“Audi Q7” received another diesel engine. “Audi Q7” received another diesel engine Technical characteristics of the Audi Q7

In severe and powerful crossovers Brakes are usually a very vulnerable part. At the car with gross weight 2,200 kg and power from 300 hp. the braking system operates under very harsh conditions even at relatively active movement in city traffic. What can we say about the cases when the driver is really “burning out”... Everything is complicated by puddles on the roadway, the ubiquitous sand, the traffic mode “traffic jam - gas to the floor - traffic jam”, and sometimes braking from a speed of over 200 on the highway.

Pictured: Audi Q7 3.0 TDI quattro (4L) "2009–15

Brake discs with a diameter of 350 mm and six-piston calipers already cope with such a load to the limit. And therefore, for those who for some reason imagine themselves driving a racing car on a two-ton crossover, among the options were offered ones that were not afraid of such a load, although in an unheated form they did not provide normal braking, not to mention the considerable price of such a solution.

The service life of brake pads and discs is a very modest 20-30 thousand kilometers, and discs often last no longer than one set of pads. With “stepped” braking, careful and calm movement and extremely professional use of the brakes, the service life of the discs and pads increases two to three times, but most ordinary users of these cars have had and still have complaints about the service life of the brake system components.

“Incidental losses” also include sensor failures ABS systems, damage to the wiring of struts, air spring casings, body level sensors and rapidly aging brake fluid. Don't be surprised by unoriginal brake discs on a car with mileage up to 70-100 thousand, this is a completely typical case. Otherwise, there is nothing particularly to complain about. ABS works well, complaints about excessive release of the brakes in turns and on uneven surfaces are rare, the fixing pin does not cut off, because it simply does not have time to rust between disc replacements, and parking brake turned out to be quite reliable.

Suspension and steering

The suspension of a large crossover, and even one that claims to be sporty, is also on wheels with “insulating tape” large resource should not differ even theoretically. In practice this is true. A hundred thousand kilometers, even in the city, and it’s time to rebuild the front suspension. It will require, at a minimum, replacement of the silent blocks of the lower arm and the ball joint of the upper one. And if there is an optional “pneuma”, then the price of all problems increases by an order of magnitude, and the fee for negligence (i.e. an old dryer, lack of weekly washing of air springs and checking the wiring) can amount to a significant part of the price of a car in the first years of production. It is not surprising that before restyling, Q7s often already have a “collective farm” in the form of a spring suspension instead of pneumatics or regularly go to gas stations for pumping up because the pump cannot cope with leaks or has failed.

In the photo: Front suspension and brakes. 120 thousand kilometers.

Pneumatic strut

price for original

According to some Q 7 owners, the car handles better with springs, but pneumatics provide excellent comfort with quite tolerable handling, so it justifies its price. Overall, if you're looking for a cheaper Q7, I recommend considering whether you can also afford the regular suspension costs.

The steering was distinguished only by frequent rack leaks and a short service life of the steering tips, especially on cars with V8 engines and low-profile tires. This is quite expected for urban operation, with frequent turns of the steering wheel all the way and rotation of the wheels in place.

But the price of repairs is not comparable even with the prices for repairing suspensions and brakes, so the main risks are in this case- this means not recognizing a leaking rack and being left without power steering, far from services. Without the help of a power steering, the steering wheel is extremely heavy - this can simply lead to an accident.

Transmission

You can't expect any special tricks from this side. Mechanical part transmission is very reliable, and the simplified design transfer case without downshifting it only makes it stronger. CV joints, cardan shafts and the gearboxes are made with a good margin and can withstand everything except diesel 6.0. If they “anneal” such a motor, the shafts are literally twisted, the gearboxes are torn off the subframes, and the teeth are cut off. This is not to mention the resource of the automatic transmission.

Mechanical boxes, which are occasionally found with 3.6 engines and 3.0 diesel engines, do not raise any special questions, except that the resource of a dual-mass flywheel is limited to literally one hundred to one and a half hundred thousand mileage, and it costs a lot. And the clutch burns out quite quickly due to the non-optimal selection of gear ratios - the first gear is “too long”.

With automatic transmission everything is quite expected and standard. With diesel engines 3.0, 4.2 and with most gasoline engines V 8 4.2 were installed before restyling Aisin box TR 60SN, the same as can be found on the TLC 200 and the same-platform Cayenne and Touareg. It has fairly conservative settings and, with a calm driving style, has an impressive lifespan of 250-300 thousand kilometers by modern standards. The joy is overshadowed by the capricious hydraulic unit of the box, which is easily contaminated by wear products of the gas turbine engine locking linings during active movement, which is typical for the style of use of such machines. In addition, the automatic transmission radiator is too small, the oil regularly overheats to temperatures above 120 degrees, which increases the chances of problems occurring.

