are suitable for your car, you can significantly improve the quality of engine operation and increase the resource of the parts themselves. The ability to change them will save the budget, help out in the event of a consumable breakdown during a trip.

When to replace?

Replacing spark plugs for Nissan Qashqai is usually carried out when the car has traveled about 30 thousand km, it may be necessary to intervene earlier if the operating conditions were difficult and the elements were not installed the best. If you are not the first owner and buy a car, for example, 2012 or 2015, pay attention to the condition of consumables, the degree of their tightening.

It is better to replace candles immediately, even if they work properly. That way, you'll know when to change your Nissan Qashqai spark plugs next time, and the need won't catch you off guard.

Some manufacturers produce spare parts that can last 45 thousand km, but the timing will still have to be monitored. If the check of the engine lights up, start looking for the problem with checking the spark plugs, for this there is a special inexpensive device. In this case, it is not worth delaying the replacement, even if there are no visible engine malfunctions: repairs will be more expensive.

How is the installation going?

Replacing candles on a Nissan Qashqai 1.6 or 2.0 liter is carried out in the same way. The procedure requires some experience, since getting to the candle is not so easy.

It is advisable to purchase a torque wrench in advance. It will help to distribute efforts accordingly, facilitate installation. Get a candle wrench and long tweezers. Do-it-yourself replacement is necessary, observing the regulations. It is carried out on a cooled engine.

Replacement actions are performed in the following order: by opening the hood and finding the place where the candles are located, you still cannot get to them without doing some operations. First you need to disconnect the pipe located between the throttle valve and the filter element. It is necessary to remove the clamps and the hose of the ventilation system. After that, you can remove the vacuum hose, you need to do this carefully. Be careful not to damage the manifold. The cost of repairing it is quite high.

Remove the connector from the purge valve of the absorber, unscrew the brackets; the hose must be removed. You can see the bolt on the right - it also needs to be unscrewed. Remove 5 more manifold bolts. You can reach the spark plugs by lifting the manifold and throttle.

Replacing the Nissan Qashqai spark plugs is accompanied by a very complex set of actions. In order not to forget the sequence, you can photograph the work done in stages. You can watch a detailed video to better consolidate the material. On Qashqai J11 2l or 1.6 everything happens the same. Clear the area around the consumables. Wipe it off, then start unscrewing.

It is very important that nothing gets into the intake holes.

It is advisable to cover the holes with a clean cloth before removing the ignition coils. After that, you can unscrew the old candles and install new ones. Good consumables suitable for mechanics - Denso FXЕ20HR11, you can install Bosch 0 242 135 524; it is not worth saving a few hundred rubles and buying cheap fakes. Their price is lower, but the service life is two or more times less, and the engine's performance will noticeably deteriorate. This will be confirmed by the one who installed such products on the Nissan Qashqai 2.0 or 1.6. Original products will last much longer and will not let you down at a crucial moment.

Do not do it alone - perhaps the main advice to everyone who is going to replace Nissan Qashqai candles without a visit to a car service is on their own and definitely should not rely on themselves if the task is to be completed for the first time.

Technical Center "Garage" invites car owners to any of the branches - Sviblovsky (convenient for residents of the North-Eastern Administrative District and the Northern Administrative District), branches at the metro station. Tyoply Stan (living in the South-West Administrative District) and on Ryazansky Prospect (South-Eastern Administrative District, Eastern Administrative District). The work of the auto technical center masters will take no more than an hour, while the replacement of the candles will be performed with a guaranteed result of the correct operation of the internal combustion engine.

Of the priority points, it is worth noting that the candles are changed on Qashqai only on a cold engine.

Installation errors

With an unprofessional replacement, there is a high probability of damage to the plastic sheathing of the intake manifold; dismantling must be carried out using special equipment. tool. Also, difficulties are caused by the need to remove the bolt under the throttle valve, its position is extremely inconvenient. Unfortunately, it also happens that foreign objects (spare parts) get into the openings of the cylinder head when disassembling.

Often, new candles are installed with an overtightened effort, which can lead to a breakdown of the thread in the candle well, a skew of the element - the result will be incorrect operation of the cylinders. The result of such an error may be the need to repair or replace the engine, cylinder head boring, and this is completely different money.

