Mercedes G LK. Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class. Other problems and malfunctions

The updated Mercedes-Benz GLK (factory model index X204) debuted in the spring of 2012 at the New York Auto Show. You can buy a new Mercedes GLK-class 2012-2013 in Russia at a price starting from 1.83 million rubles.
Restyling Mercedes-Benz GLK designed to strengthen the position of the compact German crossover, produced since 2008, which is in fairly stable and high demand not only in Europe, but also in Russia. Based on the results of 2011 Mercedes of the year GLK-class has become the best-selling Mercedes in Russia. Yes, and competitors do not sleep - new and... Let's figure out what the success of the popularity of the most lies in small SUV with a three-pointed star on the facing of the false radiator grille, and at the same time we will evaluate the design changes and dimensions of the body and interior, get acquainted with technical characteristics Mercedes ZhLK (another version of Russian transcription), Russian trim levels and prices. Photos and video materials, traditionally placed at the end of the review, will help us admire the exterior, rims and tires, choose a color and evaluate the crossover in motion.

The external facelift affected mainly the front part of the crossover. The designers awarded the car with new headlights with sharp edges, as an original filling - corners of LEDs, duplicated by strips of LED lamps on a modified bumper. The front fairing has acquired a powerful plastic ski with a chrome finish; it looks serious and aggressive. The rear of the updated Mercedes G El Ka crossover also boasts a new bumper with a diffuser integrated into its plane, behind which mufflers are nestled. Otherwise, the body retained the familiar brutal image of the pre-restyling model.
When viewed from the side, the new GLK-Class tries to look like its older brother Mercedes-Benz GL, and it succeeds - a long hood, chopped shapes, straight lines, even wheel arches reminiscent of a larger German SUV... in our opinion, the compact 2013 GLK looks much more harmonious than its large-caliber relative.

  • Dimensional dimensions Mercedes body GLK 2013 model year are: 4536 mm long, 1840 mm (with mirrors 2016 mm) wide, 1669 mm high, 2755 mm wheelbase, 210 mm ground clearance (clearance), 300 mm depth of surmountable water obstacle, 23 degrees approach angle, 25 degrees departure angle, 19 degrees angle geometric cross-country ability body
  • When purchasing a crossover, you can choose colors body colors of three non-metallic colors: Fire Opal (red), Polar white, Black; and metallic enamels in nine different colors: Silver Diamond, Silver Iridium, Silver Palladium, Gray Tenorite, Gray Luzonite, White Diamond, Blue Cavansite, Brown Cuprite and Black Obsidian.
  • Choosing alloy wheels will take a lot of time, because at least fourteen design options are offered, disks R17, R19 and R20. The range of tires is also impressive, and tires may differ in width for front and rear axle: 235/ 60 R17, 235/ 50 R19, 235/ 45 R20.

The interior of the new Mercedes GLK has been transformed, and although the general architecture of the front panel and center console has been preserved, they look different. Round ventilation deflectors appeared, there were more wooden inserts on the dashboard, the console was modernized, a new design steering wheel was installed, and most importantly, the gear knob disappeared from the tunnel!!! Or rather, the lever was replaced with a joystick and placed on the steering column - just like the older Mercs. Beautiful and informative instruments in three separate wells, in the center of the largest one there is a color information display.
The front seats with electric drive and heating have become more comfortable and more sensitively support the body in turns with lateral support bolsters. The second row can comfortably accommodate three passengers. The trunk volume, depending on the position of the rear seats, is 450-1550 liters. Finishing materials, noise and sound insulation are premium.
Initial equipment Russian versions The updated Mercedes GL K has dual-zone climate control, an on-board computer, CD MP3, a 5-inch color display, heated electric mirrors, alloy wheels with tires 235/60R17, Adaptive Brake (adaptive braking system), ASR (anti-slip system), 4ETS (electronic stabilization system), BAS (assistant emergency braking), PTS (Parktronic). The number of options is huge, we will mention only a few of them: electric tailgate, rear view camera, Comand APS multimedia complex with a 7-inch color screen, color screens for second-row passengers, Harman Kardon Logic acoustics and much more.

