Nissan - Terrano, TD27T, AT, 1991.

This is my third review of my car. During the operation, my mileage on it was already more than 100 thousand km, total 245 thousand. The kilometers traveled became proof of the reliability, tolerance and unpretentiousness of Terrano in 21 bodies. Let's consider it in more detail:
Engine:
Many kind words were said about the "perpetual motion machine" TD27T, which covered all the specified kilometers without fail, without requiring any extra costs. Only an oil change after 5000 km and a filter after 10000, which I did. I have never checked the compression and oil pressure, because I learned: “the best is the enemy of the good!”. It starts up well at any time (just so that the start is when the glow plugs are as hot as possible), pulls on forces (100 l / s, 93 l / s in PTS), sapit barely. I brought the breather pipe down when I was servicing the engine with the body removed (more on that later) so as not to clog the turbine - intake manifold - valves - sprayers - combustion chamber - turbine rotor, etc. The starter demanded attention to itself, was tricky about repairing the retractor for a long time, until one night he could not start, I had to wait for the morning, take it off (by the way, the jack extension miraculously went to the head for 14 to unscrew the lower screw) and sort it out on my knee. Later he gave it to the “specialists” of the company AVTOPROMGRUP, who took it away, returned it an hour later, saying that they had replaced the retractor, bearings, bendix, brush assembly and wanted 5250 rubles. I gave the money to them, and recently I almost went to pick it up. There was a chatter in the area of the bell, it is good that the comrade insisted: “let's see what’s the matter?”. It turned out that of the three screws securing the bendix, one unscrewed and fell out, and two had already gathered behind it. If the Bendix fell off in motion, I don't know how it would have ended, but I think something VERY sad. We put everything in place on the thread lock, their mother so that I think their ears are still burning. I replaced the engine mountings (11220-35G00 (l), 11210-43G00 (p)) with RBI products, one (left) was barely stuck in, I had to file my ear, nothing changed after the replacement (such as vibration, etc.), but one was old with a torn off metal top, the other was good.
Summary: This is how it turns out, when everything is "gut", then there is nothing special to say. Engine rating 5 with pluses to infinity.
Automatic transmission:
A marvel of engineering, with a processor adaptable to the driving style, modes for winter and "sports", in terms of reliability, the exact opposite of an engine. Pleases after a high-quality overhaul, but not very long (about 20 to 100 thousand km). It is very much studied by normal servicemen, there is even the possibility of its upgrade for more difficult operating conditions. When treated as a consumable with a cost of about $ 600-1500 (depending on the replacement with a contract or overhaul of the existing one), it does not cause major frustration. It is imperative to mention the throttle position sensor (TPS), the original number Zexel who needs (146683-4910) for a diesel engine (6 wires), costs 4500-6000 rubles, from time to time it wears out and requires replacement and adjustment, affects gear shifting and recirculation system (EGR). I will not dwell in detail, frayed to holes in all Terrano forums. I sometimes lose the first one, then I either turn it on with the selector, or even turn on HOLD and calmly drive without the first gear. I am glad that in my box there is no push from the first to the second and further too.
Body:
Begins to suffer from corrosion by about 12 years of age. Timely maintenance and anticorrosive treatment can reduce the risk of perforating corrosion to a minimum or even to zero, but then all dubious places must be immediately processed, and professionally (it is better with specially trained people or Kulibins by nature and with equipment). You need to look at all the joints of the body elements, because it is there that cracks are formed with all the ensuing consequences. Therefore, I advise you to carefully study what parts it is assembled from, then it will be easier to localize rust. Help with this can also be provided by the spare parts catalog for 21 bodies, I bought on this site. In general, I strongly advise those who are looking for and doing something themselves to get one. And for those who have it, I put the letters ENG instead of JPN in the NSFASTKY.ini file, something became English, for example, the name of the spare parts groups.
