The fastest Mercedes E63 AMG: Interior Exterior Engine Price. The fastest Mercedes e63 AMG: Interior Exterior Engine Price New e63

Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach (the first two words are the names of the founders, the third is the location of the company’s first headquarters) - abbreviated as AMG, has been reworking sedate names for many years Mercedes sedans into a very powerful technique, capable of completely crushing tires into dust with just one strong press of the gas pedal to the floor.

The first sedan in the AMG stable was the very aggressively tuned W109 300 SEL 6.8, which was prepared specifically for racing. Serial engine replaced with a more powerful V8 with a displacement of 6.8 liters and an output of 400 hp. Then it was the turn of the popular W123. The company showed how fast a “sofa transporter” can be.

The W124 model has already received several charged versions: 300E AMG Hammer, E36 AMG and E60 AMG. Their powers ranged from 272 to 381 hp. This was enough for the honest Merc to turn into a real torpedo.

More than 20 years have passed and the premium business sedan from Stuttgart in the AMG version has acquired a 5.5-liter unit under the hood with a capacity of 558 hp. The letter S at the end means that the engine produces 585 hp. It was just such a car, in the toughest version, that we got for the test.

Many admirers of the brand begin to yawn with boredom when they see the face of the restyled W212 with “merged” headlights. Unfortunately, "speed fans" also refer to the ultra-fast AMG-S, which is different from the usual civilian version aggressive fake front part, predatory lines of the front wings with the “V8 Biturbo” nameplate, huge 19 and 20-inch rims, behind which hide huge brake discs with giant calipers. Rear end decorated with a diffuser with built-in 4-pipe exhaust. The car lacks a little brutality, thanks to which it could well become one of the “heroes” of the famous film “Fast and Furious”.

Inside, as it should be German car, very luxurious and comfortable. At first glance, the interior is no different from the regular civilian version. Only a careful comparison reveals the logos of the German tuner AMG on the gear selector and the button next to it, with the help of which the sedate sedan, as if by magic, turns into a real Lucifer. Nearby are buttons for turning on/off ESP and changing the suspension stiffness. The business style of the car is emphasized by only one gadget - the IWC Schaffhausen watch, located between the air vents on the front panel.

About quantity internal space there's nothing bad to say. There is more than enough space in both the front and rear. The positive impression is enhanced by the 540-liter trunk. The side bolsters of the front seats constantly “pump up” while cornering, either on the left or on the right, depending on the direction of the overload. It is almost impossible to fall out of your seat during a turn.

It makes no sense to dwell in more detail on numerous systems. Imagine everything that a car can be equipped with, and feel free to double this amount. The E63 is simply overloaded with equipment. However, many people will like it.

And now the most important moment is approaching - the moment of starting the engine. After turning the ignition key, everything in the world is forgotten, and any, even the most serious reasons for concern. Is the campaign being audited? Doesn't matter! Mistress, announced pregnancy? To hell with her! The wife threatens to divorce and take away her beloved dog. Let him take it! This unique sound is mesmerizing. For his sake, there will be any excuse to go on a “trip”.

Under the hood of the AMG E63 S is a real 8-cylinder monster with 585 hp. and a torque of 800 Nm. Is the car really faster than many Porsches? Doubts disappear, even after shyly pressing the gas pedal. When you dare to press the accelerator harder, you realize how strong this sedan is.

800 Nm passes through a 7-speed MCT gearbox developed by AMG engineers. Thanks to it and the all-wheel drive system, the car literally “bites” into the asphalt, reaching the first hundred in 3.6 seconds. Further acceleration is no less impressive. The speedometer needle freezes at 250 km/h, and if equipped special package“crawls” up to 305 km/h.

Driving the E63 AMG-S will require a lot of fuel. On the highway you can see figures of 14 l/100 km, and even 26 l/100 km. With a light driver's foot on city avenues, fuel consumption will easily exceed 40 liters! More sedate people will be able to keep within 20 liters.

Suspension and steering have nothing in common with the regular E-Class. AMG S is a demonstration of the capabilities of modern automotive technology. However, during extreme driving By Russian roads with a strongly clamped suspension, at the transverse joints, in addition to noticeable shocks, dull knocks are also heard.

For drivers who do not want to part with driver's license, normal chassis settings are provided, which turn the E63 AMG into an ordinary business sedan that does not notice holes in the asphalt or bumps.

A short adventure with the Mercedes E63 AMG S brought a lot of positive emotions. Great car with outstanding abilities, in ten years, it would certainly become a coveted classic. Complete satisfaction and real pleasure can be obtained only with the amount of 6,000,000 rubles!

Turn Dynamic Select to Race mode, put the transmission in manual mode, turn off ESP, pull the paddle shifters, confirm the command with the right one. Congratulations, you've entered Drift Mode and turned your all-wheel drive Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4Matic+ into a rear-wheel drive breakaway car.