On the picture: Audi interior Q7 4.2 quattro (4L) "2005–09

In general, even a reliable automatic transmission cannot work a miracle, and most drivers have problems associated with twitching and delays in shifts after a run of 100-120 thousand kilometers. Fortunately, the design of this automatic transmission allows, with minimal (albeit expensive) repairs, to restore the gas turbine engine and the full functionality of the unit without mechanical breakdowns.

On cars with automatic transmission ZF 6HP 21/6HP 19, which were installed with 3.6 and 4.2 engines, everything is noticeably more complicated. These automatic transmissions were one of the first where the gearbox control unit was moved inside the box itself, thus obtaining a unit called “mechatronics”, and at the same time they tried to reduce operating pressure to a minimum. It turned out to be ambiguous.

Very aggressive use of the sliding lock of the gas turbine engine, sliding switching of the main clutches, and the use of mainly linear solenoids made it possible to obtain impressive dynamics and efficiency indicators. But the integrated design turned out to be very vulnerable to contamination and overheating, and with such strict operating algorithms they simply cannot be avoided.

In general, in addition to the wear and tear of the mechatronics, the problems of which are many times more expensive than those of a “regular” valve body and control system, there is a full set of mechanical problems. Friction clutches wear out quickly due to the peculiarities of the algorithm, contamination and burning due to high temperature, problems with oil pressure, wear of box bushings, damage to drums and planetary gears appear. And of course, the resource of gas turbine engines is small, in the region of hundreds of thousands.

Pictured: Audi Q7 4.2 quattro (4L) "2005–09

To the credit of this type of gearbox, they withstand the toughest starts and races for some time even better than more old transmission Aisin, but then comes the inevitable retribution in the form expensive repairs and frequent crashes. Moreover, in this case, five or six years is already a long time for a box; often it is already ready to undergo major repairs.

With 6.0 engines they also installed a reinforced version of this ZF 6HP 32 automatic transmission, and the reinforcement was clearly not enough, because contract units are in short supply. The motor successfully “collapses” the box even at very low mileage. But the dynamics will be the envy of gasoline sports cars - this cannot be taken away.

On cars after 2011, an eight-speed ZF 8HP 45 series automatic transmission with a start-stop function also appeared. Even at such a ridiculous age by “transmission” standards, it has managed to earn the reputation of being extremely unreliable, having a phenomenally short service life and, moreover, being extremely expensive and difficult to repair. Although it is worth admitting that the efficiency of the new 3.0 TFSI in combination with such a box is impressive.

For more details on the operating features of eight-speed gearboxes, see here I will not dwell on these boxes in detail. Moreover, fortunately, there are relatively few cars with this combination of engine and automatic transmission.

Motors

The situation with Audi Q 7 engines is ambiguous. If you want a minimum of problems, take it diesel options 3.0 TDI and 4.2 TDI are the most common. The petrol VR 6 3.6 FSI is quite “average” in all respects for such a heavy car, even in the most powerful modification It was rather weak, besides, difficulties with the chains, not the most successful piston and power system left no chance for trouble-free operation. But against the backdrop of the 4.2 FSI, 3.0 TFSI petrol engine and the problems of cars with a 6.0 diesel engine, even this VR 6 looks like a good boy. Below are some details.

Timing chain 3.6 lower

price for original

There are few common problems with motors. The cooling system on the Q 7 was made with a reserve; only on older gasoline engines, the risk of leaks due to cracking of pipes increases with age, while diesel engines generally perform well. I have already talked about electrical problems, except that starters on diesel engines fail more often than usual, especially for some reason on restyled cars.

The “main” engine Q 7 is a series of 3.0 V 6 V diesel engines different options. A completely successful “cast iron” has an intricate timing chain, similar to the extremely unsuccessful gasoline 4.2, but at a lower oil temperature and lower operating speeds, it lasts one and a half times longer. Difficulties with injectors and intake manifold, presence unsuccessful modifications Injection pumps usually do not cause serious negativity compared to other expenses on the car. Moreover, the dynamics are more than decent for a “car”, and fuel consumption of up to 14-15 liters per hundred can be considered outstanding.

In the photo: Under the hood of the Audi Q7 3.0 TDI quattro (4L) "2006–09

When purchasing, you should first check the fuel filters for chips. It is believed that cars after restyling with engines with the CASA index are susceptible to misfortune, but in practice, older engines also suffer from the same disease. As a result of problems with the injection pump, the entire fuel system becomes contaminated, and replacing the “culprit” itself no longer helps. Chips from the tank will damage the next set of injectors and the pump - a comprehensive replacement or cleaning is necessary.

Timing belt/fuel pump 3.0 TDI

price for original

The intake manifold on pre-restyling cars is another source of problems, but since they appeared at mileage up to 30-60 thousand, the chances of finding a car with this problem tend to zero. Well, perhaps purposefully looking for a car with minimal mileage from an owner who has not heard of recall campaigns...

