This third “golf”, produced in 1993, appeared in Daniil’s family in 2010. We bought it from a car repossessor when we were looking for a first car for my wife - the car was seized from some Lithuanian for smuggling. " At first I looked at the first model Lada there, but they noticed next to Golf– it had air conditioning and gas equipment. It cost $2,300, we didn’t plan on spending that amount on a car - we took out a loan and never regretted it".

On his third golf car, Daniil traveled all over Europe and reached Spain.

Since then, the owner of the third "golf" has been trying to be proactive: " Something knocked or made noise - I immediately figure it out and fix it". And, he says, he doesn’t know any problems with the car.























Volkswagen Golf IV and Artem


Golf IV was produced from 1997 to 2004 - just over 4 million cars. Compared to previous generation it became longer by 131 mm, wider by 30 mm, and the wheelbase increased by 39 mm. The fourth Golf from the outside is difficult to distinguish from the third from afar, but inside it has changed very seriously. ESP debuted here, an all-wheel drive version with a VR6 engine (204 hp) and a Haldex viscous coupling in the transmission appeared, the first engine with direct injection, side airbags...

Accessories are also not easy: you can’t even find a GTI nameplate, or they ask for crazy money - about 100 dollars, a branded Recaro GTI seat cover - 600 dollars".

Despite everything, Artem is simply in love with his car. At some point, he admits, he thought about selling, exchanging, maybe for something more serious - but " I look at today’s prices on the market and understand that for this money there is nothing better than my “golf”. And I won’t give mine away for nothing".



























Volkswagen Golf V and Dmitry


The Golf V was first shown in October 2003 on Frankfurt Motor Show, it is created on the platform Volkswagen Group A5 (PQ35). The fifth Golf has become larger: longer by 57 mm, wider by 24 mm and higher by 39 mm, trunk volume has increased to 347 liters. Volkswagen Golf VI and Alexey


Golf VI was created on the same platform as the previous generation car - the Volkswagen Group A5 (PQ35) platform, and for this generation it was quickly nicknamed “five and a half”, they say, nothing new. The car was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008.

At first, the Golf VI was produced in 3- and 5-door hatchback body styles, later they were joined by a station wagon and a compact van. Golf Plus. In 2011, a convertible appeared.

For the first time, this Golf was equipped with such a “favorite” DSG box- 6-speed with wet clutch and 7-speed with dry.

Volkswagen Golf VII and Tatyana

When they talk about the seventh “golf”, they immediately remember the modular Volkswagen platform Group MQB: previously, several types of cars were produced on one platform - Golf, Touran, Golf Plus, but now there are several modules, and such a system will be used in general on all cars of the concern. For example, the Passat B 8 is practically the spitting image of the Golf VII from an engineering point of view.


The owner purchased a Golf VII with a 1.4 TSI engine and a manual transmission from a dealer in September 2013. This car was not the only option - it took a long time to choose between cars of similar price and configuration.

- They say you can’t compare men, but you can and even need to compare cars before buying them, - the owner laughs. She looked at the Audi A3 Sportback, Toyota Camry and Avensis, Skoda Octavia and Yeti. " I used to have a VW Golf Plus. But Volkswagen is not the car that I saw - and immediately “wow!". Here is the Audi A3, in my opinion, very beautiful - headlights, radiator grille... But you get behind the wheel and something is missing. The design of the front console is strange, the air duct deflectors are round, the radio is not well thought out... I liked the Skoda, but the rear visibility was not enough. But I got into the Golf and drove around - I couldn’t hear the engine running, it was comfortable, everything was at hand, everything was “my own”. And that’s exactly how it feels: “wow!”

Tatyana is satisfied with the operating and maintenance costs: " It eats about 6 liters per hundred on average with the stated 6.8 liters, the first scheduled maintenance cost me 800 thousand.".

- Sportiness, efficiency, elegance - everything that I need, that emphasizes me. Everything I wanted. It’s unlikely that anyone will be able to say anything bad about the seventh “golf”.




























Changing Golf to Golf
