The 2018 Toyota Rav 4 is decorated with convex lines on the sides and concave details on the wings. The door handles have a new look: they are located lower than before, with a slight slope. The driver receives keyless entry. The rear view mirror as standard is equipped with a black mounting leg, LED turn signals, automatic folding, electrical adjustment and memory.

Thanks to composite materials the new Rav began to weigh less. His full mass now – 1690 kg. The remaining parameters of Toyota correspond to the highest category. The new Rav 4 has the following body dimensions in cm:

- height – 167.
Clearance width – 20 cm and wheelbase– 270 cm. The Rav4 suspension in the new body was made in a standard form using MacPherson struts and springs.
In the new body, the Rav 4 acquired the following technical characteristics:

- Reaches maximum speed at 180 km/h.

My last test of the RAV4 wasn't all that impressive. Perhaps it was the contrast between good memories and harsh reality. Or maybe the suspension was just too harsh for a crossover. Anyway, let's see if there's anything good about the facelifted RAV4 other than the mind-blowing color.
Down with! Down with me, I tell you, and I wonder why you, dear friends, don’t shout with me! - Down with boring black and white cars! Down with the color wet asphalt” (who even thought of this?). Life is given to a person once, and not to spend it in monochrome cars!
The color of the RAV4 I received is an ordinary blue metallic, but, God, how amazing it looks in photographs, and, in fact, in real life.
Restyling affected the entire nose and slightly the front and rear lights: they got sharper outlines. If you can use the word “more angular,” then this is exactly how the updated RAV 4 began to look. Headlights are now xenon in all trim levels, and the stops and turn signals are LED.
The previous release, in principle, could not complain about the interior, so it did not get much better.
The screen has grown a little, and so has the dashboard. The control unit for the sport/eco mode, as well as the heated seats, is covered by a visor hanging over them. Therefore, you have to find the buttons by touch or radically change the fit. Visually it looks great, but the question of functionality remains open. Above the glove compartment there is a niche in which you can easily forget your mobile phone, for example :)
It's comfortable to sit here, and the seats are just right. Well, maybe a little softer than I would like. But can you really blame someone for comfort?
The seating position in the RAV4 is not the highest in the model Toyota range, but this is not an SUV either. In general, you feel a little above the flow, you see a little further, and for some reason you get the feeling that you will go faster :)
The view from the car is excellent, by the way. And large mirrors are, in principle, one of characteristic features RAV4 line. Rear seats - in bulk. Long-legged models no longer have to be seated in front or on their necks. Although…
But what’s really cool and surprising is how the all-round visibility system is implemented in this car. The thing itself is not new. The image from four cameras around the perimeter of the car is processed and produces a picture of obstacles around the car. This helps a lot when parking and driving through bottlenecks (those who have driven in the courtyards of prefabricated high-rise buildings will understand).
So the trick is that when turned on, this system simulates “flying” around the car, and the virtual camera can be fixed anywhere, so as not to break/scratch/run over anything.
The new RAV4 drives well. For a crossover. The gearbox shifts smoothly, acceleration is confident, but, to put it mildly, leisurely. If you are taking the car for a drive, then the RAV4 is definitely not for you. Gone are the days when a two-litre, three-door stool could make someone dead at a traffic light, because it’s not a matter of volume, but of horses and weight.
Another question is that the pleas (possibly mine) regarding the excessive stiffness of the suspension previous model were heard by the Japanese, and the new RAV4 became much smoother. What’s interesting is that in corners it is almost as composed as its predecessor, and the innovations did not affect maneuverability at all. But you go along dirt road and my heart doesn’t hurt for the suspension.
As for consumption, by the way, if you constantly press the trigger, it will reach 16 liters per 100 km or more, but with smooth movement I managed to maintain a consumption of about 10 liters.
The sound here is normal. No more, no less. At the price of this car, it’s enough for me that the sound doesn’t irritate me. The settings do not help the situation, and after torturing the upper frequencies a little, I left everything as it was.
The bad crossover is the one whose trunk won't fit a guitar. RAV4 guitar test was successful. And the luggage net turned out to be very convenient for a pair of hoverboards, which otherwise roll around the trunk and hit the walls during acceleration and braking.
Let's sum it up?
Overall, this is a nice car with too much space for a crossover. The relationship with the Land Cruiser is evident. For a base price of one million three hundred, this is generally a wonderful unit, despite the fact that for just over two million, the price of this unit in the “sophisticated” version, you can buy something that runs better. Although if you were looking for a racing car, you definitely came to the wrong section.
I'm excited to watch the RAV4 line evolve, and if Japanese marketers decide it's time to return to three-door crossovers, I'll be one of the first in line.

The new fifth generation of the famous Japanese crossover Toyota RAV4 2019 first announced itself six months ago, but the new product was officially presented with a partial list of characteristics only now. The new Toyota RAV4 2019 tells many that the 5th generation is a complete transition to a new design, and from the old crossover in fact only certain parts in the interior, the rest is completely new, especially the appearance. The 2018-2019 Toyota RAV4 crossover has become brutal, with rough features, and it is also clear that Lexus designers have worked on the exterior and interior design.