Specifications Mercedes GLK 2012-2013: in Russia the car is available with two diesel engines and a pair gasoline engines. The transmission is only a 7-speed automatic (7G-Tronic automatic transmission), 4Matic permanent all-wheel drive system, independent suspension with shock absorbers capable of changing their characteristics, electric power steering is also adjustable.
Diesel:

  • GLK 220 CDI Blue Efficiency (170 hp), this motor provides dynamics up to 100 mph in 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph. Consumes diesel unit on average 6.1-6.5 liters of diesel fuel.
  • GLK 250 BlueTec (204 hp), the crossover accelerates to the first hundred in 8.0 seconds, the average consumption will be 6.5 -7.0 liters. A powerful diesel engine is capable of accelerating a crossover weighing 1850 kg to 210 km/h.
  • GLK 300 (250 hp), the initial gasoline engine accelerates the car to 100 mph in 7.5 seconds and consumes 8.2-8.6 liters of gasoline in combined mode.
  • GLK 350 (306 hp), its more powerful brother, shoots the car to hundreds in 6.5 seconds and allows it to accelerate to 238 mph. The average fuel consumption will be 8.6-9.0 liters.

Test Drive Mercedes GLK-class 2012-2013: on the move, the restyled crossover is not much different from the usual one passenger car, because in essence that’s what he is. Built car on a platform Mercedes-Benz C-Class(W204) with all the ensuing consequences: comfortable and elastic suspension does not lull, but smoothes out all the irregularities. On paved roads, the car will allow you to drive confidently at maximum speed and take corners without fear. The steering response is somewhat delayed at low speeds, but as the speed increases, everything falls into place - the JLK steers correctly and juicily. A mass of electronics constantly monitors the crossover, and in the event of a piloting error, it will correct the trajectory. Behind the wheel of the new JLK you get the feeling that it is not the driver who controls the car, but the car only allows it to be driven.
When off-road, you need to be aware that the ZhLK crossover, although with permanent all-wheel drive, can cope with minor troubles in the form of a muddy dirt road, sand or snow, but for off-road it is better to choose another car.
What is the price in Russia: sales of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK start for Russian fans of the German brand at a cost of 1,830,000 rubles for a crossover in basic configuration with a diesel engine GLK 220 CDI with an engine of 170 horsepower. The price of a petrol GLK 300 (250 hp) is at least 1,990,000 rubles, but you can buy the most powerful GLK 350 (306 hp) at a price of 2,430,000 rubles.

It is the smallest crossover of the Mercedes-Benz company, which, in addition, has an atypical appearance for this brand. Most skeptics considered it too square on the outside and rustic on the inside, however, this did not in any way affect the car’s popularity and sales volumes. Despite its small age, cars of this brand are increasingly found on secondary market, this fact makes us very much doubt the reliability and practicality Mercedes GLK. But what exactly makes owners part with their cars so quickly, and what surprises a used GLK can bring, we’ll now try to figure it out.

A little history:

The concept was first presented to the public in early 2008 at the Detroit auto show. The debut of the production model took place at the Beijing Motor Show in April of the same year; outwardly, the car was practically no different from the concept. In terms of body type, the Mercedes GLK is a crossover, based on the C-class station wagon. Mercedes S204" When developing the appearance of the new product, the “” model, which has been produced since 2006, was taken as a basis. The technical stuffing is borrowed from C-class eg all wheel drive system 4 Matic without a locking differential, the alternative of which is a rear-wheel drive model. The Mercedes GLK is offered in two modifications, one of which is designed for off-road enthusiasts: in this case, the car has increased ground clearance, 17-inch wheels and special package options. In 2012, a restyled version of the Mercedes GLK was presented at the New York Auto Show. The new product received a retouched exterior and interior, as well as modernized engines.

Advantages and disadvantages of used Mercedes GLK

Mercedes GLK is equipped with the following power units – petrol 2.0 (184, 211 hp), 3.0 (231 hp), 3.5 (272, 306 hp); diesel 2.1 (143, 170 and 204 hp), 3.0 (224, 265 hp). As operating experience has shown, the most unsuccessful engine in terms of reliability was the base 2.0 power unit. So, in particular, on cars even with low mileage, many owners began to be bothered by a knocking sound from under the hood when starting a cold engine. The cause of this knock is a defective camshaft, or rather, its not entirely correct location. Therefore, before purchasing, be sure to check whether this problem was fixed under warranty.

