Nissan Terrano - reviews. Nissan Terrano under the hood

The word “crossover” itself means “intersection, mixing” in English. The first crossover appeared in the early 80s, in America.

A crossover is a hybrid of an SUV and passenger car. Lightness and beautiful dynamic characteristics took it from a car. But from the SUV he got all-wheel drive equipment, high ground clearance and body type.
One of the most prominent representatives Japanese crossovers are considered small all-wheel driveNissan Qushqai, Nissan MuranoAndX- Trail. Such cars have a number of advantages over other cars, and these advantages are rightfully appreciated by Russians.

Plus, they cost less than SUVs. The demand for them is only increasing every year. This is understandable. For a small amount, you have the opportunity to have all-wheel drive with the manners of an SUV and the character of a passenger car. Now there are traffic jams everywhere, endless renovation work not so scary for all-wheel drive. Crossovers can easily overcome curbs, fences and various obstacles in their path. Don’t forget that we still have nine months of winter, and it’s quite severe. Where passenger cars stall, four-wheel drive vehicles will have no difficulty getting out of a snowdrift or snow trap.

The Japanese manufacturer decided that since crossovers are so in demand, everyone should have the opportunity to purchase them. Without thinking twice, the concern released another crossover, but at a more affordable price.

Let's meetNissan Terrano. The model has already been officially presented on the Russian market. And you can even reserve the model with the required configuration. If you are really interested in the new product and can’t wait to evaluate its capabilities, then go ahead at any time. dealership, where will you see the model live? Touch it, feel it. But, unfortunately, it will be possible to take a test drive later, after the SUV is officially presented.

It would seem that the company already has enough crossovers in its model line: for every taste and budget. But it turns out thatTerranowas necessary.
The company's marketers position the new product as the most affordable model line crossoversNissan. Price basic version Terranostarts from 677,000 rubles.

Dairy brotherhood

Standardization, unification, badge engineering and similar buzzwords - in the market, as in war, all means are good in achieving the goal. This is how cars are born different brands, between which there are much fewer differences than similarities.

This is not to say that Nissan was in dire need of a fundamentally new compact crossover. After all, it would certainly be possible to extend the life of the first-generation Qashqai, leaving it in the clip along with new car- Some companies do just that. Well, many buyers would just say thank you! However, those at the top decided to do things differently.

So, meet: new Terrano! As you might guess, this car has nothing in common with the strong frame that lived and lived long before the appearance of the Qashqai and Juke. And don't be fooled by the warlike Pathfinder-style "face" and bloated wheel arches, covering big wheels. There is no hint of intrigue here: no makeup can hide the true origin of the “Japanese” crossover, which premiered in India last September and ended up in Russia this summer. Yes, this is the Renault Duster familiar to all of us - a Romanian “French” assembled in Russia. Only, of course, more expensive.

Which choice?

PRICING POLICY HINTS: DUSTER - FOR THE PEOPLE, TERRANO - FOR THE SELECTED

Overpayment with restrictions

If you open the price list and look at the price of the basic version, you will see that Terrano is almost a third more expensive than Duster. Why suddenly? It's simple. Most Dusters are sold in the optimal version 2.0 MT 4WD, which costs less than 700 thousand rubles. The two-liter Qashqai only starts at 910 thousand. And Terrano fits very well into this price gap.

As justification, the basic equipment of the Nissan was made noticeably richer than that of the Renault: an air conditioner, an audio system and a pair of electric windows are already present in the most affordable Comfort version - as well as roof rails along with bumpers painted in body color. And yet it’s difficult to recognize such a crossover as optimal. whole line shortcomings.

For example, any necessary modern car Electric drive and heated mirrors, as well as an on-board computer and heated seats are not included in the basic Nissan at all. More importantly, Comfort defaults to a modest 1.6-liter engine. More powerful power unit pulls an automatic transmission - the minimum price of such a kit increases to 762,700 rubles. And with a 2-liter engine and all-wheel drive Terrano in Comfort configuration doesn't exist at all. Buying such a car makes no sense: for those who want to save money at all costs, it makes sense to take the Duster Expression, which is at least 70 thousand cheaper with similar equipment.

Choosing the optimum

The optimal Terrano, in our opinion, is a modification with a 2-liter engine and all-wheel drive transmission in the Elegance package for 815 thousand rubles. Quartet of pillows, system dynamic stabilization and a third headrest on the rear sofa guarantee proper safety, and in terms of ergonomics, such a crossover looks preferable: the driver’s seat has a height adjustment, and the rear-view mirrors are electrically adjustable.

