There are several reasons for this, and one of them is the dissonance of a name in one language, while in another it will sound very flattering. The same story happened with the Hyundai ix35. And the point is not even that, as in the case of the Japanese Pajero, the name of the SUV had to be changed in the Italian and Spanish markets. Here, rather, it is a matter of euphony.

Initially, since 2009, it was the Hyundai Tucson for the United States. It is understandable, for Americans - everything is decent and fits well on the ear. We have a thousand nicknames stuck to the crossover, since the alien Tucson (or Tucson) did not fit into any framework. But over time, they got used to it, changing the name to Tushkan. But when the second generation of the model came out, the Koreans nevertheless decided to assign it an initial index - I-X 35, thereby depersonalizing the machine and equating it with all other models.

Only now, since December 2015, with the release of the restyled model, the American name was returned to it, and now it is impossible to buy a new Hyundai ix35 in our country. It is not in the list of officially presented models. Official dealers in Moscow are selling off the remains of the Hyundai ix35 2016-2017 model year to fill the warehouses with new Tucson. But the crossover with the index was in enviable demand among the public and was consistently in second place in sales after the bestseller Solaris. And when compared with crossovers, in principle, only Toyota RAV4 sold better. In 2015, Hyundai ix35 was bought 19,000 times, while Toyota was exchanged for money by 23,750 people.
