Skoda Yeti - laughter doesn't live here anymore. Three main differences between the new Skoda Yeti and the previous generation of the model. How does a Yeti differ from an outdoor one?

The Skoda Yeti is often called a “funny” car - the headlights make the car a little “toy-like”. Apparently, it seemed so not only to us, but also to the Czechs themselves. That is why they decided to change the appearance of their crossover and give it several new options. The updated Yeti will reach us only in February next year, but "Auto Mail.Ru has already tested this machine.

The Skoda Yeti still lost one of its most recognizable features - unusual round headlights, which some people liked and others annoyed. As a result, the car immediately became more serious and... Boring? Perhaps yes. That is why Skoda designers made two versions of the updated Yeti at once. There is “just” Yeti with bumpers painted in body color, and there is an “off-road” version Yeti Outdoor. Although I’ll tell you a secret - there’s nothing off-road about it. Nothing at all. The ground clearance is exactly the same as it was, and no downshifts are provided. Moreover, Yeti Outdoor can be purchased with a single-axle drive and base motor volume 1.2 l.

So the main advantage of the Outdoor version is that it makes the appearance of the car more “masculine”. But you need to take into account that Yeti Outdoor will be a little more expensive than “just Yeti”. In Germany, the difference between the two modifications is 200 euros, and it will probably remain the same here. So everyone must decide for themselves whether the “off-road” model is worth such a surcharge or not.

What else has changed in the updated Yeti? Not too much: the finishing materials remain the same, the chairs are the same. But the steering wheel is new - a three-spoke steering wheel was installed on the Yeti before, but now it has taken on a slightly different shape. The main innovation (nowadays there’s nowhere without this word) was the appearance of a rear view camera. Skoda presents it as some kind of curiosity, but you and I know that similar cameras have long been installed on many budget models. However, big plus Skoda is that the camera here can be combined with an automatic parking attendant. The last “assistant” could be found on Yeti before, but restyled car received the second generation Automatic Parking Assistant. This means that the car can park itself both parallel and perpendicular. Moreover, Yeti can also leave the parking lot. In general, there are not too many chances to stupidly scratch the bumper here.

For residents of large cities the system automatic parking should like it. At speeds up to 40 km/h, it will find a parking space itself, and then almost nothing depends on the driver. He only needs to change gears at the request of the electronic mind and press the gas or brake. The steering wheel will turn by itself! Moreover, if the driver really relaxes, the electronics will also stop the car itself. How much the second generation Automatic Parking Assistant will cost has not yet been announced. But the first generation system on pre-restyling Yeti could be obtained for 37,300 rubles. And for cars with a 1.2 liter engine, Automatic Parking Assistant already cost 55 thousand, because the parking attendant also comes with a stabilization system

Yet the main advantage of the Yeti is not the parking system or even the new headlights. More importantly, Yeti is not trying to deceive us. Yes, the Audi Q3 is better. Not only that, but the Volkswagen Tiguan is better too. But that's okay - Yeti doesn't aim to be a champion and doesn't claim to be premium, period. Skoda knows its place. As a result, this model has frankly budget versions, which for some reason many manufacturers cynically ignore. It would seem that there is nothing simpler than equipping a crossover with a small engine, disabling all-wheel drive and not being shy about installing an automatic transmission along with the small engine.

The possibilities of transforming the interior of this small crossover, perhaps the best in class. Each seat in the second row can be adjusted individually, both in length and in backrest angle, and, if necessary, even removed from the cabin. Plus, you can order a folding front passenger seat (it costs 3,500 rubles), which will allow you to transport long items in the car

There is quite a lot of talk about this very automatic transmission - or rather, the dual-clutch DSG gearbox. And most often not very good ones. Those drivers who are unlucky say that the DSG can fail after 50-70 thousand kilometers. And these fears are not based on nothing. However, Skoda claims that the problems have now been resolved, and the reliability of the DSG has increased. Moreover, for all Volkswagen cars that have a DSG-7 with a dry clutch, the warranty on the clutch and mechatronics is now 5 years or 150,000 km (DSG-6 with a “wet” clutch, which on Yeti come with an engine of 1 .8 liter and 2.0 liter diesel engines initially have much fewer problems). However, if in the event of a breakdown, the diagnostic results require replacing the DSG assembly, then after 2 years of operation it will not be possible to do this for free. And it's very sad.

Frankly, I have always been very skeptical about version 1.2 + DSG. The volume is not serious, and the power is only 105 hp. But it’s not just that they say that horsepower They only sell cars and transport them in Newton meters. After all, the torque of the 1.2-liter turbo engine is very decent - 175 N∙m, and it is available already at 1500 rpm! For comparison, many naturally aspirated units with a volume of 1.6-1.8 liters produce less torque. Of course, on the German autobahn at 140-150 km/h this engine becomes downright heavy, and it starts to make quite a noise. But at speeds of up to 100 km/h, the Yeti 1.2 performs well with both manual and automatic transmissions. The main thing is to be aware that Yeti 1.2 is designed primarily for use in the city.