There are two turbines on this diesel engine, they have a long service life, they can withstand more than 150 thousand, if you pour good oil and do not drive through puddles after “annealing” - the hot “snails” simply crack when water gets in. Oil and antifreeze supply pipes require attention - corrosion, heat and dirt leads to leaks, and then it’s not far from the engine capital.

Diesel 4.2 essentially differs little from 3.0. The resource is even higher, although taxes will be higher. Unfortunately, the risks to the EGR system increase, and cylinder head corrosion becomes more pronounced. Well, don’t forget that an automatic transmission with such an engine is very difficult - the service life is reduced by a good third, and the chances of problems with the mechanics of the box increase.

Audi Q7 3.0 TDI quattro (4.2 TDI quattro)

In the photo: Under the hood of the Audi Q7 4.2 TDI "2007–09

The petrol VR 6 3.6 is perhaps the most successful of the petrol engines. I have already mentioned the main difficulties with chains and light oil deposits, but problems with carbon deposits, injectors and fuel pumps are common for all FSI engines. The short life of the ignition modules, oil leaks and the monstrous design of the cylinder head and intake are simply a consequence of the layout decisions, and they are not serious shortcomings.

In the photo: 3.6 FSI engine (the engine compartment is prepared for repair work).

And here good resource piston group, low consumption fuel, maintainability of the design and ease of maintenance of the Q 7 with such an engine (even compared to diesel engines!) are undoubted advantages. In some cases, a car with a 3.6 petrol engine may be even cheaper to operate than a diesel one.

The 4.2 FSI engines are a real failure. In addition to problems with power supply, there are also high chances of scuffing of the alusil piston group, difficulties with intake tightness, with the oil pump, with the oil reservoir, with timing chains, attachments and the control system... The saddest thing is that money cannot solve the problem - even by replacing the engine with a new one, you only reduce the chances of problems occurring with low mileage. “Happy” owners of new cars with mileage up to 60 sometimes managed to replace two engines under warranty. Do you need it now, when the warranty is no longer valid, and the chances are for “kulants” ( extended warranty) ghostly? What if the cylinder block cracks?

The only case when buying a Q7 with 4.2 FSI justified - if the engine is already dying, and the owner offers a very good discount. Having made sure that everything else is more or less in order (which is not always the case), you can buy a car specifically for the purpose, fortunately, with relatively minor alterations, an older gasoline engine will fit here V8 from Touareg or Audi A8.

The completely new 3.0 TFSI became famous immediately. The manufacturer attributed the scuffing of the piston group to... a bad thermostat. Of course, lowering the operating temperature of the engine reduces the risk of detonation and the load on the alusil coating, but apparently, the problem was simply postponed until “after warranty.”

There were engine replacements, but most owners did not even receive an updated piston group, only firmware and a thermostat. Apart from the risk of failure, the motor looks like a miracle modern technologies. Excellent traction and power, and fuel consumption is as low as diesels, although given the difficulties with the piston, a car with a 3.0 TFSI It’s better to “feed” the AI-98.

To take or not to take?

Once again the phrase comes to mind about the price of a yacht that you cannot afford. Audi's “second flagship” turned out to be very wasteful in operation, and the number of problems inherent in the design is quite significant. In the case of the Audi Q7 a cloudless future is not guaranteed either by a small age or a modest mileage, even if it is honest. Such a car must be bought with one of the “younger” diesel engines, selected and diagnosed carefully, and still have hundreds of one and a half thousand rubles just for “expenses”. Does the amount seem significant? Then Audi Q7 is not for you.

The crossover was presented to the public in 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The first generation model immediately gained enormous popularity in European countries and won several prestigious automotive awards. Exactly 10 years after the debut of the model, the developers decided to release new modification- second generation crossover.

Presentation new Audi Q7 2018-2019 was held at the Detroit Auto Show. Experts and analysts immediately noticed that the model had become more advanced and modern in terms of engineering. It is worth noting the modernization of the exterior, as well as some changes in the interior.

Now we will try to discuss in detail all aspects of the machine.

Audi Q7 design review

Every car enthusiast who has been watching new Audi products for a long time will immediately say that new model made in the traditional style of the concern. Common features visible both with the Audi Q3 and even with the A6 station wagon.

The opinions of critics are divided - some claim that such “cloning” only helped improve the car, while others claim that the model has lost its individuality. We should probably admit that both sides are right, because the car has indeed become more modern in appearance, but has lost a little of its originality.

If you look at the car from the front, you cannot help but notice the huge hexagonal fake radiator grille, surrounded by chrome. Also on the powerful bumper are slightly “squinted” headlights. It is worth noting that, depending on the configuration, xenon and LED optics will be available. At the same level with them is the signature silver Audi badge. At the bottom of the bumper there are two large symmetrical air intakes. Two ribbed oblong lines on the hood are designed to improve streamlining, and the angle of inclination windshield and the shape of the roof - make the aerodynamic properties almost ideal.