Frame:
It suffers too, especially the back and especially the left side. I think the muffler plays a role here. Here I will dwell in more detail, tk. in August of this year, he arranged a major overhaul. Looking sadly at the red spots and even holes, he began to develop plans to bring the frame into proper shape and condition. I decided on the time, place, necessary means and with the help of real friends, we started…. What am I? Her, it was like this: Instead of sleeping peacefully at 00-00, on vacation I started thinking: “I ought to look if the water got under the floor when I forced a puddle with a depth of almost the door (about half a meter in relative marks) ? " I got up, got dressed, and went to the parking lot (covered) to the car. To begin with, he took off the linings and wrapped the passenger's floor cover - it is, it’s wet! This is how it began. Towards morning, the car had one driver's seat, the rest of the seats, floorboards, expanders and all attachments were removed and placed in the corners until the moment of assembly. And with the help of real friends, as I already wrote, but I just have to mention them in order to express my deep gratitude to them, a process called:
Corrosion control:
In order to disassemble the Nissan Terrano, you will need a 12, 14, 17 wrench and a Phillips screwdriver from the tool. This set does the bulk of the work. Of course, some manipulations will require pliers, a knife or a slotted screwdriver, and of course, you will need a HAMMER. It was he, weighing 250, maximum 400 grams, but not a sledgehammer. One more thing that is indispensable for plumbing work is also known to everyone - WD40.
The beginning of work consists in turning off the "mass" (well, everyone knows that), studying what connects the body and frame. Then chopiks for the pipes are selected (stock up on caps for the pumping fittings), electrical tape (I took a white one and wrote notes on it with a pen for subsequent assembly), trays for draining liquids. Everything is disconnected, wound up and shut up, signed if necessary (preferably but not necessary), the engine radiator is removed, I also removed the doors, which in principle is easy, but subject to freely removable hinge fingers (this topic will be below). We are preparing a place for the body, where we will place it. I did it in the open air, so I got by with old tires (pictures of almost all the work are posted on the website in the Photo Album) and a couple of props. Plug or wind up the kondeya hoses at once, preventing moisture from getting inside, pay attention to the presence of rubber rings. There is some kind of confusion with them in the catalog, in fact, the indicated (92475-W2100) near the condenser stood up to the partition, and the second did not fit at all (92473-N8200). The rest of the process is in the comments to the photo, so I won't repeat myself here.
After two weeks of hard work, the frame took on a completely different look and condition. Holes in it were mostly welded, except for the bottom ones, the rest are waiting for ordinary rubber plugs (something about 30 pieces!). In the heat of the moment, however, a couple of the necessary holes were also eliminated, but this is fixable. At the same time, work on the body was going on: cleaning, priming, installing patches and amplifiers at the joints of body elements. We identified the three most neglected places: the joint of the left threshold with the wing, in the same place, but from the side of the arch, and the left mudguard under the hood. All of this was repaired with rivet patches. After that, the entire bottom was covered with mastic in several layers. The footboards were also disassembled, the tubular frame was digested, reinforced, primed and treated with mastic.
On the engine, while there is a possibility of unhindered access, I replaced belts and supports. He took off the intake manifold, washed it off soot, threw out the USR, put the plug in its place. The outlet from the breather was brought out with a hose under the motor. We replaced the corrugation, scalded the muffler while it was removed.