In Europe, the range of engines for Yeti is wide. In addition to those presented here gasoline units volumes of 1.2 l (105 hp), 1.4 l (122 hp) and 1.8 l. (152 hp or 160 hp), there are also several diesel engines. So, there is a 1.6 liter unit that produces 105 hp. It was used to create the Yeti GreenLine. Such machines no longer only have standard system start-stop, but also a braking energy recovery function, tires with reduced rolling resistance, ground clearance reduced by 25 mm and slightly different aerodynamics. Plus, the box has been changed gear ratios, and the engine speed has decreased idle move. As a result, the Yeti GreenLine with a 1.6-liter diesel engine spends only 4.6 liters of fuel per hundred. Besides, European Yeti are equipped with three versions of a 2.0-liter diesel engine: 110 hp, 140 hp. and even 170 hp. In Russia, only a 140-horsepower diesel engine is currently available, which can only be purchased with DSG gearbox and an all-wheel drive system (price - from 1,089,000 rubles). And the situation is unlikely to change after the updated cars enter the market (we remind you that this will happen in February next year)

And here new engine volume 1.4 l and power 122 hp. (and let’s not forget about the torque - 200 N∙m, which the engine produces in the range from 1500 to 4000 rpm) it behaves more pleasantly on the autobahn. It is 30 thousand rubles more expensive than the 1.2-liter unit (if we compare versions with DSG), but we advise you to pay extra. The Yeti 1.4 drives more confidently, at comparable speeds the engine runs at lower speeds (and therefore the cabin is quieter), and thanks to the additional horsepower and torque, it is simply more convenient to drive such a car. In general, it was the 1.4-liter engine that seemed to me to be the most optimal for Yeti in terms of price-power ratio (1.8-liter cars are even better, but they are no longer cheap). True, even after restyling, this unit will still have a drawback - it still cannot be purchased with an all-wheel drive system. The latter is available only with a 1.8 and 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine (you can learn more about the character of the Yeti 1.8 DSG 4×4 in the material “I am a robot!”).

One of the advantages of the Skoda Yeti is a large number of various drawers, and, for example, in the door pockets there are ropes for holding papers. Trifle? But it's nice. Plus, we note that the updated cars received a flashlight in the trunk. But why a USB port never appeared here, which has now become a common norm even among cheaper machines, is unclear (of course, you can use a special adapter, but you need to pay extra for it)

But let's be honest - although the Yeti is equipped with an all-wheel drive system, it is unlikely that any of the buyers of this car plan to drive it on serious off-road terrain. Although Yeti has something in stock. This is, first of all, the fifth generation Haldex coupling, which has become a little lighter and faster than the previous version. Plus, the electronics, as before, allow you to enable the Off Road mode, which makes off-road driving somewhat easier and is simply indispensable when descending a mountain. Of course, during the test of the updated Yeti, we were allowed to ride on a specially prepared track, where no one expected any surprises. But this route also made it clear that Yeti easily copes with diagonal hanging, is not afraid of descents and, when necessary, is able to pull the car out of the mud. But in general, it’s stupid to demand more from him. Although it is possible - you were able to verify this during your trip on the Yeti around Lake Baikal. Read more in the material “Baikal, shamans and Yeti”. Off Road mode is only available on all-wheel drive Yeti. After turning it on, the engine reacts less actively to pressing the gas pedal, traction control system comes into effect a little later, ABS allows the wheels to lock a little (this is useful when braking on sand or snow). Plus, the downhill assist system is activated, which itself controls the speed by braking the wheels.

Pricing for the Yeti has not yet been announced. However, there are doubts that they will change much compared to the version currently on sale. And Yeti costs in Russia today from 739 thousand for the version with 1.2 and mechanics and from 799 thousand for model with DSG. The equipment is not rich, but there is air conditioning, ABS, heated seats and a pair of airbags (and if we are talking about version 1.2 DSG, then there will also be ESP). A 1.4-liter car with DSG will cost 829 thousand, but you can’t buy an all-wheel drive car for less than 939,000 rubles (the engine will already have a volume of 1.8 liters). Yeti 1.8 4×4 + DSG - from 1,029,000 rub.