Also, the cause of extraneous noise when starting the engine can be a stretched timing chain. One of the most common shortcomings of 3.0 gasoline engines is burnout of the valves. intake manifold

. The complexity of this problem is that the flaps are an integral part of the intake manifold, and you cannot buy them separately, therefore, the entire manifold has to be replaced. Signals about the presence of this problem will be: floating speed, weak dynamic performance of the engine. If the dampers begin to burn out, you must urgently contact a service center, otherwise, over time, they will come off and get into the engine, which will lead to expensive repairs. Also, after 100,000 km, the timing chain stretches and the intermediate gears of the balancing shaft wear out.

The 3.5 engine is perhaps one of the most reliable among gasoline engines, but due to the high transport tax, this power unit is not very popular among car enthusiasts. One of the disadvantages of this unit is the fragility of the chain tensioner and gas distribution sprockets; their service life, on average, is 80-100 km. A signal about the need for urgent replacement will be a diesel rumble and a metallic ringing when starting a cold engine. Diesel engines are quite reliable and rarely present unpleasant surprises to their owners, especially on cars of the first years of production, but only if they use high-quality fuels and lubricants . If the previous owner fueled the car with low-quality diesel fuel, then soon you need to be ready to change the fuel injectors and injection pump. Due to the accumulation of carbon deposits, the servomotor of the exhaust manifold flaps may fail. Also, some owners note failures in engine. On cars with mileage over 100,000 km, problems with the pump may occur ( leakage, play or even whistling during operation). On a 3.0 engine with a mileage of more than 150,000 km, you may encounter destruction of the exhaust manifold and subsequent destruction of the turbine.

Transmission

Mercedes GLK was supplied to the CIS market with six- and seven-speed automatic transmission (Jetronic). Most of these aftermarket vehicles are offered with all-wheel drive, but rear wheel drive cars also occur. Transmission reliability directly depends on power installed engine and driving style, and the higher the engine power, the shorter the transmission life. It is very important to inspect the box, transfer case and gearbox for oil leaks before purchasing. If, during slow acceleration or deceleration, you feel that the automatic transmission is pushing at least a little, then it is better to refuse to purchase this copy. Most often, the reason for this behavior of the box is a failed electronic board of the automatic transmission control unit. Also, this may occur due to wear of the valve body and torque converter.

With careful operation, the box will last, on average, 200-250 thousand km. In order to extend the service life of the transmission, service technicians recommend changing the oil in the box every 60-80 thousand km. The all-wheel drive system cannot be called very gentle, but, nevertheless, we must not forget that this is a crossover, not full-fledged SUV and, for serious loads, it is not designed. One common problem with the 4-Matic 4WD transmission is the hanger bearing. drive shaft, which is located in the engine crankcase. During operation, dirt gets onto the bearing from under the wheels, which provokes the formation of corrosion. As a result, the bearing jams and rotates. To avoid serious consequences, many mechanics recommend changing the bearing along with the oil.

Features of the used Mercedes GLK suspension

The Mercedes GLK is equipped with a fully independent suspension: MacPherson strut at the front and a mono-link at the rear. Mercedes has always been famous for its well-tuned suspension and the GLK is no exception, the car has excellent performance characteristics. Unfortunately, it’s hard to call the suspension of this car “indestructible”, since the chassis, like for a crossover, is very delicate and does not like driving on broken roads. AND, if the previous owner liked to knead dirt, major renovation the chassis will not take long to arrive.

Traditionally, for modern cars, stabilizer struts most often need to be replaced, about once every 30-40 thousand km. The silent blocks of levers do not last much longer, on average 50-60 thousand km. The service life of shock absorbers, levers, ball joints, wheel bearings and support bearings does not exceed 100,000 km. The service life of the brake system directly depends on driving style; on average, the front brake pads have to be changed every 35-45 thousand km, the rear ones - 40-50 thousand km. Before restyling, the car was equipped with power steering, after - electric, as operating experience has shown, most often bothers owners of a rack with hydromechanical power steering ( rack bushing wear, power steering fluid leakage).