It’s only a pity that the Terrano 2.0 4WD can only be equipped with a manual transmission: unlike the same Duster, an automatic transmission cannot be added to it - but it’s more prestigious car it would be very useful! However, one must assume that the appearance of such a modification is a matter of time: after all, Renault did not immediately have it either.

The surcharge for the third Elegance Plus package does not seem exorbitant (RUB 34,000), although it does not contain any truly important additions: light alloy wheels, yes rear parking sensors. By and large, it’s quite possible to do without leather on the steering wheel, electric rear windows and tinting.

And finally, the top version of Tekna should attract those who value availability leather interior and the Nissan Connect multimedia system with a rear view camera. Such a car is 70 thousand rubles more expensive than the optimal one, and the final price tag of 900 thousand looks like a clear overkill.

The palette of body colors, alas, looks quite modest: free white acrylic plus five metallics for an additional payment of 9 thousand rubles. There is something to marvel at here: for a Duster, metallic will cost a thousand more!

Outside and inside

PLASTIC SURGERY IS NOT CHEAP PLEASURE

Design and only

As befits a crossover, Terrano looks more solid and larger than many passenger cars. From the front, the car stylistically echoes the older ones Nissan SUVs and therefore quite convincingly creates the impression of more expensive car, than Duster.

It is gratifying that the design refinements in no way affected the practicality of the car: the crossover has good geometric cross-country ability and standard steel crankcase protection. True, the Terrano also inherited its shortcomings from Renault: these are creaking door handles and sidewalls, which are instantly covered in dirt; and mirrors that fold with a bang, and a decent-sized gap between the hood and the windshield.

Inside, the “Japanese” is not much different from the “French”: it has its own air duct deflectors on the center console, an improved audio system, a small hiding place above the front panel and a steering wheel with a different hub - that’s all the differences. It won't be enough!

Bad heredity

But an abundance of hard, scratchy plastic, uncovered screw heads, bare metal on the trunk lid and under the floor of the sofa seat, as well as shallow cup holders that refuse to securely hold any container - all these are generic characteristics of cars based on the unpretentious first-generation Logan. Need I say that the new model, for which they are asking quite a lot of money, is not at all decorated with such “moles”?

The Nissan Connect multimedia system, which was once developed for the Note, today looks outdated: the performance of the system and the size of the display leave much to be desired.

However, such little things can be forgiven if you open the huge trunk. There are no inconvenient protruding elements or meaningless nooks and crannies, but there is room for a couple of quite successful niches. And if you fold the back of the sofa, the Terrano easily turns into a van with a volume of more than one and a half cubic meters.

It’s just a pity that the engineers didn’t bother to equip the car with a normal trunk curtain: you’ll have to put up with a “curtain” made of unsightly leatherette attached to two plastic sticks, which periodically flies out of the fastenings in the upholstery.

Behind the wheel

EXTREMELY PECULIAR ERGONOMICS IMPLY A LONG PROCESS OF acclimation to the machine

The habit was given to us from above

Among SUVs and Nissan crossovers there is no car with such specific ergonomics as the Terrano. However, this is not surprising - the car was designed, as you know, by French engineers, who have their own ideas about how the interior should be equipped. There is something to praise them for: first of all, attention is drawn to the “commander” seating position, which allows a person two meters tall to sit behind the wheel and also provides good forward visibility.

However, if you look into the details, then there are more than enough reasons to criticize the internal world of the car. There is no adjustment of the steering column for reach, and the front seats with short cushions seem too flat, and the lateral support of the backrests leaves much to be desired - it practically does not work in fast turns. Adjustment driver's seat the height is terribly implemented: in order to lift it, you have to jump, holding onto the steering wheel. Why all these difficulties, pray tell?

You'll also have to get used to the lack of an armrest between the front seats - it's not even in the accessories catalog. For a car where the driver sits high, the absence of such an element is especially noticeable. However, do not despair: any Renault dealer will be happy to offer you an armrest from Duster that will fit perfectly into the interior.

To understand and to forgive

The Terrano also has inexplicable shortcomings that you just have to understand and forgive: it’s hidden under the lever parking brake joystick for adjusting mirrors and seat heating buttons, which are nestled in narrow gaps between the seat cushions and door trim.

