However, in order to maximize the vehicle's service life, it is important to send the car for service in a timely manner.

Skoda Rapid maintenance terms: when to send the car for diagnostics?

Scheduled technical inspection allows you to get a complete assessment of the condition of the vehicle, which guarantees timely diagnostics of components for wear and replacement of parts with new ones. The technical passport of the Skoda Rapid prescribes the following terms of service:

  • The first maintenance is carried out after 15,000 km of run;
  • The second maintenance must be done after 30,000 km;
  • The third TO - after 45,000.

At the fourth MOT, the dealer's warranty obligations expire and diagnostics are performed solely at the request of the owner. It is also important to know that after reaching a mileage of 100,000 km, it is recommended to carry out a diagnostic inspection either every 10,000 km of run, or after 2 years from the previous one. After a major overhaul of the engine and transfer case, maintenance is performed according to the above algorithm again.

Note! The timing of the complete diagnostics of the car is only the manufacturer's recommendations, until the achievement of which the vehicle is guaranteed to serve without breakdowns and the need for repairs.

An expired mark in the vehicle's data sheet about scheduled maintenance can only deprive the right of free service maintenance under warranty within the first 45-60,000 km of run and does not in any way affect the price of a car in the secondary market or the cost of repairs from authorized dealers.

Maintenance regulations or how is the maintenance of the car going?

The routine inspection procedure takes from 6 to 12 hours, depending on the workload of the authorized dealer's cabin in your region, and proceeds as follows:

  1. Body inspection - a visual analysis of the integrity of the paintwork and anti-corrosion coatings of the body elements, as well as the windscreen and all glasses. Then the bonnet lock is lubricated and replaced with a new cabin filter, after which the exhaust pipe and fuel system attachments are checked. At the end, the drain holes and the drainage box are cleaned;
  2. Diagnostics of the engine and transmission - the oil and air filters and technical oil are replaced, then the additive is added to the fuel G Next, the spark plugs and refractor on the engine are changed, after which the engine is checked for deformations and tightness. Additionally, on models with an automatic transmission, fill in a new ATF fluid;
  3. Checking the running gear - here they check the ball joints and the ends of the steering rods for deformation, then inspect the bearings for backlash. Further diagnostics of the brake system and brake pads for damage and corrosion, after filling the brake fluid to the mark and cleaning the coating of the caliper drum from contamination. At the end of the running gear diagnostics, the suspension system is inspected for leaks and deformations;
  4. Analysis of the condition of the wheelbase - measuring the pressure in the tires and checking the tread depth, after which the rubber expiration date is checked;
  5. Electrical equipment check - monitoring the state of external lighting devices, diagnostics of the battery and electrical equipment control levers. Next, the light optics and the sound signal are checked and calibrated. Finally, the interior lighting of the passenger compartment is checked and the data from the inspection frequency sensor is reset. The Era-Glonass system sensor is also monitored;
  6. Final work and control inspection - this stage involves a control train by car, as well as filling out a service book and a checklist for a technological inspection.

How much does maintenance cost on the Skoda Rapid?

The first maintenance, according to the regulations of the concern, will cost 7,500 rubles, the second will have to spend at least 10,000. The cost of subsequent maintenance will depend on the intensity of operation and the level of wear of the car's components - the main cost of the procedure is the purchase of original parts and consumables.

The manufacturer also offers drivers the ŠKODA Service Plus package of additional services, which includes options for monitoring diagnostics. Thanks to this package, drivers are guaranteed a more comfortable vehicle operation and additional safety assurance.

Not even a year has passed, but the car has already gained thirty thousand kilometers. Considering that almost six months have passed since the last visit to the service station and the car has been running off all winter, it does not hurt to conduct a thorough inspection. To do this, we go to the Skoda dealer service station closest to the editorial office.

The second TO differs from the short first one also by replacing filters: air, fuel and cabin (in addition to oil). The rest of the list of works is very similar.

Having transferred the car to MOT, we followed her. First, a technological sink, and then the masters take over for it.

At each service, the engine oil, the oil filter, and the threaded drain plug with a copper gasket are changed. A total of 5 liters of oil (at the dealership they use branded oil from the VW SAE 5W-40 concern), the filter and plug cost UAH 1,014.82. In addition to changing the oil and consumables, the lighting equipment (adjusted if necessary), brakes and camber-toe angles, as well as the entire chassis for the presence of increased backlash, are checked.

Engine oil and filters at the dealership are only used by the Volkswagen Group.

On the list of our comments there was a knock in the area of ​​the engine compartment. It manifested itself on the "washboard". Sinned on the anti-roll bar, but it turned out that this is an engine support. Mas-t-er identified this in a matter of minutes and issued a warranty replacement. These supports in the first batch of Rapid were too soft, so they could not withstand our roads. Now only modernized units with a large resource are being installed.

In addition to the driver's comments, the "voice" of the car itself is also taken into account. By connecting a Bluetooth adapter to the OBD connector, the master connects to the on-board system and checks its memory for errors. If everything is in order, as is the case with our car, then the memory is reset.

The carbon filter of the cabin, installed on the conveyor, in our operating conditions, by 30 thousand kilometers, was already pretty clogged. It is better to change it more often.

By 30,000 km, our Rapid demanded, in addition to regular maintenance, the replacement of only one warranty part. The cost of TO-2 was UAH 2206.68. Considering that this price includes, in addition to 5 liters of oil, also 4 filters plus work on their replacement, this is a completely normal amount for the operation of a high-tech and mega-practical liftback.