Salon

As befits Mercedes cars, most finishing materials are sufficient good quality. But, despite this, on many copies the leather upholstery of the seats quickly rubbed and cracked, fortunately, the manufacturer changed everything under warranty. The interior heater motor is located before the filter, which, as a result, leads to rapid contamination and premature failure. An unpleasant whistle during operation of the ventilation system will serve as a signal that the motor needs to be replaced quickly. Quite often, owners complain about the failure of the rear and side parking sensors. Also, there are comments on the reliability of the electric tailgate drive.

Result:

One of the main advantages is that, often, girls own this car, and they are known to be more careful on the road and more meticulous about the care and maintenance of the car. As a rule, the owners of this brand of car are wealthy people, which means that the car has only been well serviced, therefore, cars in the secondary market very often come across in perfect condition, you just need to look hard. To avoid serious problems and expensive repairs try to avoid cars with the most powerful engines.

Advantages:

  • Rich equipment.
  • Original design.
  • Comfortable suspension.
  • Spacious interior.

Flaws:

  • High cost of maintenance and repairs.
  • Small transmission resource.
  • Electronics failures.
  • Short service life of most suspension elements.

Pros and Cons(I)

  • Mercedes GLK-Class 220 diesel owner reviews focus on the fact that up to 60 thousand mileage, problems generally do not arise. The smooth ride and softness of the suspension are pleasing. What is important is that it is respected and allowed to pass on the road (the Daimler Amg concern positions the MB GLK 220 SDI 4 MATIC as a smaller copy of the Gelika). In order to extend the life and resource of your iron horse, need to pour engine oil for Mercedes GLK 220 cdi specialized from Mercedes.
  • Then the check light comes on and the first problems begin. Parking sensors fail, and many car owners manage to replace them under warranty (because they have not been developed specifically for this model).
  • Problems with the GLK 220 suspension are not a rare occurrence; if the stabilizer struts break, the shock absorbers leak. If the car's power decreases, there is a problem with the fuel filter (in a Mercedes you only need to install original spare parts, and they are not cheap).

Pros and Cons(II)

  • A review of the Mercedes GLK 220 cdi 4matic shows that consumables last much longer due to the relatively light weight and compactness of the car. The fuel consumption efficiency in real conditions does not exceed 9 liters of diesel fuel in the city and 6.5 liters on the highway.
  • The 220 d 4matic with less than 200 horsepower is subject to a small tax. One of the obvious advantages is that annual insurance does not exceed $1,000, and this car is stolen extremely rarely.
  • The Glk 220 diesel is distinguished by high-quality interior trim and a smooth ride; when passing speed bumps, nothing rings inside. You don’t want to drive fast and overtake someone at traffic lights.
  • Many car owners are interested in the question of how to reset the Mercedes GLK-CLASS 220? To do this, you simply need to start the car, display the mileage values on the instrument panel, then turn off the engine and remove the key (the doors must be closed). Then insert the key and turn it one position to the right, then press the button with the telephone handset located on the steering wheel, then press the OK button on the steering wheel. Wait 5 seconds for on-board computer the following entry appears, then select ASSIST - OK - reset maintenance.

GLK - the first compact crossover under the Mercedes-Benz brand. It was assembled in Bremen, and about 540 thousand copies were produced over seven years. GLK is built on the basis of the C-class station wagon previous generation(S204). Hence the factory index - X204. The GLK uses basically the same components and assemblies as the W204/S204 models, so in matters of reliability and operational nuances, you can safely rely on the experience gained in dealing with its ancestors.

The GLK was officially delivered to Russia exclusively in all-wheel drive and with an automatic transmission. It has gained popularity and has fairly high liquidity on the secondary market.