Yeti has plenty of competitors, especially in the all-wheel drive segment. For example, Kia Sportage with automatic transmission and all-wheel drive now costs from RUB 1,069,900, Ford Kuga with the same set - 1,079,000 rubles. A Suzuki New SX4 with all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission will cost 979 thousand (read more about this model in the material “Test of the Suzuki New SX4. It doesn’t get any newer”), and Nissan X-Trail with more serious off-road capabilities is now available from 989 thousand for the version with automatic transmission.

So it's no wonder that most in demand We use budget Yeti 1.2 with front-wheel drive and DSG. After all, such a car costs 799 thousand rubles, and, say, a new SX4 with automatic transmission cannot be bought for less than 879 thousand. A front-wheel drive Sportage with an automatic transmission, even taking into account the current discount, will cost at least 889,900 rubles (but the engine is already 2.0 liters). Mitsubishi ASX 1.8 with CVT - 830 thousand. True, the Nissan Qashqai is still cheaper - now the version with an automatic transmission can be bought for 784,000 rubles. Although it should be taken into account that the Japanese have already introduced the new generation Qashqai (though it will only reach Russia in the summer).

The 65th Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main was more reminiscent of Geneva. In previous years, manufacturers showed in Germany and France (automobile exhibitions in these countries alternate every year), mainly the most significant pre-production new products. This time, the pavilions were filled with various conceptual projects, while there were very few actual automobile premieres. Among the latest is the updated compact crossover Skoda Yeti.

By and large, it’s really difficult to call the 2013 Yeti a new generation car, since its design has hardly changed. But the Czech crossover now has two design lines - “urban”, Yeti, and “off-road”, Yeti Outdoor.

The first option has bumpers, sills and side moldings painted in body color, while the Skoda Yeti Outdoor has an unpainted hard plastic body kit - like on pre-restyling cars. The two new Yeti also differ in shape front bumper, and also fog lights - in the Skoda Yeti Outdoor these headlights are slightly wider.

Having acquired a new front part (radiator grille, bumper plus lighting equipment), the 2013 Yeti lost (in comparison with old cars) one of its key visual features is round fog lights not only distinguished Skoda crossovers from other cars, but also gave their appearance an off-road character. Now these headlights have become rectangular and narrow. Their location has also changed - the fog lights have moved to the bumper. When restyling the Yeti, Skoda designers used a new (characteristic of all model range company) design language - clearly defined boundaries, as well as an emphasis on horizontal lines. The influence of this language can also be seen in the rear of the car - symmetrically arranged triangular elements, typical of modern cars from the Czech manufacturer, have appeared on the cargo compartment doors.

The changes listed above in the Yeti's appearance are complemented by minor technical innovations. For example, the headlights can be ordered in a bi-xenon version with integrated LED running lights. Also available as an option tail lights with LEDs. And the fog lights can be equipped with a cornering light function.

If you really want to, you can find a few more minor differences from the pre-restyling cars in the exterior of the updated Czech crossover. We are talking about the hood and radiator grille with 17 vertical ribs, as well as the updated brand logo, which, moreover, is no longer integrated into the grille. Finally, Skoda Auto offers the Yeti an expanded palette of colors (including four new metallics) plus four design options for alloy wheels.

Otherwise, the Yeti is still the same childishly cute and even funny crossover, with the same dimensions and characteristic recognizable proportions, a high roofline, as well as continuous glazing with a single visible B-pillar.

As for the interior of the new Yeti, there are even fewer changes. Three-spoke steering wheel(same as the new Octavia) plus seventeen color combinations available for trim dashboard– this is where the whole list probably ends. True, with some degree of convention, it can be supplemented with Simply Clever-style solutions, which were not present in the previous crossover. Now in “Yeti”, in particular, there are: a box for reflective vest under driver's seat, a removable trash container in the door pocket, as well as a reversible mat and a removable LED flashlight in the luggage compartment.

Thus, the Skoda Yeti remained very comfortable car- with ergonomic, although somewhat harsh, seats, high-quality materials and carefully thought out containers for storing various small things. If we talk about transporting luggage, then the Czech car, apparently, has no equal at all.

At least the Skoda Yeti is more spacious than all its direct competitors. And the VarioFlex interior transformation system, reminiscent of Lego constructor for adults, allows you to work wonders. Despite the fact that it is not new and was used on a previous car, the system deserves to be reminded of it once again.

At the rear of the Yeti crossover there are three separate seats with adjustable backrests. This design makes the seats not only very comfortable, but also allows you to move them separately along the car.

In the normal seat position, which is designed to comfortably seat five people, the volume Skoda trunk Yeti is 405 l (at the sill line). If rear seats move forward and put their backs in a vertical position, the volume will increase to 510 liters.

When transporting long loads, the backrests of the rear seats can simply be placed on their cushions. As a result, the size of the cargo space will increase to 1580 liters. You can do the same with the front passenger seat. In addition, the design allows you to recline and fix each of the folded rear seats vertically, placing them close to the front seats.