From a side angle Audi car The Q7 2018 resembles an arrow that can rush forward at any moment at the speed of sound. This impression is due to the elongated shape of the car and the low, “sharp” bumper. It is worth noting the sloping roof, which undoubtedly gives the car an even more aesthetic appearance. Swollen wheel arches hide elegant signature wheel disks. The developers decided to make the doors large and spacious by reducing the side windows. Probably everyone must decide for themselves how successful this idea was.

The design style of the back of the Q7 2017 is slightly different from the general style. The designers decided to design a practical multifunctional trunk and rear bumper, losing a little in elegance. On the door luggage compartment the small rear window and modern optics, on the same level with which, as on the front, there is a corporate logo. On a small, neat bumper, engineers symmetrically placed exhaust tips and a diffuser.

The overall dimensions have changed when compared with the previous version, and this is not surprising, because last years The style and vector of development of the industry as a whole have changed. The dimensions are as follows:

  • length – 5.052 m;
  • width – 1.968 m;
  • height – 1.74 m;
  • wheelbase - 2.99 m;
  • ground clearance - from 14.5 cm to 23.5 cm;
  • KLS – 0.32 Сх.

If we talk separately about ground clearance, it is worth noting that its size depends on the configuration. For example, in the premium class it is possible to adjust the ground clearance level in the full available range.

The engineers of the 2018 Audi Q7 made several successful decisions regarding the body material, preferring lightweight aluminum. Therefore, now the mass of the car is from 1970 kg to 1995 kg, depending on the type of power unit.

Salon

The interior space of the Audi Q7 is simply mesmerizing. When you see him live for the first time, you will understand what we are talking about.

By changing the size of the car, the developers managed to make the interior larger and more spacious. At maximum spacious configuration, 7 people can be in the car at the same time. But also in standard all 5 passengers will be able to enjoy comfort.

The creators of the Q7 2017 decided not to load the panel and center console with a lot of various buttons and switches and gave preference to minimalism and compactness, but this did not in any way reduce their understandability and versatility.

Engineers paid special attention to driver comfort. High tech modern steering wheel, which can be adjusted in two planes, will allow you to get incredible pleasure from the driving process. The two front seats are equipped with electric controls and multi-level heating. It is worth noting that the design of the body, windows and mirrors in particular, gives the driver excellent visibility and almost eliminates the appearance of “blind spots”.

Dashboard and touchscreen are deployed at a special angle relative to the driver in order to reduce the time the driver is distracted from the road while manipulating devices.

The rear passengers of the Audi Q7 2018 are also not deprived of amenities and almost all the amenities will be available to them, as in the front row.

The trunk volume of the new product is also impressive, amounting to as much as 890 liters, and with the rear row of seats folded - 2075 liters. Which is without a doubt a huge plus for automakers.

The crossover is equipped with many functions. Now we will look at the capabilities of the mid-range configuration provided to us:

  • multimedia system with a modern touch monitor;
  • massage function on the front seats;
  • electric regulation and multi-level heating of the front row of seats;
  • high tech screen on dashboard;
  • projector;
  • modern climate control (2 and 4 zones);
  • high-quality audio system;
  • LED interior lighting;
  • parking sensors;
  • panoramic sunroof;
  • various “smart systems” that help control the traffic situation;
  • state-of-the-art cruise control;
  • camera with night shooting capability and motion sensor.

It is worth special mentioning the cruise control, which has been completely modernized. The system successfully performs all functions at speeds up to 60 km/h.

Technical characteristics of the Audi Q7

Type Volume Power Torque Overclocking Maximum speed Number of cylinders
Petrol 2.0 l 252 hp 370 H*m 6.9 sec. 233 km/h 4
Diesel 3.0 l 249 hp 600 H*m 6.9 sec. 225 km/h V6
Petrol 3.0 l 333 hp 440 H*m 6.1 sec. 250 km/h V6

Now we come to the most interesting discussion. Indeed, the Audi company has constantly pleased us with fantastic features, let's see what surprise they gave us this time.

Surprisingly, despite the fact that the engines have become much more powerful, average consumption fuel decreased by 25%.

Also positive is the all-wheel drive system available to everyone.

Regardless of the type of power unit, an eight-speed automatic transmission is installed.

The engineers decided to completely change and improve the control system. IN basic version a modern electric power steering is available, but in older trim levels it is available, borrowed from the Porsche 911 model, special system, allowing you to further increase the angle of rotation rear wheels by 5 degrees.

Traditionally, car enthusiasts have a variety of engines to choose from. Now let's figure out what each available engine is.

Let's start with two main power Audi units Q7 2017:

  1. The first of them is a turbodiesel, with a volume of 3 liters, capable of producing 272 horsepower at 600 Nm. Acceleration time from zero to hundreds takes 6.3 seconds, which can be called a fantastic result, given the car’s weight of almost two tons. The maximum speed is 234 km/h. Fuel consumption in mixed mode – 5.7 liters.
  2. Basic gasoline engine, is also a 3-liter power unit, with a power of 333 horsepower at 440 Nm. Acceleration time from zero to hundreds is 6.1 s. The maximum speed is 250 km/h. Average fuel consumption does not exceed 7.7 liters.