  • On the GLK of the first years of production, problems with the block are possible power fuses located under the hood. The built-in static current shutdown relay is jammed in it. When the car goes into sleep mode, the relay cuts off power to unnecessary consumers and does not resume supply when the engine starts. The engine runs, but the entire instrument panel lights up with fault lamps, and the car cannot move. The fuse box is non-separable; replacing it will cost 15,000 rubles. Newer cars have a modernized unit that does not suffer from this disease.
  • Pre-styling GLKs were marked by melted headlights. Exact reason this trouble is unknown. Servicemen assume that due to bad contact on marker lamp the section becomes very hot, causing its reflector to melt. The manufacturer corrected the error during the update in 2012.
  • Radiators do not get dirty very quickly, but it is important to monitor their condition. Worst of all is overheating. automatic transmission. It is advisable to flush radiators every 60,000 km.
Lack of everyone electronic programs service - poor adaptation to Russian conditions. Tips suggest changing the engine oil at intervals of 20,000–25,000 km, and ideally this should be done at least every 10,000 km, so as not to finish off the already fastidious engines ahead of time.
  • Closer to 100,000 km, the front gearbox oil seals begin to leak. The oil in the unit is updated together with the replacement of the cuffs. Rear gearbox does not suffer from leaks.
  • Front shock absorbers last for an average of 100,000 km. It makes sense to update the support bearings at the same time as replacing them.
  • Steering problems on the GLK are extremely rare. This applies to both the rack and rods with tips.
  • Silent blocks trailing arms die after 60,000–80,000 km. Fortunately, they are available as separate parts.
  • Unlike the progenitor S204/W204, the GLK uses wheel bearings, which do not require adjustment. Previously, ignoring the need to carry out this operation at every maintenance service led to expensive repairs.
  • The service life of the silent blocks of the front beam support is 60,000–80,000 km. They can be replaced separately. Otherwise rear suspension The GLK is reliable and hassle-free.
  • In cars of the first years of production, the electronic steering lock may be faulty. In the event of a failure (internal electrical defect), it is impossible to turn on the ignition, although the key turns the lock freely. The lock is an element of the immobilizer system, so it can only be ordered from an authorized dealer.
  • On pre-reform GLKs, around 100,000 km, noticeable cracks appear on the left bolster of the driver's seat cushion. When inspecting a used car, this feature will help identify the fact that the mileage has been increased. Visually, the quality of the leatherette upholstery material has not become noticeably better, but there are no cracks.

Diesel 2.1 (170 and 204 hp) OM651 series is widely known for commercial Mercedes-Benz models and has proven itself well. Its two turbines, which come into operation in succession, are combined in one housing. Changing the engine power is achieved using a software method.

The OM651 rarely needs any major repairs. Of the common problems, one can note only a leak in the cooling system pump, which occurs closer to 100,000 km.

Piezo injectors are very demanding on fuel quality, and this is what determines their service life. In our conditions, they usually travel no more than 100,000 km. When one of the piezo injectors wears out, servicemen prefer to replace them as a set. It is noteworthy that for the first GLK releases the manufacturer itself offered repair kits for injectors.

The V6 3.0 diesel (224 and 231 hp) of the OM642 family has a serious design flaw. After approximately 70,000 km due to oil starvation bullies happen crankshaft, sometimes it even bursts. One of the reasons is that the oil heat exchanger located immediately after the pump becomes clogged. Assuming that the cause of the leak was wear of the gaskets, servicemen limit themselves to replacing them - and soon the engine begins to knock, and then is sent for a major overhaul.

Only the crankshaft and its bearings (bottom of the engine) suffer from oil starvation, while other parts remain undamaged. Often, when repairing, the craftsmen don’t even change piston rings, since their wear is minimal.

Another reason for oil starvation is leakage fuel injectors. Diesel from the cylinders enters the crankcase, and accelerated oil degradation occurs. Therefore, it is extremely important to monitor the condition of the fuel system and change the oil at least every 10,000 km.

The timing chain on diesel engines is massive and reliable. However, when repairing the OM642 motor, it is better to replace it.

The 2.0 petrol turbo engine (184 and 211 hp) of the M274 series appeared during the update in 2012. Different power obtained by changing the control program.

The block has liners installed, and there are no complaints about the reliability of the cylinder-piston group. However, an unexpected and absurd problem occurs - after 40,000 km, the plates on the camshafts on which the position sensors operate may shift, and an error code will light up indicating a phase mismatch. The problem can only be solved by replacing the shaft assembly: the sensor plate is secured by a shrink fit without keys. Attempts to put her in correct position and fix only give a temporary effect. Presumably, rotation of the plate occurs under conditions of high thermal loads.