Unfortunately, the completion of the work coincided with the end of the vacation, so the pace of work had to be increased further. When assembling, there were no special problems; in time it is better to have at least a week in stock in order to carry out noise insulation, dry cleaning of coatings, etc. along the way. When assembling, I looked at the state of the door hinges. Five fingers are subject to replacement due to the fact that they began to turn in the mating part of the hinges. I did not find any wear on either the fingers (80406-V5002) or the bushings (80410-01G00). But already at home there are new original ones, there will be time, I will replace them. We pumped the brakes, fuel, replaced the antifreeze, refilled the liquid where it was required, connected the "mass" - start! The engine started half-kick and quietly thrashed at idle. They collected things, tools, materials, threw them into the car, sat down to drive - but she couldn't. Troit, smokes, stalls. Only four hours later I found the reason - of the two gags that were used to plug the turbine, one remained in place. But, thank God, he was hammered tightly, and did not budge anywhere. He took it out, gassed it, put the pipes back in place and - go ahead! When refueling the air conditioner, in addition to the refrigerant, indicator paint was poured, now the leaks will be visible in the light of the ultraviolet lamp, work + materials = 2300 rubles. For information, the 12th gas was charged in the amount of 900 grams. After assembly, I made soundproofing in the front of the passenger compartment with vibroplast, at the same time a measure to protect against leaked water.
During the period between the second and this review, I replaced the cuffs and anthers in all calipers, making them revision at the same time. A repair kit (41120-AG025) for front calipers costs about $ 40. I didn't find the rear one, but the rubber bands were enough for me and so, I left some of them old, in excellent condition. I fixed the problematic point of the suspension - the compression rod fastening to the frame. To do this, we turned new washers to fit the rubber bands (54476-01W00), cut down the old ones, leveled the hole in the frame with a round file and assembled the new washers by welding. By the way, the original rubber bands differ from the Hanse, which have one more small collar. I made a tank out of a 50-liter canister, nailing an oil tap to it on rivets and using a hose, a fine filter and a rubber plug for the Zhiguli speedometer. Connects to the teat at the top of the tank instead of the steam wand. So if you fill up in full (130 liters), then first it sucks out of the canister (the fuel indicator pleases the eye for a long time), and then the main tank goes into action. Another filter, glued on superglue into a plastic stopper, acts as a breather. By connecting a pump to it, you can pump fuel into the tank when the canister is below the level of the tank (in short, it is on the ground), which I did a couple of times. You just need to watch so that it doesn't burst, otherwise it inflates like a ball. And the hose is thin, it takes a lot of time, but you don't spill a drop, there is no smell, a big plus. Problems with the mirrors began, in some places the amalgam went away, friends found in Novosib (5,000 rubles a pair, a new 6,000 rubles one), but it was not possible to buy. So while I drive like this. Last winter, he turned around in the garden, bumped into metal trestles sideways, scratched the footboard and a little door (to the primer). If it weren't for the step, there wouldn't be a door, or anything else. For a long time I could not bother with the motor on the rear window, until I removed the tank and filled it with anti-scale, then I cleaned it with a brush. The problem is gone. Apparently clogs clogged the channel, which is at the very bottom of the tank. The rear wiper stopped returning to its place, removed the trapeze, cleaned it from rust and lubricated the axle - it worked. The rubber bands of the door end switches cracked, replaced them with a new original (25368-6P000). I also want to replace the windshield, bought a seal (G2716-89902), molding (72752-01G00), but I don’t know, there were other expenses. With a film seal, it costs 500 rubles, and in a box with the inscription Nissan lies several meters of foam rubber seal on a self-adhesive, which costs a penny in "Maxidom". Although the original consists of two layers: the lower one is more dense, the upper one is softer. The back door falls on my head in the cold, I use a stand, does not particularly torment.
In general, this car will delight a person who does something in cars himself, drives one car all year round in all directions, carries a box with a tool in the trunk, a can with a good solarium, a changer for 10 MP3 discs (for long-distance roads), and in the torn-out salon of people dear to him. The outside is not often clean. This description will surely fit most Nissan and Terrano and Patrol owners. True, the latter are still prone to conquering lost places :-)