So that everyone can choose the most suitable option, the creators proposed several more types of power units.

We especially note six-cylinder engine Q7, 3 liter capacity, capable of delivering 218 horsepower at 500 Nm. And a petrol 2-liter version, with a power of 252 horsepower at 370 Nm.

An excellent option for lovers of environmentally friendly technologies would be a hybrid equipped with a three-liter diesel engine, with a power of 258 horsepower and a 94 kW electric motor. With combined efforts, they will be able to produce 373 horsepower at 700 Nm. Acceleration time from zero to hundreds will not exceed 6 seconds. With all this, fuel consumption is also surprising - 1.7 liters.

If driven only by the electric motor, the car can travel a maximum of 56 kilometers without recharging.

Volume fuel tank– 100 l.

Elegant design, comfort and safety, advanced suspension and good engines- it would seem, what else was missing from the premium SUV that received the Grand Prix of the Golden Klaxon award? The creators of the “Audi Q7” found untapped reserves in the engine range. In all other respects the car has not changed, but the “4.2 TDI” nameplate means that new version“Q7” was equipped with the most powerful turbodiesel of all that this German company offers. And of all the ones that are generally installed on jeeps.

IN ACTIVITY, this engine itself is not a discovery, I remember, taking the Q7 out of the parking lot at the Munich airport. Such 4.2-liter V8 with injection system “ Common Rail Executive class sedans from Audi are already equipped. Perhaps a similar TDI is under the hood of that A8 that passes me at the intersection. Why does a luxury SUV need a 326-horsepower turbodiesel? Firstly, it makes the Q7 even closer to a sports car than before. And secondly, it once again emphasizes the high status of the car and, accordingly, the status of its buyer. Perhaps the second is even more important than the first.

This TDI can hardly be called a flagship for the Q7. The range already includes a petrol V8 of similar displacement, but more powerful – 350 hp. And the maximum speed of that modification is higher - 244 km/h versus 236 for the debutant. But the newcomer can boast of remarkable dynamics: acceleration to “hundreds” according to his passport takes only 6.4 seconds. One second less than its gasoline counterpart.

It may seem that two motors of approximately equal capabilities are overkill. After all, do not take into account the efficiency of a diesel engine: the price of fuel, as a rule, is the last thing on the mind of owners of such cars... But such models usually have everything in abundance. The same “Q7” – shining example the difference between just good and much better. To verify this, just look around in the driver's seat. Luke – plus two more transparent sections above the head. The display of the proprietary MMI interface, on which the road map is currently displayed, plus a small screen on the dashboard that duplicates the navigator’s advice. Exterior mirrors are a plus light signals on them, warning you that a car or motorcycle is approaching from behind/from the side in your blind spot. The lever of the six-speed automatic transmission “Tiptronic” - plus paddle shifters for manual switching speeds Or you can tuck them in by simply shaking that same lever. And so on and so forth - my car has a maximum of standard and custom equipment...

In principle, one hatch, one display, and ordinary mirrors would be enough; and the ability to independently select gears is pleasing until you realize that the “automatic” copes with this much more successfully. But does this mean that all of the above is useless? To be honest, even some academician can be accused of being too smart. Or “Miss World” - because she is too beautiful.

And by the way, the new engine for the “Q7” not only complements the list of its advantages - with it the SUV has become perhaps the sportiest among all modern diesel cars. And if you believe the Audi specialists, then – the most.

The Audi Q7 4.2 TDI is equipped with the most powerful of all diesel engines installed in SUVs.

Predator in a cramped arena

The new Q7 engine has a huge torque of 760 Nm.

It was not by chance that I mentioned faith. On the narrow country roads, along which most of the test drive route took place, the king of asphalt (as the “Q7” is often called) simply had no place to show off his talents. Have you seen a tiger at the circus? The unfortunate animal, capable of catching up with a swift antelope in three leaps, is forced to quietly and sadly move from pedestal to pedestal. It’s very similar, only here instead of bollards there are speed limit signs, sometimes up to 80, sometimes up to 60 km/h...

The fact that the proprietary “quattro” all-wheel drive system transmits to rear wheels from 60% traction, gives the SUV refined rear-wheel drive habits - in such conditions remains a theory in pure form. I remember how a colleague who tested this model for the first time admired: “On a winding road, you experience the thrill of the precision and grace with which the bulk of the Q7 literally licks the corners.” Yeah, I was already thrilled, trudging at 70 km/h at the tail of the caravan gathered behind a huge truck.

We also recommend test drives of competing cars

The landscapes outside the windows slowly float, the clouds slowly float in the sky (it’s raining in Bavaria)… and the numbers of the jeep’s technical characteristics begin to seem as detached from everyday life as the information that the crankcase of its engine is made of cast iron interspersed with lamellar graphite. Lord, which of the future owners of the “Q7” cares about this cast iron? However, I have a couple of friends who feel deeply unhappy without such information. They will be happy to explain that the use of such a high-tech material has made it possible to reduce the weight of the engine: it weighs only 257 kg...