I must say, it’s generally difficult to relax while driving a Terrano. The gearbox lever has to be operated in a sweeping manner, because the strokes are very large. The clutch pedal is a bit stiff and not very informative - fortunately, at least the automatic version does not require unnecessary manipulations. But even here the designers managed to screw it up: the picture depicting the box’s operating modes is positioned in such a way that it is not immediately possible to determine which of them is currently turned on.

The safety of the Terrano can be judged by the results of the Duster tests. True, the crossover has no reason to be proud: EuroNCAP experts rated the car a C grade. It’s good that the anchorages for child seats are Isofix standard and the front airbag can be switched off with passenger side available on all versions without exception.

On and off roads

TWO LITERS IS THE MOST PERFECT FOR ASPHALT AND BEYOND

Is it worth saving on a motor?

From base engine 1.6 should not be expected to be particularly fast. And yet, it should be noted that this engine spins up without effort, and at high speeds it gives a slightly noticeable pickup. If you choose a modification with all-wheel drive, you will receive a box with six short-cut gears, where the first stage takes on the role of a “lower”. Please also note that reverse gear here it’s common, so there’s plenty of traction when driving off-road in reverse the car is missing.

IN optimal configuration Elegance such a car costs 775 thousand rubles - it is suitable for those who are ready to sacrifice dynamics in favor of 4WD. However, most all-wheel drive crossovers are more expensive, so buying a Terrano like this may seem attractive. However, Duster is still more profitable: in version 1.6 4x4 LE Adventure it is more generously equipped, and costs only 690 thousand rubles.

A car with a 2-liter engine looks much more interesting: according to the passport, it does a hundred 100 mph 3 seconds faster - and the sensations fully confirm this. Longer gears - from third to sixth - allow you to easily maintain a cruising speed of 110–120 km/h without tormenting the engine with high revs. And in city traffic, Terrano 2.0 drives more confidently. Finally, automatic transmission can only be obtained with this engine.

All four wheels

By the way, it is the “two-pedal” Terrano that seems to be the most lively: the engine and transmission have complete mutual understanding. Unless on the highway you begin to regret that the ancient “automatic” has only four gears - a couple more steps would definitely not hurt the box. And so you have to put up with high flow rate fuel - on average 12–12.5 liters per 100 km. The “mechanical” modification has a similar appetite. As you can see, efficiency is clearly not the strong point of a crossover.

But the energy intensity of the suspension will certainly please many. The car is harsh only on small bumps, but it swallows large ones without the slightest hint of suspension breakdown. You just have to be more careful with speed - especially on the standard “all-season” Amtel Cruise 4x4. And I don’t want to praise the power steering: in a parking lot the steering wheel is too heavy, and with increasing speed it becomes lighter and loses its information content.

The all-wheel drive clutch lock (Lock mode) operates up to 80 km/h. Compared to the Qashqai, in which this mode is limited to a speed of 40 km/h, this gives a noticeable advantage: you can drive more confidently on slippery roads - the Terrano will row with all four wheels. The locked clutch works well in combination with ESP and when hanging diagonally, allowing you to continue driving even in seemingly hopeless situations. We must pay tribute, outside the asphalt, Nissan generally feels very at ease, which is not what you would expect from an inexpensive crossover.

Bottom line

Terrano fits well into the friendly Nissan family, however, compared to other crossovers Japanese brand it stands out not only for its moderate price, but also for its simple interior with very specific ergonomics. It could well be forgiven for these shortcomings, especially since the car has good cross-country ability and an energy-intensive suspension. However, while Duster is being sold in Russia, it will be extremely difficult for the newly made Terrano to attract the attention of a person who knows how to count money.

This is a Nissan Terrano! What does it have to do with Renault Duster? Spelled: Terrano!

Yes. This is Terrano. A car whose history is legendary and comes from the times of serious bearded men and “real jeeps”. Times have passed, “real jeeps” can only be counted on one hand, and bearded men have become respectable grandfathers. Quite young in spirit, cheerful, often no less bearded, but happy to play with their grandchildren. And with no less pleasure, remembering the past, going fishing to beautiful lakes with the younger generation.

Nothing is clear at all: where is Rome and where is Crimea! - the indignant reader will say.

So I quickly wrap up the lyrics. The modern Nissan Terrano is an almost exact brother of the famous and beloved Renault Duster. Now this is an ordinary crossover, with a good reliable suspension, designed specifically for countries like Russia, where there is winter for six months, and the rest of the year - bad roads. It differs slightly structurally - its main differences are in engines and gearboxes. Otherwise, it is practically the same spar car based on Renault Logan with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, organized through a self-locking clutch. In general, structurally this is an urban SUV. The aura and legend of the “real jeep” remain in it.