The timing mechanism is equipped with a new type of chain (hardened, black), which practically does not wear out and does not grind off the teeth on the shaft sprockets. Phase shifters usually die after 100,000 km, emitting a characteristic crack in the first seconds after starting a cold engine - the advance mechanism stopper inside them falls apart. Turbines on gasoline and diesel engines last a very long time and rarely fail.

Atmospheric gasoline engines V6 of the M272 family - 3.0 (231 hp) and 3.5 (249 and 272 hp) - are considered problematic. Their characteristic sore- scoring on cylinders and pistons, appearing at approximately 100,000 km. They arise due to the fact that the active mass of the neutralizer crumbles and is drawn into the cylinders. When critical wear of the cylinder-piston group is reached, the engine begins to knock. After repairing or replacing the engine, the converter must also be replaced.

The timing chain on the M272 doesn't last long. Its resource directly depends on the driving style, but on average it becomes excessively long after 60,000–70,000 km. If you put off replacement for a long time, the elongated chain will quickly kill the teeth of the sprockets on the camshafts, and they are assembled with phase shifters - replacing all the damaged elements will hit your pocket hard. Mounting belts and rollers run an average of 60,000 km. This applies to all motors. Surprisingly, on gasoline Mercedes-Benz engines sensors die early mass flow air. Their replacement at 80,000–100,000 km is a common occurrence. The shortened replacement interval slightly extends their life. air filter engine.

The naturally aspirated V6 3.5 engine of the M276 series (306 hp) is the most reliable of the GLK gasoline engines.  Block with cast iron sleeves has no problems with the cylinder-piston group and rarely requires repairs. Like other Mercedes engines, the M276 3.5 does not have a long lifespan for the timing chain and phase shifters. The life of the chain is affected by driving style, but on average it runs about 100,000 km. When replacing it, the phase shifters are also updated at the same time, so that soon

Do not open the drive again. Since 2012, a modernized black hardened chain has been installed on this motor, so the problem with its short life has gone away. But the couplings remained the same - unreliable. Fuel injectors of all gasoline engines are sensitive to fuel quality. It happens that they need resuscitation or replacement after 30,000 km. And with caring owners, they last 200,000 km. As before, almost all gasoline units

Mercedes-Benz oil filter module begins to leak over time. Sooner or later, its body warps and the gasket becomes weak. There is only one way out: replacing the module assembly.

The seven-speed automatic 7G-Tronic (MB 722.9) and the transfer case form a single unit with a common crankcase. Alas, this couple suffered extremely unpleasant and expensive breakdowns. IN transfer case the output axle to the front gearbox suffers. Because of design features

By about 100,000 km, the crosspiece built into the above-mentioned axle also wears out - significant play appears in it. The manufacturer offers to replace the automatic machine and transfer case assembly - and this costs about 500,000 rubles! It is structurally impossible to change the crosspiece separately, and the axle is not available as a separate spare part, even assembled. Fortunately, unofficial sellers always have used items in good condition.

Against this background, a transfer case oil seal leaking from the side of the weak axle no longer seems like a big problem. The original cuff is available for order. The leak appears again after the notorious 100,000 km, but is not associated with wear of a weak bearing on the axle.

The machine's problems are well known from other Mercedes-Benz models. At any mileage, the control board in the valve block located in the pan may burn out. According to the experience of servicemen, this happens more often in winter. And in addition to the theory about the burnout of board elements due to the deposition of metal dust, there is a version that explains the problem by temperature changes in winter.

The automatic transmission is very sensitive to overheating and requires mandatory routine oil changes every 60,000 km.

In addition, there are common cases mechanical wear mounting surfaces of solenoids in the valve body. This usually happens after 100,000 km. Even specialized services prefer not to repair the valve body, but to replace it. Recovery attempts are most often unsuccessful.

A WORD TO THE SELLER

Mercedes-Benz GLK has good liquidity on the secondary market, but is noticeably inferior in terms of consumer qualities direct competitor- BMW X3. The risk of running into fraudulent advertisements is small, but car thieves keep an eye on the car. This is due, first of all, to the high cost of spare parts.

