If you look in profile, the dynamic silhouette of the sedan stands out. This effect was achieved thanks to the lower roof and elegant side panels. And the rear of the sedan received modified headlights, which became narrower, as well as a massive rear bumper and an elegant spoiler on the trunk lid. And expensive configurations can count on a spectacular bumper with additional cutouts and powerful exhaust system with double pipes.
For the sedan, two body kit options are offered, with different front and rear bumpers. The first option is where the radiator grille is lined with horizontal stripes, and the second is a grille with a cellular structure. In addition, factory tuning provides options for two-tone body color, where a roof with a panoramic view will smoothly “flow” into the dark racks.

The radical restyling also affected the sedan's interior. The architecture of the center console has changed significantly. Unlike copies of the 2017 model year, new car has an elegant curve, above which there is a climate control unit and a multimedia system screen (see photo). The number of wooden inserts has decreased; they are now present around the gearbox selector and on the dashboard, near the passenger, and the air deflectors have become significantly narrower.
The dashboard configuration has changed. The new dials are located in deep “wells” that improve perception. The seats have slightly changed their profile, but this is not significant. And the main advantage of the interior was the increase free space on the second row. Passengers received 30 additional mm of legroom, which had a beneficial effect on comfort.

But even despite the fact that the VIII generation is still sold exclusively in foreign markets, and its official debut took place more than a year ago, in January 2017, the interest of our public, generously flavored with protracted anticipation, has not weakened at all.
So what’s interesting about this global novelty for Russia?
Appearance
The appearance of the XV70 sedan, as you know, has changed beyond recognition. None previously released Camry model I have never received such a bold design. Even the previous model - the XV50 - was devoid of the expression and sparkle that appeared in the new product.
And the point here, first of all, is not even that the new model, by definition, should be different from the old one. Everything turned out to be much more serious. In a corporation Toyota Motor There was a deep rethinking of the internal work process, which changed the vector of development by 180 degrees, and two models became the first-born of big changes - Toyota Camry and Prius.
Toyota Motor President Akio Toyoda said that the era of cars with boring Toyota design becomes a thing of the past - “no more boring cars!” By these words he meant that the design department was given carte blanche. Like, create, experiment, adjust models to new style standards.
The result is a very interesting appearance of the sedan. It is both aggressive and elegant. The car turned out to be assertive, elegant and emotional.

If you don’t understand what we mean, let’s answer: the new product has a unified design for the first time. From the first lines at the front to the final lines at the rear, the Camry looks solid. This didn't happen before.

Next is the food. I just can’t believe that this is the creation of a Japanese company! We predict that, for sure, when the first thousand sedans hit the roads of Russia, people will confuse them with some American or European counterparts. However, probably, in order to avoid this confusion, there are large Toyota nameplates and an equally prominent inscription: “”.
Tapered tail lights, blurred over part of the trunk, dashingly drive onto the rear fender, visually expanding back four-doors. And the trunk lid! Just admire her! This is no longer the huge “gate” that we were used to on the previous model, but a really beautiful solution to improve the appearance of the car, part of the aesthetic ensemble, not without aerodynamic practicality.

The most “bomb” is in the front
Well, the most interesting variant of style development was proposed in the front part of the car.

The designers, led by Ian Cartabiano, managed to homologate the “face” of the car in such a way that it looks extremely fresh, aggressive, but at the same time recognizable. We have already seen these lines on the Camry XV40 version.
The same headlights (they are similar in shape, but not in technical stuff; now everything is grown-up - LEDs on high and low beam), the same stretched solid false radiator grille on top. And the huge mouth of the air intake below, a legacy of later models. This is where genes and modernity are tightly intertwined. This is where you can clearly see how much you can change a car through design. Fascinating!
If you like exact numbers, we can note that designed on modular platform TNGA ((Toyota New Global Architecture) GA-K model received 4.885 mm in length, 1.840 mm in width and 1.455 mm in height. Compared to the seventh generation restyling, the car has grown in all respects: at least by 15 mm in width, maximum - by 35 mm in length. But the height, on the contrary, decreased by 25 mm , however, like the ground clearance - it has become smaller by 10 mm and is now 155 mm at the lowest point.
A few more words about the dimensions. Wheelbase increased by 50 mm and amounts to 2.825 mm . And as we know, an increase in the base primarily affects the comfort for passengers - there should clearly be more space in the cabin, with a special emphasis on rear passengers. But the world is unfair, as noted by auto.mail.ru journalists who have already tested samples at the test site: there was... less space in the back. What can you do, you have to pay for a stylish appearance with comfort.
The luggage compartment volume corresponds to 469 or 493 liters. Why is there a spread? It's all about the function of adjusting the backrests of the rear seats. For more expensive trim levels it is present and “eats up” a little space in the trunk.
However, as Western colleagues noted a year ago, adults of average build will be quite comfortable in the back.
By the way: Now the car can be equipped with fashionable 19-inch wheels, but for the Russian market, access to them will apparently be denied. R16 and R18 - these are the wheel sizes that future owners in Russia can count on.
Safety

If you look at the hardware, first of all it is worth noting the presence of many reinforcements of the car body, which save you from frontal, side and rear impacts. The rigidity of the body has increased by about 30%, in which the massive use of high-strength steels played a significant role.
When reviewing more technological protection options, we cannot fail to mention the proprietary Toyota security system, which is also installed on luxury Lexuses.
Packaged into a single system, various features help prevent frontal impacts or mitigate the consequences of rear-end collisions, they will also keep the vehicle in its lane and improve driving safety at night.
TSS includes:
Pre-collision System (PCS): the system uses a camera and laser radar to scan objects in front of the car. When a potential threat is identified, the system determines whether a collision is likely and alerts the driver to brake using audible and visual alerts.
Lane Departure Alert (LDA): Using the same camera used in PCS, LDA detects visible white and yellow lane markings, alerting the driver with audio and visual alerts if the vehicle begins to drift out of its lane.
Automatic High Beam (AHB): This system is designed to improve the visibility and safety of other road users at night.
Pedestrian Pre-Collision System: In addition to a video camera, the system uses millimeter wave radar to detect pedestrians in certain conditions.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC): this security system works on the highway and monitors vehicles and their speeds. When required, it can adjust in automatic mode vehicle speed within a given range by smooth acceleration and braking.

The power units have not undergone any changes