In the end, all rear seats can simply be removed. Fastening the seats is simple, and the weight is very small. After such an operation the volume luggage compartment will increase to an incredible 1760 hp. If you remove only the middle seat, making the crossover a four-seater, then the remaining two can be moved not only along the car, but also across it.

As I already noted, VarioFlex is not new system. Thanks to this, future buyers of the new Yeti can ask today's owners of Czech crossovers about its advantages. This is quite easy to do. Since its launch in 2009, the Skoda Yeti has become one of the most... popular cars in the segment compact SUVs. In total, as of July 31, 2013, Skoda sold 268,300 Yeti units, and in the first seven months of this year, 46,900 cars were sold. At the same time, Skoda Yeti has won 46 national and international awards.

No matter what you call the Yeti - “new” or “updated”, there are still some changes in its design. For example, Skoda Auto engineers replaced the fourth-generation Haldex clutch in all-wheel drive versions of the crossover with a more efficient fifth-generation unit. The number of engine/gearbox combinations has increased, at least for European market. Here the Czech manufacturer offers a line of three gasoline and four diesel engines. All these units, of course, are equipped direct injection fuel and turbocharging.

The most modest Gas engine, 1.2 TSI, develops power of 105 hp. It is aggregated as with a 6-speed manual transmission gears and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In the first case, the front-wheel drive Yeti accelerates to 100 km/h in 11.4 seconds and consumes 6.0 liters of gasoline per 100 km. In the second option, the indicated parameters are respectively 11.7 seconds and 6.1 liters.

Next comes the 1.4 TSI engine with 122 hp, which is combined with a 6-speed manual transmission (GreenTEC modification) or a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The dynamics of these cars are exactly the same - 10.6 seconds to “hundreds”, and fuel consumption is respectively 6.4 and 6.6 liters per 100 km. It's probably worth remembering that the TEC package includes a start-stop system, a braking energy recovery system, and tires with reduced rolling resistance.

For the all-wheel drive version of the Skoda Yeti crossover, a single gasoline engine is offered, 1.8 TSI, the power of which is 152 hp. This engine is mated to 6-speed gearboxes – either manual or DSG. In the first case, the acceleration time to 100 km/h is 8.4 seconds, and in the second – 9.0 seconds. Fuel consumption is respectively 7.8 and 8 liters.

As for diesel engines, the issue of their supplies to Russia has not yet been resolved. But in Europe the picture is more than rosy. If gasoline power units(that is, combinations of engines and gearboxes) for the updated Skoda Yeti, the manufacturer offers six units, while diesel ones – as many as nine.

The most economical Czech crossover is the Yeti Green Line version. This front-wheel drive car is equipped with a 1.6 TDI diesel engine with a power of 105 hp and a 5-speed manual transmission. It consumes just 4.6 liters of diesel per 100 km and can accelerate to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds.

The Yeti 1.6 TDI GreenTEC crossover is equipped with a diesel engine of the same power, but with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and has very similar dynamics, 12.2 seconds, but higher consumption - 5.0 liters per 100 km.

The two-liter diesel 2.0 TDI, which is equipped with front-wheel drive Skoda Yeti, has two modifications - with a power of 110 hp. and 140 hp Both versions of the engine are equipped with a “mechanics”: the first with a five-speed gearbox, and the second with a six-speed gearbox. Of course, a 140-horsepower car (by the way, we are talking about a car with the TEC package) is much faster. It accelerates to 100 km/h in just 9.7 seconds, while its less powerful brother takes 11.6 seconds. But their consumption figures are exactly the same – 5.1 l/100 km.

The two aforementioned diesel engines are also offered for all-wheel drive Yeti, but in this case they are equipped only with 6-speed gearboxes. The 110-horsepower engine is equipped with only “mechanics”, and the 140-horsepower engine is equipped with both “mechanics” and DSG. Naturally, in 4 x 4 cars, compared to their front-wheel drive counterparts, fuel consumption is slightly increased and the dynamics are slightly worse.

The most powerful (170 hp) diesel 2.0 TDI is intended only for all-wheel drive crossovers. It is combined with the same gearboxes as the 140-horsepower engine. Thanks to such a powerful “heart”, the Yeti accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.4 – 8.6 seconds. But fuel consumption remains at a very acceptable level: 5.7 liters with a manual transmission, 6.3 liters with a dual-clutch transmission.

Let's hope that Russian consumers will get at least part of this diesel wealth.

Judging by preliminary information, the entire set power drives will be equally available for both the “urban” Yeti and the Yeti Outdoor. But still full confidence not yet. No detailed information and about the trim levels of the updated car - so far it is only known that four performance lines will appear: Active, Ambition, Elegance and, of course, Laurent & Klement.