And suddenly, on the opposite side of the highway, a decent “window” of several hundred meters appears. There are no signs prohibiting overtaking. Gas to the floor and... The tiger finally got the opportunity to jump! Truck and seven passenger cars in its wake they merge into a mechanical centipede and after a couple of seconds they are left behind. And the oncoming cars are still a few hundred meters away.

It seems that the 4.2-liter diesel Q7 is loaded with torque, like an artillery shell with gunpowder. He quietly waits until the firing pin hits the primer, and then... 760 Nm in the range from 1,800 to 2,500 rpm is no joke. This is why the “4.2 TDI” is one second ahead of the more powerful gasoline modification at acceleration up to 100 km/h. Moreover, with all accelerations, the uniform, quiet hum of the diesel engine does not change tone, and the tachometer needle does not tend to deviate beyond the 2,000-2,500 rpm mark.

We finally get onto the autobahn - and here the executive SUV already has room to roam. The five-meter colossus with frightening speed catches up with the other inhabitants of the left lane, forcing them to respectfully shift to the right. Not everyone, of course. Almost overtaken"

Without waiting for the official debut, scheduled for January 2015, the Audi carmaker has declassified basic information about the second generation of the full-size Q7 crossover. The new product received an impressive list of innovations, moved to new platform and became slightly more compact than its predecessor, while managing to offer a more spacious interior.

Initially, a few days before the full showdown, Audi declassified the appearance of the new generation of crossover. The most anticipated new product of recent times received a new radiator grille, different bumpers and stylish optics, which can be xenon, LED or matrix. In addition, the second-generation Audi Q7 received tweaked body contours, which, by the way, lost 71 kg due to a larger volume of aluminum - now all doors, hood and wings are stamped from it. The basis of the body, as before, is a frame made of high-strength steel.

As for the dimensions, the length of the new product will be 5050 mm, of which wheelbase 2990 mm are allocated. Width Q7 2015 model year equal to 1970 mm, and the height is limited to 1740 mm. Maximum height ground clearance(clearance) of the crossover is 235 mm, while the optional air suspension can change it within 90 mm. The mass characteristics of the car have not yet been announced, but it is known that on average all trim levels have lost approximately 325 kg, which will allow the new product to become the lightest in its class.

The interior of the second generation Audi Q7 has undergone a global transformation. In addition to new materials, a more ergonomic dashboard, a revised center console and new seats, there is absolutely new layout, which made it possible to achieve an increase in free space both in the legs and above the heads of passengers in both rows of seats (the increase in the legs of the rear row will be 21 mm, and above the heads there will be an increase of 41 mm in the front and 23 mm in the rear). In addition, the interior has become a little freer in the shoulder area, here the increase was 20 mm.

The Audi Q7 can be either a standard 5-seater crossover or a 7-seater family full size car with three rows of seats. In the classic two-row layout, the rear row seats will be able to move longitudinally by 110 mm, which is 10 mm more than its predecessor.

The trunk has also changed - in the 7-seater version it can accommodate only 295 liters of cargo, in the more familiar 5-seater version the capacity luggage compartment increases to 890 liters, and when folded rear seats useful volume increases to 2075 liters.

Specifications. The engine range of the Audi Q7 2015 will be quite extensive at the start of sales, but a little later it will be replenished with several more engine options.
In the meantime, the new product will be offered with 2.0 TFSI and V6 3.0 TFSI petrol turbo units, producing 252 hp respectively. (370 Nm) and 333 hp. (440 Nm) maximum power, as well as a V6 3.0 TDI diesel engine, producing 218 hp depending on boost. (500 Nm) or 272 hp. (600 Nm) power. The manufacturer notes that on average the new generation Q7 will be 26% more economical than its predecessor, while best results demonstrates a 272-horsepower diesel engine that delivers 5.7 liters per 100 km.

However, that's not all. A little later than the others, a hybrid version of the Q7 e-tron quattro, equipped with a 3.0-liter diesel unit with a power of 258 hp, paired with an electric motor with an output of 94 kW. The electric motor is integrated into an 8-speed automatic transmission, and its traction lithium ion battery has a capacity of 17.3 kWh. Total output of the hybrid power plant will be 373 hp. (700 Nm), while on electric power alone the crossover will be able to accelerate to the first 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds or reach a “maximum speed” of 225 km/h, ultimately driving about 56 km without recharging. When connecting to a diesel engine, the average fuel consumption of the hybrid is predicted to be an impressive 1.7 liters per 100 km. Note that the e-tron quattro modification will be the first hybrid crossover with full, rather than electric, all-wheel drive, a 6-cylinder diesel engine and recharging from a regular outlet.