It's truly rear-wheel drive, it's not for you Ford Focus RS that just gives more power on rear axle. The car now sends 612 forces and 850 Nm only to rear wheels. No traction control.

Of course, you won't need it. Unless you're planning to fill the pages of a magazine with photos of smoking tires or trying to become a drift hero. In this case, a terrible shame and a huge repair bill will invariably follow the phrase: “Look how I can…” Better show off your words, people.

So, you don't need this, but it is important. Don't see the logic? Wait. As far as I know, no one has yet designed all-wheel drive sedan, which at the touch of a button (or buttons) could be converted into rear-wheel drive. The E 63 S is the first, and it has a wide range of talents beyond that. What about the competitors? This is a stone towards the Audi RS6 and BMW M5, and in general an application for sole leadership. If the system is good, of course.

Tobias Moers, head of AMG, believes that the new E 63 models “represent the biggest step forward we have ever taken from one generation to the next.” Notice he says “models.” There are two of them: the E 63 and the more expensive and advanced E 63 S (the one I drove). The extra charge is not only for extra forces and Newton meters. The “eski” has more brakes (front - 390 mm if conventional, and 402 mm if carbon-ceramic), has the Track Pace application, dynamic engine mounts and electronically controlled rear differential instead of a mechanical “self-block”. And then there's Drift Mode...

Axel Seilkopf, chief mechanic of the E 63, explains what they have changed. A lot, mainly so that the engine develops 850 Nm, as the marketers ordered. Old box was also designed only for 700 Nm. Pistons, turbines, brakes - everything is new or strengthened. And the “S” turned out from the less powerful E 63 not by simply reconfiguring the brain. It has lightweight pistons, different air intakes, and an intercooler. And most importantly, a pair of dual-flow turbines that increase thrust at low speeds.

In the box there are “wet” clutches instead of a torque converter, so that you can start with slipping - the oil cools. And the multi-disc clutch distributes the torque along the axes, it is compact and can send all 850 Nm forward or backward.

And here I am race track in Portimao, following the legend - Bernd Schneider, who drives an AMG GT S. I can't corner as fast as he does. The E 63 S weighs 1,880 kg, just 35 kg more than the old rear-wheel drive car (commendable!). But it is still a large mass, and the center of gravity is higher. Carbon ceramics do not overheat, the 265/35 ZR20 front tires (295/30 ZR20 rear tires) grip perfectly and prevent the front end from falling off, and the steering is precise and reliable. Not very sensitive, but the variable force bar doesn't irritate me, although I usually hate that.

But the real joy begins after the apex, when you let the moment go to all wheels. This is magic. Partly thanks to the engine, which sounds magical and delivers exuberant traction, but the main thing is what the chassis of the new E 63 does with that traction. The Audi RS6 would blow its nose, but the Mercedes behaves more like a rear-wheel drive one. First, a portion of the moment goes to rear axle, levels the car, collects it, and then the power moves forward to clean up the trajectory. And all four wheels work, pulling in the same direction.

Of course, it all happens in a split second and seems like a smooth, seamless and natural d-motion, but it's amazing. The car is not only fast and efficient, but also fun.

The type of shield is customizable. You can put separate dials for the speedometer and tachometer

Turbines are stacked for fast response and environmental friendliness

Behind the beautiful wheels are carbon ceramics. The dynamics are simply incredible

If you press the gas too sharply or too early, you will come out of a bend in a drift beautifully. Just a little bit off the stern, but it’s enough to make you feel like a hero. Even when the traction control is turned off, you need to accelerate a lot to go into a full-fledged spinning skid. Unless you turn it off four-wheel drive... A good poke on the pedal will rip your butt off so that you can't get it back. It h-happens instantly. But for more high speeds the car is incredibly controlled and incredibly fun. Unless you pay the tire bills, of course.

Still, the E 63 is not a track car, and it proved it. We meet the dawn of the next morning on the N2 - this is a fantastic road, endlessly winding back and forth, sometimes diluted with short sprint straights in third or fourth gear. The sedan is more impressive there than on the track. I expected it to be bulky and cranky, but no - it's surprisingly accurate and efficient. Once again, the all-wheel drive system turns the car into an athlete with relaxed movements. Body control is so excellent. And this motor...

Rival - BMW M5
More comfortable and relaxing than the E 63, but not as cool

I doubted whether the 4-liter engine would be a drag compared to the old 5.5-liter twin-turbo, because the car weighs more. I thought there would be turbo lag and no traction from the bottom. Nothing like this. This engine is the future of Mercedes-AMG. They've invested heavily in the development, which is still underway, and this is the result - an awesome, powerful V8. At medium speeds, the thrust is simply limitless, the engine rams the limiter at 7000 rpm if you are late with the shift, and roars delightfully in your ears. Even by supersedan standards upper class This is crazy stuff.

The steering wheel and brakes lack a little feeling, but the responses to commands are always predictable and reliable, which feeds the pilot’s confidence. I was more impressed with the gearbox, even though I've never been a fan of the MCT transmission - the shifts are crisp, instant, bright, and make every acceleration feel very lively.