But there is information that the new Yeti will be equipped not only with an automatic parking system, but also with an additional “optical parking assistant”, the camera of which is hidden in the handle back door. KESSY, a keyless entry and engine start system, will also appear on the Czech crossover.

There is not long to wait - sales of the restyled Yeti in Russia should begin in the first half of next year.

However, owners of first-generation Skoda crossovers are already ready to confirm that Yeti is the the rarest car, which has virtually no disadvantages. It combines original design with capacity and convenience, and excellent ride quality with excellent handling. The all-wheel drive crossover is good even on heavy surfaces, but the front-wheel drive Yeti also rushes briskly over bumps and potholes.

Maybe because the car is so successful, Skoda Auto specialists did not make serious changes to it?

We have worked hard and collected the most popular and objective test drives for you, and we will also present you with several video reviews of the new Czech Skoda car Yeti. The Skoda Yeti ranks first among all crossover cars among Czech automakers that were announced in 2009 at the motor show, which took place in Geneva (Switzerland).

Immediately in 2009, sales started in Ukraine and Russia. Already at the next world car exhibition in Frankfurt in Germany, automaker Skoda presented its customers with a new, updated version of the Skoda Yeti. The model was updated only on the exterior, which is mainly noticeable if you look at the front of the car.

Fog lights will now be located directly in the bumper itself, and the lighting equipment will be made of xenon and LED daytime running lights running lights. Future buyers will definitely be pleased a wide range of power devices. Skoda Yeti presented 4 diesel and 3 petrol models in its range.

For Russian car lovers, only one will be available diesel version car, which is equipped with all-wheel drive and a 2.0 engine. Power 140 horsepower, automatic transmission. The base engine of this car is a 105-horsepower 1.2-liter gasoline four with turbocharging. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic transmission. Skoda given series has many advantages that were officially confirmed during car test drives. The car in any of the trim levels is fully equipped with modern technology. Also, future buyers are captivated by a wide range of economical and powerful engines.

But many experts also noticed shortcomings in of this crossover from Skoda company.

One of the main disadvantages is that cars with gasoline engines are very sensitive to the quality of the fuel they fill. Another downside is that the rear levers are quite low.

Skoda Yeti has been familiar with large test drives for a very long time and continues to “closely communicate” to this day. The car was test driven for over 12 months. So what has changed in the car with its restyling? For the overall development of the Stillavin program, Sergey and his friend Vakhidov Rustam went to a factory that produces crystal products and visited a simulator of a regular passenger plane. We also found time to communicate with an old friend, Boryan.

Test drive Skoda Yeti 2016

More recently, Skoda began producing an updated version of the Yeti, a crossover type car. And this can only indicate that very soon we will be able to see this car on our roads. Pre-sales of the new Skoda Yeti started at the end of last year. That is why we are presenting to everyone a review and list of tests of the new Yeti.

Externally, the car remained virtually unchanged after all the renovation work was completed. One of those devices that has acquired a new type of steel: the latest LED optics and PTF, which have finally changed their non-standard eye-shaped round shape, and also moved an order of magnitude lower to the bottom of the car.

After making such changes to the appearance, the car managed to become more solid and serious. But many regret that there will no longer be such a cheerful baby Yeti. Probably, just such updates were made with the expectation that the car would begin to attract the attention of a more mature and intelligent buyer, in contrast to the previous version, which was more popular with girls and youth.

In general, the design of the Skoda Yeti has acquired a more modern look, and its improvements to the exterior have become the most successful changes in the entire history of the car, especially from the commercial side. Because the car looks like an Audi and a Volkswagen at the same time, it will definitely attract a lot of attention. It is worth noting that the Skoda Yeti has not lost its authenticity. Skoda plans to release the car in two versions: for off-road and city driving. In addition, the cars will differ in color options and their design solutions.

If we talk about internal changes car design, we can say with confidence that it has remained virtually unchanged. The new version of the car differs from its predecessor only in a couple of interior upholstery options, an improved steering wheel (which was taken from the brand new Skoda Octavia), as well as several decorative overlays.

The list of innovations also includes a keyless interior access system. To this day, the most valuable thing for the automaker Skoda remains the durability, quality and functionality of its cars. That is why no big changes can be expected in the Skoda Yeti. By the way, during the testing of the car, one serious drawback was identified, namely, when the driver’s seat is lowered to the lowest position, it is simply unrealistic to sit in it, there is no comfort. This could not even be positively influenced by excellent visibility coupled with the space above the driver’s head. It is this minus that makes the car uncomfortable for tall drivers.