Unlike the Renault Duster, which was never able to acquire the reputation of a real SUV, which, in fact, is very logical, the Nissan Terrano with its whole appearance says: “I am a jeep.”

There are deliberately brutal straight lines, sharp transitions and combinations of planes and curves, and most importantly, the tough look of the flagship legendary Nissan Patrol. Therefore, not everyone will be able to identify the soft urban relative of the Renault Duaster in the Nissan Terrano.

Only from the side does a careful look recognize the familiar silhouette of the Nissan Terrano, but even here it is not so easy. Massive brutality erases the resemblance to the soft Frenchman.

From behind, in the Nissan Terrano, there is again the refrain of the Patrol, which with its massive headlights seems to say: “no city crossovers, I’m a good old jeep.”

And that’s why, when I just approached the car, it somehow immediately formed in my head: yes, this is it, grandpa's jeep! When we sat with three children in the back seat and the no longer bearded, but still very young and cheerful grandfather in front, the label stuck tightly to our Nissan Terrano. And I couldn’t get rid of him anymore.

Nissan Terrano inside

Inside, the Nissan Terrano fully corresponds to the spirit of those same “stern bearded men” and does not allow one to get rid of the “grandfather’s jeep” label.

Everything is deliberately tough, angular and even somewhat crude. Starting from the general appearance, ending with the finishing. Terrano seems to be saying: “I don’t need your frills and trinkets. I am a jeep."

The seats are moved towards the center from the doors, so the first feeling is that it is cramped. Too close to the neighbor's shoulder. Well, you understand - like in a “real jeep”. However, this leaves a lot of space at the door, which in case of an emergency means extra centimeters of life and health.

IN Nissan showroom Terrano does not have any super-design seams or specially grooved materials. Simple hard plastic, rough but durable stitching on the leather. Everything is very stern, masculine.

And there is even a greeting from the past world of multi-tiered dashboards, when airbags were unheard of - a shelf above the glove compartment.

Instrument room Nissan panel Terrano is also deliberately brutal and simple. A simple orange backlight of the on-board computer screen with numbers from the times of the first computers and icons, two analog dials and that’s it. Nothing extra.

The organization of space is simple and quite practical. The only noticeable drawback of the Nissan Terrano is the non-standard location of the mirror adjustment knob. This absolutely wonderful greeting from the design of the eighties is located near the handbrake. It took a long time to look for it - there are no extra marks on it. Everything is concise. For the initiated.

And even navigation multimedia Nissan system Connect: 5" with color touch screen Nissan Terrano is made in the same brutal style. Its presence distinguished the test copy of Terrano from its counterparts: such a “TV” is installed in the Tekna configuration and this thing costs 38 thousand rubles. It includes a CD / MP3 / FM / AM radio with Bluetooth support. Linear AUX audio input, input for connecting USB devices and iPod / iPhone. navigation system and a rear view camera.

The system is as simple as three kopecks, but overall convenient. It works well, the sound is not particularly fancy, but decent, the navigation is detailed and convenient. But the radio could be more powerful - from the ancient antenna sticking out on the roof, you subconsciously expect the capabilities of spy radio stations. But in fact, the capabilities of the radio are at the usual average level, and 50-70 kilometers from Moscow you will have to be content only with the local repertoire or listen to your own music.

The camera has a good grip and is very convenient, while it remains clean for a surprisingly long time, although otherwise the Nissan Terrano is a terrible dirty thing that will manage to get dirty at the first opportunity - dirt from under the arches immediately covers the sides and windows with an even gray layer.

The windshield of a Nissan Terrano also gets dirty immediately, so the driver should keep a large supply of anti-freeze in the trunk. The only good thing is that the wipers work well, and head optics gives very decent light.

However, before you drive your Nissan Terrano out into the night, it is better to look around the world for the neck of the washer fluid reservoir. In the dark, this can be an impossible task: the neck is located non-standardly, near the wiper arm under the windshield. In turn, the black lid seems to be specially made so that the enemy would not guess what it is.

Therefore, even here the Nissan Terrano seems to say: I am for the initiated. The rest of you, please don't worry.

Nissan Terrano rear

The rear space of the Nissan Terrano can be called successful and spacious, but there is a minimum of comfort here.

The side doors of the Nissan Terrano don't even have bottle pockets or even small pockets for napkins.