The Audi Q7 2015 is based on a modernized MLB platform, which has become lighter, received a larger volume of aluminum in the chassis structure and a center of gravity lowered by 50 mm, allowing for better stability and more precise handling. The car will receive five-link front and rear independent suspensions, A steering The crossover manufacturer will provide a new electromechanical power steering with variable force and several operating programs. Of the already declassified innovations, we highlight the presence of optional electric actuators, turning the rear wheels to improve handling when cornering. Also available for the Q7 is the Audi Drive Select adaptive chassis with air suspension and seven operating modes.

Of course, the Q7 will also receive a full Quattro drive, which also received a number of innovations. In particular, a new lightweight and more compact center differential lock has been integrated into the body of the Tiptronic automatic transmission. By manufacturer's data, the updated all-wheel drive allows in the standard state to distribute traction in a ratio of 40:60 in favor of rear axle, but when wheels slip, traction can be transmitted in any ratio in the range from 70:30 to 15:85.

Equipment and prices. The Audi Q7 will receive much more innovations in terms of equipment. The crossover will get an updated multimedia system MMI with improved voice command recognition, two central display diagonals (7 or 8.3 inches) and support for two 12.1-inch entertainment tablets for rear passengers. In addition, the Audi Q7 2015 will be equipped with a premium 1920-watt Bang&Olufsen audio system with 23 speakers, a whole complex electronic systems safety, which the manufacturer calls the most complete in premium segment, head-up display and a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel. The Germans will announce a list of other standard and optional equipment later.

The official premiere of the second-generation model took place in January 2015 at the Detroit Auto Show. In Russia, applications for the new product will begin in early March, and the first commercial vehicles are expected by dealers closer to summer at a price of 3,630,000 rubles. At the start of sales, versions of the flagship all-terrain vehicle with 3.0-liter engines will be available for Russian fans of the premium brand: 333-horsepower gasoline and 249-horsepower diesel.

AudiQ7 is an all-wheel drive seven-seater SUV that has been on sale on the market for more than 10 years. Buying used premium car, It’s like you’re playing roulette, in which you can become lucky and only do scheduled maintenance during operation, or you can put everything on the line, and after a couple of thousand kilometers start investing fabulous money in repairs. The Audi Q7 looks very prestigious and expensive, but after 5-6 years on the secondary market it is sold for a third of the price. But what makes owners part with their car, and at the same time lose a lot of money, now we’ll try to figure it out.

A little history:

The debut of the Audi Q7 took place in 2006 at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The car is produced in Slovakia and shares a common platform with " Volkswagen Touareg" And " Porsche Cayenne" The Q7 is a full-size crossover and is the largest in the company's SUV line. In 2009, the car underwent a facelift and since then its exterior has not undergone any changes. Then the car received an updated radiator grille, the headlights were slightly larger, and a modified hood with a more expressive line relief was installed on the car. IN front bumper side sections appeared in which direction indicators were installed. The profile of models produced before and after 2009 can be distinguished by the side mirrors, the shape of the door sills and the design rims. The restyled version is built on a modernized platform " PL71» with a wheelbase of 3.0 meters.

Advantages and disadvantages of a used Audi Q7.

The car body is well processed anti-corrosion materials, therefore rotten Audi Q7 very rare. And here paintwork It has a drawback: in places of chips and damage, the paint, over time, begins to peel off in large pieces. Once every 3-4 years, the button on the door handles fails; it is only replaced as an assembly with the handle. It happens that the optics lose their seal and begin to fog up; also, LEDs often fail. the main problem headlights is that due to high cost they are often stolen (cost new headlights about 1000 USD). The battery is under driver's seat and to replace it, it is better to contact the service. The fact is that even if you replace it yourself, you will still have to go to the dealer to register it in the control unit.

Power units

Audi Q7 is equipped with petrol and diesel engines different power– FSI 3.6 (280 hp), 4.2 (350 hp); TDI 3.0 (233, 240 hp), 4.2 (326 hp), 6.0 (500 hp); TFSI 3.0 (272, 333 hp). On the secondary market among gasoline engines The most widely used engine is the 4.2. As operating experience has shown, this power unit rarely presents unpleasant surprises to its owners. When buying a car with more than 100,000 km mileage, listen to how it works cold engine, if you hear ringing sounds or diesel rumble, it means it's time to change the timing chain (chain replacement is required on average once every 200,000 km). Replacing a chain at a dealer is not a cheap pleasure, about 3000 USD; at a garage service station they will ask for half that. The 3.6 engine is considered the most optimal, both in terms of fuel consumption and reliability. The weak point of this power unit is the ignition coils (they fail every 70-80 thousand km). The timing chain stretches closer to 200,000 km. The Audi Q7 has 4 timing chains, and to replace them, you need to remove the engine.