Skoda Yeti has once again proven that it is the beautiful one. family car. A more distinctive feature is the presence of Vario Flex systems, which makes it possible for any in a convenient way transform the space in the cabin; the car also has a huge number of recesses for various small things. Safe car makes availability electronic systems and 9 airbags.

Technical part of Skoda Yeti

The technical part has changed: all-wheel drive and gearbox. The Skoda Yeti is equipped with all-wheel drive with a new, fifth generation Haldex clutch: it is smaller in size and more resistant to temperature changes. Skoda also officially announced improvements to the gearbox mechanics and software. Absolutely nothing has changed in the engine line, unlike the engine-transmission combination and vice versa. 1.2 TSI 105 horsepower, front-wheel drive system. The gearbox is either 6-speed or robotic with seven gears. 1.4 TSI 122 horsepower, front-wheel drive 7 speed robot. 1.8 TSI 152 horsepower, all-wheel drive, 6-gearbox robot. 2.0 TDI 140 horsepower, all-wheel drive, DSG-6.

Skoda Yeti test

To carry out T eat-drive Skoda Yeti over the restyled model, the choice fell on a 1.8 petrol engine, 160 horsepower, as well as all-wheel drive and 6-gearbox. Brothers in the shop, Octavia and Superb with the same engine behave perfectly on the road. I wonder how the restyled Skoda Yeti will prove itself.

The engine of the new car runs so silently that it is almost inaudible inside the car, except at a speed of 150 km/h or more. The engine responds quickly to pedal pressure, which makes its owners very happy. This car takes too long to gain speed, especially at low and medium speeds, but above 5000 rpm, the situation begins to improve a little.

It’s clear that comparing such different Skoda Yeti and Skoda Octavia are not possible mainly due to the difference in weight and aerodynamics. In principle, the feeling from this car is good. You can fully experience all the advantages of the new Skoda Yeti on the motorway at speeds above 130 km/h. Off-road you can feel all the charm of all-wheel drive. Fuel consumption during tests reached 15 liters per 100 km - this is a very good indicator.

Handling of the new Skoda Yeti

The new Skoda Yeti is a car that will be fun to drive not only for an adult, but also for a young girl who has just received a driver’s license. A considerable number of electrical systems will make your ride as easy as possible and make it comfortable. Even if the car goes into a skid, he will return to square one with lightning speed and move on.

Naturally, some disadvantages were also discovered. When turning, the car begins to “listen” very much, and also braking system could also be improved. The car's suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels will not allow you to miss any hole or stone, so it is much better to brake in time or, at a minimum, end up with “square” wheels. Of course, the Skoda Yeti doesn’t have many disadvantages, and besides, the tests were not carried out on the best roads in the world.

If we take the basic configuration with the 1.2 TSI engine, 77 kW for four cylinders is more 710 thousand rubles. IN this package includes: climate control, 4 airbags, stabilization system, ABS, electric mirrors, automatic windows for the first row of windows, etc. If you want to have a navigator or alarm system, then you will need to pay extra for this. The next option is OutDoor, the cost is over 710 thousand rubles. With 1.4 TSI 90 kW engine and front-wheel drive.

For both of the above presented configurations you can choose from suitable drive, be it front or full. You can also choose the engine you are interested in (7 variations). If you want your car to have a dual-clutch automatic transmission, you will need to pay extra.

In order to personally verify how the new Skoda Yeti behaves in tests, we provide you with an updated new Skoda Yeti 2017 video test drive. A pleasant surprise It was when the presentation of the new Skoda Yeti finally took place at an exhibition in Germany in Frankfurt. At this exhibition, the car attracted most of the audience, both auto critics and ordinary drivers, despite the large selection.

Our tests were carried out in order to analyze the stated technical and dynamic characteristics this car is a crossover type. In order for the results to be as honest as possible, we will take into account our photographs and videos, and also compare all this with the reviews of car enthusiasts, that is, yours.

There is no doubt that the first country after the Czech Republic in which the new Yeti appeared was Sweden. Selling Skoda Yeti launched late last year. Sales are expected in Russia, but prices are already known. The predecessors of this car became generally very successful in Russia, Ukraine and in many countries modern Europe. The first generation of the Skoda Yeti, as we remember, began production at the beginning of 2009. A few years later, the company analyzed all its mistakes and decided to correct them, highlight the advantages and hide the existing shortcomings. The updated Skoda Yeti has attracted new fans with its new external design. New options also began to appear that meet all international standards, the design of the wheels has changed, and the upholstery is made of high-quality materials. Skoda Yeti is available in 2 variations - one is intended for off-road driving, and the second for urban driving.