But the flat Nissan Terrano sofa allows you to easily place child seats and boosters that do not warp or interfere with each other. Oak leather is easily cleaned from traces of children's feet and is not scratched by boots. And even in cold weather, cleaning the interior is simple.

The only negative is the plastic stand in the center. It is flimsy, has little functionality and only gets in the way of your feet.

The seats in the Nissan Terrano fold easily, but do not form a flat floor. And this will sadden those who like to carry loads in the car. But when folding, it is not necessary to remove the headrests.

Well, fishing enthusiasts will regret the lack of a hatch for long vehicles - this would be a great help for “grandfather’s jeep”.

The trunk of the Nissan Terrano is spacious, the arches do not get in the way, the wide hatch and the flat entrance without sides are a balm for those who like to carry washing machines in your own car.

The design of the Nissan Terrano trunk is also simple; there are no extra shelves or compartments. Everything is just to the point. And again, everything here will say that this is “grandfather’s jeep.” A rigid protective screen, the wing of which has a rough edge and will get in the way every now and then, but everything will be reliably hidden.

Rough-practical-looking floor Nissan trunk The Terrano suddenly turns out to be soft, heavy, with entrails sticking out of the corners.

But under the trunk floor of the Nissan Terrano there is an impressive space and a full-fledged spare wheel. In general, everything seems to be functional. But very, very brutal, stern and laconic.

Nissan Terrano under the hood

Our test Nissan Terrano had a 2.0-liter F4R-coded 135-horsepower engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

There is no completely identical engine in the Renault Duster line, although the engines of both models are structurally similar. Among the operating features of this engine, it is worth mentioning that it has a belt drive of the gas distribution mechanism, and therefore requires a mandatory procedure for replacing the belt every 60,000 km, since in the event of a break, the valves are bent.

There are such cars with all-wheel drive and mono-wheel drive. The front suspension is the same in both versions, but the rear suspension is different. All-wheel drive Nissan Terranos have an independent multi-link spring suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers and a stabilizer. lateral stability. For the front-wheel drive version, the suspension is simpler - semi-independent spring with telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and a stabilizer.

In our Nissan case Terrano had all-wheel drive. It is completely identical to the Renault Duster - it is a clutch with possible forced blocking, which automatically engages rear-wheel drive depending on wheel rotation conditions. In summer you can go to front wheel drive, and if the weather turns bad, connect all-wheel drive. When you need to drive something more serious than poorly cleared snow on the roads, you can lock the clutch and try to feel like a “real jeep.”

Nissan Terrano on and off the road

On the road, the Nissan Terrano fully corresponds to the character of the “grandfather’s jeep”. Oaky, a little rolly, hard. The steering wheel is tight, but understandable.

Due to the short base and rigidity Nissan suspension The Terrano bounces along ruts and uneven surfaces, although the longitudinal motion is small. Even though you get used to it, the first feeling is that you are driving a good old jeep. Passengers feel like sacks of potatoes in the city and firewood on a dirt road, although in general they sit quite comfortably.

Sound insulation is rather weak, so you can hear all the reactions of the suspension to the road. They are not bad - nothing squishes from below and does not knock pitifully, even if you drive along a very rough road. The sounds please with their somewhat noble nature. But sometimes you really want silence, which is not here - delicacy in the Nissan Terrano is almost absent as a class.

The Nissan Terrano cannot boast of being particularly dynamic. There are six gears, and the lower gears are short. To get to sixty, you need to go through almost all of them. At the same time, both the pedals and the gear shift knob are deliberately masculine, without tenderness. Switch - so switch, press the pedal - so press.

However, in principle, it is quite possible to accelerate the Nissan Terrano, and if you get used to the logic of gear shifting, you can even begin to get some pleasure. The car handles well in traffic, making it easy to overtake and maneuver. And the short strokes of the first and second gears of the box turn out to be a plus beyond the asphalt - here you can even try to depict something like “lowering”. True, good maneuverability and small Nissan dimensions Terrano, combined with high ground clearance, in many cases allows you to simply go around an obstacle rather than storm it.

The fuel consumption of the Nissan Terrano with a 2-liter engine is far from the lowest, but generally acceptable. So, if you don’t get stuck in traffic jams when driving around the city, you can safely keep within 9.5 l/100 km in the winter season, when all-wheel drive works almost constantly. But the declared 7.0 l/100 km for the highway is only possible for quiet movement on front-wheel drive.