The engine roars, the wheels grip, and the E 63 S shoots so powerfully and quickly that it makes you want to do it again and again. It's more fun than the M5 or RS6. Do you have any doubts? Yes, I'm surprised how aggressive he is. On a winding highway, you can fall under its spell and become addicted. If the BMW M5 feels plush and comfortable, plunging you into deep seats, the Mercedes won't let you relax. The buckets are hard with thin cushions. The ride is firm and the tires are loud.

But you can take softer pillows and drive the E 63 to work. The engine and transmission will take it in stride, and you'll quickly get used to the road noise. And the salon is magnificent. The quality of the carbon fiber is exceptional, the fit is super comfortable and there are more gadgets than you can use. The feeling of high cost does not go away. My only doubts are about the dual screen and steering wheel-mounted touchpad controls. This is nonsense and the E 63 doesn't need it. What about Driver Assist systems? They seem completely out of place. Semi-autonomous AMG? No thanks, I prefer driving it myself.

Not every manufacturer can assemble a beautiful appearance, an incredibly comfortable and technologically advanced interior, as well as powerful motor. But Mercedes could - this is how the Mercedes E63 AMG 2018 was born, which is one of the fastest and most luxurious production cars. Of course, its cost will go through the roof, but in this case this shouldn't stop anyone, because new model is almost perfect.

It's hard to find something angrier in appearance than new body this famous model. The company's designers did their best and created the perfect project both in terms of aerodynamics and style. The car's muzzle is low, with a wavy hood on top, slightly inclined towards the road. Next is the main air intake system - oval, inside of which there is a mesh divided into parts using chrome strips. There is also a huge company sign here. High-quality small optics filled with xenon were placed next to the grille.

The entire lower part of the bumper is filled with air intakes. In total, you can see three of them in the photo here - two huge ones on the sides, as well as another one in the very center, which is a narrow strip.

The restyling brought practically nothing new to the profile part of the car. It still remains very long, slightly wavy, with large windows, some relief over the entire area of the body, stylish wheels and a small cutout just to the right of the front arch.

The rear part is also beautifully and aggressively designed. At the very top it is quite narrow, but the closer you get to the road, the wider the bumper becomes. The decorations here are a protrusion on the trunk that plays the role of a spoiler, several thin lines of stackers, massive traditional optics and a pair of dual exhaust pipes.

Video

The “charged” E-Class, according to a newly established tradition, enters the market in two versions at once. The place of the previous V8 5.5 biturbo engine was taken by a more compact 4.0-liter V8 with two dual-flow turbochargers in the camber of the block. This is the same engine that is installed on the AMG GT coupe, but if previously its output did not exceed 585 hp. and 700 Nm, then for an “eshka” it is seriously boosted. The entry-level Mercedes-AMG E 63 develops 571 hp. and 750 Nm, and the most evil version of the E 63 S produces 612 hp. and 850 Nm! In addition, a system has been added to shut off half of the cylinders at low loads: it is activated only in Comfort mode in the range from 1000 to 3250 rpm.

Both versions have a box AMG gears Speedshift MCT, made on the basis of a nine-speed “automatic” 9G-Tronic with a planetary gear set, but for the sake of rate of fire it is installed instead of a torque converter wet clutch. However Top news in another: the Mercedes-AMG E 63 marked the company's transition from permanent all-wheel drive with center differential to the system with multi-plate clutch front axle connections!

So far, only “junior” Mercedes with a transverse engine have been equipped with such a transmission, but at the beginning of the year all-wheel drive was available for “large” models, and BMW has been using such a system for many years. Now Daimler has given in too.

0 / 0

The new transmission is called 4Matic+ and in the case of extreme “yes” it is good because it can completely disable the drive of the front wheels, giving the car a completely rear-wheel drive character. At the same time, the initial version of the E 63 also has a rear “self-locking” unit, and the S modification has an electronically controlled differential.

Moreover, the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S has a special drift mode: in this case, the clutch is open, ESP is disabled, and the gearbox operates in manual mode. For those who are not ready to curb 612 “horses” on their own, an intermediate mode of operation of the Sport Handling Mode stabilization system is provided, which allows sliding within harmless limits.

What else? The body, compared to the standard “eshka”, is widened by 17 mm and reinforced with four additional braces, and the front end has also been changed — the hood has lost its beak and now a jumper is inserted between it and the radiator grille. Wheels with a landing diameter of 19 or 20 inches, air suspension is already in the “base”, and carbon-ceramic brakes are offered for an extra charge for the “Eski”. Compared with the same model new AMG The E 63 has become 30 kg heavier: curb weight is 1875 kg.

And yet, the acceleration time to “hundreds” was reduced by 0.2 s: basic sedan does this exercise in 3.5 seconds, and the S version in 3.4 seconds! Top speed is traditionally limited to 250 km/h, but optional AMG package Driver's Package shifts the cutoff to 300 km/h.