A lot of the feedback from critics in the automotive world was sarcastic, especially about the headlights of the predecessor Skoda Yeti, but we, for example, really liked them. You may have already noticed from the photos and videos that these headlights are no longer there. The front of the car has not changed at all. Traditionally there are regular headlights, and the PTFs are located directly in the bumper, which has acquired a rectangular shape. If you trust the reviews, the car has acquired a more serious and presentable appearance. But unfortunately there is no more zest in it. But all Skoda cars differ from others in their features, which directly shout that this car belongs to the Skoda company. And our Skoda Yeti also did not become a “black sheep”.

What will happen if we discard all predecessors and fully concentrate only on the new Yeti. To do this, let's study it from photos and videos, and then compare everything with the technical characteristics that were announced by Skoda with the data obtained.

The car will be tested on the most common Skoda Yeti, but it is worth remembering about the brand new Skoda Yeti OutDoor. Externally, it differs from the regular Yeti only in black protection, which simply covers some body elements to avoid collisions with the ground. The regular Yeti from Skoda has the same protection, although it is painted in the color of the car and is slightly smaller in size. The vehicle's ground clearance is 18 centimeters. This did not in any way affect the performance of the car, which was fully confirmed by our testing and reviews from car owners.

The car from the Czech Republic became the owner of four conventional headlights that are located in front of the car. Round-shaped headlights perform two functions: daytime running lights and PTF. The rectangular headlights took over the low beam and high beam. Bi-xenon headlights can be installed for an additional fee. The radiator grille is edged with a chrome frame, which definitely brightens up the car. The ribs on the hood of the Skoda Yeti are decorated with a special Skoda logo. A distinctive feature of this car is a huge bumper, which ideally complements the PTF. It looks good due to the elaborate body lines and air intakes. Both we and the car owners like all this.

Regarding the profile of the Skoda Yeti car, as we all see, no changes have occurred. And if you think that they are not noticeable, relax, there have been no changes. Updated only 16-17 wheel disks. Some flowers were also added.

Trunk size is a fairly important criterion when choosing an SUV, so the luggage compartment should be huge. The new Skoda Yeti has a completely new door, with unusual lines that lead to a recess for the number plate. There is lighting in the trunk. For an additional fee, LED lighting can be installed in the luggage compartment. The minimum depth of the trunk is about 410 liters. If you recline the rear seat, the volume increases by 100 liters. If you completely remove the seats, the trunk will become more than 1,700 liters.

Now it's time to talk about the interior; a look at the interior will make it easier to view photos and videos. The interior also has practically no innovations, except for a brand new steering wheel, which was “slammed” from the third generation Skoda Octavia. All materials used for interior trim are of high quality. But car testing and many car reviews Skoda owners Yeti has identified one drawback: on bumpy roads, a creaking sound is heard almost throughout the entire cabin.

Let's also turn our attention to the driver's seat, which has never found an ideal fit and also remains uncomfortable. Therefore, there is a high probability that after long trip your back will ache horribly. The distance between the second and first row of seats is more than a meter, so it will be comfortable for even very tall people to ride there.
Innovations

The restyled Skoda Yeti now has more options than its predecessor, including:

  • An important function is heated seats.
  • The ability to park and reverse has been greatly simplified thanks to the installation of a camera.
  • Start with a button.
  • Parking assistant will allow you to park even in the most crowded underground parking lot.
  • Parktronic.
  • Removable flashlight.
  • Dual zone climate control.
  • Heating windshield and wipers.
  • Technical equipment.

We already have information about the cost of the car, we also looked at which one Skoda salon Yeti. Now it is worth considering dynamic as well as specifications, and then draw conclusions about the chassis that were demonstrated during the tests. To all people who are planning to purchase a Skoda Yeti from Sweden in the future, know that you will have the opportunity to choose a car that is functional enough to make driving it absolutely comfortable.

There are 7 types of cars, 3 petrol, 4 diesel. There are also three types of transmission: 6-speed, 7-speed and 6-speed robotic gearbox. Two drives to choose from, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. There are three types of engines: 1.6 liters 105 horsepower, 2.0 liters 110/140/170 horsepower - diesel. Petrol 1.2 liters 105 horsepower, 1.4 liters, 122 horsepower, 1.8 liters 160 horsepower.

This test was carried out on a 1.8 liter gasoline car, with a manual 6-speed gearbox - the cost of which is approximately 980 thousand rubles. This price fully met our expectations, as well as the expectations of Skoda Yeti owners. The car behaves very quickly on the road.

Testing was carried out on a completely new and untested car. Fuel consumption on such a car is 8.5 liters per 100 km. The test vehicle was all-wheel drive. The Skoda Yeti keeps its distance perfectly. You can't fault the handling of this car. The car obeys the steering wheel perfectly. Some owners find the car's suspension too uncomfortable. The suspension is very sensitive to bumps and holes, of which there are too many on our roads.