What tools are needed

Keys. You will need a set of several - a regular 8 and 10, a 14 mm candle (ratchet) and a dynamometer (with an adapter). Plus flat and Phillips screwdrivers, clean rags, brush to remove dirt when removing spark plugs (or blow-out).
Telephone. It is absolutely necessary to photograph each stage, it will greatly help with the assembly of the structure and is guaranteed to help to avoid the detection of unnecessary details.
And, of course, a set of new spark plugs.
Model selection: by serial numbers, it is allowed to put analogs, parts can be purchased at our warehouse of auto parts for Nissan cars.

Dismantling of equipment

The location of the candles cannot be called convenient either on a two-liter engine or on an internal combustion engine of 1.6 liters. The procedure is identical for both types of engines, the very first step is to remove the plastic engine protection cover. It is held on two bolts, and is removed with a simple 10mm head. It is not worth making great efforts in this case, the plastic can be damaged, it is quite fragile.

Having removed the cover, you can see the manifold, which is the subject of inconvenience for the entire subsequent dismantling process. At this stage, you can understand whether you can do it yourself, or you shouldn't risk it, and sign up for a car service. If you are not familiar with the procedure for removing the filter, throttle valve, branch pipes, it is wiser to screw the cover back and trust the technicians of the Garage Technical Center. If you are confident in your abilities, continue through the list.

Remove the branch pipe

  • Loosen the clamps and disconnect the ventilation system hose from the cylinder head
  • Disconnect the vacuum hose with the utmost care - the plastic of the collector is extremely fragile, it can be easily damaged.
  • Remove the pipe between the throttle valve and the engine air filter.

Now you can start removing the manifold. To do this, unscrew the first 5 bolts in front of the engine, but in a specific sequence. First, the middle one is unscrewed, then the bolts closest to it on both sides of the central one, and only after - the extreme fasteners.

Remove the throttle valve and manifold

You will need a screwdriver to remove this element.

  • Only remove the connector directly from the adsorber purge valve; the valve itself does not need to be dismantled.
  • Unscrew another bolt from the cylinder head (key for 8) - fastening the bracket for the cylinder head
  • Disconnect the hoses carefully
  • Unscrew the 4 bolts of the throttle valve in any order, remove it and the gasket.

Now access to the very last manifold bolt is open, it is located to the lower right of the throttle valve, you can safely unscrew it. The collector can be removed and retracted to the side in any convenient way. You can pull out the oil dipstick, for the throttle valve, you can at the same time conduct an audit and, if necessary, clean the part. (Attention! After cleaning the throttle valve, its adaptation will be required, which cannot be done without special Equipment.). There is now enough room to disassemble the old spark plugs and install a new set.

Removing the candles

Before removing the consumables, you will need a clean rag to cover the cylinder head inlets. This will exclude the ingress of foreign objects, dirt, fasteners, etc. into them.

Before proceeding with the removal of the ignition coils, you need to remove the dirt so that its particles do not fall into the spark plug well during dismantling. When the debris is cleared, you can start replacing the candles, it is advisable to do this one at a time, sequentially, candle by candle.

  • Disconnect the ignition coil connector
  • Unscrew the coil
  • Unscrew the old candle

If, during further installation, the coils are mixed up, nothing terrible will happen, the parts are completely identical. But to carefully examine the broken candles is an extremely important matter. By their condition, one can always understand for what reason they burn out. By the amount of carbon deposits, the presence of oil or deposits, by the molten electrode, you can always find out about defects with connectors, fuel, ignition.

Do not forget that the new kit must be identical in its technical characteristics: dimensions, heat rating, clearance. If analogs are installed, they must fully correspond to the original ones, the data on them are always indicated either under the hood or in the service book.

To unscrew the candles using a special. tool - you will need a candle wrench, or, in everyday speech, a ratchet. You need to remove the old ones no less carefully than to put the new ones later. When the first candle is removed, you can start replacing.

  • In the space vacated in the candle well, you need to use the same first lightly "bait" a new part so that the candle fits exactly into the thread, without distortions. It is impossible to use force; if installed incorrectly, the candle may break along with the thread.
  • Reinstall the coils of candles
  • Use only a torque wrench for tightening, with a force of 19-29 Nm
  • Slip the connector onto the coils

The procedure is repeated for each candle in the same sequence, with the same application of tightening forces. After all four candles are installed and the connectors are reconnected, the procedure for assembling the entire structure begins, and here the photographs that were taken during the dismantling process will be very useful.

The assembly is carried out in the reverse order, starting with tightening the 7th, most difficult bolt and then until the engine cover is installed. It is necessary to carefully check the connections of all newly installed hoses, nozzles, the presence of unnecessary bolts is unacceptable.