The AMG package increases interest in any Mercedes: cars find buyers much faster. And you can safely inflate the price by 30,000 - 50,000 rubles.

The version with the 2.1 four-cylinder diesel engine is the most successful. The demand for cars with top-end engines is very small. Some buyers prefer gasoline engine 3.0. As a rule, this is due to prejudices regarding powerful diesels and preferences of the target audience. Usually the GLK is bought as a second car in the family, so the most power-equipped versions are bypassed.

I recommend the GLK with the 2.1 diesel engine. Such cars have decent dynamics in combination with low consumption fuel, as well as maximum liquidity and fairly high reliability compared to other modifications of the GLK.

Plus a humane transport tax rate.

When choosing a machine belonging to a similar segment, I advise you to seek help from professional selectors. The cost of their services is low, and expert advice will save you from buying a car with serious problems, the elimination of which will cost a pretty penny.

RESULT

The Mercedes-Benz GLK suffered from serious and costly faults. Moreover, these are mostly offensive and sometimes ridiculous mistakes with the most critical elements - engines and gearboxes. However, among all the modifications there are a couple of relatively friendly options. If you take service and operation seriously, do not ignore fault indications and do not put off repairs, then maintaining the machine will not be too burdensome compared to its closest competitors.

The crossover is developed on a modernized platform of all-wheel drive vehicles from the Mercedes C-Class family. Unlike the C-Class, the GLK is 190 kg heavier. The GLK chassis is a version of the same C-Class adapted for moderate off-road use, with reinforced levers, a more powerful subframe and increased suspension rigidity. The transmission drive shaft is of an “oblique” type, similar to the C-class. Unlike classic all-terrain vehicles, the GLK does not have a frame and does not have reduction gears or locks. Instead of traditional locking, the GLK uses friction discs, built into the differential.

A set of three six-cylinder engines was proposed for the Mercedes GLK. Subsequently, in line power units added a new four-cylinder turbodiesel engine OM 651 series with a working volume of 2.1 liters, meeting Euro-6 standards. Turbodiesel versions were not supplied to the Russian market due to the engine’s inability to handle high-sulfur fuel. diesel fuel And low temperatures V winter time. Prepared for Russia diesel modification GLK with a 3.0-liter engine producing 224 hp. without urea injection system and not equipped particulate filters and gasoline 6-cylinder engines of 3.0 and 3.5 liters with a power of 231 and 272 hp.

For the Russian market, the model involved assembly with an expanded set of options under the general name “Special Series”. GLK "Special Edition" were painted in colors with a "metallic" effect. The standard assembly included a sports body kit, bi-xenon headlights and a parking assistant. For the Mercedes-Benz GLK, the price for the GLK 280 “Special Series” configuration started at 1,846,200 rubles. As an additionally paid option, buyers were offered several packages of additional options. Newest multimedia system increased Mercedes cost GLK for 170,200 rubles. The "Offroad" option package was offered for 74,000 rubles. The sports trim of the Mercedes GLK could be ordered for 44,200 rubles. Mercedes price GLK series GLK 350 and 320 CDI with the maximum set of options was about 1,994,300 rubles.

In May 2011, the first spy shots of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLK were leaked to the press. In the fall of 2011, the updated compact crossover was presented at the Frankfurt auto show, and in January 2012, the reconstructed GLK was presented at the Detroit International Auto Show. Official world premiere updated Mercedes GLK took place on March 30, 2012 as part of the New York international motor show. The most innovative solutions in the updated GLK the system was named adaptive cruise control Distronic Plus, active electronic systems - lane change assistant (Blind Spot Assist), lane departure warning system (LDW - LaneKeeping Assist). The Intelligent Light System has been supplemented with an adaptive assistant high beam. Mercedes GLK became the first production Mercedes standardly equipped with an all-round visibility system.

In October 2013, Mercedes began testing the next generation of the GLK-Class model. The crossover has become larger, received LED optics and new upholstery materials. In addition to gasoline and diesel engines a new hybrid engine has been added. The new product debuted in its pre-production version at the 2014 Detroit International Auto Show.