The car performs well off-road. The following conclusions can be drawn based on the question: Will it be in demand? this car taking into account all the presented characteristics? Undoubtedly, it will be due to the updated design. Many will be confused by the pricing policy of the “expensive” configuration, but there will still be fans of even such a car assembly.

Below we will present to your attention a large test drive of the Skoda Yeti

The Czech automaker Skoda showed a new Yeti body back in the fall of 2013. Moreover, the manufacturer took an interesting path by offering two main configurations, which are easy to distinguish by appearance, this is an ordinary city Skoda Yeti and more off-road Skoda Yeti Outdoor.

The price of these configurations differs by only a couple of hundred euros. How to distinguish these versions of the Skoda Yeti visually? Everything is quite simple, just look at Photos of these cars from the front and back. Look at the photo below. The white Skoda Yeti is a regular city option, and the green Skoda Yeti Outdoor is more practical and off-road for trips to the country.

The most interesting thing is that both versions have both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The difference between these crossovers is the presence or absence of black plastic sills, bumpers of various designs and small optical parts.

In Russia, sales of the second generation Yeti began in February 2014. The first generation appeared back in 2009, when the class compact crossovers was just gaining popularity. The new generation of the car, as before, uses in its design technical stuffing Volkswagen. This applies not only to engines and gearboxes, but also to the overall platform. By the way, Volkswagen PQ35 platform used not only to create Yeti 2014, but also to Volkswagen crossover Tiguan.

Where is the Skoda Yeti produced in a new body? Interest Ask, to which there is a clear answer, the Skoda Yeti is assembled here in Russia at the GAZ enterprise. The domestic auto giant from Nizhny Novgorod has long hosted a lot of models from foreign brands. The new generation Skoda Yeti is being released as follows. Initially, the car is completely assembled in the Czech Republic, then disassembled into three large parts, loaded onto a train and brought to Nizhny Novgorod. There, the body with the assembled interior is connected to the front suspension, to which the engine and gearbox are bolted, plus a third part, rear suspension and transmission. Here's a large-scale assembly.

As for the main competitors Skoda Yeti 2014 in Russia, then every year the market for compact crossovers is becoming increasingly dense. To the already sold Nissan Qashqai, the more compact Juke, were added the Opel Mokka and the French crossover Peugeot 2008. In addition, the appearance of a single-platform Mokka is expected, this is the Chevrolet Trekker, which is already sold in Europe. Not to mention Chinese crossovers such as Lifan X60 and other cars in this segment. The prices and characteristics of all these cars are different and sometimes it is not easy for the buyer to choose and make the right choice.

Regarding the version Skoda Yeti 4x4 and him all-wheel drive transmission, then the manufacturer decided not to ignore this important part. The car in normal condition is 96% front-wheel drive. Only 4 percent of the torque is transmitted to the rear axle, but if necessary (slip of the front wheels) rear wheels up to 90% of torque is transmitted. In addition, the Yeti 4x4 is equipped with an electronic differential lock system for off-road driving. In general, there are quite a lot of various auxiliary systems in the new Skoda Yeti, from ABS to the descent and ascent assistance system.

They didn’t limit themselves to restyling the appearance. Salon of the new Skoda Yeti got some changes too. The possibilities for transforming the interior are especially captivating. The rear seat consists of three separate seats that can be moved back and forth by about 15 centimeters and tilted independently of each other. Besides, Skoda seats Yeti is easy to remove from the interior. You can remove the middle seat from the back row and move the remaining two to the center. This is what a 4-seater crossover will look like. Competitors generally cannot boast of such metamorphoses in the cabin. Very convenient for transporting long and non-standard cargo.

Skoda Yeti video

Detailed video review of Skoda Yeti 2014 Outdoor. Test drive 1.4 liter with 122 horsepower.

Crash test of the Skoda Yeti crossover showed the highest score, five stars according to the Euro NCAP system. Moreover, this happened back in 2009. Carry out a crash test new version meaningless, since the power structure of the body of the Czech crossover remains the same.

What a video off-road test Skoda Yeti Outdoor. European off road there was no abundance of liquid mud consisting of slippery clay near Moscow, but somewhere closer to 2 minutes interesting video footage of a four-wheel drive Yeti hanging diagonally appears. That is, the car literally rides on 3 wheels and very confidently.

Overall quite interesting and practical crossover. I don’t even want to compare the car with other cars in this class; it is quite unique. Both in appearance and technical characteristics. To each his own, but before buying, you definitely need to test out all the competitors. Of course, the crossover will find its buyer. Since the start of crossover production, Skoda has already sold more than 300 thousand Yeti crossovers worldwide. Yeti facelift will certainly allow you to sell much more.