Most diesel engines have problems with fuel injection pump reliability, which manifest themselves quite early, at a mileage of 80-120 thousand km. After failure, the fuel pump begins to drive chips into fuel system, as a result, you have to change all its elements and flush the gas tank. For the owners, this became an unpleasant surprise, since all repairs in an official service cost 10,000 USD, while in an unofficial service it can cost 5,000 USD. Many owners corrected this defect under warranty; before purchasing, be sure to read the service history of the car. The 4.2 engine has proven to be the most problem-free among diesel engines; no global recurring problems have been identified during the entire period of operation. Owners of the first copies of the Audi Q5 with diesel engines note problems with intake manifolds, leaking oil seals and squeezing out the oil dipstick. TFSI engines, unfortunately, not very reliable. Added to the main problems is increased oil consumption, which appears on cars with a mileage of 50,000 km or more. Depending on the mileage, additional consumption can range from 0.5 liters to 1.5 liters per 1000 km. Dealers claim that on cars manufactured after 2014, there is a problem with increased consumption oil was solved.

If the turbine is properly maintained and operated, it will last up to 200,000 km; replacement will cost 2,000 USD. At approximately 200-250 thousand km, fuel injectors exhaust their service life; you will have to pay 200 USD to replace each one. Often, owners encounter failures of the electronic engine control unit. The main reason for its failure is bad contacts and moisture that enters it through a plug in the upper part of the case, which is designed for ventilation. After 100,000 km, many cars require replacement of the starter (200-400 cu), this problem is more relevant for cars with diesel engines. power units. Before changing the starter, carefully check the wiring, as it very often rots, as a result, the starter may not work.

Transmission.

The power units of the restyled Audi Q7 were combined with a six-speed automatic transmission. After restyling in 2010, all cars began to be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. As operating experience has shown, the transmission in this car is quite reliable. Sometimes they may leak sealing rubber bands, because of this, the contacts close. This trouble is manifested by shocks in the box during switching. Replacing electrical harnesses with gaskets will cost 300 USD. and this is pennies compared to repairing the box, so there is no point in delaying the replacement of electrical harnesses. Also, do not delay replacing the fogged oil seal, which is located between the gearbox and the engine; if it begins to fog, it must be urgently replaced to prevent serious damage transmissions. On some copies, the hydraulic unit fails quite early, its repair costs 1000 USD. The all-wheel drive system offers virtually no surprises. If the previous owner abused slipping and off-road driving, then after a mileage of 150-200 thousand km the transfer case will need to be repaired.

Salon

Everything in the interior is of very high quality, pleasant and beautiful; it feels like German specialists worked on the design, and not fired guys from the Skoda factory. But the reliability of electrical equipment raises a lot of questions among owners. For example, owners complain about incorrect operation of the mirror adjustment lever, music adjustment keys, and system power buttons. Also, the disadvantages include the quick erasing of the markings on the buttons, which is unacceptable for cars of this class. Over time, crickets may appear in the interior of the Audi Q7 (in the area of the roof and trunk) and it is very difficult to get rid of them.

Driving performance of a used Audi Q7.

The Audi Q7 can be equipped with either air suspension or conventional suspension. Cars with air suspension are more comfortable, but you have to pay dearly for this comfort in the truest sense of the word. The air suspension is afraid of winter, slush and reagents that are generously sprinkled on our roads. Under the influence of all these factors, the valves of the air struts and the compressor fail. The cost of replacing pneuma from the officials is equal to the cost of a good passenger car. The first problems with such a suspension may begin at 50,000 km. To extend the service life of the air suspension, ask the technicians to clean it at every maintenance.

Bushings and stabilizer struts are considered consumables and last, on average, 30-50 thousand km. At 50,000 km, the steering tips begin to tap, wheel bearings last a little longer - 60-80 thousand km. Those who like to avoid traffic jams on curbs often have to change ball joints(changed together with the lever). The rear suspension extensions take on most of the load; they have to be changed quite often - once every 50-80 thousand km. Some specimens suffer from a hidden disease ( rapid wear rubber edges of the front wheels), wheel alignment or air suspension adjustment, this disease cannot be cured. Otherwise, the suspension is quite strong and has a service life of up to 150,000 km.

The steering rack begins to knock closer to 100,000 km, after new dealers They ask for 1000 USD, a non-original can be found for 500 USD, but you need to understand that its service lines may be 2 times less. You can also try to restore the rack (about $200), but it’s hard to say how long it will last. Brake system The Audi Q7 suffers from a Japanese disease, which is popularly referred to as “Cotton Pedal,” which negatively affects the braking dynamics of the car, which weighs 2500 kg.

Result:

Despite the fact that the Audi Q7 has a number of shortcomings, this model is very popular in the secondary market, the reason for this is that its competitors have even more of them.

Advantages:

  • Four-wheel drive.
  • Ride quality.
  • Spacious salon.
  • Build quality.

Flaws:

  • Fuel consumption does not correspond to the declared one.
  • Weak paintwork.
  • High cost of repairs at the dealer.
  • Creaks in the cabin.