SUMMARY

Nissan Terrano is not selling a dream. He sells nostalgia. From a time when the grass was greener, the sky bluer, and Jeeps were “real.”

He has an aura of deliberate brutality and contempt for unnecessary little things. In some places this turns into outright inattention to the driver and passengers, but in general it does not exceed acceptable limits, if you do not expect a special attitude towards comfort from the car.

However, this is nostalgia in pure form. The modern Nissan Terrano is a good SUV, with a good engine and suspension, allowing you to realize small off-road weaknesses without any problems. These, of course, are not “those times,” but shake off the old days and introduce a little granddaughter or grandson to nature, and also introduce them to the idea of “real freedom on wheels” in a refined version, showing that grandfather was still wow, quite Maybe. In general, a real “grandfather’s jeep”, whose destiny is to be nostalgic, but to drive, and not to rot in the garage, because driving a “real” one in a modern city at some point becomes simply tiresome.

In August 2013, Nissan held a presentation of a new crossover with the revived Terrano name in the Indian city of Mumbai. As was expected, new car has become almost a complete analogue Renault models Duster ( Dacia Duster) with some modifications to the exterior, such as a different design of the front and rear parts body, as well as doors. It also differs from the Duster in its new interior design.

Production of the car started in India, which became the main market, and soon serial production of the new product was launched in Russia at the Moscow Avtoframos plant. Sales of the car began in April 2014. On Russian market Nissan Terrano is available in versions with 1.6 and 2.0 liter engines, with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, manual or automatic transmission gears and in four trim levels: Comfort, Elegance, Elegance Plus and Tekna.

IN basic configuration The Comfort car received air conditioning with a cabin filter, an MP3/CD audio system with 4 speakers, Bluetooth and a USB connector; central locking with remote control, immobilizer, electric front windows, black painted side moldings, roof rails and exterior mirror housings, 16-inch steel wheels with hubcaps. Terrano Elegance is additionally equipped with heated seats for the driver and front passenger, height adjustment of the driver's seat, on-board computer in the instrument panel, electric mirror adjustment and fog lights. It also offers off-road 16-inch steel wheels, body-color side moldings, silver roof rails and chrome front and rear bumper trim. The Elegance Plus version will offer a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear selector, electric rear windows, tinted rear windows, alloy wheels. IN top-end equipment Tekna includes leather seat trim, Nissan Connect multifunctional navigation system (5-inch display, navigation, AUX, USB, iPod/iPhone support), 16-inch alloy wheels.

Under Nissan hood Terrano can be installed in one of several options gasoline engines in combination with a 5-speed manual transmission (front-wheel drive versions), 6-speed manual transmission or automatic transmission. The engines differ both in volume (1.6 and 2.0 liters) and in power. For example, the 1.6-liter K4M engine initially installed on the car had an output of 102 hp, but since February 2016 it was replaced by a unit with improved dynamic performance, delivering maximum power 114 hp Accordingly, after two years of production, the two-liter 135-horsepower engine was replaced by a more powerful unit with an output of 143 hp, which is installed only on all-wheel drive versions.

Nissan Terrano has a front independent suspension McPherson, rear suspension at all-wheel drive versions is an independent multi-link design, and for front-wheel drive - a budget option with semi-independent torsion beam. The wheelbase of the car is 2674 mm. The minimum turning radius is 5.2 m. It is worth noting the high ground clearance - 205-210 mm, depending on the modification. IN standard equipment Terrano includes a full-size spare wheel, steel engine compartment protection, front and rear mudguards, an enlarged windshield washer reservoir (5 l), in addition, the engine is adapted to start in cold climates.

Security systems included in the Nissan Terrano include: programmable Automatic blocking doors when starting to move, driver and front passenger airbags, front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters, child seat belts ISOFIX mountings; anti-lock braking system ABS and dynamic stabilization system ESP (not installed on the 1.6 l 2WD manual transmission modification). For increased safety in the Elegance package, side airbags and a central headrest on the second row of seats are provided. Elegance Plus packages added rear sensors parking, and the Tekna version, as noted above, will offer a rear view camera.

If we ignore the differences in appearance, interior and set of options (as well as in cost), then technically the newcomer is practically no different from the Renault Duster, the “marketing” embodiment of which it has become, despite its big name. However, in fairness it is worth noting that it inherited from the Duster simplicity, unpretentiousness and good off-road capabilities, coupled with a pleasant bonus - in the form of a more solid and expensive appearance, and, of course, the Nissan nameplate along with the legendary name.