The Japanese Nissan Terrano is a crossover-twin of the French-Romanian Renault Duster, produced in Moscow at the Avtoframos plant since 2014.

1st Generation (1986 - 1995 release)

ATTENTION! Found a completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also did not believe until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

In 1986, the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan Motor CO. Ltd, one of the largest in the world, has launched the first generation Nissan Terrano in the back of the WD21. The SUV was sold in many European countries, Japan, the USA and several other countries. Initially, the model was created with three doors, had a frame structure and a rigid drive, but over time it was significantly improved.

Already in 1991, a new model "Terrano" was released, which had 5 doors. This model had a 2.7-liter (100 horsepower) engine, a V6 3.0 gasoline engine with 155 horsepower. The gearboxes were both mechanical and automatic, as well as four-speed.

The most interesting is the fact that the length of the three-door and five-door models was exactly the same and amounted to 2.65 meters, technically they also did not differ in any way.

Engines of 5 models were installed on the 1st generation Nissan Terrano cars: VG30E, TD27, TD27T, Z24i, VG30I.

Generation 2 (1996-2004)

"Terrano" of the second generation or Terrano II went on sale in 1993. This model was developed in cooperation with the company "Ford" in Spain (Barcelona), along with its "twin brother" - Ford Maverick.

The improved model has a number of its advantages over its ancestors: a load-bearing body instead of a frame, a spacious, comfortable interior in which there is a lot of light due to large glass windows, an affordable price, high sound insulation and a reliable five-speed manual transmission.

"Terrano" of the second generation was produced in two versions: turbodiesel (2.7, 3.0, 3.2 with a capacity of 130 to 170 hp) and gasoline injection (3.3 liters with a capacity of 170 hp).

The third generation of the well-known crossover "Nissan Terrano" originates in 2013. This crossover has the most reasonable price of the entire line of models produced by Nissan.

The engines of 5 models were installed on these cars: ZD30DDTi, VG33E, TD27ETi, QD32ETi, VG33E.

Car dimensions:

  1. Length - 4.34 m.
  2. Width - 1.9 m. (With rear-view mirrors 2 m.)
  3. Height - 1.67 m.
  4. The wheelbase is 2.67 m.
  5. Weight - 1.73 kg.

3rd generation

The improved model, introduced in 2014 and being improved to the present, is equipped with front and all-wheel drive, as well as 1.6 (114 hp) and 2.0 liters (143 hp) petrol engines. A car with a 1.6-liter engine is available only with a manual gearbox with front / all-wheel drive, while a two-liter car is available with both an manual gearbox and an automatic gearbox.

This model has practically become a twin brother of Renault Duster, if not for their differences in appearance, a certain set of options and cost. Terrano has excellent qualities: affordable price, unpretentiousness, excellent road and off-road capabilities, combined with an expensive and pleasant appearance.

Differences between Nissan Terrano and Reno Duster

  1. Terrano's cost is higher than Duster's;
  2. Larger set of options;
  3. Door panels of various shapes;
  4. Large taillights;
  5. Average acceleration time for Duster -10.3, Terrano - 11.5 seconds;
  6. Duster "eats" less fuel, on average - 7.8, Terrano - 8.7;
  7. Duster can be bought with a 1.5-liter turbodiesel engine with a capacity of 110 hp;
  8. The front end of the Terrano has a raised hood with two stiffening ribs;
  9. The grille and bumper are similar in style to the Nissan X-Trail;
  10. Terrano, unlike its counterpart, is made of higher quality and more expensive materials.

Engine selection

The top engine for "Nissan Terrano" was a 4-cylinder power unit with a volume of 2.0 liters. This internal combustion engine meets all European standards, is distinguished by a distributed fuel injection system and the ability to provide 135 hp of power. It is equipped with a 16-valve DOHS timing belt. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km per hour does not exceed 11 seconds. The maximum speed is 180 km / h. The gasoline consumption in the front-wheel drive model is 8.5 liters, in contrast to the all-wheel drive model, the consumption of which is 7.8 liters.

  • Fuel consumption in the city is 5-7 liters, on the highway - 4-6 liters.
  • Poor off-road permeability.
  • Fuel consumption in the city - 7-8 liters, on the highway - 5-6 liters
  • Good off-road capability and in winter
  • Good cross-country ability
  • Fuel consumption in the city - 8-10 liters, on the highway - 5-6 liters,
